Anyone else get an email like this:-

At this moment 65% of balances on wallets is in stock, the rest of balances on wallets will be turn into tickets, which we will buy from you. Vouchers can be buy and sell on our market. On September 13 we will start money transfers to your purses. Before September 8, please fill a blank which you must download from the attachement, and send it to btce@btc-e.nz

BTC-e managers.

Sure got several, shoved them in the trash straight away before infection.

By your logic, you'll then want to anonymize your coins after withdrawing.  There are some pretty advanced systems out there to link wallets to real identities.  So if you truly believe there is a risk receiving funds from BTC-e, then you have work to do separating yourself from them.  Personally, I don't think individuals are going to be targeted by any 3 letter organizations.  If you can show your deposit to the exchange, then you can prove you are just withdrawing your own money.

I take it you'll be waiting til Sept 15th?

One of the troll box people set up a poll

Very surprising. They are only offering a 55% refund though, which is quite a low amount. But at least that is better than nothing because that was what i thought was most likely to happen with customer funds. Kudos to them for at least attempting to reimburse everyone.

I've heard some people complain about phishing emails, please only follow their official twitter account and go by whatever it says there(or their bitcointalk forum handle). Because if you click on a phishing link and the hacker gets your account details they can withdraw all your funds as there is no verification in place.

BTW, anyone got their withdrawal? Is the majority holding onto their claim to claim their balance in full or are they claiming now?
Nobody has received their refunds, if you read notices it will be 72hrs.  Mostly Americans taking their 55% and running judging from the chatter in the troll box, the main reason seems to be that they don't want to have to verify their accounts after the 15th. the people that had mainly fiat balances are holding out until the 15th.

184  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: September 03, 2017, 12:24:10 AM
So those six check boxes at the refund page is to agree to withdraw funds now and lose 45%, as well as your account?
Yeah, the check box that says "I agree that my account will be deleted without an option to restore it after the return of 55% of my funds."   might be related to that.

Can anyone recommend a no-hassle (probably crypto-only) exchange that deals in all of BTC, BCH, LTC and ETH?
https://www.exodus.io/eden/
Eh, I don't really consider installing experimental unsupported software "no-hassle". I'm just looking for an online exchange where I can quickly stash the less valuable coins until I decide what to do with them, and have the option of converting them to BTC if I decided that's the best course of action.

A multi-curency wallet program sounds cool and all, but it's not what I'm not really up for messing with that at the moment.
bad luck for you then. Keep looking.

I believe that depends on how many of us decides to get refunds now. I think they will give a more solid answer after this refund period. They can recalculate all those that forfeited their 45% adn then they will know how much more they can reward those who stayed.

Exactly.

I stay. I'm not a mobster, I did not wash money ... why do I run?
I hope my stay helps them because it is worth it.

Some people need fiat so they take what coin they can now and cash out whilst market is up to compensate for 45% haircut.
Others just weak hands, much fear.

If so, was anybody able to successfully withdraw something? (I would like to wait for reports before I try myself)
it's there, log in /refund

btc-e.com - a Bitcoin exchange whose funds were partially seized, along with its domain name, by US authorities is now back online at https://btc-e.nz, reportedly offering users to withdraw half of the funds they had and also crediting its users with tokens for the missing funds.

Half is better than zero, many people have lost hopes of them coming back but looks like users of btc-e got lucky to get atleast half of the amount they thought they have lost.

Good news..
It was always a suspicious exchange you sre right getting half of the funds is better than getting nothing. This exchange was just like hashocean everyone knew there is something suspicious in it but they still continued investing. Btc-e was not giving free btc or anything related to cloud mining but have the least price in the market just to save $100-200 many people lost thousands.
Do you shill for the US government or some other exchange?

Hi people

Thank you for all comments! all info about btc-e is very important for me.
I'm have a question. it will be possible to trade on this platform?
i'm like to work in btc-e more than poloniex or kraken

Than you so much
Yes, but it may not be before Sep 15th. when they are launching a rebranded site that complies with AML and KYC verification.

There is a small chance crypto trades will be activated on the old site before then, only crypto withdrawals, no fiat.

I really miss btc e chatbot =)) many troller in there make me happy everyday

Except it's full of idiots who logon, too lazy read the FAQ or the new updates at the top of the page, so you end up with the same questions in the troll box over and over ever 5min. all day long.

192  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: September 02, 2017, 02:01:13 AM

As long as I could trade and withdrawal, even minimal amounts in crypto only, I'd be fine with that! (Using VPN of course). We just need to know what exactly unverified accounts will be able to do.
I am happy to give out may name, address, phone for verification. What I am unhappy about is giving out details that could be used in a fraud, eg. a photo of your license with signature on it etc. same as I would be unhappy about giving someone my finger prints or DNA. At some point the information you give out is enough for someone to pretend they are you and commit fraud.

193  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: September 02, 2017, 12:39:19 AM
Hopefully tomorrow update will have some better info that might sway the decision.  I was in ltc,  losing 45% is definitely going to hurt, especially with ltc prices going up the way they have the past few days.  I guess one way to look at it is the monetary value is about the same as when exchange was taken down.

What more info do you need?  it's pretty simple, if you want to withdraw now, you can only have it in crypto, and there is a 45% withdrawal fee.

194  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e exchange is back online on: September 02, 2017, 12:27:57 AM
Be careful. It could be a phishing attempt. I need to investigate it further before trusting it.

There is always someone that wants to spread FUD

195  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: September 01, 2017, 10:28:42 PM
I read it if you withdraw the 55%, you accept the 45% as tokens (not you lose it).

Depends on when you withdraw.

Quote
Tomorrow, on September 2, 2017, it will be possible to withdraw 55% of the funds from the account in koins on the condition that our debt obligations are abandoned to the remaining 45% of funds in the form of tokens.
So if you cash out 55% tomorrow, BTC-e are not obliged to give you tokens for the remaining 45%, so you take a 45% hit.
Look at it as the "withdrawal fee from hell" for those that are impatient.

196  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: September 01, 2017, 10:00:39 PM
The update also said trading would be possible without verification. Unless I read it wrong?  So you could trade but not withdrawal unless you are verified on the new platform?

Yes, this is still very confusing. I really hope this is all clarified by tomorrow. They said you can trade without verification. They also said originally that there are 2 verification tiers (one totally unverified, and one verified with ID/passport). The latter point made me believe that US residents (at least those with small accounts) could withdraw unverified.

But their wording of the last update around AML/KYC makes me scared that we (US residents) shouldn't wait around to find out.

These are the hoops you have to go through when trade in countries where the governments are full of ex banksters.
197  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTC-e hacked ?? on: September 01, 2017, 09:19:41 PM
I also think that it is a little more complex than that.

Meaning, if you withdraw tomorrow... all your balances, fiat included, will be converted to coins and you will be able to get 55%.
Losing the 45%.
Everything will be converted at tomorrow rates. Meaning if you are all in fiat...
it will be a mess, considering the uptrend you will have sold low and bought high. Really really high.
if you wait 15 September... who knows.
They will tell us tomorrow.

A lot of people will probably take a 45% hit if they were mainly in BTC on the exchange July 25th., the reasoning being that BTC has risen by that much since then so they will not be out of pocket in fiat terms. eg. if someone borrowed $10,000 back in early July and bought  4 x BTC at $2,500 it's now at $4,800 so they can sell the 4 BTC now taking a 45% hit for a total of 4 * $4,800 * 0 .55 = $10,560 and pay off what they borrowed.  For other coins it may not be as attractive to take the 45% hit by cashing out early, especially if there is no pressure from borrowing, you have to work it out case by case.

From my understanding there was seizure of servers and bank accounts - so which countries were these in, if not russia?  Were they in multiple countries?
Well the OKPAY accounts are a UK company, and nobody seized those, they were suspended, and it's pretty obvious that Russia wouldn't let the FBI operate on their turf it's would be an international incident. What's next, seize Snowden?
