1163  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitPay is FREE for MERCHANTS - How they finance they business? on: August 04, 2014, 02:50:59 PM
At the current stage, what is important is dominance over the market.
Like I have said before, bitcoin isn't very important, and it's just a start of a new scene of open sourced monetary systems. Services like bitpay, are the best way to make money with cryptos. Bitpay isn't dependent of bitcoin and it's success. If a better crypto will emerge and bitcoin will shrivel and die, then bitpay can just change cryptos and continue business as usual. And this is important, because the fall of bitcoin is highly probable, but the fall of the entire crypto scene is highly improbable.

Bitpay is just planning long-term, with securing it's place as the dominant market leader in a newly forming field of payment services. Offering free service is a smart move to accomplish this goal.

Yup you are right.  It is a combination of aggressive plans to maximize market share, build barriers to entry and make money from a freemium business model.  It will be interesting to observe whether this a has a positive or negative effect on Bitcoin's adoption
1164  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will be the top of 2014? on: August 04, 2014, 02:48:50 PM
Why do people keep asking these questions? Nobody knows. They knew, they would not tell.
Welcome to speculation  Wink

This thread has escalated quickly!   Tongue

But in all seriousness, I see no need to donate my money whatsoever  Lips sealed

thanks Justus. this is big. I'm eagerly waiting for the day the documents about alleged market manipulation will be published.

tl;dr Jon Matonis Executive Director of The Bitcoin Foundation accused to manipulate the market through "The Exante Fund".

FYI the author have deleted the article from medium.com platform, strange.

Justus do you have any more info?
No, I found the link on Reddit and posted it here because it looked interesting.

I don't know what to think about the accusations.
It is taken down now - does anyone have a copy?
1167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARGENTINA COULD BE THE 1ST COUNTRY USING BITCOIN AS OFFICIAL CURRENCY on: August 04, 2014, 02:37:28 PM
I think it is more likely that the government would create their own alt coin than adopt bitcoin
1168  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Limit. on: August 04, 2014, 02:31:43 PM
There will be a moment that there isn't that much new money comming in, supply will be the same while demand is decreasing.

I'm not even sure if there is new money comming in right now as people already have bought their Bitcoins, and now are waiting for a rise.
Yup it's quite scary to have no new money when there are so many Bitcoins coming on to the market.  I do feel though that when clearer regulation is made, some investments that would have gone into Bitcoin startups will go into Bitcoin directly instead.
1169  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 04, 2014, 09:30:54 AM
Are we waiting for a catalyst (like Amazon accepts Bitcoin etc.) or are we expecting these to take off for no apparent reason?
1170  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 03, 2014, 04:28:11 PM
Does anyone else think this recent dip was caused by people getting bored of waiting for a rally?  I am sure there were many people who needed to sell coins at the start of July but were hesitant to do so in case the rally did actually happen.  Now that it has not happened, people have no qualms about selling Bitcoin for the fiat they need?

You could have done a much better job explaining what Bitcoin is haha.  But who am I to criticize?  At least you are talking to merchants about Bitcoin Smiley
1173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would you store >100 Bitcoins? on: August 03, 2014, 04:02:56 PM
I would just do 10 paper wallets with 10 Bitcoins in each - there is no real need to diversify wallet types, just diversify the coins
Quantity won't help. 1 good cold storage wallet should do fine.
They will be safe. I never split up my coins unless I have to.
You do not really gain any diversification by not splitting up coins
1174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Social Sharing Site Reddit Seeks ‘Cryptocurrency Engineer’ on: August 03, 2014, 04:00:47 PM
Interesting that they don't put experience with cryptos as a differential.

Think they don't expect many people with this kind of experience?
I guess they are more interested in start-up engineers rather than alt coin developers.  Makes sense.

Why is it so insecure to write down the private key and leave it in a bank vault or safe?
1177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hack generator dude must be a kid on: August 03, 2014, 01:31:55 PM
I'm a bit annoyed by this. I'm just not even sure how people even fall for these anymore, after learning what Bitcoin is.
I guess that we just have to keep reporting his videos together.
Yes there is not anything more to do than report his videos. It's ironic that Youtube allows these videos but removes education Bitcoin videos  Roll Eyes

Question for those who have been through multiple bubbles:  Does it always feel like the next bubble is never going to arrive?  Because that is what it feels like right now!
