"Blah blah blah traders are idiots because i have no idea how to make money in this any market" - ShroomsKit - every single day in 2014 and 2015

He sold already which is patently obvious. It could be the right move if we dart lower in a weekend dip and he buys back in. He'll probably fuck it up and then moan endlessly.

Someone still has to tell me why history should repeat itself now that price is 100X higher than what it was at the end of the 2011 bear market.

Because Bitcoin is the perfect exploit of the squirrel in man. Its utility beyond that is secondary. I mean, look at how gold is hoarded. Underground vaults stacked with bars, what utility do they possibly hold? Anyway, if history repeats it will be 35X.  Tongue

Bitcoin has no utility if its price goes to 0.  It will just be another random byte of data floating in cyberspace.

Conversely, even if gold goes to 0, it has industrial uses in electrical components and heat conduction.  Same with silver.    So not sure where that comparison stems.

Bitcoin is limited supply and has superior sound money properties to the metals.

USD interest for swaps fallen dramatically. Cost for btc still 0.04 and shorts still over 23k.

No interest in selling the price lower so far.

My prediction is that the small bears try to stab the price down lower then find a lack of follow through selling.

Everyone who was going to sell apart from the handful of traders on here did long ago.

We have a few months of gradual recovery interspersed with surges upwards.

I love how you guys show comparisons of a chart when the price was $2.00 vs now when the price is $200 dollars.

Forgetting that if bitcoin rises a hundred dollars now then that is a $100 dollars everyone gets for their bitcoin if they sold. Like that amount of money is going to just flow into bitcoin to buy your expensive, but practically useless bitcoins.

The price is so going to go down. Already volume is dropping and price is falling, not good signs at all.

You must remember the 2 dollar chart well Edward50. You were convincing people on here in 2011 to sell in expectation of 1 dollar bitcoins. The price then rose by a factor of 500.

You seem to have a knack for being an excellent contrarian indicator.
1865  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does it reminds you something? on: January 17, 2015, 01:58:30 AM
Relative volume on Bitfinex needs to take its growth into consideration - during the bubble its volume was pathetic. You really need to look at cumulative volume. Bitcoin Average compiles volume from exchanges with non-0% fees: https://bitcoinaverage.com/charts#USD-volumes-all

Certainly high volume and a bottom for now, but it's by no means the biggie.

Just looked at the link. It actually is the biggest volume spike in the short range that bitcoinaverage records (just over a year). Thanks for confirming OP's observation.
1866  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 16, 2015, 11:51:39 PM
I personally picked up a lot of coins at the bottom and sold them again at 210-230. All that money now is going into silver and gold, just like the last few months. I'm already seeing crazy profits there.
Only a few delusional bulls are still buying coins because they think we will go up again. Poor guys.

So you have sold and now want the price to drop.

Delete your account if bitcoin is over.
1867  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 16, 2015, 10:08:14 PM
yeah let this speculative sh*t drop until mass adoption and solid services are confirmed.

Will probably be replaced by something better very soon anyway. Many big guns alts waiting in the dark, each ten times better than bitcoin.

Finally done the needful. Welcome to ignore.
1868  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's always sharp dips on: January 16, 2015, 06:06:13 PM
At this point most of the panic is gone. Which is a good thing.

Whales are trying to trigger panic sellers by dumping +2K BTC in one go, but again it's recovering quickly and stays above $200.

Bitcoin is sold down way too much. It won't stay like this for long.

If you review the markets thoroughly then it's almost certain that some big players are accumulating.

Just wait until later today. It will be mayhem in a few hours from now.
I put quite a few short options, should cover me for the rest of the year.

Ha!
1869  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 16, 2015, 06:04:43 PM
I've not been watching today, but I would imagine that without the invisible hand dumping things down the market will change now.
1870  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 16, 2015, 05:56:44 PM
Look at yourself, you've been swimming in this delusion for almost a year now, telling everyone it is a good time to buy and how you feel this is maybe the launch and about how your guts feel it...BTW, did you pray today so your lord can save you from your ignorance ?

Oh sod off you miserable twit.

You add literally nothing but a negative attitude to this forum.

Inb4 Karpeles is Satoshi.
Bitcoin would go to 1 cent if this was true.
Everything makes sense now.

Karpeles made Bitcoin so he could launder his money through a online drug site. The site would grow popular due to its ability to not need a middle man, this would appeal to drug dealers, Karpeles target market. Next his site gets busted. He hires a frontman (Ross) to take the blame so he can work on plan B: Attack of the Willy bot. Using funds from SR and user
deposits he pumped BTC to 1200. Then he will cash out his funds and use that to deepen the rabbit whole. He would tip off newsweek to get crazy jorno's after Dorian Nakamoto while Karpeles Sataoshi escapes. He would play dumb so no one would expect him. He was an idiot fat kid, no one would suspect he was the master mind behind one of the most disruptive technologies ever.

Yeah...

All that matters today is 200 holding

1874  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dead Cat Bounce? on: January 16, 2015, 10:31:01 AM
probably yes like the one happened before this dump

What scares me is the situation where everyone starts to expect dead cat bounces. What would happen then? The crashes would get even deeper and bounces would shrink into one giant crash to the bottom? Cheesy

If everyone expects them then someone will trade against it bringing pain to those who position for it..

Fair enough, I was completely unaware the richest and most powerful people in the world got to where they are by investing in checks I stand corrected. So to clarify do you think people investing in Bitcoin today are a) the moronic victims of the last stage of a ponzi or b) the new elites!

God forbid you ever run a business outside of your little dreamworld mate!

1) You have no idea what the people on this forum do either for a living or their general wealth. You might be surprised.

2) The richest and most powerful people in the world got where they were by being ruthless and not playing by the rules.

3) Bitcoin is nothing like a cheque. Cheque's are not algorithmically limited by design, nor freely transmitted anywhere on the globe in an instant.
1877  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 15, 2015, 11:02:15 PM

The Homeland Security agent’s theory was that Karpeles, as owner of Mt. Gox, held an enormous amount of Bitcoin. He used Silk Road to leverage that price and raise it, which it did by several hundred times over during the course of Silk Road’s lifespan. Bitcoin was worth around $2 at Silk Road's launch and hit as high as $290 by 2013.

What the hell do they mean by "leverage that price and raise it"?
Can anyone here come up with a scenario how keeping gox money at silk road could have raised the price?

Well he knew how to do perfect trades (and he had tons of btc - probably more than 200k), he was the CEO after all. So he was in complete control of the price for years. Why do you think we have been going down for more than a year after gox collapsed? Because Mark is gone. That is the main reason.

Jesus. Sometimes I actually think you lot believe this crap. Gox has been gone for months. It was what 10% of trading volume in the November 2013 bubble? The price has been supported by demand since. It is no coincidence the chart shows a typical bubble and deflation. The only question was how low would we go. Leverage took us lower than many expected.

Interesting how short swaps continue to rise up to 26000 now. Either the hammer comes down again or shorts will burn.

It is common knowledge that big miners have VC funding of millions of dollars. I don't think they are going broke any time soon.

Yes, this bottom looks like the October one and it is AT LEAST a medium term bottom.

Pull up bitcoinwisdom and look at finex or stamp on a longer timeframe chart (say 6 hours) and zoom out. Look at the volume! Now compare it with the bottom at 275.

Its difficult to say because this one today isn't complete.

*edit

I might be going blind, but am I the only person seeing the volume spike to 100,000 this time with peak volume at 20,000 in October?
