201  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Spending my Bitcoin on GOLD / SILVER?... Do I have to pay tax? on: January 07, 2017, 09:34:25 PM
but i think i have never seen such an exchange where the exchange of bitcoin in gold or Silver is done. so my personal view is that if there are such exchange who can convert your bitcoin into gold or silver then you must have to pay tax to them.
There are many websites that accept bitcoins as payment mode to buy gold/silver:
bitgild.com
amagimetals.com
veldtgold.com
coaex.com

And many more websites are planning to implement bitcoins as a payment mode. It's only when we convert bitcoins to fiat that we need to care about taxes else it's nothing to fear about.

Interesting, so if I buy gold with bitcoins, I will get gold coins (say) delivered to my home, I don't this will have tax consequences right (precious metal seller don't report to IRS)? Then when I sell gold coins, it can be a taxable event. Any comments? I am living in US.
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: OroCoin [ORO] - The first currency with a block reward uniquely pegged to gold. on: January 07, 2017, 08:14:21 PM

Despite the dev jumped in and out here, it is a shitcoin by many facts:
- launched by a newbie - trying to hide his identity for a quick money grab and then disappear
- ICO with no credibility
- coin has nothing new, so many shitcoins "pegged to gold", a typical scam.

Dev, jumping in and out does not help, show us:
- what is your credibility?
- what new things you did for this coin, list them in details (not high level blah blah)?

Do you think people out there are so stupid and will "invest" in your shitcoin? unless you put some facts there, it will be no way!

Stop shitting on our thread. We've already responded to this once before.

If you don't like our project, don't get involved, but stop coming in here with the sole purpose of shitting all over the place and making baseless accusations.

LOL @ "nothing new" - Makes it clear you didn't even read the info.

Better letting people know what it is under the cover, than to cheat some ignorant "investors". Let people know the truth is not a bad thing.

It is an epidemy for newbies to launch coins and do ICOs...
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] XBY - Bitmox ** ICO CROWDFUNDING LIVE NOW ** ANOTHER CCEX SCAM ICO on: January 07, 2017, 08:12:05 PM
The newbie launched ICO craps with copy-and-paste coin becomes epidemic here in this forum. Why there are people sooooooooo stupid to "invest" in these coins? If no "investors" these coins will die automatically. These high school kids will ask their mom for money instead of coming here to cheat...

newbie + ICO + copy-paste coin  = scam

206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 05, 2017, 07:21:09 AM
I would have not given any BB to ICO fund owners, if for no other reason, they will just dump their free money without giving it back to their investors or if they will give to investors they can simply claim that it was sold for 5x, 10x less than the actual number.. but distribution is already made so, don't know if you can do anything from here on to make it "fairer", maybe to give out free BB for active users even if they have no btc or little btc.

You can't force ICO owners to claim BB and distribute to investors. BB did not exist when those ICOs are started. It is their own desire to claim or not to claim. You can't also don't force them to stop selling. Many people will pile up to ask for free BB with no btc mandatory.

The problem with ICO owners is the fact that they contribute nothing to BB yet they own most of it. This distribution model was made to reward early active users, that's written in the OP. I do believe this coin will be big because it's unique, it came out with a functioning product (I never even saw an ICO with a functioning product even before the launch, let alone a free pow/pos coin) and it can't scam like an ICO or instamined/premined/ninja launched coin. Those who think this is a database for the FBI or CIA...your PC, phone, tablet, car and your every move is already tracked by cameras, ID cards, credit cards, online shopping, gps whatever you do, your identity is being saved and sold to the highest bidder, it's business as usual. Oh yeah, BB has anonymous transaction did you know that ?

Totally agree with what you said. The distribution of the BB should be to its supporters, most are active in this forum, and to the developers of the applications on top of this framework. When I read the white paper, I see tons of features, great features, that will be used by the applications. So we should reward the creator of these applications with byteballs. Random people, when receiving bb, if they don't have an interest to it, will just dump it. It does not help the coin.
207  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and the Ransomware problem? on: January 05, 2017, 05:08:44 AM
Possibly there's no way to resolve this, or at least no good ways. One possibility is to have a centralized place, where it has bitcoin's checkpoint private key, and somehow exclude that particular tx from being used. That is, its tx output can not be spent. This will require significant changes in the bitcoin code though.
208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese exchanges deny bypassing capital control but regulation inevitable on: January 05, 2017, 04:47:21 AM
They obviously want to deny in order to avoid trouble with the government. But the fact is, Chinese people so hot in bitcoin because they want to bypass the regulations and want to move the money freely to abroad. This is the fact, which will certainly lead to stricter rules in China soon.
209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is CHINA CONTROLLING Bitcoin? on: January 05, 2017, 04:45:10 AM
China may have most bitcoin users, it is possibly because people there want to hide their money and move the money outside the country. But they can never control the bitcoin, it is a freely traded token. Like gold, no one can really control the gold.
210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in the last 24 hours on: January 05, 2017, 04:42:38 AM
Bitcoin price at $1144 now, what an amazing move in the last few days. It will break all time high very soon! This will create more news in the media and more and more people will know it and join the bitcoin, wonderful!
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 05, 2017, 04:36:41 AM
I did not say the distribution was unfair.

I simply stated that the rules for the distribution of remaining coins are unknown and they depend on one entity. If it was a multisig or foundatiuon, it would not be better. It is still one priviliged group of people who can decide on the future distribution parameters.  This is a distribution without clear rules.

With good coins you can see the rules that were set in stone from the beginning. Subsequent changes (for example in mininig subsidy) were possible but a large consensus was necessary, most miners had to agree etc.

I I were tonych I would not give the funds to multisig. Too dangerous. He can lose control, he can get under pressure from people who only pretend interest. It is his creation.

Instead he should improve the rules of the future distribution, make them finite and follow them to the letter. The undistributed coins should be frozen in an address where anybody can see them.

It is unfair, it is the game of lisk, waves and iconomi, let this coin die, the most unfair distribution I have seen, normal investors got almost nothing.

waves sold their coins at very low price
Iconomi keep the coins for long term investment wich is a extra plus for BB , read more about their project.
lisk dunno...

what is the problem... will be more coins for free.  cheers

The problem is that the purpose of the distribution is to enhance the coin and its support, not give opponent ammunition to attack coin and make profits. Wave dumped at very low price, they have no intention to help this coin, why the heck we will give them free coin?? I'd suggest to ban that address in the next distribution.

lol, newbie initiated ICO again. Is the same guy doing multiple of this? or there are many students trying to get something as some people said? either way it is quite amusing.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: (ANN){STC}CRYPTO STREETS COIN | scrypt PoW/PoS | on: January 04, 2017, 10:07:07 PM
looks like a copy-paste coin from blackcoin, with pretty hefty premine:

Quote
           int64_t nSubsidy = 600 * COIN;

            if(nBestHeight == 0)
            {
            nSubsidy = 59111111 * COIN; <===premine
            }
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 04, 2017, 09:53:48 PM
Maybe that's the reason we won't see large exchanges listing BB anytime soon.

If BB hodlers are numerous and exchanges only make money on tx fees then I can't see them paying too much emphasis on adding BB anytime soon.

Also since it is new codebase completely different from the bitcoin codebase where 95% of the coin are based on, it will take time for exchanges to integrate with the new codebase so they probably don't have time to do it.
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: LIVE ICO January 06, 2017 at 12:00PM EST on: January 04, 2017, 09:51:10 PM
Yes there are too many newbie initiated ICOs. I don't know how these people think, how can they get money like this? They can't expect other people as dumb as they are. They got no chance to get free money like this.
216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XTR] Extreme Chain (DPOS, DEX, MPA) on: January 04, 2017, 09:44:57 PM
selling 200000 XTR for 0.35 Btc.... pm me if interested.

I guess distribution is still on, anyone can get it by registering an account at extreme.moonstonedac.com, why the heck they will buy it from you? seems greedy to me lol  Grin

This is an interesting project as compared to many other newbie launched ICOs. Hope it will be a success. But with 4 days left it does not seem that the dev can get 50 BTCs they wanted though.
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 30, 2016, 12:12:48 AM
Looks like the 2nd distribution and up the bitcoin weight is pretty low. Need 16 BTC to get 1 GByte. First distribution is 0.7 BTC for 1 GByte? Huge differences.

Yes it is the early adopter advantages.

I am wondering why there's no larger exchanges? bittrex, poloniex? yobit? I guess they all want bitcoins in order to be listed.

if I clean up the cache of the browser, my wallet will be gone? I have a back up, what are the processes to restore the wallet from the backup?

Development Roadmap
Development - Q1 - Q3 2017
Test net launch - Q2 2017
Security Audit: Q4 2017
Launch of 1st app - date tba
Main net launch - Q1 2018

Everyone has to wait until 2018 for this coin to launch Huh WTF and I thought Etherum was bad, if you have tested your coin and decided to make an announcement then why do you have to start developing or are you just thinking up ideas without actually developing them with trial and error before saying " Hey guys I'm making a new coin, want to be part of it" LMFAO Cheesy

Possible an ICO, and by 2018 all ICO fund will be spent and the devs will disappear, lol, a nice scheme.

All those are high level blah blah, any concrete parts being implemented and working?

and, of course, it is a coin launched by a newbie, what a credibility!
