21  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 23/24 European basketball discussion: Euroleague/BBL/ACB/LegaA/LNB/TBL.. on: May 18, 2024, 07:58:03 PM
It's all about money. They only want big famous cities with a lot of money in the league, just like FIFA. It's a ll just a corrupt business.  Undecided
That's true. Since when Istarted following basketball almost 20 years ago almost every year I hear talks that Euroleague wants team in London and Paris and now there is talks about Dubai.

Playoffs in full effect.
Already saw plenty of surprises in some of the bigger league until now.

Tonight I won't get a lot of sleep since there are so many games now, haha. But hey, in some weeks the season is over so it is what it is.
Enjoy the games guys!
What leagues you're following. From what I saw, I wouldn't say that there is many upsets. Probably Ulm loss at home against Wurzburg is worth to mention or Valencia losing to Murcia. Paris lost game 1 against Cholet, but now they got confident win and regained home advanage.

Congrats to @morvillz7z with a win and also everyone who finished in Top 5. Same like last year I finished 5th and I'm really happy about my result. Seems that it will be only pool this season where I will end in prize spots.
Bayer made The Invincibles season, achievement that will be difficultto repeat anytime soon. Even Bayern didn't made in years of their domination.
Thanks to @4cygan for running this pool and Sportsbet for sponsorship. See you next season, guys!
23  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 17, 2024, 07:39:28 PM
In reality, they spend 100m weaponry to destroy 10m worth Russian stuff, so that UK propaganda
has something to write about to hide fact that Ukraine is losing
If you can buy ir make several jets or S-400 system for $10 million, then you must be living in alternative reality. And it's not just all about price - Russia isn't capable to produce as many jets or air defense systems as they wish, after all it's not simple stuff like armoured vehicle.
And yeah, Ukraine is destrying these targets just to hide fact that they're losing, interesting logic.
24  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Portuguese League - Liga Portugal 2023/24 on: May 17, 2024, 07:25:07 PM
Looking at the current form, I would also say that Braga are favorites. But, if I look at the history of recent years, I see Braga losing every game against the big Portuguese clubs, especially the decisive ones. So, although I think Braga is better, I think the winner will be Porto. However, the statistics do not guarantee that it will always be the same, and so it will really be a very interesting game to watch.
Despite that this is going terrible for Porto, I think their chances is better. First of all because draw is enough for them, while Braga needs to win it. As you said, I also have impression that Braga usually chokes on big games.
Rio Ave - Benfica is starting soon, while rest of games will be played tomorrow to conclude 2023/24 season.
25  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: IIHF Worlds Championship 2024 on: May 16, 2024, 08:37:27 PM
Lol, they probably have read my post and beat team Latvia 8-1 Cheesy Team Germany game is very unstable this year. One day you lose with large score difference, next day you dominate your opponent with large score difference, when previous year these two teams ended with #2 and #3 places.
That was brutal one, Germany were favorites, but it was difficult to expect such result. As these both teams most likely going to compete for 4th place, now Germany gained big advantage. And in general, they have easier remaining schedule.
In A group today Austria made big upset by beating Finland 3:2, despite that Finland were already leading 2:0. Though, it looks that 4 teams that will go to next stage is almost decided in this group.
26  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 16, 2024, 06:52:54 PM
Croatia, 4 million people, managed to mobilize 250 000 (without any foreign help, and actually embargo on weapon buying) for final liberation offensive.

If Ukraine, 40m people country, cant mobilize at least 2 million after receiving hundreds of billions help

then obviously Ukrainians don't feel its worth it, for whatever reason
Mobilizing 2 millions in 40 millions people country looks nice and easy on paper, but reality is a bit different. From these 40 millions we should exclude women, children and elderly people. Then there is at least few millions people who left country during war and also people who alredy serving in army or died. So, actual number that you can potentially mobilize is so much smaller.
Why there issituations like in video above. In cities which are more far away from front line like Lviv, Kyiv, Odesa people are trying to live normal life. They are going no night clubs, pubs, cinema, concerts and etc. These who had motivation to defend country went fighting long time ago, others don't want to change their normal life, leave families and etc go to trenches, and drones and artillery flying above their heads. They want to continue living normally as they used before war, but they think that others have to fight for them. Don'y know what solutions for this problem is.
27  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 📝[Discussion topic] Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns📝 on: May 15, 2024, 07:47:42 PM
BestChange is an old campaign that has been popular on this forum, but here I am just a little curious instead of asking in the thread directly here, maybe it can be more relevant.

BestChange said that they will continue marketing to new areas, can you guess where? I mean which other forums will be targeted by BestChange, is it a local forum or other global forums such as forums about bitcoin and others?

Or the Altcoinstalks forum? I don't think this is possible. Lol
New areas, I guess it means something wider than forums. In general, forums is considered as thing from like 2010 and popularity of forums is constantly declining.
What other ares it could be? Social media like Youtube, Twitter or probably most trending social media now TikTok. Another option can be partnership with big sports club or league. If you're following sports, you can see so many crypto related ads there. But I'm not sure that BestChange budget is big enough for it, after all they're not trading or gambling website.
BTW, why do you think that promotion on Altcoinstalk isn't possible?
28  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 15, 2024, 07:35:13 PM
Other readers please know - when russians capture ukrainians, they torture them till they cooperate with captors, say on camera every unimaginable bullshit they are given to tell. This already happened in 1960s with POWs in Korea and Vietnam.

Last two years I lived more in Ukraine than in my home country. I know the truth.
Getting tortured isn't worst what could happen. There is plenty of videos on internet how Russians are killing Ukrainian POW's and troops who already surrender. And we can already guess how many cases there is which aren't uploaded to internet.
Though, on the other hand, sometimes it's fun to watch what Russian POW's are saying in front of camera. Now way that they would decide to tell it themselves. But war is war.

So this is Russian propaganda too? Sky news?

29  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: May 15, 2024, 07:19:14 PM
I think it was Imola last season where things were flooded and they couldn't race there, right? Not sure if I remember it right but that does feel like it could be the possibility. I mean it is clear that we are going to end up with a result that would not be all that easy to handle if the rain is that high again.

Plus, FIA and F1 has been quite strongly against racing during very bad weather, it is not like back in the day, because back in the day we could have seen racers even in terrible conditions, but these days we are talking about much better racing, and a lot more safety. Meaning, if the rain is a lot, we have seen stuff like Belgium, and it looks like Imola will have some rain, not sure how much but I hope it won't be a lot like last year.

I'm looking at weather forecast and rain is expected on Sunday only and now it's shown in morning hours, not afternoon. So, I guess there is no danger for race. But if we will have rain during race, there is high chance of red flags, Imola doesn't looks like safest track to race in wet conditions.
30  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Ambulance - Campaign - Ukraine on: May 14, 2024, 08:29:29 PM
I have donated some money to support your campaign. Just realized that recently I wasn't doing enough to support Ukraine. It's already 811th day of war and longer it continues, it's getting harder and harder to get support

TX ID b6d697eb7d84240fe801ecd50f7208130185049fe3861860164072e3934912fe

HonestLy, I didn't even think that such a vehicle with all the equipment could be cheap, but what is cheap nowadays, right? However, considering the size of the European Union, it seems to me that there is probably a certain amount of ambulances that could perhaps even be donated (which is probably happening).

Regarding the transport of vehicles, have you perhaps thought about sending them in another way, perhaps by transport train or transport trucks? Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that it would be cheaper.
Yeah, these things is happening, done both by governments and private initatives. For example, last week truck for firefighters from my city was sent to Ukraine
Regarding to transportation, almost all charities that I know drive cars to Ukraine themselves. If trucks or trains would be better option, probably they would use it, but they're not doing it. If they delivering humanitarian aid or something for troops, they're driving to final destination to be sure that everything will reach people who needs it (We all know level of corruption in Ukraine even in times of war).
31  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: May 14, 2024, 07:56:33 PM
I think this guy is not addicted to gambling but just took this plan to get these rewards. Though I do admit this guy move is crazy 199 BTC, he a beast and somehow I  admire his move but we all can agree his move paid him and won't be surprised if he continues to win other contest
I really doubt that this guy is doing it for prizes. Considering how much BTC in total he wagers, these prizes is more like tips for him - not something significant, but why not to take it.
Haven't checked their userID, but maybe this same guy already won Lambo too? Because usually this lottery is also won by one Freebitco.in whales.
32  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: IIHF Worlds Championship 2024 on: May 14, 2024, 07:36:29 PM
Latvia took their 1st win in regular time after beating Kazakhstan 2:0 and I made some money on this game. Evening games is boring, Canada is crushing Austria, France doing same against Poland.
Yesterday was much more fun, especially Slovakia win against USA in extra time or Switzerland win in OT against host Czech Republic. For hosts tournament isn't going perfectly.

Why nobody is discussing team Great Britain performance? Such a rare guest in ice hockey tournaments Cheesy People are used it team GB being weak, but they scored twice against Canada (but later lost to Finland 0-8). This is something they going to put in school books or show in highlights. In general, everyone plays their usual group stage games, only Germany stands out with one victory and one lost game so far. There were tougher last year.
Not sure what to say about Great Britain as they didn't made anything what stuck in my mind. Probably leading against Canada for 30 seconds was most significant thing they did Cheesy
It's already second time when they got promoted in recent years, but seems that they're going to lower division again.

EDIT, my post aged so badly, Austria made crazy comeback from 1:6 to 6:6 in 3rd period and we're going to extra time. Crazy!
But Canada scores already on their first attack on Overtime and wins 7:6.
33  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 23/24 European basketball discussion: Euroleague/BBL/ACB/LegaA/LNB/TBL.. on: May 13, 2024, 07:24:47 PM
Regular seasons in most of leagues is over and playoffs is starting. And if someone missed, Baskonia failed to reach ACB league playoffs for the first time in 30 years. It only shows how competetive ACB league is. But it won't stop them from playing in Euroleague next season as they have A license. This is what I hate about Euroleague that it's basically closed league. I wish that they would have similar system like in UEFA competition where clubs must perform well in national leagues to earn spot in international cups.
34  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Portuguese League - Liga Portugal 2023/24 on: May 13, 2024, 07:14:15 PM
Benfica managed to get a comfortable win against Arouca, a team that has been performing well in recent weeks.Benfica's 2nd place finish in the league is all but a formality for them now.Benfica managed to score 5 goals in total against Arouca, giving their fans a feast of football.
Porto, on the other hand, came from behind to win against Boavista. Both teams have different goals. For Porto it is to finish 3rd in the league and for Boavista it is to stay in the league.Although Boavista scored in the 60th minute, they lost the chance to get points from the match by being down to 10 men after 4 minutes. In the last 10 minutes, Porto increased the pressure and managed to win the match by scoring 2 goals.
That Boavista goal was against game logic completely. Porto dominated completely, but managed to score only on 81th minute and then scoring winning goal 98th minute. Boavista players were furious at referee that he didn't ended game as only 7 minutes were added.
Now it's clear that 3rd place will be decided in last round direct clash between Braga and Porto. Braga will play at home and they need to win, for Porto draw is enough.

I am voting for prize to be shared between us, this is fair and I dont have big motivation for making predictions in next few rounds.
This competition wont be total disaster for me because I am spending most of the time in La Liga Supebru on the bottom of leaderboard  Grin
Congrats LTU_btc if you win something Wink

Agree to share prize, better less than nothing Smiley. Offcourse, there is still few rounds remaining, there is still chance that someone will collect more points.
Before this round I was close from Top 5, but now after few bad predictions this weekend I got out of Top 10, so, very likely that I will end without anything.
Now watching Barca - Real Sociedad.

Huh  Huh

Am I missing something or why are you saying that they are close to securing Europa League qualification? I am not aware of any qualifier spots being added to the 4 spots they have.

2 Champions League group stage
1 Champions League qualifier
1 Europa League qualifier

How can you say that they are close? They are 5th, 9 points behind the 4th and there are two games to go. Unless there is some info that for some magical reason they can make it as 5th into the Europa League, I think a lowest level of fact checking can be asked for.

Flawless season played by PSV, but it felt like they have had zero competition.
Yes, you're really missing something. 4th place (AZ) will go straight to Europa league group stage, while 5th will go Europa league 2nd qualifying round. There is also one team which will go to Conference league qualification, it will be decided in playoff between 6-9th placed teams:
37  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: IIHF Worlds Championship 2024 on: May 12, 2024, 07:39:44 PM
Ffs, I am impressed by Poland game. You say they were in top division long time ago, but now they have returned and caused troubles to last years bronze medal winners. Either Latvia are slow starters these year, or Poland arrived prepared well to this tournament. Latvia should have bitten those rookies in main time with few goal advantage, but to be saved in overtime.
While Latvia so far impressed not from positive side. Same like against Poland, game against France they won just after overtime. These wasted points can cost them a lot later, I just remind that they barely got out of group stage last year.
About other games, we had no upsets so far, favorites having easy life against underdogs and winning games with big margins. Now there is fun game in play currently between neighbours Austria and Switzerland, Switzerland leading 3:4 in 2nd period.
38  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eurovision 2024 bets on: May 12, 2024, 06:22:19 PM
A guy, wearing tights and skirt, dressed in feather crap won. Imho this competition is not suitable to watch with kids anymore and it turned to be like this long time ago...
Yeah, we already seesuch things for maybe last 15 years, but I think that this year we had more than ever freaks. And probably not only kids saw Ireland's witch in their nightmares tonight. I don't mind guy wearing skirt, but when someone considers themselves as ''non-binary'', I just want say - World, please stop, I want to get off.

I think otherwise. The jury's votes are dramatically out of sync with the audience's preferences this year. For example, Switzerland would have only placed fifth according to the public vote.

I think it's high time to eliminate the jury voting at the Eurovision Song Contest. Many viewers feel frustrated that no matter how much public support their favorite acts get, the professional jury members override popular opinion to hand victories to less popular performers. Over the past few years especially, their bloc voting has catapulted somewhat questionable winners to the top spot over more crowd-pleasing hopefuls. With the experts accounting for 50% of each country's score, the public's role in picking the champion seems diminished. What's the purpose of letting fans vote in a contest where their preferences carry so little weight? If the EBU wants to retain public engagement they should reassess how much influence televoters versus judges have on the final outcome.

I agree about removing jury voting, almost every year we have contraversy with it. But my thought about not big difference between jury and public voting is that there was no cases where countries after jury voting where in the bottom and they were lifted up to top part by public. Only exception as I already said probably is Israel. While Switzerland, almost all juries voted for him, while 5th place from public is still high and not somewhere in the bottom. But yeah, just with public votes he wouldn't won it.
If there is no plans to remove jury, I think that their voting should have less weight, like 25% or something similar.
39  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eurovision 2024 bets on: May 12, 2024, 12:17:45 AM
I'm happy UK got 0 points from public because kids were watching man and that is not appropriate at all but I also dislike heavily the fact that Swiss won based on what ? the song is just another radio song that will be forgotten in about 1 week + he broke the code and also the trophy.
Yeah, not really happy with Switzerland win, didn't liked it at all and already forgot how it sounds. Interesting what result it would be if it would be performed by someone who doesn't considers themselves and non-binary gender and wearing dress. I guess somewhere in the middle.
It looks that both jury and people voted quite similar, what isn't very common. Only big exception is Israel, they didn't got much votes from jury, but got a lot from spectators.

Anyone here made any money from betting on the Eurovision song contest?

Post them please  Grin we could use a highlight before I have to lock this year's thread in a few days.
Personally I was very disappointed by the very narrow selection of bet options on Eurovision crypto sports books had so I didn't end up betting on anything but now that I think about it, shame on me for liking Switzerland's entry and not putting a single dollar towards it 😅
Nothing worth to share, just some low odds bets like Italy finishing 1st from Big 5  or Lithuania top from Baltic states.
Yeah, most of crypto sportsbook didn't had anything interesting to offer this year.

I don't know how to survive nuclear winter and I'm not really bothered about it. I prefer to enjoy every day of my life and don't think about worst case scenario. Because if it will happen I think that I don't have big chance to survive. I live in Europe and I have no idea where I would have to run in such case.
You're lucky if you're in New Zealand or Australia, it looks like safest place in case of nuclear winter. Maybe South America isn't worst location too.
