so nest egg 2 with 2 acorns 215+ right.

now do i need to use the usb ports on it?? is that the purpose. to not use the 1x risers and just plug right into the usb vs the 1x adapter?

or am i missing it. cause honestly this whole thing is very very very.......... something Smiley..

but as a serious buyer i need a lil guiding light if u can shine on how i would go about setting it up.

no I think  you are in need of 1

 4 card with 4 acorns

your board has tons of usb ports.

you have no need of   more of them

and I believe  that you board has a full slot that is 16x  so it can handle  4 acorns fully  and spread their power to all the usb jacks your board has.

But I could be wrong  so you may want to wait.

Now While I am pretty sure I am right about that board let me link the board.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2W06P37326

so is this your board?

http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en%2Dus/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=884#specification

a 4 card  should be better with that board.  but I could be wrong as I often am.

What? That's not right. (the line in bold above, re: the USB ports)

The USB ports on the Next X2G are not actually USB, but rather PCIEx1 that just happen to use USB cables to connect to normal USB-type riser cards. Think of the USB ports on the Nest like they are USB ports on PCIEx1 adapters for risers.

Take a look at this image:

The USB ports on the Nest X2G are like the port that is circled in red.

The whole idea of the Nest X2g is to use the two Acorns to accelerate GPUs on risers plugged into the ports on the next without having to eat up PCIE slots on the mobo. How many USB ports you have on you mobo doesn't mean anything in the context of Nests an Acorns.

So I got that same email and was too busy to deal with it right away. When I did get around to looking at things I wanted to see how bad it was. Well, it turns out that there must have been some kind of outage on 25-October because there was a gap in rewards from 03:13 hours until 20:25 hours, then a bunch of rewards between 20:27 hours to 20:44 hours. The final total for the day was ~35% below the previous days and the subsequent days. Additionally, there was some weird behavior with the hosting fees such that the charges were ~50% higher than usual based on previous and subsequent days.

The semi-colon separated values file that you can download with the hosting fees, mining rewards, and wtt rental earnings was hard on the eyes so I wrote some python 3 code to break it down for me such that I have one line per day that shows all three values and a final column that shows me the net. It's not ready for prime time, but when it is I'll post the code here. It's about 20 lines of code, excluding blank lines and comments.

Hi everyone! We wanted to let everyone know that Acorns and Nests will begin shipping this week! We want to get everyone up and running on their new hardware and mining away as soon as possible, so the initial released software won’t yet be the full SQRL Miner stack, and will include ETH, CNv7/8, and RVN support initially. This should let everyone get started mining, and we expect some big and continual updates over the coming weeks.

who bought at the time of ethereum to 1000 dollars have now lost everything. Who mined, have now the miner

I mined ethereum with a single GPU (MSI R7-370 4GB) rig that earned me 16 coins before it became nothing more than a noisy heater. The rig has morphed and some of the coin it mined has been put into the current iteration. I used it to learn about gnu mining and mess with new gear. This rig is the one that will get the Nest X4 with CLE-215+s added to it. Will it ROI in 3 months? Unlikely. in 12 months? Dunno. That will depend on what coins I mine and what the market thinks of them.

I also bought ethereum, but not at $1000.

why does the nest2 have 4 USB ports and the nest4 does not?

http://squirrelsresearch.com/acorn-nest-x2g/

AcornNest X2G allows you to host two Acorn units in any PCIe 2.0 or greater x8 or x16 slot and provides four USB PCIe riser connections for accelerated GPUs without any special motherboard requirements.
versus

http://squirrelsresearch.com/acorn-nest-x4/

AcornNest X4 allows you to host four Acorn units in a PCIe 2.0/3.0 x16 or PCIe 3.0 x8 slot without any special motherboard requirements.

It includes an onboard DMA engine to reduce CPU load, as well as advanced Acorn power utilization and performance monitoring.

That doesn’t answer the question of WHY. It says that the 2x has USB ports. And doesn’t say anything about the 4x lacking them. Why does one have it and the other does not? What was the reason for not including them on the 4x? Why are they necessary at all?

The USB ports are not actually USB, they are PCIE so you can plug in PCIE risers.

Are they covered by WTT? Fully covered L3 is profitable ( hosting fee consumes ~70-80% reward).
I have L3 miners and shed loads of WTT  they became unprofitable so ive switched them off as advised by gigawatt.
Im not sure how to switch them back on now as it says they are now under repair

I would imagine that if you want to power up the miner(s) you can open a support case/ticket.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: October 27, 2018, 09:31:19 PM

It's an Nest X2G. I clicked on the link and zoomed in, and you can clearly see the USB ports on the left side of the image.

When I get my Nest X4 and CLE215+ FPGAs I will post some pics of the build and some screen-shots of the miner in action. My plan is combine the Nest+FPGAs with my two hydro 1080TIs (Thanks Phil!) to mine altcoins.

The original thread starter does not come to this thread very often because of cancer filled comments. Want something answered? ask it on discord. Too many trolls and toxic people here calling it a scam, why should he have to waste his time arguing with people like you?

Discord is a Circle Jerk where you get banned for not touting the party line. Freedom of speech comes with these drawbacks. Welcome to a place you can speak your mind and you won't be banned for it.

I've been on their discord channel for quite some time, and the only folks I saw get banned were the jerks who added nothing but ad hominem attacks and insults to anyone and everyone they could. Phil asked essentially the same hard questions he asked here and got some answers but not banned. He surely was not following the party line.

I am speaking of "Discord" not a specific channel.
Your post wasn't particularly clear on that, given we are in the Acorn FPGA message thread.

Guys can you share your hashrate for 1060 6gb/1070/1080ti with x16r algo.

I used 1.22 version of z-enemy my hashrate for 1060 is around 9mh/s for 1070 I got around 11mh/s for all 1080ti my hashrate is 23-27.

Can you recommend what clock is the best to mine on x16r algo if the electricity rate doesn't matter?

On x16r I am seeing 26-28 MH/s on my 1080TIs with 1.22 CUDA 10 running on ethOS 1.3.3.

What is the core/memory clock?

Scroll up a few messages. I posted what offsets I am using for core and mem.

In the first time that I run my 1080ti I can get almost 33-35mh/s but after a few hours the hashrate down to 23 to 27mh/s.
I'm using "Cuda 9.2  ( drivers ver 398+)" Are you using a default clock? Could you share some good clock and mclock settings, it seems that you can get better hashrate than mine.

I hope OhMyGod_company can develop a new software to push the GTX 1080ti for better performance like ETHpill.

your mileage and hash rate may vary, but this is what I am using:
Code:
flags -a x16r -i 21.5 -R 5
globalcore +175
globalmem -502
globalfan 20
globalpowertune 180

I have it limited to 180 Watts per card, you can let it go higher if you want. These same settings with z-enemy 1.10 on CUDA 9 were yielding 18-20 MH/s per card.

The free ethlargementpill only works for memory hungry algos and only on cards with GDDR5X VRAM. If you want something more, consider becoming a customer of OhGodACompany and see what they have available.

-August: was told No Acorn refunds, under any circumstance.  2 months later refunds for everyone (dont know why)

Short answer is supply chain issues. longer answers below. I have a (delayed) September pre-order; I received an email on 4-October asking if I wanted a refund or was willing to wait. I opted to wait. We'll see what happens.

Acorn Update: We still have not received our fans and heatsinks for final assembly, other than one tray of samples. We were able to confirm they shipped and are in customs, but have only been given a typical time it takes for them to clear. We have located a source for the Nest chips Broadcom wasn’t able to provide as ordered, and expect those to arrive this week to begin assembly. As soon as completed units are available we will begin shipping. At this time the supplier estimates we received have been inaccurate, so I can’t provide an exact date until components are all in our hands. Thank you for your patience.

The majority of Acorns and Nests will still ship in October, we have over 1000 complete Acorn kits at our facility already awaiting assembly and test behind the 1525s

If you want to buy some, check on escodex:
https://wallet.escodex.com/market/ESCODEX.VLM_ESCODEX.BTC
but the volume is pretty low.

You can mine velum. I use zealot/enemy miner on my 2x1080Ti rig. I get ~40MH/s.

by saying they/police do not see a intention on dwarfminer side to steal the money from myself

Did they elaborate on what kind of proof would make them change their mind?

BTW this is the right way to do it. Even though you didn't succeed I would encourage everyone who lost money to contact their local law enforcement.

Yep;  this is the proper method to try and get some sort of return from this problem.

But honestly;  I ran out of popcorn about 2 months ago.....

Here yah go, Moar popcorn!

Been out of the ASIC loop for a while.

A buddy wants to get a quiet (non-loud) ASIC to play around with Cryptos. He will be sleeping in the same room as the ASIC and wants it to make heat and noise but not too much heat and noise.

Only one I Could think of was that Antminer S7-LN that he can hack and add some case fans.

Any other quiet ASICs out there? Similiar to an Antminer S3 in noise?

If you can find a S7-LN and perform sidehack's voltage mod (or pay sidehack to mod it for you), it allows you to run the fans nice and slow so it is quiet. Before I switched mine off (well, the PSU stopped working, and it was losing money anyway due to power costs) it was quiet enough to have ~4 feet away from my desk in a small home office where I would make/take calls, watch TV, and carry on conversations in a normal tone of voice.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: August 07, 2018, 02:04:16 AM
BCU-1525 delayed. I am wondering what would happen to Acorn release schedule

The BCU was delayed by Xilinx who makes both the FPGAs and the board that is the BCU1525. Xilinx is delayed due to unavailability of other components used to make the BCU, not the actual FPGA itself. SQRL is facilitating the BCU orders, if I understand correctly, not making the boards.

Any project could be delayed if they needed the same components that Xilinx is waiting for, Acorn included.

Supply chain stuff is complicated, and most companies try to have multiple suppliers for most components to prevent this from happening. Sometimes there is only one supplier for a critical component, and that supplier has a problem, well, you are SOL. It's also not usually easy to get a new supplier online in a short period of time, especially if high volumes of components are needed. Not to mention those suppliers also have existing customers with contracts...
