441  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Thoughts on Passkey wallets? on: June 08, 2024, 07:52:28 PM
The passkey can be confusing if some people are thinking that it is hardware but it is not. The passkey will let you have access to the wallet or the exchange using your face ID or the fingerprint that you set on your device which is totally a bad idea.

Passkeys are any biometrics, SMS, or email but there is an option to use a USB security key with FIDO2 protocol as your passkey or authenticator it is a hardware device like on OKX it is just optional if you have this USB security key you can use it as your hardware key. It's still not a good option if someone poses about this USB device because it is a direct authenticator once you log in to OKX but can be also used as a backup once you can't log in to your account with your password. That is why you need to securely hide this device in a protected place and no one should know that you have a USB security key.

Read about the Passkey on OKX USB security key is a hardware(as optional passkey)

442  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum... on: June 08, 2024, 07:31:14 PM

Yes, you are right, that is what i wondered, how to Get the master seed from the electrum seed phrase, and i managed to do it in the electrum Console, thanks!

My goal was to use this master seed to derive private keys for other coins, so that i could use this electrum phrase to Secure my altcoins

As I said, there is no such thing as a master seed phrase the command we use is for the master private key, and yes it contains private keys derived from a seed phrase but I don't still get it why you need the master private key if you can generate a key pairs from the seed phrase?

For me, if this is all about securing your altcoins then the only solution to secure your altcoin wallet is to make a cold storage wallet, not the dumping master private key.
443  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: My BtC was stolen on Blockchain.com on: June 08, 2024, 06:33:10 PM
Why would you hold BTC on an online wallet like blockchain.com? Since it's online hackers have so many chances to try to hack your account and steal your funds.

I'm sorry for your loss since Bitcoin transactions are reversible you can't do anything.

I hope next time don't use online or web wallets like blockchain.com I heard many users hacked using web wallets like blockchain.com next time use a better wallet like Electrum or hardware wallet.
444  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum... on: June 08, 2024, 05:33:07 PM
If you convert your BIP39 phrase to a master seed, you can easily generate other blockchain addresses like LTC etc etc etc, but can you do the same for a electrum generated seed phrase?

I don't get what you are pointing to about master seed because there is no such a master seed if you generated it from Electrum it is a unique seed phrase that can be only verify through Electrum unlike BIP39.

What you can only get from seed phrases are key pairs of public keys and private keys derived from the seed and also Electrum seed or BIP39 seed has a master public and private key maybe this is the one you looking for?

If I'm right you can find the master public key under wallet> information on Electrum and if its master private key you can get it through command on the console and it is not safe to dump it while online but if you still insist you can go to console on Electrum and use this command below.

Code:
getmasterprivate()
445  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Cloud Mining Questions on: June 07, 2024, 10:28:15 PM
Like others said it's a scam for most of them but there are a few legit that offer a service to rent units or hashrate samples in Nicehash/miningrigrentals/Binance cloud mining they are the only ones legit for now.

The reason why they sell their hash rate is that they can sell their hash rate at a higher price compared to mining directly to the pool but if you are a customer and you think deeply why not just buy BTC instead of renting it or buy a unit and mine with your own its obvious scam if you think it deeply.
446  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could 72K USD be the peak for this bull run? on: June 07, 2024, 10:08:59 PM
No one knows if it was the peak price it actually failed to break the $71k level or above $72k and as you can see there is a huge liquidation above $72k and we always know that the market wants to sweep them before it drops.

And it's too early to see the new ATH I expect to see above $73k in September or December and the current BTC price action is following the symmetrical triangle flag it has already touched on the resistant level on that flag so there is a big probability that we will see bearish week because the retest at that resistance level seems already done or maybe it is just a retracement and soon it will retest again at that level if it break the $72k we should see $73k this week then huge drop again. That's just my prediction according to the daily time frame patterns.
447  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Thoughts on Passkey wallets? on: June 07, 2024, 08:42:20 PM
Okx and Binance seem they added this passkey it said that it would be easier to access without a password if I use Passkey but I am ok with 2FA through SMS and email I feel it is way safer.
I don't feel safe having a passkey it might be worth it if you have a hardware device like Fido but still not good for the long term because we do not know how long this device will work lasts.

For me, I'm ok with only 2FA or the easier one is to access Binance or OKX on the web browser through your phone by scanning a QR code.
448  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: AVALON 1446 HASHBOARD HELP on: June 07, 2024, 07:08:39 PM
I don't think there is custom or modded firmware for avalon units and I never heard of any release a firmware that could run only 2 hashboards the only available firmware you can download is from Canaan.

You don't have any other choice but to buy a new hashboard if one of the hashboard is dead or look for a repair center that knows how to repair ASIC units.
Check the site below for a list of repair centers and maybe one of the centers listed there is near your location.

449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: a true defi based crypto payment gateway on: June 07, 2024, 06:44:28 PM
I never heard that there is a DeFi-based cryptocurrency payment gateway why not tell us the any of defi project that you know have this feature?

For me, I don't we need this as we already have a crypto payment gateway that is open-source, free, and decentralized so why would I need to use their defi project if sample using BTCpayserver as a payment gateway it is decentralized and all of the invoices are generated from your own wallet that you fully control and it does not have 3rd party unlike you said defi based payment gateway I think it still needs to bridge meaning it will still use a middleman or a 3rd party unlike when you use BTCpayserver.
450  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin core full node download blockchain slow on: June 07, 2024, 04:49:17 PM
Memory 8gb

Config:
dbcache=16384

It seems that you set the dbcache more than your current RAM memory size since you have 8GB of memory you shouldn't set it to more than 4096MB.

I suggest try to change it to 4096 but before you do that make sure to stop the syncing process first if you are using a GUI just exit the GUI, and it will shut down automatically if not you can use "bitcoin-cli stop" to avoid corruption reboot your PC and rerun everything then monitor it again if the syncing process still slow or not.
451  Other / Off-topic / Re: Genuine Beginner Question: Other ways to earn quick money? on: June 06, 2024, 05:35:17 PM
I agree for most posts above that there is no quick money earning unless you already have a skill that you can offer.

Since you mention gambling casinos it's risky if you are the one who will bet. You can earn from the casino by promoting their referral links I think you can earn a few percentage of every bet they made win or lose. I think that is quick money if you have a friend who looking for a gambling casino online.

Another option is if you have knowledge about trading and have capital that you are willing to risk then I think trading in futures is a good option because you can make a profit right away if you analyze the right way but this is risky if you don't have knowledge about trading better find other ways to earn quick money.

I think if you don't have an account yet from some exchanges like Bybit, Binance and OKX they do have some tasks with rewards like depositing $100 and you'll receive $10 that is quick money or just verify your identity once you are KYC verified you will also reward you of around $1 to $20 but it's just a one-time or when there's an event.
452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet loading failed. on: June 06, 2024, 12:03:46 AM
This error always comes up when you are trying to import a wallet with old pruned data meaning it can't find any transactions from the current blockchain data.

This is my own solution that works to me but I do not know if it will work for you.

Try to disable the pruning mode first and close the Bitcoin core> Go to the blockchain data folder and delete all data and then open Bitcoin core again and enable prune mode again and let it sync.

Update here if it didn't work.
453  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC Liquidate price 71.3 K on: June 05, 2024, 11:20:12 PM
I forgot the name of this service but there was a website which would estimate liquidation levels. The way it worked I think it kept track of volume at certain prices and then assumed people with a certain leverage would have their liquidations on a certain level.

Did this method work? Actually no. It was never consistent. Sometimes it detected the pivot at the right level but many times price just went straight thru these levels and if you checked the liquidation statistics, there would be barely any liquidation volume there.

I think the method works better when looking to LONG instead of SHORT. There are more LONGs in a bull market than shorts, hence you should look at those levels instead.

I have a few tools that I use for free to see those liquidation levels check these two below

- https://aggr.trade/aljo

In aggr.trade you need to add the liquidation map indicator and you should be able to see the current short and long-position liquidation it is free.

Well, longs is always a better position than short since before even on the forex longs always win over short sides because everything is getting more expensive like stocks and even the US dollar is expensive compared before.
454  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mars Lander not hashing on: June 05, 2024, 11:04:18 PM
It's not a well-known one like Moonlander it's a pretty old USB stick miner but Compac F is way better than this
Anyway, can you access the unit through SSH?

You can maybe get some info status of the unit by accessing it through SSH there's an old post about Mars Lander from this link below and maybe you can get some idea.

455  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Adding a seed phrase to your wallet on Electrum? on: June 05, 2024, 10:47:13 PM
Thank you.

Yes, i created my own Private, public key and seed phrase on my own with my own script.

But the option of just importing the seed phrase and Electrum makes it bech32 works for me.

I know Electrum is open-source but you would rely on the community to find something fishy in the code, you yourself won't go on each update and read the whole code of Electrum. That's why i wanted to create my own private key. Also, when using Electrum wallet to create your key, you are trusting their Entropy, which it can be VERY secure and everything. But i feel safer trusting my own entropy.

You seems confused about the private key and the seedphrase?

Seedphrase contains unique private keys(Many private keys that can only derived from your seed phrase) and you can't just import the private key into your Seedphrase.
The private key is just a single key and the seed phrase contains many keys.

If you want to add this private key you just generated outside of your current Electrum wallet I think you will need to extract the private keys from your seed phrase and then import them into a new wallet including the private keys that you generated outside Electrum.

But that's not the best way to protect your wallet if you want a secure way never import the private key into an online device I suggest import it into cold storage Electrum wallet and only import the public key to an online device with Electrum.

456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sorry Help on: June 05, 2024, 10:18:22 PM
Pretty bad almost all exchanges always warn users to always double-check memo tags before sending without it you will never receive it in your wallet plus you don't have full control of your Bybit wallet.

If you want to recover it only Bybit support can able to help you with this case since they received it without a memo tag but most of exchanges always ignore this case and never credited if you send crypto to the wrong or missing memo tags.

Anyway, I tried to check if bybit can able to help you and I found one article posted by Bybit that I think will help you recover your funds check this link below.

This is a different link from the post above but this one is a self-service

457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core Wallet Processing blocks on disk... on: June 05, 2024, 09:57:42 PM
For as long as I have been using Bitcoin Core on PC, there has always the problem of the UI being unresponsive when syncing a large number of blocks. I don't know the cause, but it is poor software design. I don't know why it hasn't been fixed, but it has been a problem for a long time so I assume that it will never be fixed.

That's fixable by replacing your RAM and drive or configuring and reducing the dbcache to ensure the RAM won't hit the maximum usage. If you have slow RAM and drive this would cause unresponsive UI even the whole system is stuck because the Bitcoin core is eating many resources including CPU.
458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I Messed up with my Notcoin on: June 04, 2024, 10:50:04 PM
Like the above said Notcoin is too volatile because there are lots of people who receive it for free and I guess they sold theirs too because they are satisfied with the price but still there are many people are holding Notcoin look at the community they made its a huge community and I believe there are still many of them holding a large amount of Notcoin that they earn from tapping(Usually who use auto clickers). Once they hit the target they gonna dump it.

Honestly, since you didn't spend on that coin you still got it for free and made a profit. Me, I heard about this tapping game free airdrops but I ignored it because I believe it won't ever be listed on any exchange but I regret so you should be glad even if it is a small amount you still made a profit by just tapping.
459  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: encrypting seed phrase with a password on: June 04, 2024, 10:18:39 PM
I agree with the above posts having multiple encryptions will make you confuse in the future when you are trying to recover your wallet that's not a good idea and another thing is you just randomly using an encryption tool from GitHub that we do not know if it would still be available in the future or not.

The added passphrase for BIP39 should be enough since in case you mess up or if you forgot a few characters in your passphrase there are some tools that can recover missing or wrong characters.
And for me, you don't need them since you already generated it from an offline device just make sure that you never connect that device or the USB drive into an online device.
Unless you want to do it because you don't want someone, family, friends or anyone living in the same house to see your backup wallet.
If I'm right and you think encrypting your text backup is the solution you know that can protect against them then I suggest try PGP encryption that is way more secure than choosing a random software from github.

460  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S19k pro firmware 2024-02-21 upgrade stopped mining on: June 04, 2024, 09:33:07 PM
i'm having the same issue, but I think its not firmware issue it was electricity that was unbalanced during sometimes for me it was around 1PM, if you think there's another solution please tell

What is the unit's current status?
OP's problem seems solved by just taking out the miner from the noise box which means the reason behind his issue is the overheating issue this is a common issue when you put your miner into any box for noise reduction.

Do you have a similar issue? And you already tried to take the unit out of the box to test? or run the unit far from the wall? I mean the hot air out that came from the unit should not bouncing back to the unit it would cause some issues like overheating.

If not, better give more info about your issue by posting the logs here or make a new thread.
