181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.0 on: December 08, 2016, 03:09:33 PM
Yea. The spikes are quite real.

One of my pc's has a 730w psu powering a rx 480 and a 280x. This combination has been running stable for months without problems (even eth/sia dual mining). A few minutes ago, the pc rebooted and said "a power surge was detected - press F1 to continue". There is nothing else running on the system except claymore v9.

there are crashes often leading upto the donation mining portion of mining which makes me wonder if some dual mining mechanism isnt triggered during the donation period which is more taxing on the system.

how old is your power supply? did it you manage tog et up and running again without issue?

fyi, zec mining payouts are coming later and later.. about 4 hour deviance from scheduled payout time.
183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore 9 freeze on: December 08, 2016, 01:30:38 AM
try with -nofee 1 as your first command line argument.

it leaves out some optimizations that draw extra power and workload from the GPU.

you may well get to keep a higher intensity to make up for lack of features that crash your card anyways.
184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.0 on: December 07, 2016, 06:38:28 PM
I'm not complaining but I think something is off with the miner for RX480 cards

are you guys gonna let him talk about Clay like dat?

p.s. strapped 290's crashing immediately, reflash or step back on intensity does the trick. otherwise gains across the board Smiley
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v8.0 on: December 05, 2016, 02:44:05 PM
i'm more than a bit curious.. since we are the ones contributing to your dontation.

how much do you earn on an average daily basis from your mining fees?
I am a bit curious about that too. I know that he earns around 800€/day on nicehash only. But how much in total...I have no idea. Probably around 5000€/per day. Nobody knows but himself

anybody capturing packets to identify the address we mine to during donation phases? or does it randomize?

over a grand a day seems excessive for 2.5% surely 2% would have been enough no? heh .5% seems like a desperation plea to get that little extra bit for putting bread on the table it seems. Then again i don't work with serious numbers that often.

kinda disappointed with the zec fee raise due in december.

hard to believe there has been a steady loss on this coin unless one foolishly attempts to hold for price raise.

probably asking how to stake..

just purchase blackcoin and deposit it into an unlocked wallet (for mining or entirely)

depending on the amount of coins you purchase you will begin to generate stakes after a short maturity period.

if they can unearth a few measily atari video games for a hundred grand you can bet there are some serious hunters for this treasure out there right now.

problem is there will be no announcement when or if the treasure is found.

wow controversial statement from someone not hiding behind an account they use to disrupt things without consequence.

granted it may need reworking but i think the concept behind ethereum is important and can be hardened against malicious use eventually, if not without having to give up certain aspects of the protocol to do so.

zcash is such a mismash of crypto tech that was just intended to obscure or at least not quantifiably gain any advantage over anything else out there currently.

just wreaks of ginger if you ask me.

with the downtime on eth mining i have switched back to ZEC, having compiled the newest silentarmy offering on my lniux machines.

i tried suprnova at first and got to say the payouts are currently laughable there.. having taken in to account the variance and difficulty changes, the payouts do not add up. i bet the admin overpaid all those nicehash contracts in the early days just to establish a mining base on his pool and now he is reaping benefits with the "fees" he is accumulating.

in an hour at f2pool i made up same amount of coin as 5 hours at suprnova earlier.

i am still getting excessive "Stratum server returned an error: [23, 'high-hash', None]" errors at f2pool though, about two a minute.

please work hard to get ethereum mining back online, i would rather be mining a coin that has a future in crypto.

no experience with R9's just my RX cards that have worked fine.

What kernel version are you using?

4.4.0-47
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [HELP] Building rig which will use NiceHash on: November 19, 2016, 04:35:00 PM
i would suggest you try with one gpu first.

work out whatever gaps you have in your knowledge of mining before dropping your savings on something you know little about.
195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 60 GPU mining rigs on: November 19, 2016, 04:31:08 PM
Well usually the MSI brand in gaming is better than the competition but I don't know if it will make any difference in mining altcoins. From what I have seen from people who build rigs they usually are using the Sapphire version, maybe because it is better for mining but I don't really know.

If I would name the brands down for the graphic card section I would name like this.

1.MSI
2.GIGABYTE
3. ASUS
4. XFR
5. SAPPHIRE-NITRO (always almost same)
6. PALIT
7. ZOTAC

For your piece of mind I suggest you do your own research in many GPU-s or PC parts forums like Toms Hardware to find out which brand is best between graphic cards.

Would be interested to hear why MSI is so high on your list? of my lot the only MSI i have (RX470) just died on me.

first casualty of the new generation Smiley

You might want to try to be root, then run the command to change dpm state.
i.e. sudo is not enough.

Of course it's not, not unless you do sudo sh -c 'echo manual > ...'

The reason being the redirect by the shell is run as you, not under sudo.

even as root you will run in to some bugs on having settings take. generally things work though.

no experience with R9's just my RX cards that have worked fine.

isn't AMDGPU-PRO available for ubuntu 14.04 now as well?
197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC to ETH ? on: November 19, 2016, 01:44:57 PM
buy bitcoin and mine ethereum. trade neither there are much more lucrative altcoins out there you can catch on some volatile and predictable waves/cycles.
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: November 19, 2016, 01:39:30 PM
Is Claymore's miner any faster if not dual mining?

no, if ANY gains are noticed they are negated by the "donation" mining deductions.

but then again i'm running an older genoil version before some features i enjoy seeing were removed for the sake of esthetics.
199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Cannacoin (CCN) | PoW->PoSV | No premine | No IPO on: November 19, 2016, 01:34:13 PM
Tokyo & 8-bit,

I have been part of CCN since the very beginning, I started mining CCN at the launch and have been mining and staking CCN ever since. I have been away from crypto for about 2 years due to living in a part of the world where reliable internet is considered a luxury.

I have come back to find that the communiity around CCN has disappeared. NWGT has gone 'black'. The threads here on BitcoinTalk are empty. Cannacoin.cc is down. The last commit to Github was Aug 2015. What has happened?

From this statement in the your lost post - 'At this point though, everything is open-sourced and ready for whomever would like to utilize this very robust and developed network.' - it sounds like Subcreative is no longer supporting or involved with CCN.

I know that 8-bit has the Cannacoin.tech site up and running along with a newsletter. Would you be so kind as to fill me in on the current state of CCN?

Thanks,

Protocol   Count   Network Share

2000001    21         100.0 %

Still 21 clients actively running the wallet and blocks are being processed.

Aside from that i'd love to hear more details as well.
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: November 16, 2016, 07:10:11 PM
Hey all, so i had to re-install my ethereum wallet on a new pc as the old hard drive ran out of space.

I copied my Keystore file and have copied it into the newly downloaded wallet.

The wallet is taking days to fully sync, it's still about 1000 blocks away and never quite reaches 100%.

My wallet however is showing 0 ETH balance when i've checked the blockchain and it should hold approx 25 ETH.

Any idea why the wallet is not showing my balance and why it's taking so freaking long to sync?

which wallet are you using? the defacto wallet i would say is geth.

to resync with geth its highly recommended to use the --fast feature to minimize the effect the spam block transacitons that went on for weeks will have.

your balance wont be up to date until you are at a synchronized block that has your last transaction for that address.

use a blockchain expolorer website and plug in your address to get and accurate reading of what is actually in your account at current block.
