841  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are Virgin Bitcoins on: August 14, 2019, 03:37:35 PM
I've heard about virgin bitcoins and knew the definition before reading this thread, but the topic is indeed interesting. From what I read before, though, freshly mined coins cost more than others and they are of great interest to people doing illegal activities... I've never seen a clean BTC and cannot imagine why I would ever need it rather than a regular Bitcoin, but it would I deed be interesting to see them.

Is a newly minted $20 bill worth $21 ? no
Is a $20 bill that was used for cocaine worth $19 ? no
Is a genesis block BTC worth more then a non genesis block BTC ?  Does'nt matter as genesis blocks funds cant be moved.

Quote
The first 50 BTC block reward went to address 1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa,[1] though this reward can't be spent due to a quirk in the way that the genesis block is expressed in the code. It is not known if this was done intentionally or accidentally.[4][5][6] It is believed that other outputs sent to this address are spendable, but it is unknown if Satoshi Nakamoto has the private key for this particular address, if one existed at all.

In theory, if satoshi found the key the only additional value added to the coins would be that they where his coins.
842  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanity Pool - vanity address generator pool on: August 14, 2019, 03:21:24 PM
Can anyone verify this is still up and running ?
I'd like to attempt a few of these with 6x  tesla v100s
Is the reward automated or manual releases?.
843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are Virgin Bitcoins on: August 14, 2019, 02:16:27 PM
You could simply consider freshly mined btc "Virgin Bitcoin"
When it swaps hands , It's lost its virginity.

Which is rather funny given most pools do not give the coins directly to miners, but instead store/send them to a (online) wallet of theirs and when the miner reclaims it another transaction is made. Perhaps this concept would need some amends...
Its to allocate redundancy.

Trying to search up but they dont forbid Russians so its not true basing on what he had said.

Russian users of Bittrex started to get worried because of how Bittrex's new TOS addition focused on excluding countries that have been embargoed by the US. They probably thought that Russia as a whole would make it to that list too, but it has not. It is just the Crimea that is on their ban list. If you search for Crimea you'll see it pop up.

As for the 'international' sub domain of Bittrex, that is only for non US users. US users will remain on the regular Bittrex part of the platform. There are differences in token accessibility where international users can trade them, but US users not.

read it again very carefully, the international site is subject to even more embargoes via other countries.  OP hasnt even verified he's not in Crimea?
Or possibly its illegal for him in his jurisdiction and nowhere else.

847  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex hold my money! on: August 13, 2019, 06:00:52 PM
this is in the wrong section but here's a helping hand https://bittrex.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007383231-How-to-launch-Bittrex-Support-Live-Chat stay persistent Bittrex has done this to me as well but as long as everything is legit they will get you moving along.
If they sense somethings off you might be in for a ride.

bittrex is not legit.  Roll Eyes  you new here?
Anyways your country is most likely on embargo with US are you in CRIMEA by chance? Please notice your also subject to Malta laws too if using international.  Or you have other issues such as verification.
They wont disclose shit to you if they feel like your a scammer, Except to tell you they wont tell you.
@gembitz they've been stellar to/for me. Usually problems with bittrex are due to incompetency of the end point user , not the service.

What is team viewer?? This sounds intriguing 🤔
If you find a private key that way, the person with remote access will instantly see your private key on his screen. Be very careful who you trust!
I would like to add that LoyceV would be a great option to help you out. Loyce if you get a piece of the pie shoot me a crumb Tongue
Im not remoting with "anyone" i have trust issues.

I second that and say it again BE CAREFULL! maybe consult here about who your trusting with said task first.
851  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Innosilicon T2T-30TH Miners Pre-Orders from TeslaWatt direct Self Escrow* on: August 13, 2019, 04:56:01 PM
There are many facilites that charge .06kwh why do people pay these high rates?
You get what you pay for, TW is all inclusive. No charge for service calls ,ship outs or setups ect.

the same with the facilities that charge .06c
Okay Ill bite can you point me to a LLC in the 48 states with transparent rates that are near  0.06c
Ill wait.
852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I need Help finding or recovering bitcoins off an old hard drive on: August 13, 2019, 04:41:30 PM
Why dont you get someone on here thats trusted to help you out via team viewer offer them a %.
I imagine if you bought it in its infancy you have a pretty good amount.
I only suggest this because you mentioned you where not very proficient and sometimes this stuff can be complicated on windows.
Be careful who you pick to help on this.

BTW I didn’t say not proficient!! I totally don’t know anything about python, thought I can manage to install/run the program on my own, when/ if I find the coins then I certainly would give someone a sizable thank you gift/ token of appreciation for the actual recovery to use in a new wallet.

""I am very primitive when it comes to computers do not know coding, Python or any other PC language just a simple Windows operator!""

I dont know how I was supposed to interpret that and my apologies,
Team viewer is a remote access gui based tool that agreed upon parties can gain access to your system while you watch them work/configure/fix.
It looks a lot like a ghost is using your computer when its in use.

854  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: UK Guy - looking for 12v solar panels for mining project on: August 13, 2019, 04:25:22 PM
You might be better off trying to use wind power if you can. We don't often go below 10 or 20 miles per hour here and if there's enough space for the solar panels, there should be enough space for the turbines too...

If you're going with solar panels, there are calculators as the others have siad that allow you to estimate how much power you're going to need.

If you're interested in upgrading an antminer S1-S5 then you might be fine with 300W, if not then you MAY need a better inverter, if the inverter is that low you might face issues with the batteries not being charged very well and them being drained extremely quickly (which may cause them to overheat or something if they're only getting a tiny amount in and it is immediatley getting taken out). If you can put up the funds, a 2000W inverter is about £200 on amazon. You might also have to account for the fact that we get 6 hours of sunlight in the winter and 16-18 hours in the summer per day.

dont think youd need an inverter at all if you can use a regulator he can go from 12v batter (14.4v at charge) straight to the miner (12v)  and bypass both the inverter and PSU
I would not recommend that, I think you might mean charge controller?
855  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Considering mining.... help with estimates on: August 13, 2019, 04:19:31 PM
QFT!!! you might make it a couple months but expect issues down the road. TBH it seems the issue is addressed already with the price hike. (just like with old school phone plans,if you go over its gonna really cost you)

But you should consider hosting at a facility if its an option for you.
856  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolinminer & Whatsminer FAQs on: August 13, 2019, 04:14:53 PM
Duties bypassing is probably not ideal

A certain seller drop shiped a miner to a guy we all know. He did two, duty bypassed refused to sell the second one that he expected the buyer to reship without telling him.
And then this certian buyer we all know ended up paying taxes/duties for BOTH units as well as having to reship the second unit he had no part or knowledge about. Maybe he got reimbursed maybe not.
I think this certain seller is legitimate , but if he does practices like this with one of our most renowned/trusted members I couldn't imagine what someone else without such reputation might would go through.
857  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Gear Pricing just becomes more irrational then ever on: August 13, 2019, 04:00:59 PM
They are going to keep holding pricing too even if we dip under 9000
Demand is about to surge among commercial miners from what I can tell.
https://seekingalpha.com/article/4284590-blockstream-launches-bitcoin-mining-service
Just that alone seems like it could have heavy impact.
