  1)  but if a person who borrows won't return a debt then what penalties or fees would be imposed on him?

   2) and what is a benefit for an investor to give fiat money for lenders? let's assume theoretically that an investor gave fiat money for lending, got his crypto assets as collateral and then a crypto market would fall down drastically and wouldn't go upside anymore. in this case this investor would lost a high percentage of his assets and moreover maybe it would be hard to sell crypto assets on a falling market with decreasing volumes

Lenders assume risk, it's part of the business.

Heh. An interesting idea is the monetization of solar energy. It would not be bad to see a bounty program.

AFAIK there is a bounty program.

I've always wondered, if I have two separate wallets each with 100k SLR and compare that with a single wallet with 200k SLR, will the block reward/ overall interest accrued be approximately identical? OR is there an overall reward advantage to bundling all of your SLR into the same wallet?

The interest rate would be the same. However it helps the network more with a higher node count as each wallet not being identical will stake a different times.

Would an active synced wallet with 0 coins also help the network? or is it only the "staked" coins that help the network?

What do you think? Of course this does not help maintaining the network.

I just don't understand how the code works. I'm unsure if it is the process of "staking" that is what supports the network or if it is merely an open wallet that supports the network. This seems unclear.

There are two components to the mining process whether it's proof of work, or proof of stake. One is the hardware required to calculate a block, and the other is communication with the blockchain. Bitcoin for example uses a lot of hardware to calculate the proof of work, but the work must still be written to the blockchain. You can run a main node on the Bitcoin network without doing any of the proof of work, though all you're doing is storing transactions, and broadcasting that info to the network. Solarcoin works in much the same way, though all the calculations for generating a block are done through a software algo. You can still run a "main node" on the network to support the blockchain, though you won't generate any interest with an empty wallet. So yes it does support the network, but not nearly as much as you would even if you had a tiny amount of solarcoin in that wallet.

How much time do you need to have the token added to multiple exchanges?

As long as it takes.

thank you guys for the help this issue is resolved and my coin is in my new wallet, who would have thought this was going to end up here pretty awesome. SLR was just something I originally pointed one rig at back when it came out ( I think it was brought to my attention from a guy called Rose back then) and was mining like 260 coins a day. I have not touched any crypto sense 2014 so its been exciting getting all my wallets updated and trying to figure out what to do with everything. I think I will hold SLR for some more time though as it seems to be pretty active path. Again thank you for the help.

If everything is working, you're golden.

I can't get the website to work at all anymore. I can plug in my info all day but I don't get a response from the server.

i have got the latest wallet from them and it is installed on my newer computer, is there an upgrade or something i should run on the old wallet? should I have run the new wallet on the old computer that is running the 1.0.1?

The wallet software should be updated on both pc's. The old wallet software will not connect to the network. Make sure you have a backup of your wallet.dat file, and or a backup of your private keys somewhere before any updates.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SALT Community Membership on: December 29, 2017, 07:02:27 PM
Am I correct in saying you can pay back your loan and interest using salt tokens valued at retail (currently shown as $27.50 on membership dashboard).

If so it seems like current market price of around $15-16 still gives as massive discount.

So borrow in $$$ and pay back in salt bought below retail?

I'm glad it's not just me that doesn't get this either?

Or is this the SaltLending site's way of saying "look, SALT is too cheap right now" with the idea being people will buy up to its value of $27.50 ?

It encourages volume. The tech relies on people moving money, taking out loans. It's not unlike a grocer selling something at a loss to get people in the door.

SLR needs some marketing to be worth something now, or a MM who wants to show some love.. or Mcafee! Cheesy

Smiley oha, bad marketing is a feature of this project

Exactly. Organic growth, not P&D.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SLR] SolarCoin | PoW to PoS v. 2.0 | Solar Proof of Generation (§1 = 1MWh) on: December 21, 2017, 03:35:07 PM
i see what there is not solarchange like "affiliate" on solarcoin site now. what`s happen ?  toxic ? )

There are several projects being prepared under the radar.
We can't know until they up over the surface.

SolarCoin's market cap is only 20million USD, not even hundred million.
Anything can be possible for this high potential low cap coin.

Market Cap means nothing in Crypto. The game has already been taken over by the banks. Bitcoin will never come down unless China pulls a stunt. And if so Bitcoin can then move right back up to prior levels.

Cash is being exchanged for Bitcoin, so those positions must be propped up. Not to mention that the older positions at $200 to $500 are what make these high positions no real problem. When your reserves are so massive then you can entertain people at higher prices and make them pay for getting out by boosting the price up to higher interest rates than any bank could ever legally charge. But this is to say you need Bitcoin. Well you may if the Banks Bail in to your personal checking account.

Now realize that the price will only go up from here on out, barring massive dumps which could get absorbed. Considering the powers that be wring out the Alts for everything they are worth and put it back into Bitcoin to bolster it. So now people will only be able to nibble away at fractions of Bitcoin. Now the ledger is in reverse. It is a ledger of who is buying in and stamping their spot inside the Derivative like actions that will be driving up the price. Since liquidity is needed the only way Bitcoin can go is up. It will need to mark each exit for the derivative and each entry as the cap. So when you look at the Market Cap you can think of it as the Derivative price point. Once it hits a Quadrillion dollars then it will match the losses of the 2008 Derivative market. So Bitcoin is the new derivative playground now. If it were to crash then too many people would be let back in. Unless the game is to leave it vacant of money in the end and any input is now the bankers, or they deem illegal since it attempted to crash economies. Just as quick as certain companies can suddenly accept BitCoin Cash as insider trading, so too can they suddenly say we have to close the doors.

Consider the market cap of Dash. Money is not flowing only to Bitcoin and for many reasons. Crypto is getting accepted in more and more places, the higher cap coins are being adopted because in fact their liquidity is high enough to sustain a steady capitalization. The tech keeps improving.

Solarcoin is a sleeping giant!

Absolutely, yes! SolarCoin is sole representative of Whole Photovoltaic industry. Its market cap is only 20M, not even hundreds million.
It's just matter of time. 2018 will be exciting year for SolarCoin.

If Solarcoin hit 20 dollars, it wouldn't even be in the top 30 on coinmarketcap. I think you're both right.

Closing in on $3

Can't tell if this is from the future or from a different thread.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SALT Community Membership on: December 14, 2017, 12:32:47 PM
I wonder what the value to loan ratio will be? What happens if btc drops 50% overnight. You liquidate me while im sleeping? Crypto is way too volatile for this. I loan 10k give you 10k worth of btc. I sleep, during my sleep that btc is now worth 5k... what happens? I have no reason to want my btc back so im assuming ive been liquidated. Or is the collateral held going to be worth 2x the $ loan?

SALT seems like a complete scam coin. The pre-distribution of 'memberships' is laughable, it should be illegal.

::Shines bright light in your face::

WHO DO YOU WORK FOR?!

There's unfortunately some inaccuracy in that article especially pertaining to solarcoin.

Hey VP, thanks for the update Smiley - but I (personally) don't agree this the logic here...

The coinswap represents a highly valuable opportunity to move away from the slow, bloated and somewhat broken blockchain CBX currently implements - to update the client with modern (SECURE) code base and set CBX on a firm footing for the future should be the primary goal here. Just because a single (granted our only) exchange won't support the coin if we swap should not (ever) dictate the technical direction of the  implementation of the coin - the code/blockchain at the end of the day is all that matters, and if it's not sound CBX has no future.

With a coinswap, new code base, clean client and fluid blockchain (you can sync from the Gen block to the latest) we should re-approach a number of key exchanges and diversify our market penetration. What if our only exchange implodes in 3 months time?

Just my two sense, but if we bend to the will of a singular corporate entity that is in this game to solely make money what does that say about CBX, it's values and the attitudes toward decentralisation that any investor will questionnaire before placing buy orders that will drive it's value upward.

FR

I really want to disagree with this. But you make some valid points. The only drawbacks are the costs associated with getting listed on other exchanges, and having no real exchanges right at a time when we need them the most. However the flip side to this is possibly implementing a p2p exchange within the wallet. I know that would add development time though. Would be pretty cool if that were possible.

Big step forward for us today!
In our version 2 datalogger, we successfully KYD hashed the physical electrical measurement parameters of an in-line current sensor with the SLR blockchain in a concatenation anchor hash. This adds security to our datalogger at the grid edge. The datalogger is running 3 operating systems.

Many thanks!
