1801  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Buying Altcoin with BTC, Capital Loss Every Single Time? on: September 15, 2019, 04:17:11 AM
Yes im from the us but not in the us at the moment.  I want to know how its treated when you buy altcoin since you dont go directly from usd to altcoin like with btc/litecoin/eth to usd etc.
1802  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bad time to get into daytrading? on: September 15, 2019, 03:23:44 AM
Do most ppl daytrade coins that are paired with fiat like btc/eth/litecoin etc compared to other coins like lisk which cannot be traded with usd/usdt?
1803  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: ERC-20 tokens are now supported on Ledger Live on: September 15, 2019, 03:22:12 AM
Wait are you saying coins like powerledger now can be put in the nano ledger now without using something like MEW?  I have powerledger in an exchange at the moment.
1804  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Money laundering via BTC on: September 15, 2019, 03:20:36 AM
I always wondered about this.  So are you saying crypto wallet hackers who get btc in hacks, clean money this way?  I know lot of wallets have gotten hacked.  So if someone hacked 100 btc for example, then went to turn it into real money, how in the world would they do that?  I mean they can't say i bought 100 btc back in 2011 when it was 10 dollars right?

The other thing i thought was well couldn't they sell btc with local bitcoin?  But obviously bigger transaction, the more risky it is.

And if they send the btc to like coinbase or gemini or bitstamp, wouldn't they have tons of questions from exchange?
1805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to find out where I sent btc from? on: September 15, 2019, 03:07:05 AM
Hi there i just found out where the btc came from, was from gambling site as i expected.

But when on binance site, it doesn't show anything.  For example i can't even find transaction where i had btc sent a while back.  only the transaction for trade though.

Is there reason you dont use binance anymore?  You from US as well?
1806  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to find out where I sent btc from to binance if not electrum? on: September 15, 2019, 03:06:48 AM
Can someone tell me how i can find this information out?
Not really. Try checking your Binance's deposit address in a blockchain explorer, finding the 0.1 BTC deposit, seeing which address originated it, then looking for it in your wallets. There isn't any kind of info related to the wallet anywhere else (blockchain, binance, etc...). Or just check your deposit history (I guess it should be there, but I don't use Binance anymore)

Also is there a way to see what btc address was used to send the 0.10 btc to my binance account?  I basically did a trade that same day to buy altcoins.  But i do not know where the 0.10 btc came from exactly to binance.  But i need to know how i had 0.10 btc sent to binance on that day over a year ago.
Do the above to see if you deposited it from a wallet. Otherwise, check your trading history to see if it was from a trade.

1807  Economy / Trading Discussion / How to know exact price i bought a coin at? on: September 15, 2019, 02:20:13 AM
I bought a certain coin on a certain date over a year ago.  Say i bought binance coin but tiny amount a long time ago.  If i know i bought it at say $9.25, but then i sold it pretty quickly but it was not meant to sell it for btc or usdt but used to pay the buying fees when buying an altcoin, is there a way to get up to minute on exactly how much binance coin cost on say january 1 2018 at say 2pm exactly etc?  Say i had btc sent from wallet to binance an hour earlier.  Then an hour later i went to buy altcoin with the btc but i first buy tiny about of BNB first as i would use that for fees when buying coin.

1808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How to find out where I sent btc from? on: September 15, 2019, 01:43:53 AM
I'm American and registered my binance account outside the US a while back.

I deposited btc into binance over 1 year ago.  It was for around 0.10 btc or so.  I took a look at my old binance email and see that on a certain date, i sent 0.10 btc to binance over a year ago.  But i want to know, is there a way now to see how i got that btc sent to binance?  Because over 1 year ago, i used electrum where i kept my btc but when i look at my old transactions, i do not see 0.10 btc sent on that date.  Thus the btc sent to binance was sent from another site.  But i do not know what site it was.  Such as it is most likely a gambling site where i requested btc and had it to sent to binance.  But i check those gambling sites i used but cannot find history of me withdrawing btc that date.  But im close to 100% sure the 0.10 btc sent to binance that day was either a gambling site or bittrex.

Can someone tell me how i can find this information out?  Its for tax purposes.

I'm American and registered my binance account outside the US a while back.  At the moment, i can still log into binance.  So at the moment, americans can no longer trade on binance?  How long do we have until we have to withdraw our coins?  I still have some coins on binance.  So can Americans still trade now or not?

1811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Waves Client Error Login? on: September 14, 2019, 11:30:16 PM
So i haven't used the waves client in a while.  I tried to log in and when i open waves client program, message i get is there was error in program but backup is restored on the bottom right like in notifications for windows 10.

On the main screen, it shows get started only as oppose to enter my password.   It shows Waves Dex on the top left etc.

Can someone tell me why i cannot log into my waves wallet?  It should have waves account number there and i copy/paste my waves password but i cannot do this?

Edgeless is now 2 cents.  Does anyone have a clue how this happened?

Funfair is like $0.002.

I thought edgeless was going to be big?
1814  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Buying Altcoin with BTC, Capital Loss Every Single Time? on: September 02, 2019, 12:24:06 AM
Don't know why you ppl seem confused.  If you want to buy altcoin, you need to buy btc almost always to get that altcoin.  Example say you want to buy lisk, you can't just send money to coinbase or bittrex and then buy lisk with usd.  So wouldn't that mean you lose money each time almost since you have to pay the trading fees?
1815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance Hackers Bombard Chipmixer to Launder at Least 4,836 BTC on: September 01, 2019, 09:40:19 PM
I always wondered this.  But when hackers hack wallets for btc or other coins, how do they make it legitimate so they could sell it for real money?  So they use mixers but if they sell the btc to coinbase or bitstamp etc, aren't there going to be tax issues such as where did they get the btc from as how they earned it?

I mean if have btc and sell it for cash in person, well they can get cash.

But how do these hackers who hack this much money make it legit?  I mean if they don't have much money, well they can't create a business etc.  Always wondered how these hackers do these kind of things.
1816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank account froze after selling btc (UK) on: September 01, 2019, 09:37:52 PM
Im not from the uk but from the us.

So you arent allowed to sell btc to others for cash deposit or bank transfer or something?  What is difference between that vs an exchange?
1817  Bitcoin / Legal / Fifo vs Lifo vs Other Methods? on: September 01, 2019, 04:31:34 AM
I use lifo to do taxes for btc.  But i find it to be very hard to calculate when you do this.

Once you use a method for a coin, you have to stick with it entire way right?

But what about other coins you bought?  Could you use lifo for btc but say fifo or any other method for other coins like say iota?

Now isn't the benefit of lifo where you sort of defer tax till later on for the coins you bought first?  Thus tax savings?  Or its the other way around?

Is there a weighted avg method?  Example you bought say lisk but say you bought it 6 times in a year.  Say you bought it at prices of $1, $1.23, $1.52, $0.56, $0.60 and say $0.66.  Could you average them so when you sell it, its at an average same price?

Is there any benefit to weighted avg vs lifo or fifo?

I know if you hold longer than a year, you pay 15%.  Anything less i believe its 35%?
1818  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Should I worry about my tax report? on: September 01, 2019, 04:26:40 AM
It seems like if you only buy btc and hold it, you don't have to.

But let say you want to buy altcoin like lisk.  Then you have to since in order to get lisk, you have to buy btc to do it.

So those ppl who buy altcoins, have lot of transactions right if they plan to say buy a lot of altcoins and hold?
1819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Binance: $BNB The Future of Exchanges. on: September 01, 2019, 04:25:11 AM
Alright.

As of now, are there any binance phishing site at moment?  A while back i recall there was one where it was 2 dots on the n or something like that.
1820  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What is the official binance site? on: September 01, 2019, 04:24:26 AM
