21  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your view on this? Is it fun or addiction? on: February 08, 2024, 08:10:37 PM
Hopefully whoever posted that was kidding.

I take a cautious approach to gambling, in more reasonable  ways.
Provably fair lotteries , heavy rig rentals pointed to new and emerging pools, I have to see the odds, if it's a gamble on provably fair I usually hope for luck to be the least involved metric.  (But it can't be ignored)
It's never a sure thing but that's how I go about it.
22  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: VanitySearch (Yet another address prefix finder) on: February 08, 2024, 08:02:06 PM
If only someone had made a system like nicehash for vanity wallet generation. I'd give the source code to anyone capable and willing to maintain and redeploy the service. (I'd prefer it be someone I know or know of)

In your experience/opinion, what all would it take?
I ran it on a Dell R710 Google GSA server running server 2019 paired with a Tesla T4
The end points where mining rigs. (The endpoints can be anything running windows)
Payments where processed with opennode.
but it enabled a simpler payment system. (It requires server owner to kyc) That's what it was about, simplicity for the endpoint user.
It's a compartmentalized system with argument breaks wrote in mostly c#.
It's a trustless design as far as Bitcoin security goes.
Software wise it's like mining software. Servers the pool, endpoints are workers. It's just clever workarounds to look like a pool
We where going to pull device IDs and cross reference mks for live key count estimations
Endpoint workers are teslaagents that report to server.
(They are pretty invasive we recommend keeping them on mining rigs and treating it like so)
Endpoint workers check work and only submit correct work.
Correct work got sent via email (jellyfish)
The endpoints run whatever software you want, but when a request comes in it closes that software and prioritizes the workers task untill finished.
You'd need a domain , email,  opennode account

I'd request a few things if I just hand this over.

, if its repurposed for cracking it retains intended features as well to the public.
If you release SC , you have a checksum of some sort to verify it's the real deal.
Point the tip jar to the 1SPLiTKEY wallet.
Credit the 1SPLiTKEY Team.  I had a partner in this but they wished to remain anon, I'll respect their wishes but still inadvertently credit them this way.

Can you give us a quick history lesson on killyou?  Sounds like it may be before my time on the forum but I am intrigued nonetheless.

I believe it all started when someone dug up this post. Grin

Besides that, when he was first here, he had some girlfriend sharing his account or something. it was quite odd. Then he just got stranger and stranger, until...

TMAN comes along... And then KY was homeless... So somewhere out here is a thread/pics of him doing odd things TMAN paid him to do... Like grab a pink Flamingo off a lawn... Hang out with some homeless dudes...

And oh yeah, his coins... OMG, the first ones wheelz mentioned were surely something else at the time.  Roll Eyes

ICYMI - FFrankie used to be Killyou72. His alt was killyou73, but not sure if it still in use.

He's still around,  No crazy ole lady's as far as I know now days. Wink

FFrankie was one of my first friends on the forums.

He gave me my first collectible pieces here. He supports small projects.

I'm very happy to see he's impacted more than just me.

25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Cheap & silent mini PC for Bitcoin node & blockchain explorer? on: February 07, 2024, 04:27:28 AM
The dell black box. (Dell PC 5000)

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/embedded-box-pc-5000/docs

(Used in police cars, fedex trucks and more)

pn:N01PC

I ran a node on one for almost 3 years.

If you like tinkering in general this things a beast.

the case is a giant heatsink. no fans.

GPIO 8 pin
GPIO
4 serial ports.
lots of uses.

Im sure the system will outlast whatever HDD you slap in it.

Ahh the old collision checker. (possible yes, probable no)

infinity/200,000,000 is still infinity.

You have much better chances hitting a solo mining block with a proc or playing provably fair lottery on freebitcoin

even better chances getting struck by lightning.

Do the same thing you would with a barcode scanner for dvd's.

rate limit 10-30 a second depending, if something file it. if nothing ignore it.

check it out in a few days and learn your pissing in the wind.

modify JLVS to scan realtime.

Lets say you do get a hit , what are you going to do clean them out?

even if there was an asic keysearcher chewing out quadrillions of keys a second you are wasting time.

the only way this could be feasible is knowing the keyspace. even then odds are shit. https://privatekeys.pw/puzzles/bitcoin-puzzle-tx

Personally, I wouldn't waste the resources.

https://vanitypool.appspot.com/availableWork solve these at least you have a chance.

28  Economy / Speculation / Re: Germany: Police seize bitcoins worth €2 billion on: January 31, 2024, 06:03:59 AM

I'd like to know how they managed to get them to transfer the coins, I'd go down with that ship!
I've ran scenario after scenario in my head thinking on that.
I'd love to hear some theories cause I got nothin.
29  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bullrun top on: January 31, 2024, 05:43:21 AM
with that said. when a pattern is too well known. many people anticipate and plan to beat the pattern, thus breaking the pattern
I was already surprised the previous ATH was "round" instead of a very steep increase followed by a hard collapse.

As much as I expect a new ATH after the halving, there comes a day it won't happen.
just thinking out loud
With most the coin mined up the dynamics will change a little bit as people find new ways to manage a dwindled supply. (I think halving will not be as big of a deal to people once we cross that .78125 point.
Like buying a year earlier. (Not everyone) so it'll speed that year up gap up a little quicker. Untill eventually it's a trend(everybody doing it). Eventually (Everyone) will be loading up in the weeks/month/years before, as soon as that buyer timeframe mindset is crossed supply will vanish and we will see a more regular ATH instead of every 4 years. With less volatility.

If you guys haven't read this Hal Finney interview from 2006 it's a great read.

https://www.ataricompendium.com/archives/interviews/hal_finney/interview_hal_finney.html

That article is the one piece of evidence that solidifies Hal is Satoshi (to me!)

Invents PoW, PGP ,1st person to receive BTC.

Hist first job was writing cash register software FFS.

Then I really really started thinking into that article.

Hal said his favorite thing to do on his free time was coding in 2006. The remailers,PGP and PoW have already been made.

What's left ?

BTC

A video of Hal in 98' talking about ZeroKnowlege Proofs
https://twitter.com/i/status/1704535500055527831

Almost 10 years later  ~$400 to 40k.

(This is my opinion, for argument sake I accept that Hal may not be Satoshi, But he is to me.)

Changing intent midway through isnt ideal, it would also be a scammer play around here.

Maybe lock the post and create a new one with a disclaimer as to why you locked the first one?

It isnt ideal either, but its an option.
36  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is bitmain.us.com a trustworthy retailer? on: January 28, 2024, 05:59:24 PM
Is bitmain.us.com a trustworthy retailer?

Site looks good, just haven't used them before and was looking for some feedback.

Thanks!
I Did use this site before so i Don't know actually this site is Trusted or not. we can't consider a site as a trusted by design i mean UI. it is easy tk develop by a developers with low costing. so you should research more to take a buy action for any products. take a long time if needed and search another alternative site and compare them each other’s then take a decision

Just checking for feedback on this retailer:

bitmain.us.com

Has anyone used them before?

Thanks!
Its fake. (also a wordpress site).
https://www.bitmain.com is what you are looking for.
Never trust a vendor looking to blatantly deceive its client base by pretending to be someone else.

I posted this on your other topic.

Question for theymos, would it perhaps be more correct to use another word for wordfiltering instead of "banned"?

I understand the issue and it even makes some sense, the possible use of another word.

In turn, the question arises: what word to use?
I spent a few minutes thinking about a possibility, and I didn't come up with any better idea than "banned". So what word would you suggest?
Nixed

Rigs are getting cheap. Time to really dig in, I think this will be the last somewhat reasonable wash, rinse and repeat halving cycle.

Looking to get dirt cheap old solar panels and toss a 37th rig on solo 8-10 hrs a day or,

It's time to grab discount miners run em at a loss and stack coin. Then dump all the gear when its 3-4X what I paid for it in a year.

This will be my 3rd cycle of doing this. First doing a asic on solo (if i do it).

I haven't gotten my hands on up-to-date gear in a while.

40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Another Bitcoin Core post. on: January 28, 2024, 06:21:14 AM
So your trying to understand core?

"I have my own old 2013 wallet.dat I'm trying to open, but first, I thought I'd find an example wallet.dat
and test it out to ensure Bitcoin Core is functioning correctly (i have made multiple .dat backups)."

So you know a thing or 2 already, you got as far as exporting a .dat from core in 2013, downloading things like that from someone who actually has no established trust isnt the best idea even on vm.
