What are some of the reasons you've heard from people as to why they're afraid of cryptos?
Most people are afraid of risking their money in cryptocurrencies is that they don't actually have enough knowledge about trading. They are most likely the negative thinkers who always think of the worst than the best. As a noob, you'll definitely be afraid of online investments. Add to it the fact that there are myths that give bad impressions towards cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.

Another reason is that these people are thinking that cryptocurrencies are fast money or a quick-money scheme. There's a lot of news about money schemes that turn out to be scams, and people are now hesitating to invest in cryptocurrencies with the fear that they might get scammed, too.
184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing on ICOS is good or bad ? on: November 11, 2017, 08:23:09 AM
Please give your ideas according to your experience.
Actually, it's good to invest in ICOs as long as you know the right thing you should upon joining to them. In fact, these new ICOs are good opportunities for investors to start their journey in online investment safely, but most people who are joining the ICOs think that this is a fast way to earn money.

The thing here is that, whenever you join an ICO, don't expect too much from it. What I mean is that you should not expect that once you buy coins from these ICOs, you'll immediately earn money. Most of the time, The amount of money you've invested in an ICO is MORE THAN the actual value of the coins you've bought.

What makes these valuable is that when investors hold these coins for longer time and not to sell it immediately after receiving the coins. People should change their mindset from BUY NOW SELL NOW to HOLD.
185  Other / Off-topic / Re: Since im in crypto.. i cannot on: November 11, 2017, 06:31:02 AM
get away from it even one day.... an hour? Only when im at work (which isnt much)

When im not here, i switch to youtube, when im not on youtube i switch to coinmarketcap, when im not on coinmarketcap i check my email, when im not in email i check my phone sometimes. Or facebook.

And then repeat that cycle...  Cheesy      Embarrassed  Roll Eyes

Ooh, ad reddit to that as well since recently..

and ofcourse being on exchanges. Or bitmex adventures.
I feel you. That's actually the life of a crypto-trader. A bit tedious, but worth doing if you succeed. I've been in that cycle also, that's why I am looking for something to do. And that's what led me to make signature designs. In fact, I can't notice the time sometimes that I'm still doing my work in bitcointalk, only to find out that it's already 6:00PM in the evening.

To keep myself away from boredom, I usually read some articles, and I learned signature desiging by just reading a tutorial here in bitcointalk. Now, I am spending my time in signature designs, and every day is a learning day for me.

188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It's Time to Buy Alt Coin on: November 10, 2017, 07:56:31 AM
Look at the price, what's happening, it's all affect of hard forking, which will be happening in 3rd week of October. But now we can see the reaction of the market. Just wait couple of days more, All Alt coin price will hit rock bottom. It is good chance to buy or invest in alt coin, if you want to get into few new coins.
if I have a lot of money it's time I invest alt coin because the price seems to be down and we can have alt coin with a lot of money
The best time to invest in altcoin has actually started already last month, when the bitcoin is on the rise while the October 25 forking is getting near. Now that it's November, there is still time to invest in altcoins. Now that the Segwit2x bitcoin hardfork is reportedly abandoned or postponed, the price of altcoins are expected to rise up for the meantime.  If you are planning to invest in altcoins, NOW is the right time to do that. Don't miss this opportunity.
189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My first three days in day trading. on: November 10, 2017, 05:33:27 AM
So after doing a TON of research I rearranged my schedule and decided to try my hand at day trading.

I decided to start off really small, so I only put in .02 BTC to see where I can go with it.
I've been using only cryptopia.

After three days...I'm up to .0338711 BTC! Wao! I'm a rich man! lol...

I was pleasantly surprised that a simple strategy brought steady gains.
I spent a lot of time trying to figure out indicators of coins that were about to be pumped.  I looked at trade volume, spikes in value, market cap, buy/sell order history, etc.
I am going about this very cautiously, so when I felt like a coin was about to or in the beginning to middle stages of being pumped, I would buy it, and right away put in a sell order that was slightly higher for a small gain.  I tried my best to not put in too much and resell for a lot higher and the result was steady (but tiny gains).  As I get comfortable with this I will probably try larger investments.

I know I'm very amateurish but it feels good to get better at something yeah?

Anyone had similar experiences in day trading?
Actually, that's better than day-trading. Putting your coins in sell orders doesn't necessarily mean that you are doing a daytrading, especially that you are setting an specific price for your coins being put in sell order. That's not a long term investment, but I don't also consider that as daytrading. You're actually waiting for days or weeks (like in your case, you were able to sold the coins after 3 days) before you were able to sell it in a specific price.

It seems that your strategy was nice, and I would like to congratulate you for being successful in your first take in crypto-trading.  Wink
190  Economy / Speculation / Re: $50,000 Bitcoin In The Next Couple Of Months? on: November 10, 2017, 04:25:33 AM

In his latest video, Mike Maloney ponders the questions 'Could Bitcoin hit $50,000 in the next couple of months?' and also, 'Is Bitcoin in a bubble and could it crash?' You may be surprised to hear how Mike answered these questions and the action he has taken accordingly.

Click here to watch this video:

https://mikemaloneyblog.blogspot.ca/2017/11/50000-bitcoin-in-next-couple-of-months.html

Unless there are some big whales planning to buy bitcoins, I don't see bitcoin to hit $50,000.00 (crazy price, tho!!!) in a couple of months or years. This month, bitcoin hit it's all time high $7,800.00. Most people wonder how that happened within a month, but the reason can be explained by the basic law of Economics. Due to bitcoin forkings which aim to upgrade bitcoin network, most investors have bought bitcoins to take the chance to get the offspring coin of bitcoin from that forking (i.e. bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold). That's also the reason why altcoins has fallen even before the forkings started. The high demand of bitcoin pushes its value to rise up, and that forced some sellers to sell their bitcoins to big investors who moved their money from altcoins to bitcoin.

If ever there are investors or group of investors who want to buy a bulk of bitcoins for future purposes, then there's a high possibility that bitcoin will continuously rise up. But as of now, I can't see bitcoin price to reach $50,000.00 in just a couple of months.
191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Rise of the Alts! on: November 09, 2017, 06:25:20 AM
Now that we have this nonsense of Segwit2x out of the way, the alts are finally getting some long overdue attention. Some of the top alts are already experiencing a very nice pump as money is being shifted away from bitcoin.

This unexpected news rewards people who had strong hands on some of the good altcoin projects.
Well, this should be a good news to those altcoin holders who have been patient in waiting this moment to come. But as of now, bitcoin isn't yet done with its pumping. In fact, bitcoin has been steady at $7,200.00 in the past few days. As long as the bitcoin price is still there, I can't see the altcoins to pump up yet. Altcoins will probably pump up after the incoming forking of bitcoin, but the pump will not be that high because most investors might enjoy the high price of bitcoin at the moment, especially that it's Christmas season, and bitcoin will be a popular way to send a gift to someone.
192  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin drop hard? I am waiting to buy it. on: November 09, 2017, 05:21:26 AM
Will bitcoin drop hard? I am waiting to buy it.

I am thinking sell now 7280$  and buy back at 6700- 6900$. How do think about this strategy?

many peoples believe it will drop hard to 6500$-7000$

I don't think bitcoin will drop trememdously in the coming months. With the high demand of bitcoin due to the forking, bitcoin value will likely continuously rise up. If you are planning to buy bitcoin with your pocket money, then I think you should do it now. Also, do not sell your bitcoins now. It is better to hold it for longer time. Bitcoin price might drop for a while, but not in big amount. Maybe, it will drop from $7,200.00 to $7,000. It's not probable that it will drop down to $5,000.00-$6,500.00.

193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin crash is imminent on: November 08, 2017, 08:33:24 AM
Bitcoin bull run is nearing its end, the steam is running out. Altcoins will rally after the fallout is all said and done.

BTC price at post $7,288
Lol. I dont think it's already a dead end for bitcoin. With its popularity and upgraded network (due to bitcoin forkings), I think that it is just the beginning. No one even expected that bitcoin will go this far way back in 2009. As long as the third bitcoin forking is still pending, then I don't see the bitcoin price to fall yet.

Also, it is so obvious that altcoins will be on the rise again once the forking is done, but that doesn't mean that bitcoin will fall down to $3000 or less. The bitcoin craze is not yet over, especially that it's Christmas season. Bitcoin will continuously rise up in the coming weeks or months.
194  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: buy btc now or wait the fork ? on: November 08, 2017, 07:06:01 AM
Hello
I decided to invest around 2400$ for a long term investment in BTC but the price is currently high. Should I buy now or I wait for the fork when price probably go down ? (I will invest in etoro so no exta coins will be obtained after the fork)
I think, you've been a little bit late, but not too late. If you are planning to invest in bitcoin, do it now Don't wait for the forking to end before investing. As per record, bitcoin price usually rises up before a forking happens (just like what happened during the bitcoin gold and bitcoin cash creation). You should invest now in bitcoin and watch the bitcoin price to continuously rise in the coming weeks.

Bitcoin price usually drops AFTER the forking because that's the time that most investors are withdrawing their investments from bitcoins and shifts to altcoins. This results to rise of altcoin prices. This is why it is ideal to invest now in bitcoin and altcoins, then wait until the forking ends, then you'll see you'll gain from your investments in altcoins later.
195  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin up Altcoin down | what is your trading strategy? on: November 08, 2017, 05:20:25 AM
When bitcoin price is down/up altcoins price will be down, when bitcoin price is sideways/steady altcoins will be up.
I don't agree. Bitcoin and altcoins are like two people that are both seated at both ends of a see-saw. When the bitcoin price rises, the chance is that the price of altcoins will fall , and when the bitcoin price falls, altcoin prices start to rise. In most cases, when the bitcoin price is steady, there's no much movement in the price of the alcoins.

With this basic principle always watch out on the bitcoin price forecast. But if you are a long term holder of alts then this will be not the case. Suggest put your investment on solid alts that can easily recover when the bitcoin price normalize. Also learn to have stop/loss in your trading platform to avoid heavy losses to the point that you can't bailout because of heavy losses. Just buy back after correction.
Also, you can't classify any altcoin as solid or weak, since cryptocurrencies are volatile that one day, the price of one of these altcoins might fall. The best thing to do is don't move out your investment in bitcoin. It is a good idea to hold bitcoin for long time. At the same time, invest a separate money to altcoins. Diversify your money to different altcoins. In this way, you can avoid, or at least minimize, your loss.
196  Economy / Economics / Re: Investing money on bitcoin..! on: November 08, 2017, 04:17:45 AM
I believe Bitcoin expense is one of the fastest expanding investment on the planet. At the present rates of growth i believe Bitcoin price will certainly double by itself after the coming year so investing in Bitcoin is very profitable

There is no doubt, that investment in Bitcoin has a great potential in the coming days but one should not ignore alt coins at the same time. I believe that if someone invests at right time can make upto 10-20x in alt coin in a short span of time. But all such things require proper knowledge of the coin and company so that one can make best out of least. Rest investment in Bitcoin is profitable in the coming years there is no rocket science in that after seeing current scenario.
It is true that the bitcoin investment is one of the fastest expanding investment. I am one of the people who invested to the bitcoin because I know that the bitcoin has a great potential in the cryptocurrency market.
Agreed thus it will more give us profit in the future than some other cryptocurrency. I am holding much more bitcoins than investing in altcoins. Investing money in bitcoins is wealth.
Not all the times. The price or value of a cryptocurrency doesn't dictate your profit. This usually depends on the percentage of change in its value, be it an increase or decrease. Also, bitcoin is not always a good investment. As of now, bitcoin has a very high price because of the incoming forking. But after that forking, or maybe in the start of 2018, we'll see its value to fall down for a while.

Bitcoin price usually pumps up during these kind of situations, and the ideal moment to invest in bitcoin is BEFORE these forkings happen.
197  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin reduces unemployment on: November 07, 2017, 09:52:49 AM
Second is bitcoins increase the numbers of self-employed people that is why i can say that bitcoin increases unemployment. I think i need a clarity on this matter would you please have quote for me.
Again, look for the definition of the terms SELF-EMPLOYED and UNEMPLOYED. When we say that a person is self-employed, he is actually working, but doesn't have an employer who pay him. He is working for himself and is earning his income through conducting profitable operations from a trade or business that he operates directly. This is actually the right term for people who works in crypto or bitcoin trading.

On the other hand, people are classified as unemployed if they do not have a job, have actively looked for work, and are currently available for work. Therefore, we can not consider a self-employed person as an unemployed. And self-employment doesn't increases unemployment.
198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO Is Really A Good Investment or Not? on: November 07, 2017, 08:40:06 AM
Now a days a lot of ICO are flodded. All the ICO are not good for investment. Only few one are good for investment.  You have to study project report, white paper, roadmap before investment in ICO.
It seems that you've ruined your statements by saying those that I put in bold letters. People/investors need to be smart and wise when it comes to investments. Cryptocurrency have became a trend since bitcoin has rised up to the moon. And that's the reason why there's a lot of ICOs nowadays. They've been inspired by the journey of bitcoin, from nothing to something.

Although MOST of these ICOs nowadays are considered SCAMS, there are still FEW PROMISING ICOs that are being made by faithful and dedicated developers. Before joining an ICO, you should check its WHITEPAPER. By just reading the whitepaper, you can get almost all the information you needed about that ICO. Also, it can help you in your decision once you plan to invest to it.

Remember, success can be achieved if you take the risk. Life's like that. Take the risk, and see what happens. But then, just what I've said, you should be smart and wise in making your decisions.
199  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Strategy for upcoming BTC fork? on: November 07, 2017, 04:24:09 AM
Hi guys,

new here, been reading a lot of tips & tricks and learning a lot from all you guys so thank you for that already!  Grin

About the upcoming Segwit2X BTC fork I was wondering what trading strategy you are considering. Given the past two forks of BCH and BTG, I assume:
1. The overpriced BTC goes immediately down after the fork and settles at near the 5k area (just an estimate).
2. The value from BTC flows mostly and directly to the altcoins.

As there is no way to accurately predict when block 494,784 is mined, there is a good chance some of us are sleeping (as I was during the BTG fork) while all this action takes place.
From logical perspective, I'd want to move my BTC to e.g. LTC/XRP/IOTA/.... almost instantly after the fork. Hereby I take my gains from BTC while also profiting from the increase in altcoin values. In a later stage, I will use the surplus from the alts so re-invest in BTC and end up with more than I have right now. However, as I will likely have most my BTC on my ledger and exchanges do not support consequential trade orders (e.g. (1) sell BTC, (2) buy XXX etc), this might prove difficult. Undecided

So.. What strategy will you be using?  Huh
Really? Why are you going to move your investments from BTC to altcoins during bitcoin forking? I think, the best thing to do a week or two before the bitcoin forking is that you should invest your money in bitcoin, then put it in a wallet that supports the forking (i.e. you'll receive the equivalence of your bitcoin in terms of the bitcoin forked coin).

It is also not a good idea to move your investments from BTC to altcoins even after forking because as you can see, a lot of altcoins are on a freefall in the past 2 months, especially the top altcoins like ETHEREUM and ALTCOIN. There's no point on moving your money from the cryptocurrency that continuously rise up (BITCOIN) to an altcoin that has a falling value.

200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO discussion on: November 07, 2017, 03:18:58 AM
I see ICO appear around 30 in 1 day, but I see no promising projects yet
They like to see ICO where to raise money, whereas ICO has a heavy responsibility.
I am very concerned about this condition
Yeah, I can't blame those people whose first impression towards ICOs is SCAM. There's a lot of ICOs in the past, but few of them have succeed. And from those which succeeded, only about 5%-10% were actually living it up to their supposed purposes.

Most ICOs today are all about MONEY. The devs will raise an specific amount of money, then after they reached that mark, they will just leave those token/coin holders without any words from them. Another case is that once these holders have received their tokens/coins, they immediately sell or trade these tokens/coins, and will complain if they found themselves having a big loss.

These tokens/coins are supposedly to be hold for long time before trading them in order for its value to rise up, but people nowadays are too greed, and they want to earn immediately, thinking that investing in cryptocurrencies, especially in ICOs, is a fast way to profit.
