1141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to integrate BTC payment system to a e-commence website on: October 16, 2013, 12:04:39 PM
What eCommerce software are you using?

If you'd like an easy way to integrate BTC, take a look at https://inputs.io - 100,000+ BTC transferred.

1143  Economy / Gambling / Re: problem with off-chain "provably fair" games on: October 16, 2013, 11:14:13 AM

here's a possible cheat for a site:
change the game the user played.
If the user bets on "high" ("red") and the result is a win, just pretend he bet on "low" (or "black" or whatever), so the result is a loss.
Or change any other parameters of the game, such as odds.
Keep everything else (hashes, etc.) the same.

The user would know he'd been cheated, but (s)he would have no way of proving it to anyone.

This problem does not exist with on-chain gaming sites, where the bets are made publicly.

I think this can be solved by introducing used-side private keys and randomness, but this complicates
the verification considerably

or am I missing something here?
You're not missing anything. However, the USER will know he bet high / low. And that user will stop betting.

The avalons are worthless. Why not distribute the cash reserves? This is the best option for US shareholders.

What are the options at this point for Americans with shares? I'd like to hold direct shares, or maybe you could work to get on Havelock. Any word from a Fenix rep yet?
This is being performed right now. A final dividend is being issued. No electricity cost is being deducted from the final dividend.

It's going to go back up somewhat if friedcat deploys / sells the promised 500 TH/s very soon.

Counter-bump:
As a developer:
Are there plans for a test version? Ideally connected to testnet.
The internal testing / development environment runs on testnet, but a publicly I think there's little point when you can make 0.0001 transactions for the purpose of testing.

@TF - is it okay, to purchase a CD without submitting some of the requirements (photo ids, billing etc...)

1153  Economy / Lending / Re: about coinlenders on: October 14, 2013, 10:12:00 PM
I generally give out reasons to people who give reasons for applying the loan. Asking for a 100 BTC loan for "Real estate development" without any additional details or collateral doesn't fly, especially when it appears you are borrowing BTC to buy real estate over the period of 2 years when exchange fluctuations will leave someone very screwed.
1154  Economy / Lending / Re: about coinlenders on: October 14, 2013, 09:23:59 PM
Ok, they accepted 0.05 btc as a Loan Application Fee but rejected my loan without a good reason, even when I asked them for one...
I think it's a scam!
It would help if you provide information on who you are so and when this happened.

User will look at "bitcointalk-org.000freehost.com" and click OK. The simple thing is that people are not going to bother look at all. If you've built systems or UI you know this. How many times do the average user pay attention to UAC?

http://www.infopackets.com/news/business/microsoft/2009/20091105_win7_user_account_control_uac_ineffective_sophos.htm

Why do you think users will check the domain name every time they want to log in? They might the first time, but it's not going to be their daily routine.

Any system that relies on having intelligent users is unsuitable for a publicly facing internet website. Your browser's password manager is more secure.

Smartphones are also quite unsecure. Juice jacking is still a problem. It is nearly impossible to have a phone with 100% FOSS software. Putting authentication on your phone is good as two factor - the key word is two, requiring your normal username & password AND something specific on your phone.
1157  Other / Meta / Re: SQRL: revolutionizes web site login and authentication on: October 14, 2013, 01:31:59 AM
"Why we prominently display the domain name BEFORE authenticating" - users are stupid, they never check the URL despite how many times you tell it to. An average user storing their password in a password manager in their browser is thousands times more secure than this, simply because the average user is stupid.
1158  Other / Meta / Re: Security bounties on: October 14, 2013, 01:28:55 AM
I know the main vulnerability, it is that you are unprofessional in operating the system and you are too cheap to do things right.

I already explained to you that you need to start by using a reverse proxy service such as cloudflare.  They have setting that will stop some exploits before they ever reach the server and they have custom settings to block various exploits.  $200/month.

The next thing you need to do is take some training so you know what to ask.  For instance, you confuse "vulnerability" and "exploit" and you use them interchangeably when they are not.  A "vulnerability" is a configuration on your server that can be exploited.  An exploit is something that is done to attack a vulnerability.  A vulnerability can have many exploits.   Try an Ethical Hacking class and getting a CISSP certification.

In other words, give cloudflare the ability to MITM. Reverse proxy services should be seen as a a last resort, and all cloudflare's WAF will do is stop basic SQL injection, XSS, etc.

Oct. 9, 2013, 3:05 p.m. - **Debit cards have arrived as a new withdrawal option! (In Beta)

In the interest of releasing this to the public quickly, we are proud to announce our Beta launch of Debit Cards that will work with ATM or POS terminals in Canada and even some internationally! For faster withdrawals you can now sell Bitcoins for CAD and then take out the cash at ATM's! There is a one-time fee of $10 to have the card mailed to you, once you have the card there is a low administration fee of $1.50 to add funds to the card. You must have VirtEx CAD to withdraw to this card and you must be cash or online verified but no bank account is required. Loads are performed once per business day at 5PM(MST) starting tomorrow.

The first step is to make sure your contact information has your correct address, this is where your card will be mailed by regular mail, next go to Withdraw CAD and choose an amount to withdraw A debit card (with PIN) will then be mailed to you but the amount will not be loaded until you have confirmed receipt of the card by submitting a ticket under the new category: ”Prepaid Debit”. You will then receive a confirmation e-mail when your first amount is loaded. More details will follow with the release of a full fee schedule for card use shortly. When Beta ends in approximately 1-2months we will enable live 24/7 loading of these cards the moment you press withdraw CAD! We will also allow for Canada express post rush card delivery shortly!
Yeah, but you know Cavirtex will fall / require AML eventually, right? The only exchange that I'd call safe is MPEx.
