$750 gox available.
1342  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive on [GLBSE] on: September 23, 2012, 07:33:44 PM
Ngzhang has announced his new ASIC product, and it is currently the best offering so I believe we should invest in it.

Ngzhang is a trusted FPGA producer and is fully capable of delivering his product when he promises: Q1 2013.

For more information regarding his ASIC, see the thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=110090.0

I will be raising a motion today or tomorrow which will last one week.

Edit:
Here is a draft for the motion:
Quote
If this motion passes, 2550 shares will be issued at 0.62 BTC each to purchase ten Avalon ASICs, as seen here: http://avalon-asic.com/ These are currently the best priced ASICs and I believe it is the best choice at the moment. The ASICs are produced by a trusted FPGA producer known as ngzhang. Attaining ASICs from multiple sources is an excellent way to diversify and ultimately reduce risk. After this order and all other ASICs arrive, we will have a total hashrate of 880 GH/s. The operator will maintain his contractually granted 10% and receive 10% of the new shares.

How do you (or anyone) feel about diverting X% of dividends to a growth account to soften the dilution of shares from previous rounds of investment?

I think this is definitely a viable option, what would you say, about 25%?

And I feel similarly regarding the below, but we must also consider the fact that the earlier you purchase the higher the short-term return is (before the difficulty hike ~1 week after asics become massively used). It is also possible that BFL or another company will use the ASICs for themselves for some time and reap the rewards.
My opinion on the asic front is that none of these "companies" deserve a "pre-order" without a working prototype, pictures, press, and/or regulation. That's how real companies work. Even "companies" on Kickstarter show more responsibility than BFL has. Generally you balance out high risk stuff with low risk stuff, right? Rather than purchasing hardware that doesn't exist yet from three different sources, I'd rather see who delivers. Hopefully it's the one we already gave our money to.

That being said, it certainly is an exciting time for Bitcoin and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the next few months.

Coupons paid!

Total BTC: 62
Per Share: 0.00253061

Total mined to date: 1376
1345  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive on [GLBSE] on: September 22, 2012, 06:13:08 PM
Dividends have been paid!

Total BTC: 25.4165585
Per Share: 0.00322955

Total mined to date: 616.94570048

I'm looking into all of the new ASIC options, [Tycho]'s (DeepBit Owner's) specifically.

So shareholders: Should we wait until we see these things mining in the wild or raise some more capital to pre-order some now?

so if I am correct  - you will upgrade at some point and catch up with the trend.
And the upgrade will be free by default with an option to pay more and get even more.

Right ?

The upgrade plan is not official yet. What I am say is that if we do upgrade (which is likely) we will use a plan such as above.

I got the first ASIC order... but now I'm really thinking I should've got more than one Jalapeno Tongue

Yeah this has been tried by a number of people with no success. However: I remember reading that there was a certain component that nobody could get full use of, that would drastically improve performance.
1349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin or Bitcoin? How will a big company (or a rich dude) invest on: September 22, 2012, 02:32:14 AM
5% Gold bullion
10% silver bullion
60% bitcoin
25% litecoin

That's pretty much where I am, aside from the Gold. I don't have the money for gold yet Tongue

This was IF I was a rich dude or owned a big company.

Still though, 0% (practically next to 0%...) USD is a good thing Tongue I've been buying foreign currency lately, because my faith in the dollar is -- wait, I never haid faith in the dollar in my lifetime (after we left the gold standard).

jme621 is late because of pirate. He will be paying back on a late schedule which we have defined a few weeks ago.

I just sent him a PM asking for an update.
1353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin or Bitcoin? How will a big company (or a rich dude) invest on: September 22, 2012, 01:44:13 AM
If I had to invest at this very moment, I'd buy mostly Bitcoins and some Litecoins, because Litecoin is still an emerging market (more so than Bitcoin).

Right now it's best to wait until ASIC / other hardware has been released before jumping into mining; That said, mining is definitely the better long-term investment if you don't think BTC price is going to skyrocket soon.
1354  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: USD between MTGOX <--> DWOLLA on: September 22, 2012, 01:33:28 AM

I have $440 gox left, 1:1 only.

crap...too short...bonks i guess your not using the fans on the heat syncs? i should of went for taller...

Take the fans off of the heatsinks and put fans on the sides, like this: http://fpgamining.com/gallery/fizzisist

I guess you could repurpose the heatsink fans to make up most of the side fans if you have an abundance of zip-ties and the patience haha!

$880 gox available 1:1 only.

(Will have more when BTC hits 12.70 Tongue)

I love that kind of stuff, extremely interesting...take a look at this:

This is amazingly eye-opening. It's difficult to grasp that people are so manipulable, but this is backed by history... the most pertinent IMO being nazi Germany.

$571 gox available 1:1 only. see below.

EDIT:  Received 2.26 btc.  Curious how it got up to 2.26btc as I haven't read the whole thread

A few people have added it along the way. Feel free to contribute to the pot (increasing the likelihood of theft Tongue)
