1341  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best decentralized exchange? on: October 19, 2021, 04:08:31 PM
According to the new US boycott that cryptocurrency wallets and exchanges must apply some limitation against their users from the specific countries, then which wallets and exchanges are OK and no need KYC?

Hello!

Located in The US or not most centralized exchanges platforms nowadays require the KYC/AML bullshit. @mk4 gave you some good suggestions.

As for the wallet, any non-custodial wallet can do the job and nothing like Coinbase & co. Since with a custodial wallet, it is a company that holds your money, you have no choice but to abide by American (or another country) laws

A non-custodial wallet (for example Electrum, Metamask, there are many), you have your private keys and therefore access to your funds and do whatever you want. For example, if you downloaded Electrum wallet, what they can do? Knock-knock at your door and ask to check your PC to check if you have a wallet installed.

Non-custodial wallets are the middle finger to their bullshit.
1342  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixer Bitwhisk.io seized by the FBI on: October 18, 2021, 09:37:27 PM

1) Because a site is seized doesn't mean they arrested the owner.
2) If the domain name is owned by someone else, they can't seize the website/domain

if you get many reports of scam they usually seize the site.

They may not be able to collect more data. Either because the server doesn't store data for a lifetime and they clean every x months. Or if you mean to keep the website alive to catch more, then it's not possible otherwise they'll have to run the website for a lifetime. It means the investigation will never end, and the agency becomes the website owner. What people will say if the FBI runs a Bitcoin mixer?
1343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Privacy vs. anonymity on: October 18, 2021, 06:49:11 PM
There are some points people don't get it.

There is information you agree to share and there is information you really want private. Privacy is not only about your name, address, IP,... (Data mining can teach you a lot of things.)
Since we all have different lifestyles, we have different expectations

You may find it acceptable to give out your phone number or address if you're supposed to receive an item. The delivery man needs your address of course. If you don't find it acceptable then go out yourself and go to the shop to buy it, or use deliveries boxes, etc...
On the other side, you may refuse to give your phone numbers to some persons ( a very ugly woman for example).

Since a lot of people use Youtube... You may find it acceptable to be "tracked" if you want to receive tailored recommendations. Do you know what I mean? The videos on the right or on the homepage. By the way, even when you watch TV and your national channels you're tracked. Surprised? You shouldn't, it's old

There are some things you absolutely don't want to be private or anonymous.
Who is interested to be anonymous with his insurance car Cheesy How will they refund you if it was possible? Oh, we have to replace the car of Mr X but we don't know who's he...

There is information you agree that your wife is aware of and the one you don't want at any cost.

People criticize centralized exchanges (including me) but yet they use banks LOL. Do you see the irony? I don't even remember the last time I used a CEX but I can tell you since I stopped I'm feeling much better. I do some trades on a decentralized P2P plateform (and a real one, I mean not a hybrid like Binance or Localbitcoin) Yes I do need to send my personal information, but like I said there is information you agree to share and others not. The funny thing is I feel safer sending my information to a stranger on Bisq than knowing my information is stored on a company server that can be hacked at any time.

We have an alternative for almost anything to stay private but let's be honest. We are either lazy or don't find the alternatives efficient.

I remember someone saying something like:
Decades ago, we were ready to pay a high amount to get information public. Nowadays, we are ready to pay a high amount to get information private

(great topic by the way, hopefully it stays clean)

1345  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase, how to contact support on: October 18, 2021, 01:18:33 PM
Not a habit but it can simply be a wallets synchronization problem.
Their phone system is only for the users who want to lock their accounts when they see something unusual. It's an automated system by the way, so you will have no luck using it.

Don't they have a contact form for logged-in users? They were famous for their canned replies
If not then you will have no choice to try con reach someone on Twitter or Reddit. I know you can DM @CoinbaseSupport on Twitter

1347  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-10-12] BitPay Partners with Wix Enabling Wix Merchants to Accept Crypto on: October 15, 2021, 08:00:26 PM

We have to accept the fact that they don't really have the choice. They abide by the laws, otherwise, they wouldn't be able to run their business.
It's like the exchange platforms, why not boycott them?
If they had the choice, they probably wouldn't force people with the KYC/AML bullshit. It represents time, money, and resources saved.

AS for the news, it allows Wix's users to have an option to pay with cryptocurrency on their e-commerce website. The thing is, almost nobody uses Wix nowadays. Ok, I exaggerate a bit but It's a long time since I've to see e-commerce powered by Wix

You have a point, but the moment customers see them as the only BTCitcoin processor, most of them [assuming that they're not a newcomer] would probably just switch to other options or platforms instead.

I don't think. People don't give a fuck. All they want is to get what they want to buy
1348  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixer Bitwhisk.io seized by the FBI on: October 15, 2021, 07:44:56 PM
@leea

When they make an announcement, it's too late. They have already everything they need including the servers and its data (that's mean customers IPs and much more)

When Bestmixer has been seized in 2019, they started to investigate 1 year before. In fact, it started 1 month after the launch of the mixer. So we can say since the begining. They collected 1 year of email support, BTC addresses, IPs, transaction details,...
I remember months later they arrested a guy with a ton of cash, BTC wallets, luxury watches, and IICRC gold

1351  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixer Bitwhisk.io seized by the FBI on: October 14, 2021, 10:31:27 PM
What if it was the FBI who bought the domain all along after the first shutdown just to net some money launderers? Grin

Or the scammer, after scamming a huge amount, is just trying to play games to make people think that the website was seized yet it's just their way of exiting the scam.

Ah ah, I wouldn't be surprised coming from The US since the IRS Goes Undercover as A Bitcoin Trader

If it's a scam exit it doesn't make really sense. I mean if the goal is to scam, the scammer should let the website alive to scam more until the domain name expires or until it doesn't worth keeping it online. That's what they usually do.
Or he scammed so much that he was happy with it and decided to get some fun?

Bestmixer was seized by a European agency, Bitwhisk domain displays an American agency. I doubt they have the same devs
I believe there is no strict decision on what to do. If you look for other examples of seized domains, you can see several different designs.

and some looking like Bestmixer are also used by US agencies, perhaps when there is a collaboration with Europe, I didn't check all of them but
for example, Wikipedia has an example

1354  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitcoin mixer Bitwhisk.io seized by the FBI on: October 14, 2021, 07:42:34 PM
Some may remember this mixer (bitwhisk.io). For the others, it was a mixer that decided to stop its activities about 3 years ago (see here). Sometime later, the site had been taken over to make a scam (see here)

Today, I wanted to scrap some SERP and revisited the domain name and this is what you can see when you access the site.

I wondered if it was not fake. Like some people, it reminds me about Bestmixer which has really been seized by Interpol and the Deutch (2 years ago) and it had more or less the same page.

However it seems that this background is not unique, I remember having seen this homepage style before. I found other sites with more or less the same image/text

It could be that the FBI was after bitwhisk.io, but by the time they catch it, the domain had changed ownership. What do you think?

1355  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-10-10] Iran's power company warns of cuts due to illegal crypto mining on: October 14, 2021, 04:57:55 PM
The funny thing is the 'illegal crypto miners' could actually mine BTC legally. It's rather because the Iran government wants to control the electricity and indirectly, the miners. In other words, you're illegal if you're a freelance, but you're legal if you follow the government.

If they really have so many uncontrolled outages, I guess they have very shitty infrastructures. Otherwise, it means the country is very very very poor

Come to Europe, actually, it's the best time, you will also see a major problem with the electricity market. It's all over the news everyday.
I think more of them are stealing electricity for mining, so a lot of electricity is not available without a charge for this to happen

No, It' because you need to get a license to mine cryptocurrency there, and the persons didn't have any. If they were stealing electricity, it's something the Iran government wouldn't forget to scream.
If you read the article, it says they had access to subsidised electricity

Additionally, they said 10% or 20% (I don't remember since) of electricity outages this winter will be caused by their 'illegal BTC miners'
10%, It is very small in reality. It is mostly a trick from the government to find another 'bad guy' and to avoid being criticized

1358  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcointalk Forum, Do You Know About the Site Binomo? on: October 12, 2021, 04:05:41 PM
Looking quickly on a search engine, it doesn't look good.
It's full of fake reviews and spammy blog posts from shitty websites just created for Binomo.

If the site is legit, I can say they really suck with their marketing strategy and the guys in charge of it should be fired without a notice....

This said I found this comment, which looks more accurate on how Binomo really works. So instead of rehashing the same argument, I post it here

Quote
Is Binomo a legitimate/safe binary options broker?
NO!!!

There are multiple reasons why you should not touch Binomo with even a pole:

- First and foremost - it is very much a casino. And the one true rule in a casino is that the house always wins. The chart that they show for Crypto IDX or other currency charts are detailed till the 8th decimal. You can never check that data from outside. Hence you cannot check if the chart that is being shown to you in real time is real or fake. In most cases, it is fake and is manipulated based on the amount of money you have put in the trade. Check their definition of Crypto IDX and you will know it takes 4 bitcoin currencies into account and also their respective liquidities into play (making the index tough to analyze or predict) or even check against any real market instrument.

- Discrepancy in demo and real trading accounts. Yes, they provide a demo trading account in which you place virtual money on bets. In demo trading you will win 8/10 times but as soon as you switch to real money, they will make sure that you never win and keep losing your capital.

- For people who think these are similar to options in NSE - the explanation is: In options contract, there are 2 parties involved - one who buys and one who sells the option contract. So if you win, you get the money that the other person paid for the contract. But here, you are betting against Binomo on the chart that is controlled by Binomo to win money from Binomo. Now think about the odds of that happening. Why would Binomo want you to win in that case, when it has the power to control the charts.

- I am telling you these after experiencing the platform first hand. I was lucky as I was able to figure out their tactics with just a small loss of 600 Rupees. I took multiple trades, and while I was able to win money on trades with 70–100 Rs. As soon as you put more money, you lost that trade. Also, people trading at different locations reported different values on the charts, which clarified all my doubts that the CHARTS ARE MANIPULATED.

So a piece of advice: pls dont try this platform to make quick bucks. You will mostly end up wasting your time, money and peace of mind. Any reviews/promotions on Youtube or other platforms are just adverts intended to lure more people in on this casino. There is a reason why the Indian govt. does not want to get involved with these apps, and I think that’s a smart move.

Also another warning, if for some reason you are not able to get money out of the platform using withdrawals, you do not have any recourse against them. You cannot file any official complaint against them in India, as they are not regulated by any trading body in the country. So for your own safety, keep away fellas. Peace!!!

Salut @guigui371
