Blackrock iShare Bitcoin Trust ETF has increased their position from $499M to $707M as of 16th January 2024...

Here are some key facts about three full days of trading in the books as of the close of business on Tuesday:
  • net inflows into the spot bitcoin ETF appear to be about 21,000 bitcoin (BTC), or $894 million at the current price of $42,600.
  • BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) leads the way by adding 16,362 bitcoin.
  • Second is Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) with 12,112 bitcoin.
  • Sizable exits from Grayscale's Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), which has lost about 25,000 bitcoin, brought down the overall industry inflow.

Eh...so, like, is that all? Really?

Small potatoes.

Shit, Elon Musk bought $1.5B worth of BTC all in one go not too long ago.

Just for the Lulz.

These ETF trust guys are amateurs.  Roll Eyes

We don't need to be worried about an AI that's going to fuck over humanity.

We have politicians that fuck over humanity every single day, like it's their job, and they actually get paid the big bucks for it.

Annnd people actually vote and re-elect these same fuckers into power every few years.
Roll Eyes

While the highlighted sentences above are true, the dangers of an advanced AI becoming sentient and taking control are unknown and should be expected to be orders of magnitude greater.

We do need to be worried about it!

We?

Does "we" include very (small elitist) group actively pursuing and making this AI shit and unleashing it on the world? Because they don't seem to care. Like at all.

Maybe take it up with them? Lol.

(Sorry, not trying to snark, but "concerned people" always seem to have the ire misplaced toward the wrong group. They always want to make it "the plebs problem")

To paraphrase that long winded AI blah blah blah ....  <big yawn>

But the lack of proudhon posts is not a good sign.

And the current 15-min chart is mental torture...

Looks like most is going into Vitalik's shitecoin.
As usual, it will flow back later.

Most people don't realize, it's the ETH market that the traders play now. Bitcoin used as a lever.

Hilarious @ all these tech corps, finance corps and banks announce a "10% staff reduction" in Jan/Feb every year. Then many of them do it again in the Fall.

Hey dipshits, you do that for 2 1/2 years straight, you've effectively downsized your entire company by 50-fkn percent. Half your employees, gone. And that's bad. Really bad.

You didn't think the plebs would notice? Yeah...we did...  Roll Eyes

No one ever asks the real question : "Why now?"

So, why now?

In an ever-increasing Ponzi world where all corporations are now zombie entities on the verge of collapse, and wealthy elites and financial institutions have nowhere left to run (with their money) for hedge and protection, a new "where" must be endorsed to run to.

In just 14 years they've moved from scoffing and laughing at bitcoin, to embracing and institutionalizing it. And they never wanted to embrace it.

So why now?

Because yes, now, it's gotten that bad.
28  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 10, 2024, 05:58:57 PM
Is there a valid reason an "independent" government agency needs to wait until the last second of a deadline to make a decision?

In order to maximize fuckery and shenanigans?

They could have approved these spot ETFs years ago. Other than recently knocking out a few bad actors (and new ones appear all the time), nothing has changed in years.

No one ever asks the real question : "Why now?"

Hope to be wrong, but with how hyper bullish the media is being (as well as the shill/trolls in this very WO thread) about the "inevitable" and "sure thing" Bitcoin ETF approvals this week...

....I'm sensing a sell-the-news head fake coming.   Undecided

I mean god forbid that it's all priced in already. They never do that, riiiight?   Roll Eyes

Reacher season 2 out. Cheesy

Haven't watched yet. Is it any good?

So far it is, watched the first 3.

Quote
I rather liked season 1.

Yeah season one kicked serious ass!

Ok, I watched Reacher season 2, the first 3 episodes.

Loving it so far! Could say it's even better than the first season.

The talent Jim Cramer has to be so incorrect so often cannot be ignored. I wonder at this point if he says things like this to manipulate his trade or if he really is the worst investment analyst of all time. His calls are so terrible it makes me think it has to go deeper than him just being the absolute worst at his job. It has to be manipulation.

It's not talent he has, it's insider trading knowledge.

What he tells the public to do or not do, does not match what he himself does in private.

I'm convinced that he has been controlled opposition for some long time now, luring Average Joe n00b investors into eventual losing strategies and trades, causing them to buy the wrong thing and hold, buy the right thing at the wrong time, or sell the right thing too early.

He's a tool for TPTB to keep people confused and poor, so that they continue working their entire adult lives and pay taxes.

Jim Cramer says: BTC is a reality. It’s a technological marvel, and people need to start recognizing that it’s here to stay.

Tomorrow is the 15th anniversary of the Genesis Block - the first block of Bitcoin that was mined on January 3rd, 2009.

I would give you -50 merit for posting this if I could. Cramer is the biggest cooler in the world . Damn you !

Yeah seriously, fuck that guy.

There is a YouTube video from 2013 (that I can't find now, probably been scrubbed) where a random guy asks him if Bitcoin is a good investment, to which Jim Cramer replies "No, absolutely not!"

FUCK FUCK THAT GUY.

Watched the first season of 'Blue Eye Samurai' on Netflix.

Really good stuff. Great even, compared to the last couple years of Hollyweird's pure garbage. Amazing animation, and awesome character development.

The writers really nailed how you're supposed to do a convincing Strong Female Character lead.

Sure, a few niggles here and there (aka a few 'woke' elements disguised very well), but nothing to detract from it overall.

Episode 5, "The Tale of the Ronin and the Bride", is an absolute masterwork of storytelling.

To those that sold everything, or waiting to get back in, this is a reminder why you should..

MicroStrategy has acquired an additional 14,620 BTC for ~$615.7 million at an average price of $42,110 per #bitcoin. As of 12/26/23,
@MicroStrategy
now hodls 189,150 $BTC acquired for ~$5.9 billion at an average price of $31,168 per bitcoin.
I fear what would happen to the market when they start selling those BTC, the market may face a huge dump. If I'm not wrong then the MicroStrategy won't be selling their Bitcoin at least for the time when Bitcoin doesn't reaches $1M a Bitcoin.

Their business model is to act as a levered bitcoin play, supported by equity sells and a small cash flow from their other business.
Basically, it is a 2X bitcoin ETF, but with no slippage (which happen in "regular" futures based 2X ETFs, which are typically to run away from).
They will probably de-lever a bit later on.
Ideally, they should de-lever during peaks and lever up during troughs, but imho, Michael Saylor got 'caught up' a little in Dec 2022.
Thankfully, he did not have covenants that might have caused him to sell at a very inopportune moment.
I calculate that at some point in Dec 2022, MSTR probably had almost zero equity: about 2X leverage at 29-30K with the price at $15-16K means that equity was then zero or perilously close to it.

Wall Street whale shark traders will often band together to mega short against certain firms/companies using high leverage, in an attempt to margin call them (and thoroughly embarrass them).

That's why they haven't been able to do much damage to investors like Cathie Wood, I read that she doesn't use leverage.

I think it's just new year downity. Fiscal years and all. For privates who hold a bit of corn in a legit tax arrangement, it is much better if the price on the 31th is as low as possible, for accounting purposes.

^^^^
This. Selling for tax purposes.

I'm so glad to see movie review sites not being paid off by Hollywood anymore to write gushing reviews of terrible movies, and finally getting back to writing brutally honest critical reviews of terrible movies.

Watched 'Rebel Moon - A Child of Fire (part 1)' last night.

Was curious to see if this bad review was on the mark.

It was.

I won't be watching part 2.

Hollywood is quadrupling (quintupling?) down on churning out more of the the ESG-funded-all-spectacle-and-no-substance drivel.

There is now no more money left to write woke propaganda in support of terrible woke movies such as Indiana Jones and The British Arsehole Woman.
Hollywood has pretty much died on its ass this year. If it hadn't been for Barbie and Oppenheimer literally almost all Hollywood movies over $100 million can be considered failures this year (Super Mario Bros is a French/Japanese made movie distributed by Universal).

<snip>

--sorry for the long rant.  Grin

In addition to everything that you said, which even most normies these day now realize, they are also changing cinema into "corporate product" built specifically for a future of streaming.

Remember when studios were desperate to trim movies down to 1h:30m, and a series episode to 45m runtime?

Well imagine a world where directors are now being flat out told to pad their movies and tv shows with useless boring filler shots, lengthening their runtime significantly, because the studios will want to "cram as many commercial breaks as we can into them in the future".

That is already happening, without a doubt.
