So not one soul here got their hands on one?
What happened to this delivery event I thought I'd see em on the road this week so far nothing.

I think the delivery event was a bit of a misnomer and more like a publicity stunt than a general release. As far as I can tell they just gave out about a dozen or so to some select 'buyers' and even they were probably affiliated with Tesla or the media or something so I doubt you'll see them driving around unless you live in Texas and happen to have some luck. I haven't seen anything to confirm that they're actually been given to people on a wider release yet.

I am in Texas . Have never seen one.
You think a smart PR move would be to give them to people who would advertise for you?
Especially considering they don't market!
I feel like they cybertruck is holding some customers emotionally hostage ...this thing was supposed to be out already!
123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHY PEOPLE ARE NOT TAKING THEIR PRIVACY SERIOUSLY. on: December 07, 2023, 11:17:35 AM

Why do people think that coordinators, mixers, coinjoin software, etc.  have something to hide?

Probably because they do, it's services literally designed to cover your trail and obscure data. " For privacy"
If these services where used for fiat it would probably get chalked up to money laundering or racketeering.
After the last few days I'm pretty sure mixers are mainly used for bitcointalk users to hide funds of their purchased alt accounts  signature campaign earnings before they hit main wallets.
This is probably the real reason for the ban of mixer stuff here. JK but it's a noteworthy explanation but the truth is calling for multi layer anonymity when layer 1 does the job is considered excessive and suspicious. It's the equivalent of melting down gold for resell in a stolen market. You can't shake the outside looking in on 1st thoughts. You got blood diamonds. You got blood Bitcoin too.
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: help me not to leave btc on: December 07, 2023, 10:53:30 AM
Bitcoin is king in my book..Alts are little stepping stones to help me find more BTC .
These days I don't even really use Alts to get BTC because well they aren't BTC!
125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you feeling FOMO like I am? on: December 07, 2023, 10:50:24 AM
I feel like I could have acquired more yes.
I also feel some type of way about them calling it a super cycle and I'm not holding more.
But I've learned over the years crying over realized losses isn't going to make gains or really benefit me in any way.
I'm counting my blessings , if I'm meant to have more then it'll come my way.
126  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mixing Services on: December 07, 2023, 12:18:15 AM
Well these are going to be banned here soon so it's best to read up and ask questions now before Jan 1st.
However seems conjoins going to be the new thing.

128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sending your BTC what to pay. on: December 06, 2023, 04:52:40 PM
So today, I am in favor of using the WoS. It's smooth and works well. But yeah... custodial solution...
For small amounts, I don't mind. Compared to the amount of money people keep in exchanges, it's tiny.
I haven't tried it, but you can probably fund it from an exchange directly. Imagine topping up your Bitcoin LN wallet with a 5 sat transaction fee Smiley
over the years has your sats stacked enough to make running a node worth it ?
I've been intending on running one on a pi with eclair or something more current and opening a small channel but there isn't enough time in a day these days. I can barely participate here at the moment. I just pop in now and then.
129  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Open A.I "Q" Project supposedly cracked AES 192 encryption very fast. on: December 06, 2023, 04:41:30 PM
100% BS. Just clickbait at best. Give the video a thumbs down and move on.
As stated above, if it were true then all things encrypted would be screwed and crypto would be the least of our problems.

I owned a delta 88 v-8 it could do 19 mpg on the highway and the trunk could fit 20 that is right 20 five gallon cans of paint.

A family member of mine had that car...

Definitely had some room and was a comfy ride.

Also what's with all these fake breakthroughs?
130  Economy / Service Discussion / Real world side gigs for sats. on: December 05, 2023, 01:39:28 PM
I'm looking to do some side hustling for BTC and was going to experiment with some small concepts to see how they go.

These are going to be time based labor services such as rebuilding carbonators or computer/console repair.

I'd like to see some input on how you might would go about this in your area? My thoughts are to offer a special and then offer a better

discount if paid with crypto. Odds are they will be paying via cashapp or Venmo anyways , why not take advantage of that?

I'm looking to stack some sats utilizing ideas like this over the holidays if you guys would like to contribute and ideas to be tested in this

endeavor please drop it here and I'll try to utilize or implement your idea into this venture.
131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Paradox of Privacy and Decentralization: Banning Mixers on Bitcointalk.org on: December 02, 2023, 03:12:10 PM
The Ideological Conflict:
At its heart, Bitcoin is a decentralized currency. Mixers, which enhance transaction privacy, seem like a natural ally to this cause. Yet, their banning on a platform dedicated to decentralization is contradictory.

There is another conflict and it's right in your way of thinking, do you realize that mixers are centralized platforms?
So you're right now advocating for a centralized platform that talks about decentralization to allow centralized services!  Wink
If we were advocating for decentralization and being your own bank not your keys not your coins all that, , shouldn't we  actually ban any service that takes custody of your coins and that is virtually a bank,  a thing that we go against the principles this forums stands for?
How is that ideology going?  Grin

also dont forget these two details

1. many bitcoiners lobbied to get governments to recognise bitcoin as a currency.. opening the door to regulations

2. regulations actually require businesses to watch/monitor mixer users that deposit with them, more so than other random people transacting on the blockchain. so using a mixer doesnt offer better privacy, it puts you on a watchlist due to using a mixer.

the solution, if regulators require businesses to monitor mixer users..
a. stop using mixers
b. invent a new service that does not even mention privacy/cleaning, mixing.. and is more creative with how it takes in deposits and withdraws .. cough cough satoshi-dice cough cough

I guess your both right to an extent.
The thought never crossed my mind about that.
A lot of prominent members have issues with it , it makes me wonder are they upset over the concept or does it directly affect them
What are a lot of these guys doing to aquire coins that necessitates a mixer?
132  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 02, 2023, 02:42:03 PM

The world is going in a weird space. Too bad this happened.

133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Paradox of Privacy and Decentralization: Banning Mixers on Bitcointalk.org on: December 02, 2023, 02:30:54 PM

Bitcointalk, a place of decentralized ideologies, has banned the use of mixers starting Jan 1 2024. This decision presents a fascinating irony and raises several questions about the core values of Bitcoin and the broader crypto community.

The Ideological Conflict:
At its heart, Bitcoin is a decentralized currency. Mixers, which enhance transaction privacy, seem like a natural ally to this cause. Yet, their banning on a platform dedicated to decentralization is contradictory. Does this signify a shift in the community's values, or is it a necessary compromise?

Legal and Ethical Considerations
The rationale behind banning mixers often revolves around legal compliance and preventing illicit activities. While these are valid concerns, do they justify stepping away from the principles of privacy and decentralization?

Community Response and Impact:
How has this decision been received by the broader cryptocurrency community? Does it affect the way we perceive and use Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies?

Speculating on Satoshi Nakamoto’s Perspective:
If Satoshi Nakamoto were to witness this, what would their reaction be? Would they advocate for absolute adherence to privacy and decentralization, or acknowledge the need for some regulatory measures?

The Future of Decentralization and Privacy in Cryptocurrencies:
Looking forward, how do we balance the ideals of privacy and decentralization with the practicalities of regulation and legal compliance? What developments might we anticipate in this domain?

134  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 01, 2023, 04:10:46 PM
Well this is a blow. But understandable, Not being able to talk about them in general and the consequence is being banned is a bit weird.
We don't ban or delete ponzis, obvious scams or cross reference IP's for multiple accounts. But lets put the hammer on mixers.
I guess I get it though, theymos has probably been approached about this.
135  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin at its ATH of 2023 so far on: December 01, 2023, 03:18:47 PM
Bitcoin has surged for 2.87% today and reached the highest level in 2023. Does this year has more surprises for us and we can break all time high of bitcoin ?
Do not expect all-time-high this year as we said since the beginning in January, but we expected the price of bitcoin to increase and it did. The day to all-time-high is getting closer. Let us see what will happen after United States SEC approve bitcoin ETF and also some months after halving. Be expecting all-time-high by next year, but the price may increase more in 2025 which might be all-time-high.
Never say never.  Around December 8th 2020 we where at like 19k, Jan 8th 2021 we hit 40K Before a halving then proceeded to 60k shortly after, my point is a lot of the action happened before halving. (and after)

Doubt we are to that point yet.

137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin TX Acceleration anyone? on: November 30, 2023, 02:31:42 PM
If you control your wallet and TX is pending you can change the fee.
Check mempool and see the priority fee. Right now it's 31 sat/vB , 12 hours ago it was double that.
You can adjust your fee to be included in the top/next block mined, or you can rebroadcast your txid to get placed back on top of the que of your current fee (if 200 people have done the same fee as you since you submitted your TX your under those 200 people, if you rebroadcast you'll be at the top of that fee que.) Hope this helps.

139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do not share your bitcoin holdings with everyone on: November 29, 2023, 11:58:11 PM
I was listening to a news that one of the relatives of a person kidnapped him and asked him for bitcoin in ransom. This happened because that person showed his bitcoin holdings to many of his relatives and news spread among them that he has lot of money invested in crypto. Though, finally funds were recovered from that guy but he could have even lost his life in the whole scenario. Thus, you should be careful with disclosing about your bitcoin holdings to everyone.
A good reminder of why it's important to keep your crypto holdings under wraps. Showing off your bitcoin can lead to kneecapping situations, like the kidnapping incident you mentioned. Even if the funds are recovered, the risk to personal safety is real. Always be vigilant of who you're sharing your financial details with, especially when it involves something as volatile and desirable as cryptocurrencies. Stay discreet with your BTC.
140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happen if Bitcoin shutdown? on: November 29, 2023, 11:14:13 PM
I am just wondering, what will happen if Bitcoin shutdown? Will the market crash? How about the effect of this to altcoins? Can government shutdown Bitcoin? I have a lot of question about this matter, because who knows, right? Also, how about hackers shutdown Bitcoin? What are your thought here? Let's discuss this.
The only way I can see Bitcoin shutting down is if people stop using it and mining it.
I don't think it could be hacked as a whole with current technology but never say never.
