As long as your "god" is reason and science and you don't worship any man I'm all for it.

In German if you say something spreads like a virus, that's meaning it's spreading very fast.
Wouldn't you say that's true in any language? But yea you are right about your comment.

The headline "Das Bitcoin-Virus" seems to be negative to me. Is "virus" a negative word in German? Does anybody know?
It's a play on words since clearly Bitcoin isn't a virus but it's adoption may spread similar to a virus. The article is not negative.

Coooool. Too bad I can't read it though It's a decent article. It starts out a bit wonky (don't know what else to call it) but it later on nails all the rights stuff about Bitcoin and it's future potential.

"To Andy Skelton and the entire WordPress team, thank you for being brave enough to stand up for your principles. The EFF is not brave enough. The Mises Institute is not brave enough. Wikipedia is not brave enough. But WordPress is, and we thank you sincerely." An excellent message to send, reading the blog now. EDIT: And an excellent blog to boot! I love how you hit the "WHYS" and ideals displayed in this event. I really think it's the best tune to sing while advocating Bitcoin and freedom.

There are people publicly announcing to send Bitcoins for anonymous cash deliveries.
Really? Where?

Exactly, the way I understand it the EFF has cancelled accepting bitcoin. Because they don't want to leave the impression they have a self interest in fighting for bitcoin, in the case they have to do so.
Then they should stop using the internet also. Fair point.

I think the EFF is a pretty sharp bunch, are watching from the sidelines intently, and will accept Bitcoin when they decide the moment is right.
I agree, and appreciate all that the EFF has done for our society in defense of freedom. In not accepting Bitcoin, they're just trying to protect themselves so that they can continue doing great things. I truly think they have their (and those of whom they protect) best interests at heart. However, I believe their fears are unfounded. On top of that, their actions have scared away others from accepting Bitcoin. If they had never accepted Bitcoin in the first place, and just said "maybe in the future" there wouldn't have been any problem, but the way they went about it almost certainly scared some potential big players away. Protect themselves from what? Wordpress.com is a commercial company, their accounting is under more scrutiny, and apparently it saw no problem in accepting bitcoin. EFF is a non-profit and yet it's afraid to to accept bitcoin? As I understood their argument they wanted to preserve the appearance of being unbaised if they'd ever need to defend Bitcoin legally which if they'd accept donations in bitcoins someone might try to slander them that they are just looking out for their own interest..

Yeah it sucks to be ignorant when you meet reality Although I don't believe most ignorant people have met reality yet.

You better not ever sing a song to yourself you heard on the radio without the authors permission so as to not violate anyone's rights... How about you just use one of those and if they try to force you not to, you stop?

As I promised, there's picture of the prototype for custom device. Small display, two buttons and micro USB is already here. However we're still waiting for samples from our distributor, which we need for building RPi shield and random number generator for this prototype. Man I can't wait to buy one of these. Any ideas about the price yet?

AH here we go

It's refreshing to have a big, prominent company coming out and supporting Bitcoin. It does a lot of good to have something to contrast with SR. Especially when WordPress.com goes sout of its way to point out the quasi-censorious nature of PayPal.
Haha, I loved that. I guess PayPal will be thrilled when they see that! I would not be surprised if their knee jerk reaction was: "Remove bitcoin from your site, or else we will freeze your PayPal accounts". I hope Wordpress are upstanding Guys and won't cave to PayPal or anyone else. Giving the nature of their business, I would think so. Or better yet, give them the middle finger and go Bitcoin only! Well one can dream, right?

Anyone else notice how the official announcement from Wordpress has subtly changed since it was originally posted?
I noticed the change from Cuba and Iraq to Ethiopia. I guess they didn't want to go all the way balls to the wall on the freedom issue..

I honestly don't care about richest company. It isn't like they are pumping the money into bitcoins anyway and after a little bump in the price of bitcoins, I doubt it will stay there. I want substance, that is a disappointment here.
I'll be nice and explain it to you just this once: The reason most of us are so excited about this is not necessarily because we hope to see a significant increase in the exchange rate or immediate general use but because a giant rich company like that actually announcing to the world that they think Bitcoin is a legit option is a huge nod of approval which will be heard loud and clear by everyone else on the sidelines indecisive perhaps about jumping in. In other words we are mostly excited for the PR effect this move will have that will eventually hopefully lead to more Bitcoin users and a higher exchange rate! I hope that was clear enough.

Is this service still working?
Seems to be not working. The site opened for me just now, although I don't have an account so I couldn't test if it's actually functional.
