22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SCSY] Securitysyscoin | BitCoinShop | C-Cex | Android App | IRC in Wallet | on: November 05, 2014, 07:38:47 PM
SCSY has just been added to AllCrypt.com! The coin is live and available right now, although the blockchain might still be downloading - if so, deposits and deposit address generation will not be available until the blockchain is complete.

We have (or will very soon) post an announcement on Twitter as well. Follow us on twitter (@all_crypt or https://twitter.com/All_Crypt) to help spread the word and keep abreast of site news and updates.

We'd appreciate being listed as an active exchange in the OP of the this thread. If you'd like a high quality PNG logo to use, a zip is available at: http://www.allcrypt.com/aclogopack.zip

Important note: It sucks for everyone when there is a fork, or a version upgrade, and we don't get notified. Sometimes developers just tweet that there is an upgrade. We're busy running the site - very often we miss tweets - we get a lot every day! If there is an emergency upgrade, a hard fork coming in less than a week, a major issue that requires an immediate upgrade, if it's tweeted at us we may not see it. The only truly RELIABLE way to ensure we know about a mandatory upgrade is to submit a support ticket. Just have someone hop by http://support.allcrypt.com and let us know. We see those all the time, including on the dev staff's mobile devices.

If for some reason your github source changes (community takeover for example) PLEASE let us know that in the ticket. Our system is highly automated, and if you issue a new source code under a new git address, we won't know unless thats provided - our system will check the old address for the new version. Since we save it, you only need to worry about it if the github location changes. In all other cases, just letting us know we need to upgrade is enough!

I think that covers it! Thanks for your support of AllCrypt and we're proud to support you in return!

Removing Maki since even the dev quit it. All remaining balances will be deleted on 11/3/2014. But since we have not received a new block in over 83 hours, withdrawals are unlikely.

32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Advertising spam is not allowed on: October 08, 2014, 10:08:44 PM
Well unsurprisingly after posting that I had 23 deleted posts. Shocking.

So, here's what I can gather:

From a few pages back, someone asked this (paraphrased) scenario:

User CoinDev starts a thread for his coin. Lots of people post.

User CoinMiner posts in the thread, "Hey, we can mine this at superpool.org and trade it at coinexchange.com!"

That is considered advertising spam, even though CoinMiner has nothing to do with those organizations.

I presume then that you mods are diligently working at removing any mention of "Lets get our coin on Cryptsy!" and "Go vote to get us on Mintpal!" and "Dude we just broke 3 BTC volume over on Bittrex!" posts right? I would surely hope so. Because if you aren't, exchange and pool operators may be forced to make alternate accounts and post in these threads as excited users who are talking about their coins.

Seriously. It was mentioned (I may be wrong, I scanned the first 5 pages, didnt see it, and have work to do tonight, so going off memory) that UnrelatedUser can NOT tell a coin's thread that the coin has been listed somewhere.

If it is NOT allowed, please go remove those posts.

If it IS allowed, well, IP addresses are easy to come by.

And, if, as you stated above, posts may be removed by indirectly referencing a service or product offered, and by being off topic, this post should also immediately be removed: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=279771.msg3005830#msg3005830

It's off topic, as it's talking about domain name registration, and is quite directly referencing Burger King. After reading that post, I want a burger, because that was very clearly advertising.

If anyone wants to step up and point out how absolutely absurd that is, go for it. But, by the rules posted here (and given their changing and not-clearly-defined nature, as well as being completely inconsistently applied), that post should be removed. Its off topic, and it's advertising.

And if its NOT advertising, I'm making a new account, and posting in threads about how I like AllCrypt.com, it's a well built exchange.

Which is it? Because you can't have both under the rules you just outlined.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Advertising spam is not allowed on: October 08, 2014, 06:31:53 PM
In response to the rule, we will not stop announcing that we have listed the coin. Instead, we're posting this:

----

<COIN NAME> has just been added to a mystery exchange which we are not allowed to mention by name! If you can figure out which one it is based on who's posting this, you might be lucky enough  to get over there to trade! But, due to the new absurd "advertising spam" rules (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=718124.0) we are not allowed to say who we are.  Because that's advertising. So, let's hope you can figure it out! We're hoping this isn't advertising spam as we are not mentioning any exchange, and the coin could have been posted  to any, really. What a mystery!

The coin is possibly (but maybe not) live and available right now, although the blockchain might still be downloading and deposits might not appear until this is complete. Assuming an exchange, randomly chosen, did in fact, list it.

We have (or will very soon) post an announcement on Twitter as well. Follow us on twitter (@all_crypt or https://twitter.com/All_Crypt - Hope it's ok to post a twitter handle! We were only told we cannot post links to our sites?) to help spread the word and keep abreast of site news and updates.

We'd very much appreciate being listed as an active exchange in the OP of the this thread. If you'd like a high quality PNG logo to use, a zip is available at:

http://www.[figure it out for yourself].com/aclogopack.zip

An important note: It sucks for everyone when there is a fork, or a version upgrade, and we don't get notified. Sometimes developers just tweet that there is an upgrade. We're busy  running the site - we do not have time to read every tweet we are mentioned in every day. We read them, in time, but if it's an emergency upgrade (a fork) or there is a hard fork coming in less than a week - we may not see it. We unfortunately do not have time to read every forum thread of every coin we list - we'd love to - and we do read the forums as much as we can, but keeping up with every coin would be a full time job for multiple people. We'd rather spend that money on hardware and new code and features. Wink

The only truly RELIABLE way to ensure we know about a mandatory upgrade is to submit a support ticket. Just have someone hop by http://support.[mystery website].com and let us know. We see those all the time, and some of us have the app on our phones and see support tickets instantly.

If for some reason your github source changes (community takeover for example) PLEASE let us know that in the ticket. We save the github sources so we don't have to scour for it again later - and if you have an upgrade, but we're checking the old source code, it will really delay the upgrade. You only need to provide a github source if the source has changed.

I think that covers it! Thanks for your support of [insert random exchange name here] and we're proud to support you in return! You know, assuming we actually did list the coin. We might not have.

-----

If that's advertising spam, I'll change it again. And again. Until it reaches the point that accounts owned by pools/exchanges/websites are not allowed to post ANYTHING AT ALL. You know, until the real reason this is being done is fulfilled - until we pay.

I think we'd all rather it just be said plainly: "Pay us." At least that'd have a small degree of respectability. Whats hilarious is that none of us, except maybe Bittrex and Mintpal and Cryptsy are likely making enough money off these endeavors to afford to pay the absurdly high advertising rates here. I've looked into it. Hiring someone to run a precisely targeted AdWords campaign is cheaper than tiny advertising space here. The last aucton ended with a slot costing 4 BTC for 1 week. They are stating about 2 million impressions, but there are only about 200k unique IPs. No statistics about click-throughs, which is what just about everyone else uses, so, hard to compare. And since there are 8 slots, people always buy more than 1 to increase their visibility. Lowest last round was 2 slots. At 4 BTC each.

For $2400 I can get one hell of an awesome Google AdWords rep putting on one amazing ad campaign. For a hell of a lot longer than a week. With infinitely more visibility.

Bargain this site is.

I must say I'm pretty impressed that COOL has survived this long without an active dev or community takeover and it doesn't look like the coin is going down anytime soon  Smiley

Except there hasn't been a new block in 187 hours. We have 1 connection, and no new blocks. The coin is being removed in 7 days unless there is a fix, AND we are notified of it so we can turn off the auto-removal.

Not sure what ya'll did but I had to bastardize code from sgh-miner to get it to work. Whatever the groestl code is in the coin and the miner is NOT the code thats released at groestl.info. That hash algo could in no way generate hashes that the coin does.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRS] GroestlCoin: 1st Grøstl | Unmoded Grøstl Thread | AES accelerated on: September 26, 2014, 08:01:09 PM
Technical question: We are implementing some backend upgrades that takes some work off the wallets. Part of this is internal address validation. When you attempt a withdrawal and enter an address, instead of asking the wallet if the address is good via RPC (which can be slow if the wallet server, or actual wallet, is under heavy load at that moment), we are now computing the address hash internally.

Problem: The groestl algo is not working right. We are using a module built directly off the groestl code, and when we compute the address checksum, it is NOT the same as the checksum that the wallet is computing. Either the coin devs modified the algo (The blake coin people modified blake slightly, but it was easy enough to find), they are not using the standard for groestl, or I'm really missing something. Spent 3 hours today on this when I could be working on more important parts of the exchange.

Anyone have any clue?
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Pool advertising is no longer allowed on: September 17, 2014, 05:23:16 PM
I disagree with this.  Next thing you know I'll get banned for posting something like "Hey, since all the other pools are busted why don't you try my pool at http://blabla.minemyshit.com"  Would that be considered "advertising?"

For the record, a screenshot, arguably, in the most absurdly strict sense, this is an ad, I guess?

Quote
If someone asks a question like "Hey which pools are working right now" and I respond with "My pool at http://blabla.minemyshit.com is working great, come on over" will I get in trouble for that?  Should we expect everyone interested in mining to try every pool listed in the OP, which is not always current and definitely does not show status (working or not, forked or not), to find a working pool?

And actually what I find to be extremely disturbing, THIS is apparently "advertising spam":

My website address is in my signature. Shall I expect all my posts to be removed shortly?
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Advertising spam is not allowed on: September 17, 2014, 05:09:27 PM
Wait - I recently had a lot of posts removed.

Are you telling me that posting in a coin's thread that the coin is now listed on our site is considered "advertising spam"?

We aren't advertising, and we aren't spamming. We're letting the community of that specific coin know that their coin has been listed. It's not indiscriminate spam in random threads, it's a very specific, posted once, notice that they can now trade their coin on our exchange.

Are you saying I need to make a post in the marketplace and hope that all these coins check the 20 different exchange threads there on a daily basis in hopes that they see our thread that they were listed?

Thats bordering on absurd.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SPC][PoF] SaveCoin | Proof of Fund Coin | 64% Interest Annually / 0.137% Daily on: September 16, 2014, 01:18:12 AM
AllCrypt.com needs some solution from the devs.

It's impossible to host this coin on an exchange properly, with the way the interest is paid.

It comes into a wallet address as a deposit. Not as a stake, not as a special 'category' but as a 'receive'.

Which leads to users who are attached to a SPC address getting interest payments credited to their allcrypt.com account when they, in many cases, do not even have SPC anymore.

User (A) creates address. Deposits 100 SPC. Exchange balance: 100, Wallet balance: 100
User (B) has had an address and has SPC for sale. Exchange balance: 10,000, Wallet Balance: 10,000
User (C) never deposited any. Balances 0.

User (A) buys all 10,000 SPC from user (B).

Now user (A) has an exchange balance of 10,100 and a wallet balance of 100.
User (B) has an exchange balance of 0, and a wallet balance of 10,000
User C buys 3,000 SPC from another unrelated user and withdraws it. Because the way wallets are designed, 100 of that 3000 comes from user A's wallet, and 2900 comes from user B's wallet. End result:

User A has 10,100 SPC but a wallet balance of 0.
User B has 0 SPC, but still has a wallet balance of 7,100 SPC.
User C is back to a 0 balance in both.

User (A) gets NO interest payments whatsoever. User B, who hasn't owned any SPC in weeks, is getting daily payouts for a balance he doesn't even own. He mentions this in chat, and User A is now pissed that he's being "ripped off".

The way they are just showing up as deposits is a frigging nightmare and has our wallet accounting horrifically out of whack. To the point I'm about to just force everyone to withdraw their SPC and turn the wallet off.

Is there any way to fix this, or a way to query the transaction to see that it's NOT a deposit and instead an interest payment? Anything WE look at just shows an incoming payment with a huge amount of change going back to an address that constantly changes (so we can't even say 'its interest because the input address is always the same'). There is absolutely ZERO way to tell it's an interest payment as opposed to a 'real' deposit. And it's a massive pain in the rear dealing with the screwed up accounting and irritated customers.

40  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Pywallet 2.2: manage your wallet [Update required] on: September 12, 2014, 01:28:08 PM
Is the import accessable through the command line? I took a closer look last night and it doesn't appear to be. Thats all I need, I can script the rest.

Anyone have any reference online on the format for all that? I'd prefer to read up and learn as opposed to spending hours breaking a wallet and learning. One is much more efficient Wink

Thanks for all your hard work by the way jack. PM me a donation address I'll throw some BTC your way. Before I started allcrypt I used pywallet to recover keys lost on a personal wallet when I had a hard drive crash, and it's an invaluable tool with our site. So many times we need to remove a 0 confirmation transaction to recover a withdrawal from a wallet that was too stupid to set it's own fee correctly. Would be nigh impossible without pywallet.
