21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 03, 2016, 07:02:20 PM
Hey Guys,
New to the community here, two quick questions:

1. Is there a SECURE paper wallet generator for main net (or will there be?).
2. Besides the seed, what else do you need to back up to create a back up? And how/where do you do it?

Thank you,
    Pablo.

There is no paper wallet generator yet.
The seed is not enough because blackbytes are stored only on your devices, not in the public database.
For both backup and security, set up multisig wallet with redundancy, 2-of-3 is best if you have 3 devices on platforms that we support.

Hey,
Thanks for getting back. Just to be clear, if I do not have any black byte TX's the seed is enough to back up all my regular TX's from device to device? Am I understanding correctly that in the case of blackbytes your solution is to have redundant access?

Final question: Do you plan to have a marketplace by the December 25th launch, or will trades be OTC? I am interested in acquiring some if possible but I do not invest in BTC, only altcoins,.

Thank you,
   Pablo.

23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WINGS - Where DAO Unicorns Are Born. Campaign Starts 18 November! on: December 02, 2016, 09:50:48 PM
Hey Guys Smiley,
Still learning about Wings. Would it be accurate to say the participants in the current ICO will be part owners in the WIngs DAO itself, and as such will receive rewards from income generated by all future projects within the Wings ecosystem?

Thanks in advance,
   Pablo.

Yes, Wings holders are part 'owners' (not legally, but in practical terms) of the Wings DAO and get rewards whenever a new DAO has a successful crowdfunding.

just to clarify people only get rewarded when they forecast on a project, and the closer their forecast is to the end result (how much the project gets in funding) the higher their reward (the portion of the fee the project pays to the DAO) and the higher their Forecast Rating goes up over time.

therefore there is an incentive to continue to participate and evaluate projects

Do people who forecast have to make a payment in anyway? I assume they do to protect the voting process?

27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Crowdsale] Firstblood.io - A Decentralized eSports Platform Based Ethereum on: September 12, 2016, 06:24:58 PM
Correct me if I am wrong, but the First Blood token will need to either be pegged in value to USD or be inflated as new users join the system for it to be at all useful for game play. Also the token DOES NOT represent an ownership stake in the platform. So beyond helping you bootstrap the platform, what is the incentive of an investor (not a gamer) in buying the token?

Thank you,
    Pablo.

Hi Pablo!

Close, the token does not necessarily need to be pegged to a fiat value. The tokens will be issued with the base price of 1ETH: 100 (1ST). Their amount will also be permanently capped after the crowdsale and no more than $5.5mm worth of ETH will be accepted for token creation. Several 3rd party exchanges (centralized and decentralized) will allow for exchanging to take place, so gaining new tokens should not be a problem. In our early stages FirstBlood Tokens will be the only way to interact with the platform. However, in later versions users will also have the ability to challenge others with Ether and other tokens, including stablecoins.

That is correct, this token does not represent ownership, as that would constitute it as a security under existing laws. The primary purpose of 1ST is to enable us to reward people for referrals, running witness nodes (similar to BTC mining), and being an active jury voting pool member (similar to moderation). The incentives to participate in this crowdsale are nearly identical to the incentives of Augur's successful REP crowdsale. 1ST has similar functionalities to REP (verification and consensus mechanisms) with the added benefit of referral rewards. No gaming required, but you will always have the ability to use 1ST as a stake for challenging others.

Thank you for your detailed response, much appreciated!

How does Digibyte integrate into my battle.net/warcraft account? Is there a Blizzard API you guys are pulling kills and other info from for rewards, or how does the gaming app of DB work exactly?

Thank you,

Hi Pablo, many thanks for the book, it is really useful. Do you have an own blog or a youtube channel where you publish more specific information? Would probably be of great use, too.

Hey Smiley,
I actually recorded a few videos for a planned youtube channel, but it turns out I'm not that great a video editor so the quality wasn't that good. It wasn't worth it to put them out at that level. I put out a call to get a partner with some good video editing skills and some youtube experience but it didn't pan out. I actually reached out to Amanda B. Johnson of Dash fame, but she politely declined Smiley. I will likely be starting a Bolg in the coming weeks as I am happy to share my thoughts on the different alts and whatever insights I might have. Still, if anyone reading this has mad Youtube skills and feels like reaching out, I'm open to it and already have most of the legwork (20 some scripts and some filming done) Smiley.

I will be sure to post here once the blog is operational, but in the meantime, feel free to let me know what you guys specifically would like to read about or whether you would like me to expand on anything book related Smiley.

35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is BTC-E still considered a trusted site? on: August 13, 2016, 10:44:45 PM
I'm not a fan of BTC-E because their are a bunch of red flags for me in terms of location, secret owners, etc. But in all fairness, I logged in there after 3 years the other day, and found a couple hundred Litecoin I had completely forgotten about; so there's that. I think they have always acted pretty much fairly, but I would be surprised if something hinky was not going on in the background, and that it will not eventually come out to the forefront.

I think that if you do your research, Dash is an interesting alternative.

I think Dash shows a lot of promise and has a solid feature set both currently and in the works.

Charles,
Outstanding presentation. Are you already familiar with Dash DAO at a protocol level (not the hype/FUD)? Worth a look.

code: For clarifications, Ryno was not 'baked' in this video.

Thank god that the shadow project is not a "company" and that we're not looking for a "venture capitalist".

The scenario you proposed makes no sense either

It's an open source project

I did not mean you needed venture capital or that you are a company, I was providing an analogy, I think that was pretty clear.

Just thought I would clarify that.

Wish you the best,
  Pablo.

He looks totally baked in the video.

Pablo.

So what if he was baked! So long as he can do the work is all that matters IMO. I thought he spoke from the heart and he seems straight up to me. The proof is in the pudding and so far SDC has always come through. I see good things for the future of SDC... Cool

Hmmm, okay. I've been around venture capital for a while, so let me paint you a picture:

You are a VC in charge of deciding whether to invest in a new company. A kid comes in with some interesting tech, you knew about the tech beforehand, did your research and invited in him for a talk. He sits down, opens his mouth and the first thing you notice is that he is completely baked. Lets get past the fact that it is not okay to show up to a meeting like this in the real world, it should make no difference that this happens in the ether of the internet, its bad form.

But, hey, you like the tech and you decide to give the kid a shot. "I want a million dollars," he says. You ask, "so whats your company's structure right now?" he says "well, I have a "real" job, and I like (chuckle) I do this whenever I feel like it. And that's better I think, because I can do what I like." he adds "I also don't know who is working on the project day to day or what they are up to, and I think that's a good thing, because it shows people are contributing." You start thinking: "I wonder what I'll have for lunch." And he legit said as much in the video.

This scenario is actually adapted from what he said in the first few minutes, I couldn't get through the rest. I am not challenging that SDC may be good tech, I haven't had a chance to look it over completely yet; but I do this for a living (investing in crypto's) and although I came to your thread with an open mind, that first few minutes of the video killed it for me. Could I be wrong?, It's happened in the past, often enough, but I am not investing my money here after seeing that video. And I am far, far less conservative in my investment philosophy than any other (edited) person who you will need to join your community down the road to going mainstream.

I am not here to trash your coin, and frankly I hope you guys make some money, but these are legitimate points. I am sure I could go on if I watched the whole video but i don't wanna seem like I'm attacking your coin or your dev, I'll be moving along now.

Best of luck,
  Pablo.
