21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What would you do to recover your losses? on: May 29, 2019, 06:12:06 PM
In trading sometimes we incur losses, and sometimes we'll end up with profit. It is just natural and we don't need to bother too much about it. In case we get huge losses, then it may be a good idea to take a short break, so that the concentration level and confidence gets a reboot. But thinking about the losses again and again may be counter-productive.
22  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will hit $1M on 2020 - John McAfee on: May 29, 2019, 05:48:21 PM
I have been a member of this forum ever since 2012. And during this duration, John McAfee had made such outrageous claims multiple times (if you check the old threads, then you'll be able to find some). And none of his past predictions ever got realized. I don't think that we should give any importance to this guy anymore. Why can't we just consider him as a nuisance element and ignore him?
23  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is very likely going to break $9000 in the next few days. on: May 29, 2019, 05:44:44 PM
I don't know why there is a separate thread about $9K. Because we are not witnessing any strong resistance at this level. To tell the truth, ever since the bull run started (almost 2 months back), we haven't faced any tough resistance till now. And the only time we had a dip (during this period) was when some of the short-term investors decided to do profit booking.
24  Economy / Economics / Re: More Countries Continue To Show Support For Blockchain Technology on: May 29, 2019, 05:41:42 PM
So they are OK with the Blockchain technology, but not so with the cryptocurrencies? I am not very excited about this. Either they should accept both of them (because both are intertwined), or they should ignore both of them. And here we have some of the governments harassing the Bitcoin users and at the same time using the Blockchain tech for their own benefits.
25  Economy / Economics / Re: Belarus has launched a regulated bitcoin exchange on: May 29, 2019, 05:38:40 PM
Well.. I would say this is good news. The former USSR is one of the strongholds of cryptocurrency (or it used to be so until a few years back). But unfortunately the governments of Russia and Ukraine took a very hostile stance towards crypto from the very beginning. In the end a lot of the businesses were forced to move out. What Belarus is trying to do is very appreciable.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook plans to launch 'GlobalCoin' currency in 2020 on: May 29, 2019, 05:33:48 PM
It is too early to debate about the amount of coins in the pre-mine and ICO prices, but I have a feeling that the pre-mine amount will be really large. And they'll almost certainly don't go for the PoW mining, giving the excuse that it is not environmentally friendly. In the end, it will become just another fiat payment system, like Paypal and Skrill.
27  Economy / Economics / Re: 2018 the year of correction? on: May 29, 2019, 05:30:11 PM
LOL.... 2018 will be known in the history of Bitcoin as the year in which the cryptocurrency got rid of the non-serious investors. A lot of people jumped into the world of cryptocurrency in 2017, probably attracted by the huge spike in the exchange rate and the mainstream media coverage. They wanted 10x or 20x returns in a few months time. When that didn't occurred, they just sold their coins and made exit.
28  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptopia exchange hacked on: May 28, 2019, 05:12:14 PM
Can someone quickly summarize what happened here?  Were most users affected by this?  What coins were taken?

So would this exchange be safe to use now?  I notice some coins i like... they have it and there is lot of volume in it.

I guess you are a few articles behind! Cryptopia is done, gone, *POOF*!
They tried to reopen but they were very slow in resuming the trading functions and they also rolled the loss % to their customers. I don't remember the exact loss %, but if for example they lost about 20% of their BTC, then they reduced the customers' BTC holdings by 20%.

With this way of operation, the users didn't trust them again and they sow their decline, so they decided to shutdown and liquefy their assets.
https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/

One small correction. The decision to close down the exchange was taken after another round of robbery, in which more than 1,500 ETH was stolen. It had nothing to do with the feedback from the users, or any third party. A few months back, the hackers had deleted the private keys, and the Cryptopia admins were unable to secure the coins until the last reported hack.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are ICOs dead? on: May 28, 2019, 05:03:04 PM
In the last time of ICO very disappoints, many are not able to collect a tenth of what they managed to achieve earlier in 2017. But still there are projects that are really worthy, but these are very few.I don't think the ICO will die completely, there will be an update.

The ICO sector is running out of time. Contrary to what you have posted, I would say that the ICOs will die out completely within the next 2-3 years, if the market situation remains unchanged. The ICOs have ruined the lives of a lot of people, who trusted these projects. The investors also should be blamed, for investing such huge amounts without proper research.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty may be an income medium for unemployed youth. on: May 28, 2019, 04:59:35 PM
I would not recommend bounty for unemployed people (especially youth). If someone is not without a full-time job, then it will be better for him to learn new skills or ean an educational degree, so that he will be able to land a good job offer. Bounty campaign revenue can act as a passive income for those who are already having a full time job.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Airdrop is more profitable than Social Media Bounty ? on: May 28, 2019, 04:41:03 PM
During 2017 and the first half of 2018, I used to take part in a lot of the airdrops. And some of them proved to be very profitable. But the situation got changed almost one year back. Some of the users began cheating the system by using automated bots. These guys were able to apply for the same airdrop hundreds of times, and as a result of this the payout for the honest user declined by a lot.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stable coin on: May 28, 2019, 04:37:18 PM
Stablecoins will surely play an important role in the future. We need them in order to do some serious business in the payment sector.

They may or may not play an important role in the future. But their reliability will always be under question. Even if a particular stablecoin manages to get 100% backup with fiat cash, there is no guarantee that these assets will not be either seized or stolen in the future. And that is the problem when you deal with fiat cash instead of decentralized crypto.
33  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin goes down, no new rich people anymore on: May 28, 2019, 04:24:33 PM
Bitcoin is now more than 10 years old. So someone investing in BTC at this point of time can't be classified as an early adopter. So it is only logical to say that 100x and 200x returns are no longer possible with Bitcoin. If you want that sort of returns, then you should go for some little known altcoin (at your own risk). We need to be realistic with the returns from BTC.
34  Economy / Economics / Re: Who controls the market? on: May 28, 2019, 04:22:08 PM
Gone are the days when whales used to manipulate the markets by pumping in a few millions of USD in short period of time. This method is no longer viable now. There are too many exchanges around us, and the daily volumes are being measured in billions. Even now manipulation is theoretically possible, but it requires huge amount of effort and funds.
35  Economy / Economics / Re: Price of goods goes up, salary never goes up!!! on: May 28, 2019, 04:19:47 PM
Unfortunately, what the author writes about the topic is a harsh reality. In fact, the wages for all people have always been and will be no more than necessary to maintain a very low standard of living. Of course there are exceptions, but we are now talking about the average wage on the planet. The average employee’s salary is only a beggarly amount that the state gives us for the sole purpose - that this slave does not die of hunger and keep spinning like a squirrel in a wheel.

I don't think that your post is factually correct. The situation varies from region to region. In the EU and the US, the salaries are high enough to afford good standards of living. But the same can't be said about third world nations such as India and Brazil. But even in these nations, the standard of living is continuously going up.
36  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bare Knuckle: Malignaggi vs Lobov June 22 on: May 28, 2019, 04:16:30 PM
Motormouth Paulie Malignaggi is upsetting quite a few people. Just a few days back, he called the MMA commuity as "piece of sh!t". Then went on to claim that boxing is tougher than MMA, because the former is having a higher death toll. I think that this guy is brain damaged. Do we measure toughness of a particular competition by its death toll? Gross!
37  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: May 28, 2019, 04:11:05 PM
Pacman is already a veteran in boxing and he had faced different fighters with different styles, with those experiences I think pacman's team has already come up with a strategy on defeating Thurman but I would say Thurman is good because he is considered the hardest punchers in his division so he can still be a remarkable opponent.

The age advantage is with Keith Thurman. In case Manny gets a KO during the initial rounds (which is extremely unlikely), then it is going to be his best chance. But as the fighting goes on, Manny will get exhausted much more than Thurman (due to his age and lack of practise). My prediction is that in case the fight lasts for the full 12 rounds, then Thurman will win.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC vs USD - Which one is better? on: May 28, 2019, 04:02:30 PM
Bitcoin is not the best guidance during the crisis, because there are many negative factors, including how difficult it is to turn Bitcoins into real money.

Bitcoin is too risky asset!

This is very surprising. Looks like you are not very knowledgeable about crypto. There are dozens of options to convert your coins to fiat cash, including anonymous as well as non-anonymous methods. The easiest method is to get cash deposited in your bank account, after selling your coins through localbitcoins or any other p2p site.
39  Other / Off-topic / Re: Favorite Bitcoin exchange? on: May 28, 2019, 03:58:24 PM
I don't trade a lot with altcoins. So exchanges such as Kraken and Bitstamp works perfect for me. The only irritant with these exchanges is the KYC requirement. But I guess we don't have any other option, especially since Wex.nz closed down. That said, I have accounts with at least two dozen exchanges. But Bistamp/Kraken remains my favorite exchanges. Cryptopia was also a favorite, but it is history now.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Monero Reach $500 in 2019? on: May 28, 2019, 03:21:03 AM
I suppose that in 2019 there is no hype on anonymous coins anymore, because now crypto and real sector of economy should be a friends.

There is a lot of hype going around anonymous cryptos even now, and new anonymous coins such as Verge, Veil and Deep Onion are getting a lot of attention from the big players. However, established players such as Monero and Zcash are likely to witness their market shares plummet, due to security concerns. The newer coins are likely to poach in to the market share of XMR/ZEC , rather than creating a share of their own. In that case, we can expect XMR to go down.
