Are you speaking for the whole community?

I'm pretty sure the Bitcoin (not meme or altcoin) community shares the view of not wanting spam on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Simply ignore it. The best it can do to you as a user is to be annoying in the fee market. Plus if there's something in the protocol that could be "exploited", then a good developer SHOULD "exploit" it, and experiment what it could do with it. Bitcoin is anti-fragile, and if someone discovers something which will make it NOT anti-fragile, then there's no reason for it to exist.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It will probably continue to exist, but it will be a scam.
22  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino companies' responsibilities to rehabilitation institutions on: June 10, 2024, 04:40:56 PM
corporate social responsibility (csr) is an activity carried out by companies on the social and environmental impacts caused by their company's operations, and in this case, casinos have the potential that their operations can cause many cases of addiction in society. there have been many cases of addiction caused by gambling and usually the families of these victims bear the costs of rehabilitating these addicts themselves. usually the family will pay for the various needs of these addicts, such as food, hospitalization, etc., and that is not a little because there are addicts who need months to recover.

my question is, do casinos need to be charged to carry out csr to rehabilitation centers so that these rehabilitation centers can provide discounts for cases related to gambling addiction? and what about online casinos, how should they carry out csr since they operate globally?

I believe no, because the government could tax the casinos and build the rehabilitation themselves. Although I could see good arguments coming from both sides of the debate. But for those debating that "yes", casinos should be charged - outside of taxes, then would you also agree that the fast food industry should also be charged for the disease and the sickness that comes from eating fast food?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
23  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BC.GAME Sending emails with the title, ''Withdrawal Notification'' on: June 10, 2024, 04:27:29 PM
Can other regular BC.Game players verify if you have been receiving the same emails as well? Because the title and the actual content of the email doesn't look like an email that a reputable service like BC.Game would do.

OP, don't click any links just to be sure you're not clicking any phishing scams, because sometimes SMTP servers could be compromised and be exploited too, no?

You could also go to your casino account settings and disable all emails.
24  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: June 10, 2024, 09:55:54 AM

Buying bitcoin with the money that was given to you on tour birthday is a wise decision but how will you hodli that bitcoin for long when you don't have a means of income.

Find a job. Or if you're a student over 18, a part-time job. But if you're a student below 18, wash your dad's car and give your mother a massage, then ask them for a higher allowance. Hahaha. Cool

Quote

If you are faced with a big challenge, you will not hesitate to sell your bitcoin to solve the problem and become a no coiner. Even investors that have a regular means of income do sell their bitcoin if they don't have an emergency funds. No bitcoin investment will grow without a source of income and an emergency funds.

You have bought bitcoin and you cannot continue investing to grow your bitcoin portfolio, and it is just stagnant, you might not have any profit for a long time especially if bitcoin price is below your entry point overtime. The aim of investing is to grow your bitcoin investment to a particular size that will be able to give your some profits over time, and also keeping the value of your funds from depreciating. The first thing to do if you want to invest in bitcoin is to get a means of income , from there you can take from your discretionary income to buy bitcoin regularly using DCA weekly or monthly consistently without stopping for 4-10 years.

Emergency funds is very important, and you can use the left over from your discretionary income to build your emergency funds up to 3-6 months, after which you can also build your reserve funds. All these put together with discipline will make you not sell your bitcoin before time.

👍

If a person is single and has ZERO responsibilities, take that limited opportunity and keep buying Bitcoin - the DIP or DCA - and HODL, then keep adding more.
25  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Thoughts on Passkey wallets? on: June 10, 2024, 09:39:27 AM
- You basically can create or restore your wallet using your PIN ~
- Passkeys are stored in your iCloud or Google drive

This sounds like a great way for attackers to gain access to your wallets, including inside jobs at the cloud provider.

Yeah, it's an attack vector, but probably a trade-off of a different security-model that's good enough to be accepted for small amounts of Bitcoin/cryptocurrencies. Perhaps a good rule of thumb to have in crypto is, if the UX is made to be more convenient to the user, then expect a higher number of attack vectors?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
26  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Thoughts on Passkey wallets? on: June 09, 2024, 03:48:19 PM

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this?

It's convenient especially if you are active/making multiple transactions a day from a particular wallet. But perhaps the storage using ICloud or any online service should be discouraged, no? I'm not actually sure how it works, but I don't feel safe storing any "key" in any cloud service. Store it locally in another device, and merely use small amounts of cryptocurrencies if you store them in that walle for a long time.
27  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy and HODL! on: June 09, 2024, 03:31:12 PM
HAPPY NEW BITCOIN ATH DAY!

lol! This would have been a potential April fool or rather some sort of dark joke but my inquisitive self had to go check up the current price before accepting that you're actually right 😂 and yeah, you're actually right, but if you think he's wrong go check it out at the time this comment was made and you will know that you're also right 😊
No, it has not surged to a new ATH yet, but it's going to be today, or perhaps tomorrow? Cool
yeah! You're still right.

Plus JayJuanGee, the topic has become yours with the wisdom that you have imparted with plebs and with people who want go learn more about investing like me. Buy the DIP, or DCA are both good as long as the individual HODLs. It's probably better if the topic's title is changed simply to "Buy and HODL!", no?
you know that when an average newbie visits the thread and starts off, the word DIP has alwsys been a problem most people have face as it seems to be suggesting that it's best to buy during the DIP and then holding to thier Bitcoin and the end result has always been that they attempt timing the Bitcoin price to look out for a possible DIP to buy at.

I guess with the change of the topic to just Buy and hold although a better version of this change would have been Buy Bitcoin and Hold since it appears that most newbies tend to mix-up buying Bitcoin and hold to almost meaning same as Buying crypto or altcoin and hold. The change is going to put more context to the discussion and help newbies that are learning about the best approach to use in making Bitcoin investments do it the right way and not also engage in this discussion out of context.

The market SIKE. Hahaha.

It always has a way of making a fool out of people, especially plebs like me. BUT if you find a DIP and you have disposable income, obviously there's one way to spend it = Buy Bitcoin, and HODL. I believe, currently, we should reach for it deep beneath ourselves and find the conviction to keep HODLing. Don't allow the market SIKE affect your mental sanity. That leads to something that you might regret like those people from 2012 - 2015 who sold their coins.
28  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bamk - A Stablecoin in Bitcoin on-chain through Runes protocol on: June 09, 2024, 05:50:38 AM
A bitcoin L1 stable or whatever they call it, synthetic...
Buying both BAMK and NUSD here. Thanks OP.

I'm not actually sure if you're trolling or not, or if you're actually a newbie or not, but the point of this topic is to talk about Bamk as a project that's trying to build a stablecoin protocol through Runes because I think it's a better use case for Runes than the mere shitcoinery that's currently done on-chain. I'm not here to tell you what shitcoin to buy with your Bitcoins.
29  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ Shuffle.com | The next generation of crypto casinos | Sports, Casino + token on: June 08, 2024, 08:28:45 PM
Btw when will $SHFL token will be available on other blockchain such as BSC to make it easier to accumulate due to cheaper fee.

We really need that. $SHFL should be available on at least one another alternative blockchain like BSC, Solana, Polygon.

Yes that would be more better better if people would have a lot of blockchain to use  as alternative. Specially if ETH network experiencing a network issues which can stop people to accumulate especially if they can't handle much the potential fees that need to pay when they decide to deposit and accumulate on exchange where it listed.

We know that there's lot of issues happening on ERC-20 network and lots of tokens are shifting into SOL which is currently famous network now or even BSC. If people would know that and they add this then maybe this would lead something great for SHFL and it could make the accumulation for people became more easier.

Actually only one biggest issue on ETH network that keeps persisting even before and that is high transaction fee especially from the DEX on this blockchain. DEX charge an insane fees in every trade since they knew that ETH trader has no choice than to pay in able to purchase early the crypto that has a potential to pump soon once listed on CEX.

Shuffle just need to partner with other liquidity providers on different blockchain or offer a appetizing APY to stakers in able to attract users that will provide liquidity on the pool.

Did you see the latest chart on the monthly wagered volume in Shuffle? Cool

That should also increase the volume of how much will be bought by the casino, then burned, no? I believe that's a more sustainable model because the "yield" came from actual revenues, with a percentage used for buy and burn. Offering higher yield in SHFL would merely dilute holders.
30  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bamk - A Stablecoin in Bitcoin on-chain through Runes protocol on: June 08, 2024, 03:17:59 PM

Does anyone still remember USDT on Bitcoin on-chain which use OmniLayer protocol? And aside from what @examplens said, stable coin also exist on Bitcoin sidechain (such as Liquid).

It's almost like everyone is just making stablecoins nowadays more than anything else. Why all the big interest in them anyway? Nobody would be creating stablecoins if they didn't make a lot of profit.

Because it has become a core fundamental for users to escape the volatility of cryptocurrencies, or give them the option to convert to something more stable during bearish market conditions.

But surely you know there are so many USD-based stable coin out there.

But if done through Runes, it doesn't make the user convert his/her Bitcoin to another coin to use another protocol, or go to a centralized exchange to deposit his/her Bitcoins there.

Quote

Stablecoins might be something that would give Runes actual utility instead of mere shitcoinery.

Even when they could just use either OmniLayer and Counterparty (both are protocol on Bitcoin L1) exist since many years ago?

Currently users could also buy a stablecoin through the Runes protocol if they find it useful for them.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
31  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ Shuffle.com | The next generation of crypto casinos | Sports, Casino + token on: June 07, 2024, 03:53:45 PM
Wagered volume on Shuffle chart is shared on X.

Since less than $250M in September 2023, wagered volume increased to $500M since March 2024 and still maintained the high volume above $500M in last three months. In March and April, the wagered volume figure is above $1B and only dropped back under $1B in May but it's not too far from $1B figure.

With potential of bull run in cryptocurrency next months, Shuffle.com platform has its potential to get more customers, more wagered volume and $1B will be a never look back figure soon. Many months, with rapid growth, we now can say wagered volume figures such as $50M or $100M a month are like never look back volume figures.

👀

Plus the NEXT YEAR. If Bitcoin has been going through the same four year cycle, and that it's highly probable that almost the whole cryptocurrency market follows Bitcoin, then we're probably in 2020 if we're in the last cycle. Is the market is merely preparing itself for the actual bull market?
32  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bamk - A Stablecoin in Bitcoin on-chain through Runes protocol on: June 07, 2024, 03:37:15 PM

We don't need stable garbage to further burden the network.

btw. Lighting Labs already successfully tested enabling stablecoins on the Bitcoin blockchain

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5497591.msg64117539#msg64117539

Are you speaking for the whole community?

Technically Bitcoin is permissionless, and what made the protocols/projects like the Lightning Network, Ordinals, and Runes very interesting is because they didn't need anyone's permission to start building. Plus if your concern is that there are those projects that might be "exploiting" Bitcoin and therefore might "break" Bitcoin, then if it breaks, as a decentralized system, it has no reason to exist because it's not anti-fragile. What would be the use of it being decentralized if it's fragile.

The vote is "Yes", but Bitcoin won't start surging by itself. I believe it needs the hand of Chad Saylor to push it above $75,000, causing the community to FOMO it to $85,000, no? Cool
35  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What type of a trader/investor is this? on: June 06, 2024, 04:21:01 PM
I would rather attribute it to him being too greedy because he had only $3k! If you see $80k and not grab it, what then are you looking for? What opportunity would you appreciate. Another cause of this could be that he never really had a plan. I mean... He never had a target amount he wanted to take out the money. If I were him, I'll likely take the money out way before $80k because half bread is quite better than none (he has nothing now).

Whether he had a plan or not, and the fact that he bought a memecoin with all of his money - the last of his savings - should be telling that he will lose everything sooner or later.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It was definitely better for a person like him to simply buy the Bitcoin DIP, and HODL everything in cold storage. His capital won't be in a fast surge to $80,000, but it won't be ZERO.

Yes, he used his last savings, but he got very lucky from taking that risk, going all the way from such an amount to $80k is crazy. And despite the luck, he still skipped the part of taking profit. Even taking profit that is the same amount as what you initially invested is the least you can do, so you know that you’re playing with money you’ve made as gains. And again, like you say, it’s a meme coin. He took the risk and he got lucky, no one is supposed to remind him that it’s a meme coin. You take profit once you see it. Everything that goes up comes down at some point.

There was no luck, good or bad, there was merely GAMBLING. Plus how could you say something like "he got very lucky" like it was with a presumption that his/her profit was already his/hers? Paper-profits are never yours unless you execute the action to either send the actual Bitcoins to your own wallet, or convert them to fiat and have them sent to your actual bank account.
36  Bitcoin / Project Development / Bamk - A Stablecoin in Bitcoin on-chain through Runes protocol on: June 06, 2024, 04:02:27 PM
Quote

Bamk.fi protocol is the issuer of the Nakamoto Dollar, NUSD, a synthetic dollar on Bitcoin L1.

- In phase 1, NUSD is backed 1:1 with USDe, and holding NUSD accrues BAMK every block
- In phase 2, NUSD will be fully-backed by a delta-neutral Bitcoin position earning a native yield, the 'Bitcoin bond'

NUSD is circulating on BRC20-5byte and the Runes protocol, with plans to issue on all viable protocols on Bitcoin L1.

https://bamkfi.gitbook.io/bamkfi-docs

I found this project, and decided to post it here for everyone to discuss - How it works, discuss the technical details, strengths, weaknesses, trade-offs, importance, news, and everything else that's needed to be known.

Stablecoins on-chain could be good for Bitcoiners who don't want to go through centralized exchanges/other blockchains to convert their Bitcoins to fiat or stablecoins during times when the market is bearish.

Plus stablecoins have become some sort of "primitive" that's needed in crypto. It's probably now something fundamental.
37  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can someone take gambling as a source of income to he/she life? on: June 06, 2024, 08:43:10 AM

I was gambling today online since their is strike no work, so decided to take all my day to place a bet and this thought comes to my mind. That is it how the jobless men do gamble all day with the little money they've, because this is insane to me but to those people who gamble as the means of their income it's terrible. I rememberd a friend of mine back in the days in school all he does was to gamble all day not going to class, and the gambling favors him alot any time he comes to the hostels he do comes back with a big bag of foods. But that was back then his parents was sending him money, but right now with the economy situation in some countries someone will haven a little money meanwhile he/she have gone alot stress to get the money and he/she will tries to increase the money by gambling. Everyday he/she continues like this hmmm it's bad.

I said let me express my feelings towards this to forum gambling discussion, if their are people who are living in this kind of lifestyle. And what will be your opinion towards the people living in this kind of lifestyle everyday of their life's?

If there is someone out there making profits out of gambling then that is good for them, after all it is not easy at all to accomplish this task as they literally have everything against them, however it is because of this that I would not recommend such a lifestyle to anyone, as most of us are used to get our salary each month and we can plan accordingly, but a person that has become a professional gambler does not have that luxury, and they could spend months or even a year losing money before things change for the better.

I'm very confident that it's the same with trading. Everyone wants to gamble on their favorite shitcoins, and trade their way into making "millions of U.S. Dollars", buy a nice car, and get the girl of their dreams, BUT merely the top 10% of the smartest and most hard-working active day-traders actually make it. The rest of us are left and still are the plebs in they community. That's why the best path forward for us is to accept the the slower journey and simply buy Bitcoin, and HODL.

39  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Daily FUD Thread: Michael Saylor dumps his MSTR shares on: June 05, 2024, 03:48:21 PM
https://www.cnbc.com/2024/04/19/bitcoin-bull-michael-saylor-made-370-million-from-microstrategy-sales.html

So, apparently, Michael Saylor has unloaded 400k of his Microstrategy shares, which, at this point, are largely backed by BTC and could be used as a proxy for investing in Bitcoin.
What do you take of it? Was all his talk about accumulating Bitcoin forever and never selling just an act? Or was he genuine but just wanted to cash out with ~£370 millions for whatever reason?
Somehow I don't think he'll be buying bitcoins with his proceeds.

lol OP why would you care that he sold stock. He sold stock. Not bitcoin. Stock. Not bitcoin. Say it again lol. Him selling stock has nothing to do with him selling bitcoin. He could have sold bitcoin. But he didn't. He sold stock, not bitcoin. He has never said anything about not selling any of his stock. So what exactly are you complaining about? He has these two different assets, one he said he won't sell, and he didn't. The other one he sold.

Nobody cares what he is gonna use that money for. It's his money. And since he got it from selling stocks, not bitcoin, it has nothing whatsoever to do with his statements about not selling bitcoin. Whether he wants to use it to buy a yacht or buy bitcoin or buy nasdaq or buy an island or spend it all on hookers and blow, it's his money and he'll use it however he wants.

Because OP is concerned that because MicroStrategy stock is a "proxy" for Bitcoin, like the Bitcoin spot ETF, it's like Michael Saylor is selling Bitcoin itself. But what if he starts buying more Bitcoin with the profit from the stock sale, making it surge to $100,000?

🤔

That possibility would obviously add more potential value to MSTR, no?

Wasabi v2.0.8 "Hydra" is out! Release notes: https://github.com/WalletWasabi/WalletWasabi/releases/tag/v2.0.8

After so many years, Wasabi Wallet finally provide GUI method to choose/change WabiSabi coordinator. Although i briefly tried it and it require me to enter the coordinator link. So i wonder how many user bother search for WabiSabi coordinator run by someone else.

I believe if an individual truly needs to CoinJoin their outputs, what choice would he/she have? And as a community, users should teach and help each other/give others the information they need.

Plus in the Bitcoin community, we are using Open Source Software. It's part of its fundamental philosophy for its more senior members to be some sort of technical support, like the forums in the Linux community.
