1942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why RIPEMD-160 and SHA-256 used for Bitcoin addresses on: February 07, 2013, 09:09:38 PM
Probably because the more, the merrier. If one is broken, the other one will still work.

Backdoors? Unlikely, the code is open, tons of ppl controlled it and everyday try to break it.

is that mining was a bad idea
It is the only way to have a decentralized system that no one can control

Whatever the Bitcoin replacement is will have a built in mechanism for increasing the currency volume in proportion to usage.
I won't use it too. Bitcoin is digital gold, and you can't "increase" gold at will!

1946  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you really belive that you won't be able to buy at 20$ again? on: February 07, 2013, 08:12:50 PM
Lol, crazy was the low price bitcoin had in the past months.

I'm not saying that it will never come back at 20$ or even below, i'm just saying that 20 is not a "crazy" price, it is a low price if we consider the long term.
1947  Economy / Speculation / Re: When are you going to cash out? on: February 07, 2013, 07:58:47 PM
LTC is a BTC clone with a different hashing algorithm, it is like btc.

This said, cashing out? Do you mean cashing out dollars or euros to get bitcoin, am i right? Because no way i'll sell BTC, at most i use them to buy things  Wink
1948  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: POLL: Which bitcoin client do you use? on: February 07, 2013, 05:42:21 PM

For daily use, definitely Multibit.
1950  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining on multiple computers on: February 06, 2013, 10:59:53 PM
Of course, what do you expect for 150$? To become rich?
Bitcoin is a real thing, that's the point. Expecting quick profit is unreasonable. Mining was never meant to be very profitable, that's why there is difficulty, it act as a natural barrier, mining power increase until it stop being profitable. What to do if something is not profitable? The best decision is not to invest into it. It is not that you are forced to mine to use bitcoin after all. It is a matter of investment.
1951  Other / Off-topic / Re: US Dollar has been hacked! Don't use US Dollar it isn't save anymore. on: February 06, 2013, 10:51:56 PM

1952  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining on multiple computers on: February 06, 2013, 10:29:16 PM
I'll add that i am very happy that finally ASICs arrived, finally this "omg i can become rich with my computer" thing (wich, btw, is false for at least a year or more, you can do at most like one bitcoin a month with a normal computer) will die.
1953  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining on multiple computers on: February 06, 2013, 10:26:21 PM
How can buying a 149$ jalapeno a "rich game"? The problem is that you no more can "become rich" with your computer and you can't be bothered to actually invest something.

1954  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining on multiple computers on: February 06, 2013, 10:05:14 PM

i dont like the idea of those ASIC.
they delayed their shippment for like 4-5 months now....
and as soon as the first batch of the 30K ASIC will hit the market it will be +/- over for the home/regular miner.....
the difficulty level will jump so fast....
its a shame.
Basically you don't like them because you can no more become rich with your computer?  Roll Eyes
1956  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-02-06 NPR - Is Online Gambling Legal With Bitcoins? on: February 06, 2013, 09:10:30 PM
What I find extremely annoying is this obsession by people for what is and isn't legal.

I mean as if something being legal is the only form in which people can perform it. Pisses me off. Personally I don't give a shit about what is legal, what matters to me is the reality - there is this gang of thugs and if I want what's good for my health and wealth I should try my best to only do stuff that they can't find out about or stuff that they don't currently go out and look to exert violence over people for doing it.

Agreed.  Also, Law is not supposed to be some external force we should obey blindly. It's supposed to emanate from the will of people.  If people want something to be legal, then it should become legal.
