We (BitPay) like moving to "bits" …Jeff has written a blog post articulating how we intend to make the transition if we feel there is a consensus to go in this direction.

Agreed.

Bits are not perfect but are better than using bitcoin

Can't remember any serious talks about 1k before SR crash and that would be / was much more crazy than 10k talks are now. IMO.

I pulled a bold prediction from the crates; a year old this week!

$2500 by May 1st, 2014

If it was not for Silkroad, Mt Gox and China, that sounds like a good estimate
1852  Economy / Speculation / Re: Got to keep reminding myself ... on: May 02, 2014, 06:11:56 AM
If we have to wait then so be it.  Self-entitlement is a dangerous mindset.  The next step is selling.
1853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My 30th birthday - Me & Bitcoin since 2010 on: May 02, 2014, 05:52:49 AM
Happy Birthday.

What do you seen the best business opportunities being for newcomers?
1854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: THE REAL reason why BTC has a slow adoptive rate on: May 02, 2014, 05:35:04 AM
It is because bitcoin is so revolutionary.  You cannot compare the adoption of bitcoin to things like smart phones because they just aren't that ground-breaking enough.  Comparing the adoptive rate of bitcoin and cars or TV would be a better measure.
1855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wasn't there BBC bitcoin documentary as well recently? on: May 02, 2014, 05:31:48 AM
It is going mainstream!!!

Cannot believe I am saying this, but this could be a good alt coin opportunity
1857  Economy / Speculation / Re: My First Bitcoin Spam, early adoption indeed! on: May 01, 2014, 07:04:57 PM
I don't feel early, knowing what the price has been. But logically, yeah, we all are. Even a year from now people will still be "early". It's just hard to grok.
People sometimes need to take a look at the charts and realise every spike gets dwarfed by the next spike.  20 years time we will look back at the 2013 spike and just barely be able to make it out.
1858  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In a bitcoin society! What is the role of banks? on: May 01, 2014, 04:51:01 PM
Unfortunately they will play a large and similar role to what they do today.  The only difference will be they will issue wallets instead of bank accounts.  The mainstreamers do not want to move away from banks.

you mean banks will have your bicoin wallets...what for?

why cant people transact directly to your wallet
People do not want that.  You can access your wallet through their website, an ATM or bank branch.  It will be kept simple for the masses.
1859  Economy / Speculation / Re: My First Bitcoin Spam, early adoption indeed! on: May 01, 2014, 04:45:43 PM
We are all innovators - bitcoin is slowly entering the early adopter phase.
