21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [TEK] TEK COIN - Rebooting ... on: December 26, 2019, 08:36:51 AM
I remember TEK and the cool community it had and I see some of the people still here from so long ago, long in terms of the crypto world. It would be interesting to see TEK live again in an updated version of itself with the issues that caused problems with it in the past resolved.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🔶 [ANN][XRC] Bitcoin Rhodium — Not a fork. Low Supply. PoW. Quarterly Rewards on: December 25, 2019, 10:37:09 AM
News for investors and holders. Strong Hands Program rewards will remain doubled (16072 XRC) till the end of the program. We are aiming to finish SHP around first XRC halving.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Thank you, that is really good news for those that just want to hold and continue to see how development progresses over the next year. Everything seems to be down in the crypto world now, so projects that continue development are important to watch.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nervos CKB bringing back GPU Mining?! Dual Mine Ethereum and CKB | How To Mine on: December 25, 2019, 09:32:53 AM
Looks interesting and its nice to see that they have a wallet out now.  Since more and more ROI guys are falling out of mining again its important to look for long term projects that can be sustained.

Thanks for the video
Spinning up a rig early on for a few days can sometimes be more gainful than mining long term once the project takes off.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Troubleshooting A 6 1080 TI Graphics Card Mining Rig on: December 25, 2019, 09:10:04 AM
Evga power supplies are pretty solid especially the platinum versions as I have yet to have one fail on me with constant mining use over years. I did have a Evga gold power supply die on me, but it had a pretty decent life span so I am not that concerned.

Thanks for the video, I am sure it will be useful to those getting started
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How To Build An EASY Off Grid Solar System - Mining Cryptocurrency - Part 1 on: December 25, 2019, 08:05:35 AM
I personally use a grid tied setup to offset mining and bank power on the days that solar is running with optimal sunlight and temps. If you are off grid solar and batteries may be your only option, but for many people with grid tied systems, you might be better off just buying more solar panels or increasing the density with 300+ watt panels. I think batteries will become a viable option if John B. Goodenough gets his new solid state batteries to a point that they can be mass produced.

Scam warning

A user is posting fake links to cpuminer-opt. Don't download.

The only real cpuminer-opt is here and only here:

https://github.com/JayDDee/cpuminer-opt

Thanks for the head up, I am sure the link they are posting has a download filled with all kinds of holiday goodies intended to make his/her holidays more festive. Its a good reminder to always double check things before you click them, because even the best of us get caught slipping sometimes.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XFX Radeon RX 570 8GB, good for mining? on: December 24, 2019, 01:08:55 AM
Hello

I'm thinking of riding a rig with these gpus, they have a very good price.

Seeing that the memories do not have refrigeration, the models I have tested of sapphire, gigabyte and msi (570) all have refrigeration.

My question is if these memories get very hot, has anyone used them to mining these XFX rx 570 8GB?

https://www.xfxforce.com/gpus/amd-radeon-tm-rx-570-rs-8gb-xxx-edition-2

I would appreciate any information:)

apologies for writing bad english

Cheers!!

I have two of the rx 570 xfx cards and I love them because of the dual bios which when used gets you about 30 mh/s on eth and you can pick them up very cheap. I have them undervolted and they do not get hot at all with the fan running at 55% and sipping power. Ideally the RX 5700 from xfx for $300 that gets 52 mh/s is a better choice if you can get it at that price. If I was not upgrading to 5700 models I would buy all XFX rx 570 cards with dual bios.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining xmr vs using nicehash on: December 24, 2019, 12:58:09 AM
i only have around 14000 hs on randomx  via nicehash, whats the chances i would be better of mining direct to a pool and selling for BTC, is there are any exchanges that are low enough fee's ? since nicehash have stopped the repayment program i have been having doubts about them been in trouble with money. i know mining xmr direct gives m the option of selling if/when the prices goes up

You can also use places like https://miningpoolhub.com/ or other auto exchange type mining services that let you mine in the algorithm of your choice and have it pay out in Bitcoin or other supported coins.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Ryzen 9 🖥️ 3900x RandomX mining benchmarks on: December 12, 2019, 03:43:41 PM
guys who where telling me that 2 memory sticks will be cap, and there wont be any speed increase if i add more memory where wrong. Ading 2 more sticks to my current system increased my performance by 10% without any over-clocks. Video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeVhjAfgMqw&t

That is an interesting find, I would not have thought that anything other than dual channel memory or quad channel memory(in a system that supports it) would have an impact the hash rate. It makes me wonder if populating all the memory channels in a threadripper system would have similar results. I do not think the gains are enough to warrant the extra memory, but it would be a fun experiment just for the sake of science.

I like your build in the video, the MSI cards look pretty sweet

Can anyone proficient in Linux try this RandomX boost guide?

https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/e962fu/9526_hs_on_ryzen_7_3700x_xmrig_520_1gb_pages_msr/

I was able to get +5% on my R7 3700X, I think 9526 h/s is a record for this CPU now.

What kind of power draw are you getting with this setup, I imagine its something north of 150+ watts for the cpu give or take 10 watts.
Right now it's 9614 h/s and 156 W @ the wall (51 W when idle), so CPU itself is drawing 105W. I haven't tried to optimize it yet and I have Vega 64 idling in that PC too, so it's not very efficient.

This setup got me to 8880 h/s from my original 8444 h/s on a 3ghz threadripper and dropped the power draw by about 9-10 watts going from 185 to 175-176 at the wall. I am sure I could get it to 10000+ h/s but that would take water and a much larger power draw. Pretty happy with this gain and drop in power consumption

I finally ended up going down to a 3 GHZ clock speed on the threadripper 1950x cpu with 3400 ram speed and a gtx 1060 sitting idle. The cpu temp sits around 62-63c with a Noctua U14S and 3 low power draw case fans to make sure I have decent airflow. I am getting 8444 h/s with this setup while drawing about 185 watts at the wall and keeping temps at an acceptable level. This is not a profitable setup but it is the most efficient setup for a hobby miner with a threadripper they want to play around with and not overheat.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 4.8c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: December 10, 2019, 03:16:22 PM
Hi, I bought a 5700, seems there is no optimizations anywhere, I got clean 51MH at 110w, not bad, but sure can do 60+

Anyone knows any bios editor for 5700 series?

Thank you

I have a 5700 on the way and I have heard of people flashing the 5700 bios to a 5700xt (same model bios)to gain a 10% performance increase over the original bios. I may give this a shot once mine gets in and I have some time to do some testing with it.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Ryzen 9 🖥️ 3900x RandomX mining benchmarks on: December 07, 2019, 11:48:01 PM
I was able to get the hash rate up up to 9300 h/s on a threadripper 1950x with a small jump in memory speeds up from 3200 to 3333 with stock cpu settings. The heat generated even with the cpu fan running full blast seems a bit much, so I will probably run with less cores until I can get it to and acceptable level.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Ryzen 9 🖥️ 3900x RandomX mining benchmarks on: December 06, 2019, 05:56:07 PM
I am getting around 4600 h/s on RandomX with a threadripper 1950x with 32 gb of ram at 3200 in a quad channel setup. Looks like faster dual channel memory has a bigger impact than the quad channel setup.

14 threads seems to be the sweet spot

What miner are you using? I guess shouldnt really matter xmrig/xmrstak preety much same hashrate

I dont get how you can get so low hashrate, hmm have you set large pages and that miner allocate it correctly?  so it shows like "JIT 1020/1020" and not "JIT 20/1020"

You should have double hashrate then what you have.

My 12 core TR1920x does 7500 h/s  with 3200 cl 16  and 16gb quad channel memory (4x4)gb  this @ 3,7ghz cpu and 1.15v

So yeah something strange with your setup man, if you have popped in the wrong memory slots eg A1  B1 etc etc ...   Correct placement in your manual.

Also could you link your batch file with cpu affinity / threads.

If you could make a batch file in xmrig folder and do this :
Code:
@echo off
xmrig.exe, -o PoolUrl, -u YourWalletadress.Workername, -t 16, --cpu-affinity 0x55555555, --cpu-priority 5, -l, --log-file=Troubleshooting
pause

I ended up bumping up the large page files to 2048 in linux after reading the results you are getting with a 1920x and I am now getting close to 9000 h/s which is a major bump. I think I may be able to get more from what I am reading from other users by increasing the page file size with quad channel memory. Thanks for the feedback and tips, it helped me almost double my original results

The total supply is approaching 8 million which makes the Rare Cryptocurrency statement false and it will only get worse unless we decide to change the statement to common. We would have to drop the staking number by a large percentage and do a fork that would be similar to a reverse stock split to stay true to the statement. In the end you just have to look at what unique feature/features this Cryptocurrency brings to the table and why people would want to use it.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Ryzen 9 🖥️ 3900x RandomX mining benchmarks on: November 26, 2019, 03:26:12 PM
Thanks for taking the time to put together this information, it really helps when deciding if its worth using these to mine or just get one for a kick-butt editing system. Memory seems to have a big impact on RandomX so I will be interested to see how it impacts the hash rate. It makes me wonder what kind of impact the new Threadrippers with quad channel memory will have on mining performance compared to dual channel.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: November 18, 2019, 10:40:18 PM
nvidia 3000 series rumored to be released 1st half of 2020, 1080ti users can now skip a generation

3080ti is 16GB BTW

if that comes to be true in the future then the launch of the new lineup of gpus from nvidia is way sooner than gtx 10 series and rtx 20 series
this release will also make gtx series obsolete and rtx will will available for really attractive prices

I hope they make better models without RTX cores and something with more than 6gb on the lower end.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Energi [NRG] Cryptocurrency for World Adoption | PoS | MN | No-ICO or Premine | on: November 17, 2019, 12:31:22 PM
Are you able to react on my concern regarding the trade washing of NRG at DigiFinex?

@ EnergiCrypto

Energi has no control over what happens or doesn't happen on DigiFinex in regards to trading.  As you say, it is your opinion based on your research, and we of course would advise everyone to always do their own research and not depend on here say to come to a conclusion.

Not sure.  A lot of questions in this thread are left unanswered.  We don't even know what wallet we should use to receive it.  It must be the current one at the website.

I know the community is very active in discord, you may want to pop in now and then if you have any questions regarding staking or when to upgrade your wallet.
