So you're commited enough to lie by stating BTC<>Bitcoin to preserve us. Thanks for taking so many risks!  Smiley

I updated the wording Smiley
1982  Economy / Lending / Re: CoinLenders :: Get bitcoin loans, and get fee rebates on your deposits! on: July 30, 2013, 10:52:34 PM
TradeFortress, any chance you could explain the reason behind the wording change?  A lot of people are getting nervous here.

The changes are to reduce the regulatory risks that CoinLenders faces. It is not much different from legal disclaimers of Bitfunder, Btct.co, etc. I understand that some users are worried over wording changes, but they're nothing to panic over.

So when everybody closes down due to AML or KYC btc-e will the last one standing.

BTC-e is not going to stay "off the radar" forever. If they have enough volume and run long enough without AML/KYC policies (or a block on US visitors), they are going to get seized. It's not a question of if, just a question of when.

Before thinking it's a good idea to build your own platform, I suggest learning web security basics. And turning off debug logging on prod.

Not hosting something dealing with financial information on a shared host probably helps:

1986  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Problems with BlockChain.info Two Factor Authentication on: July 30, 2013, 11:40:27 AM
Same here although I've not had any response after six weeks!

I bricked my mobile phone and had to request the removal of my 2-factor authentication on 18th June 2013. I've contacted the support desk a further 5 times since but still no response.

My ticket status' simply state that they are "Awaiting assignment to a support agent".

Awful service.

I'm having the same problem with all of my blockchain.info wallets.  I think Authenticator is out of sync ever since the app updated on my Android.  But gmail and other things work fine.

You've been waiting 6 weeks?  This sucks.

With 2FA, the site can choose how much "leeway" it has. Gmail probably has a leeway of 2 cycles (+- 59 seconds), while blockchain.info only 1 (+= 29 seconds).
1987  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Getting Verified. on: July 30, 2013, 10:19:23 AM
No, BTC-e does not do AML or KYC.

I do not view this as a positive.

Also, Active Mining has already doubled in price since I made my initial post here, proving that ActM was a far better investment than AM at the time.

Active Mining can be a better short term investment, but for those who looks on a span of months it's definitely not going to be.
1989  Economy / Gambling / Re: Would there be an interest for a Bitcoin Gambling Source? | Become the House on: July 30, 2013, 08:25:48 AM
And no, you can't do that unless you have their log-in.  In which case they'd simply be 'hacked'

Are you not aware of CSRF? I don't need someone's login. I just need to know someone's bitcoin address and I can silently update it.

It's now possible to sign unformatted messages. This lets you use gribble on #bitcoin-otc, etc.
1992  Economy / Gambling / Re: Would there be an interest for a Bitcoin Gambling Source? | Become the House on: July 30, 2013, 05:50:04 AM
I'm sorry but your site is horribly insecure. If I know a user's Bitcoin address, I can change their cashout address to mine. Silently.

lrn2security. Anyone who buys broken scripts is an idiot and will get hacked, because there's quite a few other vulnerabilities too.
1993  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone say arbitrage? on: July 30, 2013, 05:28:42 AM
The market values mtgoxUSD less than btceUSD by about 10%. This is just part of the market forces. If you value goxusd higher, by all means arbitrage.

I can't help but notice my fame is gone Sad What happened?

It has been changed to prestige which you'll be able to cash in for cashbacks soon.

Regarding the house edge: Games like Minefield (standalone, on bitvegas, whatever) has house edges of 10% of more. None of the house edge changes were retroactive.

With prestige, if you play enough you'll get a house edge lower than 5% (what it was before) - the more prestige you redeem, the more cashback you get.
1995  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What do you guys think of BitEnsure? Interest Bearing Wallets on: July 30, 2013, 05:21:08 AM
But in general, with these numbers it would be easy possible. They do with our bitcoins, arbitrage trading (I do it on my own, too) with something like ~4% profit per week.

Anyone who claims to be doing large scale arbitrage is lying. As your deposits grow, it becomes progressively more difficult (and yes, much more difficult) to get the same returns. Arbitrage is something with a fixed stop gap - there is a threshold to how much profit you an extract out of it.

Hi!
1997  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinbase vs BitcoinQT for wallet? on: July 30, 2013, 05:14:48 AM
Right, BitcoinQt is better if you can/want to run a full node that stores the blockchain. It protects the network as you'll be verifying everything yourself.

Online wallets are not less secure for example. I might be a little biased, but Inputs.io's security measures makes it more secure than an encrypted bitcoin-qt:

1) account & IP lock outs, whereas with Qt someone with absolutely massive computational power can break your encryption if the password wasn't secure enough
2) Blocking of some IPs from logging in, such as Tor and proxies / VPNs, which means that if someone does steal your coins you have a IP to go after.
3) Built with the best web security standards.

Online wallets does require you to trust the operator through.

1999  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: coinchat sucks on: July 30, 2013, 01:37:40 AM
Pirate or pussyfreak or wild child /will/ ask you to spam coinpr0n there. The chances of that happening is >90%. Hence, you were banned.

If being friends with someone makes it practically inevitable that you're going to disrupt coinchat, then you'll be banned. Even if you haven't done anything. That's the way it is, it's called probabilities and prevention.

You are also now on my ignore list.
2000  Economy / Services / Re: Design ten 16x16 smilies for coinchat. 1 BTC on: July 30, 2013, 01:33:18 AM
Ok, here they are. The first ten. Smiley If you like them, admin, I'll send you them in an email with the right name.

:meh:

Awesome! I'll compile it into a spritemap, but could the meh and roll eyes smilies be changed a little? Dots as eyes for meh, and just a small straight line for mouth for roll eyes.
