Still vulnerable.

We are investigating this issue and have temporarily disabled login for existing users, the registration of new accounts and virtual currency withdrawals. These measures are "just in case" temporary measures while we wait for our DDoS mitigation service provider to fix this issue. Our backend was already patched.

No plans for that atm.

Might this be driving the market atm?:

Are the potential sellers who will want to lock in their 300% profit getting priced in?

who are the owners ? is this the Winklevoss twins Trust ?

No, this is the Secondmarket fund.

I just got an email from "info@bitstamp.net" saying that trading will be suspended for 24 hours. It reads:

Quote
"Hello everyone! and apologize for the delays and lack of communication are currently working on some design improvements / server. During the week we will update this page with the status of the project, given the final stage where we are.

Steps for Tuesday March 4, 2014:

Please check if your balance in this file is correct (Same your wallet balance) .. And replay asap if you see any problem."

And then there's a PDF file attached.. which I will not open. I don't believe this email to be legit.. it has several spelling mistakes and why would Bitstamp ever need me to confirm my balance. Seems very fishy.

It's not legit, do not open the attachment, it's a phishing attempt.

Dear Bitstamp clients,

On November 22nd and 23rd, 2013 an on site due diligence was carried out in respect of Bitstamp Ltd. on behalf of a 3rd party.

Bitstamp’s balance of BTC was validated by temporarily creating the largest single Bitcoin wallet and in the process the largest Bitcoin transaction in history.

The report identified that Bitstamp held 100% of validated BTC balance and USD funds. No material issues were raised as a consequence of the 3rd party’s investigations.

Original statement

Best regards,
Bitstamp team

Can anyone explain that trade that came out of the api at $633  over 3000btc below the bids?

This was a single event glitch that happened during an update being rolled out to our live trading engine. The update is now deployed and the trade engine is functioning normally.

Are you going to reimburse the seller who sold well below what would have been market price (plus some slippage maybe)?

Yes.

What about account verification? I provided all details already and am tiring of the wait.

Since the MtGox closure we have seen a slight increase in the amount of new verification requests which has consequently also increased our queue. We apologize for any delays and we kindly ask for your patience.

Anyone from bitstamp to comment on this? It has been 6 days
What kind of SEPA transfer? Withdrawal, deposit? How much? Are you verified? do you have 2FA?

It a SEPA withdraw, nothing serious 200 USD, I have been verified for months now, answered KYC 2 months ago, and I do have 2FA. I just wanted to test the withdrawal time, but seems there is a problem with them. A month ago everything was going smoothly, transactions never got "in process" for this long, it was max 2 bussines days. And it's 5 now, and no one from support is answering. For me, it is kind of an alarm, since we all know how it was with gox

We always aim to process all withdrawal requests as fast as possible to the best of our abilities - for most customers this means on the same or on the next business day.

If any of our users notice an unusually long time before getting their withdrawal request processed without receiving any communication from us, please contact our support by submitting a support ticket and we will make sure to look into your case and resolve it accordingly.

Also please remain patient and refrain from bumping the ticket with additional messages until you have received a reply as this bumps it to the bottom of our queue and may thereby further delay our response.

Statement by Bitstamp regarding Mt Gox insolvency

Bitcoin Is Still Working and Still Has a Bright Future

The worldwide peer-to-peer payment system and crypto-currency known as Bitcoin is not dependant on any one actor. The Bitcoin protocol continues to work exactly as designed. Bitcoin remains strong despite the failure of any one exchange and will continue to grow and thrive as long people desire that it do so.

Losses Limited to Balances at MtGox

It is important to underscore that the losses of fiat currency and Bitcoin are limited to those balances that were in MtGox’s care. The MtGox exchange can best explain how this happened.

Bitstamp Customers are Safe and Our Business is Solvent

We at Bitstamp have conducted a thorough audit of our bitcoin accounts, as well as the fiat currency reserves we maintain in the bank. Bitstamp maintains all of its customers’ bitcoin and cash deposits and nothing is amiss.

Bitstamp is Not Subject to the Transaction Malleability Vulnerability

Bitstamp uses a different protocol to handle problems in closing out its transactions and is not vulnerable to the “transactional malleability” issue that was apparently exploited at Mt. Gox. Additionally, we manually double-check every transactional problem encountered by our customers.

Bitstamp’s Future

We are taking steps to provide Bitstamp’s customers with the utmost confidence in our operations:

1. Bitstamp is financially stronger than ever. We have the most customers, and the most solid capital base, than we have ever had.
2. Bitstamp has retained the best available security and compliance advisors to assist us in protecting our clients.
3. Bitstamp prides itself on industry-leading compliance with its AML and KYC procedures.
4. Bitstamp is now performing quarterly financial audits and will post our financial reports on our web site.

Hazek, can you also comment around the SEPA withdrawals? What is going on, why are they not being processed atm? Why is support not responding?

There are no general withdrawal issues for any available method at this time. Support will respond for every individual case as soon as possible.

I was just greeted with a big red warning that told me my password is too old and that I had to change it.

This and other types of warnings are part of our goal to provide the highest possible security for our users' accounts. Users who have not changed their password in a while will be alerted to increase the security of their account by changing the password, also users who do not have two factor authentication enabled.

So this message is just something that will periodically pop up and does not mean that there is an issue with my account?

(I was not affected by the BTC withdrawal issues that some had)

Correct.

There are no general Bitcoin withdrawal issues presently. User's who are reporting that they are unable to withdraw Bitcoins will be notified individually via email.

They key to defeat hackers are secure hardware wallets, you'd imagine we'd have one by now. I'm still waiting on Trezor to ship and am hopeful it will be everything it needs to be - we'll see. Any updates slush?

What's up with BTC withdrawals? My withdrawal has been sitting at "Waiting to be processed" for well over an hour now. Don't recall it ever taking this long.

I've had to wait up to a few hours for withdrawals prior to the TM issue.

Apologies for the issue. It is now resolved and confirmation links should work again.
