Watching the Bryce drama unfold on Twitter.  Many of his coins have crashed today, UNO seems frozen in doubt. The next few days are going to be interesting.

Look, the undead are rising from their graves. Happy Halloween everybody! Wink

There seems to be far less MintPal-directed hate on this thread for "losing" possibly 12 billion coins (and possibly scamming others out of loads of BTC) than kosmost-directed hate for me taking care of 8 billion coins without a hitch, and returning every single one of them safely well before anyone but me considered the SEC an issue.
You returned the coins, bravo for doing the right thing. Just don't expect an award for it. Why you actually feel the need to compare yourself with such scammers to paint your actions in a better light is beyond me though.

Nobody from Mintpal visits this thread so who should people yell at, thin air? There are other places to vent your anger over Mintpal than here. And I'm pretty sure a whole lot more people are a whole lot more pissed about what these Moolah scammers have done/are doing, than ever were bothered about you disbanding Karmashares. I'm also sure that if Alex/Ryan or one of the other people involved with Minpal showed up here and took questions about the missing Karma, you'd see a whole lot of ugly posts pretty fast.

We can keep an eye on this wallet. If it moves, then it's because MP/Alex Green is moving it.

we'll be watching that for sure.

"Alex Green" ... I knew the first second i heard this name it wasn't a real one. What a person.

I feel a bit guilty for encouraging trading on Mintpal in the past. I too didn't know this would turn out like that. I'll not recommend cryptoexchanges again or encourage trading anywhere after seeing how fast these things can turn bad.

edit:
Moolah keeps ignoring me  Angry
Mintpal V1 under their original owners was IMO a great exchange, there's no shame in recommending that platform in the past. Ever since the VRC debacle there was reason to be cautions (their security was obviously not as good as it could have been) and I withdrew most of my coins in the following weeks. Swore to never leave more than 1 BTC worth of coins on there and stuck with that rule.

Nobody could forsee the massive scam that was behind Moolah and the takeover though. Moolah and Alex Green were well respcted before this happened, only after the V2 relaunch was such an obvious debacle the facade started to fall apart.

We're lucky UNO wasn't as huge on Mintpal as some other coins. Several high volume alts have seen huge dumps the past week, which is very likely due to the stolen alts being "cashed out" for BTC.

Well there is no official element 120 on the periodic table. Although I can find a lot of references to a hypothetical chemical element 120 called "Unbinilium" or "Ubn". Would be interesting to hear Blazr's thought on this.

I think a round of applause is in order. Thanks Benefactor and Mark for organizing and completing this award. Great job!

Trying to get the big picture here, I've seen this info summarized before, but I can't seem to find it at the moment...

Approximately how many coins are being minted per day now?  (I seem to recall 16, but not sure.)

The main unobtaium.uno page says:

Quote
Unobtanium distribution has two stages. Roughly 190,000 units will be distributed during the first 6 block halvings. The remaining 60,000 units are for long-term mining support.

Since that page also currently shows the number of mined coins as 191,970.72, I assume we are now in that "remaining 60,000 unit" phase that I think I understand will last for some 300 years.  Are there going to more block halvings in this period?  If so, how many, and when is the next one?  Will the number of coins per day being minted also be cut in half at that time from what they currently are?

Blazr posted a table of the rewards structure way back in this thread. Hope that answers your questions.

2 billion Karma.Fuck Angry
Woah, my condolences.  Sad

If I still had any coins on Cryptsy I'd also try to get them out now. Not that I'm really concerned about that lawsuit, doesn't really look all that convincing to me. But it never hurts to be safe.
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: October 23, 2014, 12:59:46 PM
Its an interesting question. You'd think that there's many young people into crypto, but my impression is thats mainly the loud teeny-traders on Twitter that create that picture ("yay I'm a millionaire with 18, all praise me"). There's also a whole lot of middle-aged and older people too, they're just less vocal about it.

My guess is that Unobtanium has a more mature audience than many coins, but not by a huge margin. Myself I'm a thritysomething from a tech background, so i fit the cliché of the average crypto enthusiast pretty well. Wink
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: October 23, 2014, 10:10:08 AM

And as far as I can tell nobody is complaining about stolen Mintpal UNO??
(same can't be said for Veri, sys, karma, dark, etc.)

I guess because UNO never did take off in a big way on Mintpal, people are not so worried about huge amounts of coin being stored there? Which might very well be a false sense of security.

So far we haven't seen any huge dumps, and IIRC people were able to withdraw their Uno until recently? Its only that a couple of transactions got stuck and those coins are now inaccessible. Which ssounds more like a bug and lack of support staff to resolve the probably huge backlog of issues.

Volume down today, but price is up so that's not so bad.

In other good news, Bleautrade market is now listed on http://unobtanium.uno/ enjoy!

Thanks for the update!
Yes, I can't complain about the price as a hodler.
Hodling Unobtanium is the best!

Does anyone have an idea how much Karma was in Mintpal? Hot wallets or cold.
I'm one of the lucky ones since had about 1 million there, I'll be surprised if its come home.
I've been accumulating since April and most were in my wallet.
Good luck to everyone, maybe, just maybe the former mintpal owners can regain some control and see whats
left behind.
I think a moderately safe guess would be this wallet is Mintpal: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/karm/wallet.dws?32536.htm
In my past experience this (experimental) Chainz feature was able to roughly predict the amount of Unobtanium stored on Cryptsy. Turned out to be even more than the projection (>50k coins instead of ~45k), so maybe in reality it's 13-14 instead of 11.5 billion.

I was lucky too, I only had 0.00000023 KARM left on Mintpal. Actually that was everythin I had left there. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe I just learned to read the signs. I've been burnt on Coinex and Cryptorush before and am now relatively strict in keeping most of my coins off-exchange.

Happy birthday Unobtanium, one year old already, time goes by so fast! Smiley

Despite the bad guys, the GOOD GUYS & GALS are going to make good things happen for UNO in year 2!!  We're just getting started!

Cool! Will have to watch that later, @work right now...

I wonder if global fraud crimes have decreased now 'all' the scummers are focused on crypto-scamming
LOL, very much a possibility!  Cheesy
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: October 16, 2014, 09:46:58 AM
Crypto continues to be such a crazy place. You just can't make all the shit up that constantly happens. This would make a great movie someday, lol.
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karma / ₭ / X11 on: October 14, 2014, 11:53:43 PM
The writing was on the wall. Moolah says Mintpal will not close down, though who's gonna trust a new management AGAIN?

Sad, Mintpal was Karma's home in many ways. It was one of the two coins they originally launched with. Karma was part of Mintpal's history and the other way around. Sigh.

Yeah, it's sad to see MP turn into a business school case study on how to destroy your business, but that is what it has become.  I try to do a trade, it says that it's attempting to do the trade and then hangs, withdrawals don't work, P/R and customer service are suspect...

Just a sad deal  Sad
They are just overwhelmed with the sheer amount of problems they had to solve. From what I read here and elsewhere they are making progress, but for everything they solve 2 new problems show up.

I am really suprised they still got the trainwreck of a platform running at this point. They should have pulled after 24-48h max and tried to get everything fixed. Instead they're now operating a broken platform and can't even begin to work through their backlog of bugs, support tickets and angry customers. The funny thing is their lack of confidence is even showing in their code, I never before heard of a trading platform "attempting to place an order", lol! "Okay sir, I will try. But don't be angry if it doesn't work and your funds are stuck, m'kay?"
