181  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: January 10, 2014, 06:37:35 AM
We don't have our miners pointed at GHash.IO by chance do we?

No we do not.

Additionally, I will be happy to set up a live feed of our new hardware hashing away once it arrives at the end of this month. This will be a great way of promoting shareholder confidence.

Will update as things progress.

Hello all,

The sCrypt motion has passed by a large majority, and the hardware will be online and fully operational, along with the 28TH from CoinTerra, by the end of the month.

Best Regards,
Garrett

P.S. I have mailed all FIMB holders and they will be repaid promptly after confirming their bitcoin addresses. If you are a FIMB holder and did not receive the email, please PM me.

Here, you can trade right now: https://www.havelockinvestments.com/order.php?symbol=COG. IPO was a whiles back (unless you were being sarcastic.) And shares are at a relatively low price. I have a feeling they will pick up when the units arrive in Jan.

Thanks for the analysis on that, Ryan.

I too am confident in share prices rising ones dividends are consistently being produced in January when we will have a 100% transparent operation.

Best,
Garrett
184  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: December 26, 2013, 05:34:03 AM
I spoke to Garrett about taking an active role in Cog's operations. Although I'm not geographically close to the hardware (Ohio) I'd be willing to take administrative duties such as maintaining the website, updating hashrate, informing shareholders etc.  I also have an office space with free electricity (per lease agreement) if shareholders decide it prudent to decentralize the location of the hardware.

I'd like to organize a conference call, skype meeting, etc. to discuss the issues of COG in a medium that may be more beneficial than Bitcointalk (with the consent of Garrett, of course). This way we may be able to clear the air and come up with a plan of action for COG moving forward.

I have experience in executive positions and have previously grown the Bitcoin MeetUp in Cincinnati, OH from zero to nearly 40 members in a matter of six months.

I think this conference call would be highly beneficial, and a necessary step in moving forward. I'll send out an email to shareholders shortly inviting everyone to participate in a conference call. I am certainly open to the decentralization of everything, which includes our hardware of course.

Best,
Garrett

I'll be back soon with good news, and pictures of our new 28TH that will be online in just a few weeks.

Cheers
186  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: December 21, 2013, 10:24:00 PM
FIMB has taken longer than I've hoped because of complications at Havelock due to its bond nature. It will be online and all backed up dividends will go out this month, hopefully on Monday.

Just to be clear, I have never scammed and will never scam anyone.
187  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: December 21, 2013, 08:03:46 PM
Having some staff could make Cognitive more appealing and the shares would be more valuable.

I agree, and I have had a few people ask to fill a PR role. I do feel that Cognitive will have a better image once some staff is in place, because I cannot be maintaining the forums all the time, due to the fact that every minute I spend on these boards is a minute not spent on growing Cognitive in a more direct way.

In the next hour, a motion will go out for the purchase of an alt-coin mining rig, and to determine where we want to point this hash power we can have polls via email with all shareholders.

188  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: USD between MTGOX <--> DWOLLA on: December 12, 2013, 08:00:24 PM
I think the Dwolla restriction stuff was for exchanges that were doing a lot of business and were using Dwolla's checkout / automated system. I think private transactions like what I'm asking for would completely fly under the radar.

Hoping so at least. I need to spend me some btc tonight and Dwolla is the only thing I have that's liquid and is at least historically a bona fide currency for btc exchanges  Undecided

Jute

Just a warning to you all, I've had $4k locked up in Dwolla for 5 months now. Use caution and never keep a Dwolla balance!
189  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: December 12, 2013, 07:58:51 PM
but are they "real"?

pretty sure i would have heard about it if there really was one.

Ditto. I'm very well meshed in the FPGA/ASIC community and have not heard of this yet. If they are legitimate, I will take a historic perspective and estimate an additional thee months (*ahem, Avalon*) to one year (*ahem, BFL*) on delivery.

Right now, I strongly agree with investing our reserves in Litecoin hardware in the GPU variety. Are there any disagreements with this?

From post #1754 page 88

A financials report will come quarterly starting December 2nd, and the second one being released on January 1st.

Was this report ever completed?

The last dividend in question looks like it was sent out November 29th.  I assume from the comments, this dividend was released through BTC-TC and now some address is missing?

The full dividend minus the reinvestment fund must have originated from somewhere, from some address under your (Garret) control.  It would have had to been withdrawn from what ever mining pool we were mining at at the time.  We can start with that address and track it from there.

I don't think there is any need to go searching for some address related to BTC TC that may or may not exist.  Am I wrong here?

Finally from post #1427 page 72

Yesterday, I placed an order for Cognitive from CoinTerra! I negotiated a discounted rate so we were able to purchase 14 2th/s boxes for a total hashrate of 28th/s, to be delivered in January!

For added protection, I signed a contract with CoinTerra that includes: "If delivery is beyond January 31 2014, for every thirty days late CoinTerra is in delivery of hardware, CoinTerra shall deliver an additional 30% of the total
hashpower agreed to in this contract. if no hardware is delivered within 180 days after January
31, a full refund shall be made to Cognitive."

As stabs first brought up in post #1430 Coin Terra is under no obligation to deliver this order.  There is no repercussion for not delivering this order.  This basically a loan at 0% which can last for up to 180 days after January 31st 2013.

I was very positive about this venture for a long time, but there are too many question marks and not enough answers.

CoinTerra will indeed ship this order regardless of the loophole in their contract. They have every incentive too, because their reputation will be tarnished if we make it public that they abused their contract like this.
191  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: December 10, 2013, 11:11:07 AM
I do not have the addresses connected to the BTC-TC Cognitive account, and cannot get to them because we all can't log into BTC-TC any more.
It should be no problem contacting Burnside to figure out which adresses were connected to the Cognitive account, in case you really have no adress on file.

Please send Burnside an email yourself, using this post as my authorization for him to release it to you. This way I cannot lie and give you a different address.

What about tomorrow, how is the next hardware going ? Any news ?

The 28TH of new hardware is on schedule for January delivery, and arrangements for power are underway Smiley
192  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: December 08, 2013, 09:45:12 PM
No need for panic, we have been mining with other pools since before the closure. I have always had backup pools set to automatically switch over if our current ones shut down. I will be finalizing the pool migration tonight so we will have a totally transparent operation with all addresses exposed.
Why aren't you posting the old adresses? Do you really want us to believe that you don't have them? It should be no problem contacting Burnside to figure out which adresses were connected to the Cognitive account, in case you really have no adress on file.

I do not have the addresses connected to the BTC-TC Cognitive account, and cannot get to them because we all can't log into BTC-TC any more.

The addresses we will be switching to are:

1cogxXyYU2EXEbdcV9j18PWenRU7gAjt1 for Slush's pool.
1cogHCDW6ScMxuXQ5DNxS6LvLRVP18vBt for HHTT (becoming effective this evening)
1cogtXwSq9pZLfNsiFv48UFzjdEtZGTN7 for Eligius  (becoming effective this evening)
193  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: December 08, 2013, 08:33:13 PM
i got my cog f2 shares ,thank you garr

Great, no problem! Also, COG.F and COG.F2 are trading live!

What address are you addressing? We were mining on mineb.tc and always sent coins directly from the pool to either BTC-TC or Havelock. I am going to migrate us to a few different pools which I will have set up to deposit coins to a few addresses, one for each pool including:
1cogHCDW6ScMxuXQ5DNxS6LvLRVP18vBt
1cogtXwSq9pZLfNsiFv48UFzjdEtZGTN7
1cogxXyYU2EXEbdcV9j18PWenRU7gAjt1
etc.

This will make it extremely simply to follow Cognitive's mining output. And like I said in the previous post, realtime hashrate graphs are coming soon!

All of this info will go live on http://cognitivemining.com/charts , the first update being output addresses which will be done before the next dividend.

Cheers,
Garrett

GARRRRR!!! MINEB.TC has been closed for several days now, where are you currently mining? why don't you address this fact? do you even know mineb/tc has closed and stopped mining about 5 days ago?

100k then...that would at least, hopefully, buy us some time.  Tongue

Pfffwhaaaat?? Looking at the current trends that would mean btc would have had to be $90+ thousand a piece last year! lol

rjk, do you still have the entire pwm fan controller setup that I built for this project years ago? I remember taking a lot of pride in that, being my first bitcoin-related project Smiley

Good luck selling, I hope someone will be eager to take on the challenge for sCrypt mining!

Also, COG.F and COG.F2 will be online today. Please create accounts at Havelock with the same email addresses used on BTC-TC and your shares will be deposited within one business day.

Cheers

How about FIMB? Is it going to Havelock too?

Indeed.

I'm usually defending Garrett, I consider myself the 'voice of reason', and given the few talks I've had with him I feel like he's a pretty cool dude. That said...

1. The poor communication is not cool.  However, it's been said already, either Garrett will take it to heart, or ignore it to the determent of COG.  I hope the former.
2. If mistakes were made, a pool ripped us off or malfunctioned (a pool having luck that bad for that long is highly unlikely - technical problems or scam are more likely explanations) then fine - tell us that.  But without understanding the cause of the under-expectations returns, we have no way to know if it was a fluke, or something that impacts future returns as well...
3. Yelling at Garrett, Threatening Garrett, Threatening to sell COG, etc are all unproductive.
4. If available, data about our payout address / mining details would be super nice to help substantiate and understand what happened over the last 2 or so months
5. Moving forward, having a non-public payout address is simply not acceptable.  I can't think of a single drawback and it has every advantage to address the naysayers and add much needed transparency.

Occasional stints of poor communication aside, you've done a fine job running COG, Garret, I look forward to you addressing these issues.

Thanks!

Hello all,

I do aim to resolve all of the issues at hand, and I apologize for this, but it is simply not feasible for me to read the forum more than once a day every day. You all ask a lot of me, and I ask to please be more patient in waiting for responses from me, so long as I do answer in a timely manner.

I have come up with a plan to satisfy all of these questions. Do do this, we're going to set up a way to view realtime and historic charts of Cognitive's hashrate, live payout address & balance, and possibly a live video feed of the miners, which will be available at http://cognitivemining.com/charts

I have not been logging hashrate so far, because there has been no demand for it. All of these things will be up and running by January.

I do understand the increased concern for the transparency due to the increased value of our coins, and I respect that highly. Moving to a pool where we have a dedicated payout address is the simplest and most important step to take, so I will do this before the next dividend, so we can start out the next dividend-week with the same payout address. Then there will be full transparency with the financials, because as we all know and love, bitcoin doesn't lie Smiley
