201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Adam Guerbuez claims some very big news is coming for Bitcoin this friday on: January 17, 2015, 08:01:00 PM
So did anything interesting happen at the Miami Bitcoin conference?
202  Economy / Speculation / Re: idiots dumping the price on: January 17, 2015, 07:59:09 PM
wtf i bought at 500 now its 200
You've done your part for Bitcoin. Bitcoin needs suckers like you to keep going. It's zero-sum; for every win, there is a loser. Bitcoin needs a continuous supply of losers pouring in money and losing it. You're one of them.

Thank you for your service.
203  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bye Bye to sub-$200 cheap coins on: January 17, 2015, 07:54:34 PM
The price is steady, just below $200 right now.  $199.58 on Bitstamp. Volume is low. There are no walls. It's very quiet. Maybe some big traders took the weekend off.
204  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bye Bye to sub-$200 cheap coins on: January 17, 2015, 07:51:39 AM
The price is holding right at $200 ± $1.  The wall at 200 is gone. Things are very quiet.
205  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bye Bye to sub-$200 cheap coins on: January 17, 2015, 05:25:12 AM

206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what is the friday's spooky crazy rumor circulating about bitcoin? on: January 17, 2015, 12:33:46 AM
Seems to have been a troll. The Friday work day is over and there's no significant Bitcoin news.
207  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you had to make a movie about Karpeles, what title would you give it? on: January 17, 2015, 12:32:31 AM
"The Fall of Bitcoin"
208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Adam Guerbuez claims some very big news is coming for Bitcoin this friday on: January 17, 2015, 12:30:42 AM
No Bitcoin news on Google News other than Silk Road trial and crash reports.

So that guy was trolling.
209  Economy / Speculation / Re: We missed the moon on: January 16, 2015, 07:59:27 PM
This bubble was very bad for me: I buyed even at 4 digits, i build a scrypt miner and I was not able to ROI, I was scammed for little amounts. I never sold, beside little bad trades.
It's suckers like you who made Bitcoin a success. Thank you for your service.

Always remember, Bitcoin is zero-sum. For Bitcoin to have winners, there must be losers. The success of Bitcoin demands the constant recruitment of new losers. This is the job of Bitcoin's supporters.
210  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's always sharp dips on: January 16, 2015, 07:54:55 PM
Am I mistaken in thinking that the price isn't going down gradually but it goes down in large dips? It's as if big whales are dumping again and again.
That's normal for highly speculative, thinly traded investments. Noise generates a move, and then momentum investors pick it up and follow the trend. Look at some pink sheet stock charts. When they move, it looks like that.
211  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bye Bye to sub-$200 cheap coins on: January 16, 2015, 07:47:28 PM
Bears did three major attacks after the grand crash to $166 (bitfinex).

First tanks the price to $172, second tanks it to $197 and the recent one tanks it to $198.

Strength of the bear attacks are getting weaker and volume of bear attacks is shrinking. In addition, we see higher lows.

We may have to say bye bye to sub-$200 coins. Congrats to those sub-$200 purchases.
It was $300 at the beginning of the month. $270 five days ago. Now we're at $210. The trend is still downward. Dropping all the way to $152 was a momentary crash in the middle of the night, but after the crash, the price was still down $50.
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Binary Options - Beware of Scams... on: January 16, 2015, 08:10:22 AM
Binary options are mostly a scam. They usually aren't an "option" at all; they're a bet against the house. The house sets the payoff rates. This usually works out well for the house. Not so much for customers. Read the Wikipedia article on Banc de Binary for background.

Bitcoin binary options are even worse, because it's cheap and easy to manipulate the price of Bitcoin for a minute or two.

213  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Oh boy - I think this is going to be big... Tether on Bitfinex on: January 16, 2015, 07:58:00 AM
Tether has nothing to do with Bitcoin. Tether is like American Express and their travelers checks. Except that the terms suck:

Excludes all liability for damages arising out of or in connection with your use of this website. This includes, without limitation, direct loss, loss of business or profits (whether or not the loss of such profits was foreseeable, arose in the normal course of things or you have advised this Company of the possibility of such potential loss), damage caused to your computer, computer software, systems and programs and the data thereon or any other direct or indirect, consequential and incidental damages. May not be held liable for any losses incurred, either directly or indirectly, through your use of The Website of any of its functionality / function and features.

They claim that their site has a link which shows their fiat bank account balance. Not finding it.

Nor do they say who or where they are.

They just want you to send them your money and trust them.
214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Price of Bitcoin Doesn’t Matter Right Now | Wired on: January 15, 2015, 08:17:06 PM
Bitcoin is best thought of as a 5- to 10-year project, and we’re at the very early stages.
It looks more like we're in the late stages.

There have been two major Bitcoin bubbles - one powered by Silk Road drug sales, and one powered by China exchange control evasion. In both cases, the relevant authorities plugged the hole, and the bubble burst. For Bitcoin to rise again, it needs a new large-scale illegal use.  Adoption by Mexican drug cartels, maybe.
215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sadness on: January 15, 2015, 08:08:44 PM
how much have you lost?
You don't lose till you sell.
No, that's delusional. You have to value your assets at market.
216  Economy / Speculation / Re: the Pump/Rebound will soon be insane. on: January 15, 2015, 03:54:07 AM
Bitcoin price is so damn low now that i believe the pump will soon throw us up some Couple of hundred dollars. buy now or regret it later.
Now that's trolling.
217  Economy / Speculation / Re: The price is dropping, fine. But How much should it be worth? on: January 15, 2015, 03:50:48 AM
Forget supply and demand... what about the contagious wild fire and lust for btc?
That was last year. Look at Google Trends for "bitcoin". Bitcoin is old news now. Notice that the Google Trends graph for Bitcoin strongly resembles the price graph.

Here's a useful Google Trends chart: "bitcoin" and "second life" Second Life was a hot concept in 2006-2007, a true 3D world anyone could visit on line and create their own content. Second Life is an excellent, impressive technology. It's still around, and it works fine. But it has 6% of the attention it had at peak.

Bitcoin's trajectory looks similar. Bitcoin's attention level peaked about a year ago, and it's now down to 25% of its peak search traffic.  That's about where Second Life was a year after its peak.

This is what a niche product in decline looks like.
218  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Sneak Peek of an Upcoming Exchange on: January 15, 2015, 03:47:21 AM
We actually want to operate under real identity, but planning to come out with some proper media coverage. Current data is just a dump for as long as we are testing...

Another scumbag/flake exchange. Do not need. Do not want.

Criticism is always welcome. But it would have been better if u do some constructive criticism. After so many scams, it is no wonder that people will wary about a new business in bitcoin, but at the same time it is also disheartening to see that you are calling something outright scam that we are working on for almost a year. I'd rather like to know, why do you think it is a scam and what would convince you that it is real ?
You lied about your business identity. You got caught. You don't get to handle the money of others.
219  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we going to see bitcoin below 100 soon? on: January 14, 2015, 11:03:13 PM
Could it be "satoshit" dumping the living shit out of his massive premine. I'm wondering what would happen if btc just crumbles to the ground. Will that be the end of all crypto's?
About 30% of Bitcoins haven't moved in over two years, and are assumed to have been lost in the early days of Bitcoin. If anything moved from those addresses, it would be noticed.

220  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC crashing, under $200 and falling fast. on: January 14, 2015, 08:51:27 AM
Never seen that anywhere, anytime. Crashing so quickly!

Does anyone know of something that could explain this apart from pure panic?

In a thinly traded market in the middle of the night, stuff like this can happen. That's how we got from $205 to $152 in a few minutes.  Now things have settled out around $180. But that's still down $25 from earlier in the day, and the $200 barrier has been broken for the first time.
