It is STILL overpriced.

I disagree. Keep in mind the cost of hardware, electricity, and most prominently, time.

There are theories that the value of bonds will go down with the block reward drop, which I am also starting to disagree with.
I can easily see Bitcoin trading at $10 at the end of the year, which puts the ROI (if measured in dollars) at the same place.
Even if we're still trading at $5 a coin, without a mass introduction of ASICs by the reward drop in December the difficulty will drop significantly and ROI should remain the same.

Either way, the situation is a win-win for both investors and issuers.
1904  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Mini Rig Box on: June 15, 2012, 06:51:03 AM
But due to the upcoming next gen with1,4 gh/s the additional cooling became obsolete and we canceled the project.
Its intended for me to come back with the ASIC generation, as there overclocking by good temperatures becomes interesting again.

Do we know more info about this? Is the ASIC the 4th gen, or is there another FPGA Single that's going to be faster before they release the ASIC?
The Mini Rig contains an improved version of the  single.

17 cards at 1.5GH/s, right? Are these improved versions going to be in rev4 of the Single?

it also use 50% less power ?

mini =25.2GH/s = 1250 watts

30 x singles = 25GH/s  = 2403 watts

Surprise! The mini rig is actually an ASIC smaller than a single, and a space heater in a big box.

If anyone wants to do this, they may be able to learn something from the Pirate Box project:

+1, really cool project.

Indeed. I always have at least two in stock Tongue

looking to buy any BFL singles for 131 btc + Shipping.

With same stipulations, must not throttle, if so let me know. Thanks.

First of all, THREADJACK

Secondly, if I'm buying the best Singles for 150, who's going to sell to you for 131 and some change?

Just a lesson in forum etiquette Wink

Re-adjusted price to 151 btc. Smiley

To all gigaminers:

I have been authorized to share some photos of the soon to arrive mini rigs! BFL has informed me that during their testing of the mini rigs, they needed to use a different PSU to make sure the mini rigs are as stable as the singles. Although BFL has delayed the shipment of the mini rigs, I would rather have them deliver a stable product that just works.

Looks like they'll be shipping by the weekend.

Best,
gigavps

1909  Other / Off-topic / Re: Mini Rig announcement by Butterfly Labs - 25gh/s on: June 15, 2012, 03:25:06 AM
Does anyone actually own one of these things? I'd love to buy one or two of them if I could actually see what they look like and get a detailed breakdown of whats inside.

None have shipped so far they claim that the reason they have shipped so few of the single units over the last couple of weeks is to work on getting these out the door plus they supposedly have big ASIC announcement due on the 15th of June that makes these machines obsolete.

Dillgaf, nobody ever said such a thing.  Quite the opposite, actually.  We have two distinctly separate production lines.  The singles are shipping in volume again and have been for some time.

Believe it was BFL-engineer who said that in one of the threads and if by volume you mean next to no one on this board reporting much for shipping of their singles to them then yeah you must be shipping tons of them.

Mr. FUD at it again.

Are the only people who mine BTC registered on the forums? Do they all have to register here before they can install the bitcoin client? Do you have BFL's client list and know that only people registered on the forums buy singles or mini rigs?

You would be wise to moderate yourself. If you need to take your anger out on someone, maybe you should look in the mirror.

Bitter little troll yet again eh? Well it is certainly not FUD that you are not paying your bonds out of a 200gh/s farm which you don't have and I notice did not reply to that question when I asked it, again just another chime in to spread your personal attack on me once more.

If you create an asset and sell X Ymh/s bonds, and don't actually have any mining hardware but still pay out what you should, who cares?

Also,

Double negative, so you're arguing against yourself Tongue

I decided not to wait and started to buy Singles directly from people who already own them Smiley

They haven't been shipped out yet. They look awesome and are essentially a bunch of next gen Singles in a box Smiley

will sell one for 165 - 896MH/s - currently runs between 38-45C - does not throttle. You're welcome to login to mpbm and see it at work.

I bought one from SgtSpike for 150. Because yours is one of the better ones, I will buy yours for that too.

162.5 for one shipped in USA  Smiley

Give me the stats like the above post, and I'll make an offer for yours too.
1914  Economy / Securities / Re: Motions Raised! Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive on [GLBSE] on: June 14, 2012, 05:41:03 PM
Kluge contacted me requesting a revote, and being the majority shareholder he is he could have demanded one, but he knew I would definitely support a revote. Not paying the mega dividend will benefit Cognitive immensely.
1915  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How intense is the network traffic when mining? on: June 14, 2012, 08:19:45 AM
Traffic is almost 0. It is very insignificant. It will rise with your hashrate, but again, it will still be insignificant and you won't run into any problems on a limited plan.
1916  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Bitdust - Make your bitdust work for you on: June 14, 2012, 07:28:48 AM
I like the above idea -- even more liquidity.

Good approach to a mining bond though. Since this will be the only option for small investors in other assets until someone clones it, I'm sure you'll do well.
1917  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: June 14, 2012, 06:06:31 AM
Does anyone know why Giga and many other Mining bonds have lost around 20% of there value in the last few weeks.

Has a large investor pulled out?

I believe a large part of our current issues can be explained by the following asymmetry/inefficiency in the GLBSE market:

If I want to sell 1000 GIGAMINING bonds (or any other bond or stock) I can simply put in a sell order and it does not cost me anything.

However, if I want to buy 1000 GIGAMINING bonds (or any other bond or stock) I have to put up the full amount of BTC in order to place the order.  So for the entire time the buy order is in the book I have to tie up that amount of BTC.  So there is a cost, an opportunity cost, to placing buy orders.

So the bottom line is that it is easier to sell than to buy.  Until this issue is fixed the bids will always be lighter than asks and there will be an intrinsic bias toward selling and therefore and intrinsic downward pressure on prices.

Someone forward this to Nefario, I nag him enough.
1918  Economy / Marketplace / Re: ["WAIT LIST"] BFL Singles Order Date / Ship Date on: June 14, 2012, 05:55:39 AM
So no shipments today or yesterday.  Grr...  I guess Inaba can feel good that our bet only looked close.  They are going to miss the bet deadline by 3+ weeks.

Heh, I wouldn't've made a bet with the guy that talks in person to BFL daily Roll Eyes
