1862  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitcoinPaperWallet.com apparently a scam on: February 25, 2021, 06:00:05 PM
It's something known by people for about 10 months. The owner who bought the site 2 years ago modified the code, so the back door was here since the new ownership since the last change in the code was in 2018.
By the way, he also owns walletgenerator

1863  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BITGILD.com - Bitcoin to Gold || LIVE CHARTS - BITCOIN TO GOLD || on: February 25, 2021, 01:19:54 PM

I knew there is currently a high demand for gold and silver but didn't expect it will take more time with Bitgild, especially since there was no notice and when I asked they told me they would ship my items about Wednesday this week.
I'm aware the situation is the same with almost every website selling gold/silver that accepts Bitcoin. Some of them are out of stock for most coins, or there is a 1 month period to wait, or they literally stopped accepting new orders for international shipping.

If I had known it would take so long I would have placed my order at a quieter time.
The worst thing is that with this delay I'm not even sure I can be there to receive my order. and choosing the UPS point pick up delivery won't change anything since I won't be around  Undecided

How it's going to work if I'm not here to receive the order? UPS sends it back to you after xx days. Then, how do you deal with it?

Edit: I just got a second email with the shipping details. So, sent as they said.
Thank you
1864  Other / Meta / Re: [HELP] Is there a way to integrate Twitter and Bitcointalk? on: February 24, 2021, 08:48:17 PM
To make it 100% automated you would need to create an RSS of your profile (last posts page) and link the RSS link to your Twitter account, either via IFTTT, Zapier, Dlvr, ect.
I used a website that creates an RSS for almost any page but I can't remember the name. You can surely find similar websites with a search engine.

Not 100% automated.
If it doesn't bother you to make 1 click on a browser addon then you can give it a try to Buffer. Once you added your Twitter account and installed the addon, each time you click on the icon it will post the current page you're on to your Twitter account.
Similar services are Hootsuite and Dlvr and all have a free version.

What's not enough with @mprep solution?

1866  Local / Débutants / Re: Quantbitex scam on: February 24, 2021, 03:26:59 PM

https://www.trustpilot.com/review/quantbitex.com

Not sure about this...
I registered and promptly received a call from customer support, firmly instructing me to install TeamViewer to assist me set up my account and link my wallet to it.
The gentleman with an Indian accent insisted it is "Company Policy" for this procedure.
I hung up and blocked the number.
Am I too paranoid?
Dunno...
Anyone else with a similar experience ?

1 year anniversary has officially passed, for those who wonder what happened exactly, this could very well be the reason of all that crap: https://www.offshorecorptalk.com/threads/epayments-may-have-a-hidden-agenda-be-warned.27167/
 Cry

I have read the 5 pages of the discussion on Offshorecorptalk and it's all about a conspiracy theory from some people who think it was a honeypot to collect personal information to put on sale on the dark web.
Seriously?
Considering the consequences, not any AEMI company regulated would take the risk, even if it was real, that's a costly manner to collect PII
1868  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [List] Bitcoin Savings Accounts Providing Interest on: February 23, 2021, 08:19:20 PM
Banks are highly regulated, while it is the Wild West when it comes to the above companies accepting crypto deposits. In the US, bank deposits are also insured against loss due to the bank being unable to pay their deposit holders up to certain amounts, and this is not true for the above companies.

Do you think a bank might have enough to refund all the customers if something bad happens? Nah, the "insured funds" is what I call a marketing trick to make people believe they're safe while in fact, they're not totally.

Also, I don't know how it works in the U.S. in such a case but if it's like in my country, the funds are insured by the government not the bank.
So imagine a bank going bankrupt, it's the government that will inject some money to make this insurance works. And from where will this money come? Taxes or borrowed money from banks.

I see your point and it's surely available for most of the websites listed but there are exceptions like Nexo.io or Bitwala. The company is licensed and regulated and manages 4 or 5 billion in assets, so I would say it's not a 'wannabe lending platform like freebitco.in. Bitwala has a banking license in Germany.
I have always found it funny to see people using freebitco.in as a saving account. It's like if you have money to invest and instead to visit your banker you visit your baker.

I'm sure we will see more websites like Nexo.io, with licenses and regulations, like IRL. The time of BTCJam is gone long ago

1871  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: 🔴CRYPTO-LICENSES IN ESTONIA🔴 on: February 23, 2021, 04:32:28 PM
As far as my research shown, the problem is NOT getting license or setting up a company, the problem is to get BANKS to work with you. I got my licence with no issues with estonia-company.ee. Actually Estonia is the best and easy place to initiate a startup in cryptocurrency related business. Even if you are non resident you can get online residency to start your project.

Entrepreneurs with the e-residence card usually work with the neobanks like Bunq, TransferWise, N26, etc. On the government website, they advise some payment processors as well if I remember correctly.
But it's true opening a bank account can be a problem, despite the fact the government has authorized the opening of remote bank accounts. It's due to the KYC/AML in Europe. The only choice is to visit the country.

The e-Residency program had a partnership with Holvi so it was no longer a problem but since last year they closed new registration for e-resident customers https://support.holvi.com/hc/en-gb/articles/115005937589

1873  Economy / Speculation / Re: One of the best times to buy would be probably be around now. on: February 23, 2021, 03:11:45 PM

Same story every year in March when Bitcoin has mostly declined (with different causes each year). So it's highly possible to see a correction in the following weeks. Considering this I would agree with the OP. I would say it's the best period of the year for anyone looking to accumulate more bitcoins. But hoping it doesn't go the same way it was going in 2018 otherwise people will lose money.
I strongly believe to see the trend continuing we need to keep receiving news such as Tesla, Microstrategy, etc buying bitcoins. Otherwise th hype will fade soon or later

At the same time:

However over the last two weeks, this wallet class appears to be 'reducing holdings'. Is this new sell pressure? Are institutions getting spooked or taking profits? A few interesting occurrences on-chain are presented in the points, table and charts below to help answer this question.
1874  Local / Économie et spéculation / Re: Or valeur refuge - Ou, quand, comment on: February 23, 2021, 02:06:29 PM
Pourquoi?

Look like I'm the only one but the PM didn't appear to be a serious demand to me.
It's was his way to say he has no time and doesn't want to be bothered with the case of his feedback given. If you would have asked him how much for the fee, he would have probably answered something like $1 million to be sure you'll never accept.
1876  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-02-21 Insider - Americans are becoming increasingly bullish on crypto on: February 22, 2021, 05:59:14 PM
Notice the fact that half of them don't understand cryptocurrency, half of them are not interested to invest in it.

The article says half of them see Bitcoin as a "safe investment" but I checked the survey's result from Pipslay's website (posted below) and it says otherwise. Either they think cryptocurrency has more risks than stocks and a half think both have the same risks. It says nowhere they see it as a safe investment.

A safe investment is an investment in which the capital is somehow 'protected' from devaluation/volatility resulting in losing some of the capital injected at the start.
Not even talking about the question asking what about cryptocurrency worries the most with the replies: fear of hack/fraud, lack of regulations/knowledge, and volatility.

I would have liked to know the results by age group, so I would have excluded the millennials.

1877  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [LIST] Free EU bank accounts that you can be opened directly online on: February 22, 2021, 04:54:29 PM
My experience with Bunq. My bank is not cryptofriendly so I had to use something in a middle to topup Binance with fiat. I have sent 100 and 500 eur instantly. After I sent 5000 euro and my account was blocked. Normally bank should have asked for documents to prove that funds are coming from the legal source. Not the case with Bunq. Not sure if they ever will refund my 5000 euro.

Perfect, if you wanted to see them freezing your account. 5 000€ is exactly what was needed  Cheesy

On a serious note, you can be sure they will refund the full amount because it is mandatory. They have no right to keep the funds, even if you don't provide a document explaining the source of the funds. It's like this with any banks (at least in Europe)
Now the next step, since your account is dead, they're supposed to contact you to ask for the IBAN from another bank to send you your balance before closing your account.
It's something that can easily take 30 days
1878  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Unable to trade because of my nationality on: February 22, 2021, 09:59:31 AM
The person above is right, there are plenty of exchanges around, so why only focusing on Binance?
I checked Kraken's website for example, and there is nothing about restrictions for people from Sudan or living in Ukraine. It's almost the same with Bitfinex and Bitstamp, I found nothing mentioning such.

A radical method would be to use the type of exchange in which you don't even need to create an account (a list of examples can be found here) or a decentralized exchange with fiats options like Bisq or why not a marketplace like Localcryptos.
You have a lot of alternatives...

Perhaps if you would have used your resident card visa instead of your passport you would have had better luck I think. But in any case it is not really advisable to use a VPN, better safe than sorry.
1879  Local / Économie et spéculation / Re: Or valeur refuge - Ou, quand, comment on: February 22, 2021, 09:20:57 AM

1880  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [List] Bitcoin Savings Accounts Providing Interest on: February 21, 2021, 08:59:58 PM
The problem with all of these services is that you are giving up control of your private keys, so you are trusting the service not to run away with your coin, or let a hacker run away with your coin. If you are receiving interest for your deposit, the service is also obviously lending out your coin to other customers, which means you are also risking that borrowers will not repay the service in large enough quantities that the service cannot repay you.

It's the same with the banks when we receive our salary on a deposit account. We are giving up the control to them. Yet we still use these banks. Something bad could happen like a hacker infecting your app successfully, the bank goes bankrupt, etc.
The problem is the same when people store their coins in centralized exchanges, despite all the warnings not to do it. As you can see people don't care
They provide a service, of course, we have to trust them a bit, the same way we have to trust the banks if we want to use their services

As for the risk of the borrower not repaying the loan, I don't all of them but some have a collateral system so if the person decides to not repay or if the value of the collateral decrease too much compared to the loan, the lender is secured because the collateral is liquidated.
