Hi Slush,
I am connecting from two different locations. While one is fine, I can't connect from the other - it says MSG: backend is not connected

Hi Slush, I'm getting a lot of warning about miner being idle and I think it only started happening after you restarted balancer. Is there a way to fix this or we'll just have to wait until ddos is over?

The more I read this thread the more absurd it gets
Work computer? 25k on computer used for browsing web? UNENCRYPTED wallet on multiple websites? Forensics can't do shit?
You must be either a troll or incredibly stupid. If it's the latter, and you obviously have no clue about online security, I suggest you still turn that computer off and hire someone reputable to take a look at it.

Sorry to hear about your loss. In all likelihood it wasn't a virus or malware - it's a bit too early for that and if it was we'd see way more stolen wallets. From what you've written, I'd say it's a targeted attack. Depending on amount stolen, you may want to hire IT forensics expert. If it was a script kiddie you have a good chance of catching him. If you consider to pursue this, I suggest you turn your computer off ASAP. Unfortunately, we gonna be seeing this more often as value of Bitcoin increases

There is a backlog of >1600 transactions. Be patient it will get there

People, we really need to fix this. It's becoming unbearable. I know we have record numbers on the forum, but I think we should be better prepared for such occurrences. If it's a matter of money, I and probably many on this forum would be willing to chip in for a new server/bandwidth/whatever Please, let's address this problem!

You were probably on the wrong side of network split and these transactions got discarded when it merged. To be sure don't send it again until your blockchain is up to date

I think Satoshi whoever he/they are, chose to keep significant amount of BTC to protect the economy against an attack. Such attack would consist of first buying huge amounts of BTCs making value skyrocket and then dumping it making value plummet. Someone with a lot of BTCs could smooth things out preventing panic

My guess is a needed correction. However... I'm not one for wild conspiracies, and this weekend could just be what an unregulated market looks like, but some part of me wonders if this was an operation. First trolls show up and claim the sky is falling at about the same time a few sells at weirdly low prices happen. The bottom falls out and we are in the $10 range. Then a tweet from LulzSec says buy now from the panicked "morons" and some step in and buy up coins at bargain prices. The trolls disappear and the price shoots back up.
Tinfoil hat or plausible?
I think you're quite right. Vladimir was posting about such things months ago. Someone is laughing at all this and how easy it was to take Bitcoins away from these kids. Now, that we've seen how easy it is to manipulate the market and scare them, it will be happening again and more often

First go to Settings->Options and check "Map port using UPnP". Restart the client and give it 10 mins. If number of connections and blocks doesn not increase close the client, click Start and type cmd then press enter. Once command prompt opens run cd c:\program files\bitcoin bitcoin.exe -addnode=69.164.218.197 -addnode=64.22.103.150 -addnode=173.242.112.53 -addnode=178.79.147.99 -addnode=184.106.111.41 -addnode=91.85.220.84 -addnode=173.224.125.222 -addnode=86.5.50.90

What Operating system are you using? Can you tell us how many connections and blocks do you see at the lower right corner of the client?
|
