21  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9i - No Green Light on: May 21, 2024, 11:21:37 PM
Hi it is all sorted.

Entered my pool and now mining.

Weird most youtube videos show the green LED status on power up

Thanks for help

Cheers

Kenny

The kernel logs should tell you already what caused your issue as you can see at the end of your logs it's pointing to the pool you were using.
If you pasted a pool with extra spaces it will also cause this issue you can also notice no hardware version or bmminer on the dashboard if you set the pool wrong so next time make sure to test 3 different pools.
22  Other / Off-topic / Re: Always consider security features of any device you're getting on: May 20, 2024, 10:57:46 PM
I don't trust any Chinese phones like Xiaomi I have this device and it is vulnerable to any attacks and sometimes since it doesn't support Play Store you will be forced to disable some security features just to install a Play Store which is bad for security.

Based on my experience it is also vulnerable to malware For example after you connect to the internet there are ads popups automatically which is obviously malware forcing your device every time you connect to the internet ads will pop up.

Even other Chinese phones or clone phones are vulnerable to any attack even if they have a monthly security update it's not always safe to use. I am more comfortable with the Samsung S series like s9+ and the advantage is it has a hidden folder and you can also able to hide apps but for me, it is still not good for the long term if we want to hold something for the long term we need to focus on having a cold storage device.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Open Source Hardware Wallet for XMR? on: May 20, 2024, 10:35:51 PM
I've read that Trezor had some flaws/vulnerabilities regarding the mechanism used to secure the seed (using a passphrase). Not sure if that's been addressed already, though. I'd try out the Passport wallet with the Monero-supported firmware. The device looks nice, although it has a hefty price tag. If there was any cheaper alternatives, it would've been better. Smiley

It's an old issue and I think it was solved before but if you were afraid of vulnerabilities then go with a passport the only problem is it's a bit expensive compared to Trezor.

Why not if you have an extra device that you don't usually use online make a cold storage Monero wallet and watch-only wallet for online devices?
I have never done this except on a BTC wallet but I heard you can also do that in Monero check this link below for how offline transaction works the advantage here you don't need to buy a new hardware wallet.

24  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greed can cause a lost bet, (true or false) on: May 19, 2024, 11:54:13 PM
Sometimes people also forgets Greed is one of the most exploited feelings by casinos. It is something I have seen also happening in real life and in small casinos in small towns. Whenever the gambler starts to gamble and they consider to withdraw and not to continue, the operator actually encourages them to keep on gambling because it is "their day of good luck" and they better "take advantage of it". It is actually about waking up the greed of the gamblers so they can continue until losing it all to the house again. Any operator with a minimum knowledge on how mathematics and the laws of chances work in their business is aware that the more the gamblers wager their money, they (as operators) are more likely to profit from the volume of wager.

I have the personal theory than if people did not experiment as much greed as they usually do when they start to win money from casinos and bookies, it would be easier for the average gambler to profit. Anyways, we all know that is not going to happen...

Greed does not only happen in casinos it also happens in trading, investment, or any business this emotion will make you lose your capital instead of making a profit. I learned something about gambling if you already made I think just 30% of your total capital you should stop and gamble next time and then when you lose 10% of the capital you should also stop meaning you are not lucky today you need to gamble again on the next day until you feel no loses and have winning streak don't go all in just be consistent if get one lose then stop gamble again on the next day. You just need to make sure the algorithm always changes so that it won't lose all of your money and has a higher chance of winnings and profit than losing or negative profit.
25  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is it possible to create a blockchain with an escrow mechanism? on: May 19, 2024, 11:06:23 PM
If this is all about the escrow mechanism I think Bitcoin's blockchain already has a similar function Miners and nodes should act as escrow they are the ones who confirm and validate transactions if the transaction didn't follow the consensus rules then it would likely be rejected.

Unless you talking about different functions? You should explain more because Bitcoin already has this function.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wich altcoin has that similar to btc ? on: May 19, 2024, 10:58:54 PM
POS coins have different concepts so it would be hard to find any POS with Bitcoin similarities but if you are looking for known POS coins then check Ethereum and Solana.

If you are not satisfied with these two and you still looking for more check other POS coins under this link below.

27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's your experience using web3 wallets? on: May 19, 2024, 10:44:13 PM
I don't see any difference in using a web3 wallet compared to any wallet like BTC.
If it's a web3 then it is only for web3 dApp and tokens that support multiple networks.

Just don't use a web3 wallet from exchanges even if they provide you with a backup key for me it's not safe. Another thing is exchanges offer cloud backup which is not safe.
So if you want a safe wallet only use a wallet that you have full control like Metamask wallet or use a hardware wallet like Trezor it is much more secure than the wallet from exchanges.
28  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is this my secret phrase or seed. on: May 19, 2024, 10:25:37 PM
crypto_keys-repl.man

I never heard of any backup BTC keys that contain or generate a backup key with this extension.

Why not, open it with Notepad++ if it shows 12, 15, 18, 21, or 24 words like the above said then there is a high chance its a seed backup but you need check if all words are in bip39 word list but if not then it's not a back key you just found a random file.
If you have any of these files below then that's your BTC wallet.

Code:
.wallet
wallet.dat
mbhd.wallet.aes
.vault
address.db
wallet.aes.json
29  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is bitcoin mining just completely not profitable for retail? on: May 19, 2024, 10:00:16 PM
It more profitable to just buy bitcoin whenever the prices go down instead of buying ASICs to mine bitcoin. As you have correctly pointed out, the chance of getting the money back of what you put in to get the farm set up and the breaking even point are going to be far off. Till then you would have to sustain the costs and hope that additional costs don't come up.
No, mining is different from buying BTC and profitability depends on their electricity rate if you don't have a cheap power rate and don't have technical skills then stop planning on mining because it won't be worth mining in the long term.

If you just buy BTC and hold at the current price it doesn't generate a profit what if the price keeps declinin it stays at the current price for almost a year or 2?
30  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Autotrading system on: May 19, 2024, 03:49:16 PM
I always advice anyone using Automated Trading software or bot should buy the one that aligns with our strategy, also even when making for ourselves. It works one time and fail the other time, just be aware of scammers who sell those shots, just have the right knowledge and skill set you win in the world of Trading, and not buying, believing and wasting money on softwares.

No, I tested it myself automated trading or bots are risky like I said there's no guaranteed profit in automated trading the market is always changing. You make a profit fast but since greed is one of human nature instead of you already made a profit you will lose them in the end because of greediness which is not good even if it is automated.
Copy trading is way better because they can control their emotions greed and fear and manage the risk. Just make sure you are following the best trader on the current market condition.
31  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Autotrading system on: May 18, 2024, 04:02:00 PM
Be careful about using automated trading or bots that are too risky and even if it's automated there's no guaranteed profit on using them I tried those bots at first yes it made me profit but since it's still running my profit turned negative so at the end I earn negative profit.

Automating your trading might be worth it in a high time frame because you can react right away and stop the bot if you see profit is dropping or stop the bot if you already made a profit.

And take note that even if it is automated you still need to monitor them if you don't want to lose the opportunity in making a profit or to avoid a huge loss.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: exchange monero for fiat on: May 18, 2024, 12:00:20 AM
Monero seems removed from major exchanges but there are still exchanges where you can exchange this into fiat but I never tested them.

Check the list of exchanges from this link below and click the market

Another option you can use nonkyc exchange you check them from the following link

The last option use Exch under my signature and exchange monero for a stable coin like USDT and send it any exchange you want since USDT is supported by most all exchanges you have many options where you can exchange this and then into fiat same goes to XMR to BTC.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Open Source Hardware Wallet for XMR? on: May 17, 2024, 07:05:11 PM
How about Trezor? It seems it supports Monero have you checked both model T and safe3?

Check this link https://trezor.io/learn/a/monero-xmr-on-trezor-model-t-and-trezor-safe-3

I also found Passport it seems they have a separate firmware only for Monero support check the firmware from this link below

34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Retik Finance on: May 17, 2024, 06:47:13 PM
I never heard of this but I searched a bit and most people say it is a scam same as RenQ Trustpilot also gives negative feedback about Retik Finance so I don't think it's a good idea to connect your wallet to them unless you are willing to risk your wallet like you said it's empty so there's nothing to lose.

I also see some posts on Reddit every time they ask for a review about their project it always gets deleted immediately and for X someone got blocked asking for a review which I think is suspicious.
So for me, better to wait for major exchanges to announce their project because right now retik is pretty suspicious and can't be trusted.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any decentralized cell-phone services for us bitcoiners? on: May 17, 2024, 05:53:58 PM
What do you mean exactly a decentralized cellphone provider?
You mean is that a shop that sells cellphone units that accept BTCs?

If I'm right I never heard any why not just buy from a known shop that accepts BTC like Newegg you can buy a cellphone from them and pay for it with BTC.
36  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is the OTP on login time ? on: May 17, 2024, 04:57:21 PM
That's a 2FA new feature just added last December you can ignore it if you didn't set or enable 2FA from your account.

Read the announcement about this new feature below.

If you want to set 2fa enable then you can find it under your profile>account related settings you should be able to see the code or QR code that you can add in your authenticator app.
37  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to become a successful trader on: May 16, 2024, 11:57:44 PM
Trading is not just a game of emotions but most likely a mental game. So if you don’t have the skills and good strategies to win your trades, your faith will not work out. You have to work on your faith as well as enhance your trading psychology and technicalities in trading, otherwise you will easily fall more as a gambler than a successful trader. Don’t just trade to earn, but trade responsibly and appropriately.
Be a consistent trader is a must but risking money with lack of skills you shouldn't dive into live trading I've been there and lost a huge amount of my holdings trying my luck in trading until just I discovered that any coins out there are dominated by BTC. That is why I always recommend newbie traders to keep practicing on paper money or demo accounts to build confidence and to learn how crypto works.
Lack of knowledge in trading its totally gamble the thing that always works to me think as a newbie trader and think where they place their SL and that should be your entry point.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Found corrupted wallet.dat??? on: May 16, 2024, 11:35:33 PM
... are basically everyone on this forum very narrow-minded or do y'all just have some type of really really bad trust issues? It really does fascinate me ngl. Maybe it's cuz I'm still young, but wow... the level of distrust and quick to say something is a scam or misinformation is crazy and beyond words lol
Well, that's always what scammers do here on the forum they post storytelling and put screenshots with tons of BTC if you are interested they gonna PM you and sell the wallet.dat.

If you're not the same as them then focus on your plan I guess you want to try to recover this wallet?
For me, if you found this free and open for everyone I'm sure it's a waste of time but if you still insist you can try pywallet to recover corrupted files check the link below.

39  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to become a successful trader on: May 16, 2024, 11:01:36 PM
It's not just trusting the process when trading but also needs psychology and good strategy because if you do it wrong even if you trust the process you will never make any profit.
It is a part of fear and greed if you can't control this emotion it could affect your trading style.
40  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cryptech, has anyone purchased hardware from them? on: May 16, 2024, 10:47:33 PM
I can't find the site here and in Google, the only result that pointed me to Cryptech is this account profile Cryptech but this one had negative feedback.

Why not post the link here so that we can check if they are legit or not.
