881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Never sell your Bitcoin? on: July 10, 2021, 08:55:01 PM
Do you think someone should never sell their btc unless they absolutely have to?  Such as if you have money enough to even barely pay your bills, do that and don't sell any btc?

Has hitbtc got really bad since years ago?
883  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seed phrase security question on: July 10, 2021, 08:25:57 PM
Well i got laptop and iphone.  But the way i have my laptop on my desk, its like pointing at my computer monitors, got a dual monitor setup so the laptop is to the right of it where the laptop camera is well pointing towards the camera.

So you should tape the laptop camera at all times?  Because anything that is on my computer monitor screen, well my laptop camera is essentially pointing straight at it.

Is that a concern?  Like imagine you were typing your seed in a software wallet and the laptop camera is pointing straight at it.  Has there been known hacks like this?  Also so if you were to actually sing your seed while your iphone is on... that is a huge concern?  What if you record it with the voice memo?  That is obviously bad but has anyone tested this with a seed and put a tiny amount of crypto in it just to see if anything would happen?
884  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto Passive Income - My Experience on: June 30, 2021, 05:39:19 AM
Hey.  I actually have waves and waves exchange wallet.  I do stake waves though but don't stake anything else.

But do you stake usdn?  Is it only that small percentage apy now?  But how much interest is that a year?  Does it change every week or so?

Again because if its how it is... why can't someone put a decent amount of money into usdn and stake it for passive income?  Like imagine someone with 10,000 dollars or 100,000 dollars... buy usdn and stake it in waves wallet.  Then they get around 700 or 7000 dollars a year right?  But the usdn can always convert back to usdt or usdn right?
885  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto Passive Income - My Experience on: June 30, 2021, 01:08:06 AM
What is the best site for staking a stablecoin like usdt or usdc?  Im from the US but overseas though.

Some sites i can't use because they are restricted due to my location etc.
886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to the coins after your death ? on: June 30, 2021, 12:58:35 AM
Is giving the seed to a lawyer normal?  Also how is that safe if something happens to your lawyer or where he stores your seed?  Have tough time imagining a lawyer having multiple clients seed phrase etc.  Like what if they lose it or something like that?

887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL...until when? on: June 29, 2021, 06:09:03 AM
I got to wonder... what about those ppl who own a ton of btc... like imagine 100 btc or more etc.  I mean that is more than enough to retire right now if they were to sell everything.  Then you have those whales who probably have 500 btc or more.  I mean... even if you sell half of that, that is already rich etc.

I also don't understand the thing with rich people... if they have like a huge net worth already... think like 10 million dollars or more... isn't that enough to just not care anymore?  Like why be concerned with price or that when they are already super rich?
888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🔷 Waves Tech - a powerful blockchain-agnostic ecosystem on: June 29, 2021, 06:06:00 AM
Also do people here store their waves in the waves_exchange wallet or do most of you use it with the nano ledger s?  Im confused with this as i read if you store waves in nano ledger s, you need to use it with the
waves-exchange wallet together.  Can someone explain this?  So when you have waves in your nano ledger s... does that mean the waves seed you have... is no use?  Im confused because where are your waves now stored if you send it to nano ledger s?  The waves blockchain or nano ledger s blockchain?
From my understanding (disclaimer: I don't own a Nano Ledger):

The Nano Ledger doesn't have its own blockchain. Its seed encodes the seeds for your addresses for the supported cryptos. If you use it with Waves then the Nano handles your Waves seed and you don't have a direct access to it.

Can anyone confirm all this?  So using it with the nano ledger... is your waves seed no good anymore?
889  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dominance hits 43%, alts surging ahead on: June 29, 2021, 06:05:22 AM
So most people agree its going to be almost impossible for btc dominance to hit 70 percent again right?  I find this extremely hard now because when btc goes up, the alts seem to go up higher percentage.  If that is the case, how did btc dominance last time dropped to below 40 percent... then went up to high 60 percent though?  Then it went up higher but then went down lower again.

890  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dominance hits 43%, alts surging ahead on: June 28, 2021, 12:07:06 AM
Doe anyone here see bitcoin dominance going back to over 70% dominance again?  What has me confused is a while back when it was that much, then everything started dropping around half that amount in btc dominance.   This happen when btc went up but the alts went up much more.  Now that the price of all coins dropped, only now is btc dominance slowly going back up... because btc drops in percentage but the alts drop much more percentage.

So in a way, if you have btc is that good or bad?  I mean if you want btc to go up if you own it... but you also don't want the dominance of it to be so little compared to the alts right?

Okay so been a while since i checked the waves_exchange client and have quite bit of questions.

So im staking some waves now as i did a while back and see 6% staking and seem to get waves sent to me every week.

I see usdn where you can trade waves for it.  Is usdn a stablecoin like usdt or usdc where its flat one dollar regardless?

The thing that is confusing here is at the bottom it says you stake usdn and get 12% to 15%   If so, i see you could stake usdn now and it shows interest of 18.67%.  Is that annual interest?  If so, how is that even possible?

Example if one person has 10,000 dollars worth of waves now and trades it for usdn... they get around 10,000 usdn minus trading fees right?  And i see the fees are literally like 15 cents or so?  It literally shows the transaction to swap waves for usdn is 0.005 waves fee.  But i see there is also a protocol fee... so is that another fee you pay?  So imagine trading 10000 usd worth of waves... how much would you get in usdn?

So that would mean if someone has say 10000 usdn and stake it the entire year they going to earn 1200 usdn or so at least by the end of one year?  So now their balance is 11200 usdn?  Thus imagine doing this with 100,000 usdn... you going to earn 12000 usdn a year?  Then with that balance, you could convert that 12000 usdn to usdt... that send that usdt to coinbase or exchange to convert it to fiat and then to your bank account.  Am i making any mistake here?  But this is with using 12% yearly interest but right now... its 18.67%?  But that number changes throughout the days and weeks right?  But it doesn't get lower than 12%?

If that is the case, couldn't someone with 1,000,000 dollars literally just earn 120,000 usdn a year and then convert that to usdt... then convert it to fiat to coinbase and back to their bank account?  I know those sites like blockfi, celsius offers you interest like that on stablecoins like usdt and usdc etc... so the waves exchange does it as well with usdn?  And USDN is basically a stablecoin of a dollar and never changes?

Can anyone confirm this?

Are people here buying usdn and staking it?  This seems ridiculous that one can literally earn at least 12% yearly interest with it right now as passive income?  I mean 50k usd earns you 6k.  Someone who has a ton of money like 500k would earn 60k usdn yearly?  Then they can easily convert that usdn to usdt/btc and then to fiat?

If so, how come there isn't much talk about the waves exchange compared to say blockfi/nexo/celsius?

yes, it is true and it is working. There is just not much marketing going on and no attention to Waves

Are people here staking usdn and usdc/usdt on waves wallet?  Can someone explain in dollar terms how much they earn staking on this in waves?

Example l0000 dollars and put it for a year.  How much you get back in one year if you stake usdn?  usdt?  usdc?  For usdt and usdc, i know you get usdtLP and usdcLP but not sure how you calculate it?
893  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 25th Word in Nano Ledger S on: June 23, 2021, 10:45:05 PM
I got to ask this.

But what percentage of nano ledger s or trezor wallets are not accessible because the user forgot the 25th Word?  I got to assume this happens much more than talked about?

But the big difference is even if you forget your 25th Word, well you have as many tries as possible right?  I remember that story of a guy who forgot his passphrase or pin but then only had like three tries remaining.  Or if someone set up a 25th Word but somehow messed the process up somehow?
894  Economy / Trading Discussion / Daytrading vs Holding on: June 23, 2021, 09:59:54 PM
Okay so people keep saying holding is more important and things like its better because if you hold, you pay less in taxes because of long term capital gains as oppose to short term which makes sense.

However, what if the crypto or stock increases like 50% or even double in a few days time or weeks time etc?  Yea so you are paying a lot in taxes if you trade... but if you wait for a year or longer, now you could have no gains or just 5% gain.  Whereas you trade for a few days and make 50%... sure you pay a lot in short term capital gains... but if after a year, the gain is only 5%, well you made more trading than holding.

Thoughts on this for trading whether crypto or stocks?  Doesn't it make a ton of sense to daytrade crypto since you could make a lot in roi where even if you daytrade, well paying the taxes in short term gains would earn you lot more money than holding it long term when the gains could be completely gone by then?  Or if there are gains, well you might get just a 5% gain and long term and pay long term capital gains... but if its short term and 50% or even double that... well the amount you keep after taxes is much more than that 5% long term gain?  Of course ideal situation is big percentage gain and long term gain but of course that is hard.

Anyone else US citizens still using binance without an issue overseas?
897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL...until when? on: June 22, 2021, 03:41:53 AM
Yea do most people have an amount where they say okay if it hits this much, i will sell half or all of it?  Example someone with 5 btc.  If say it hits 500k, then they sell everything or half of it and live off passive income?
