205  Other / Off-topic / Re: The best Journalism as of now educating new generations...its not CNN on: November 25, 2013, 02:59:13 AM
the best journalism is #1 about getting true and factual stories out, and profit comes #2 though it is very important.

CNN, MSNBC, and FOX are all about profits, and everything else is secondary.

The "best" journalism will be profit-agnostic. This is rarely possible in today's society, so we can only settle for better journalism. All journalism will be corrupted somehow.

Reuters and Al Jazeera are among the few remaining media outlets that have yet to become fully corrupt.
206  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin charts on: November 23, 2013, 05:16:41 AM
http://bitcoincharts.com/charts

Why is this site always a 502 bad gateway?? Does anyone know who operates this site so I can request a refund on the donation I sent them so many months ago?

If you want to fix the 502 you should send them more donations, not try to "get a refund" on donations already sent.

209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: List of Major Bitcoin Heists, Thefts, Hacks, Scams, and Losses on: November 21, 2013, 11:13:01 PM
My time is better spent updating the list to finish the ever-expanding backlog than resolving contentious topics such as these. A footnote will hopefully resolve this dispute. It will probably come in the next update.
210  Economy / Speculation / Re: BEAR TRAP :) on: November 19, 2013, 01:48:21 AM
And up we go! Congrats to all those that added at ~500

No. That's what's called a "bull trap". Happens every bubble.

212  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: November 17, 2013, 10:28:38 PM
Here's an updater. I haven't updated for a while because I feel it is no longer interesting seeing these consecutive all-time highs, as it's a sea of bold. However, if you want an update, feel free to ask. Don't pay me for it; this takes less than 5 seconds to generate. I'll look into automating it in the future.

Thanks a lot! So there is one last remnant of the last bubble still on the list and with each day that passes without a huge crash it gets bumped down.

Maybe you could do an automated version of this in the vein of chartbuddy? In a dedicated thread or in the Wall observer? The Wall observer thread is a lounge for people with nothing else to do but to stare at all things Bitcoin all day anyway so they might as well have something to talk about  Cheesy

ChartBuddy-esque won't be too hard. The BitcoinTalk scraper I have only does reading, not writing, though. Once I have the time I'll consider adding posting capabilities.
213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fanatic linked to ricin attack on: November 17, 2013, 06:40:08 PM
This is the type of crap from the media I detest. Was Al Capone a "USD Drug Bazaar"? Drug Bazzars are bad, period, no matter what currency they deal in. Why should Bitcoin be singled out?

Relative to the currency base, what percentage of the USD do youthink is used to buy and sell narcotics? Now do the same calculation for Bitcoin.

Relative to the population base, what proportion of all Americans commit violent crimes? Now do the same calculation for men.

10 nBTC (1 satoshi) Smallest unit currently supported.
Grain of sand.
Damn! Grain of sand is kinda pricey

You're completely right: the satoshi is worth a lot more than the average grain of sand. In fact, it's worth 3 times as much as a large grain of sand. However, it's also worth only a quarter of a grain of rice, which is the next step up. Hopefully I clarified the value now, explicitly stating that it is a large grain of sand.
216  Other / Off-topic / Visualizing Bitcoin units on: November 17, 2013, 04:27:51 AM

Leandro,

Cadê os meus ~2200 Bitcoins que "sumiram" no Mercado Bitcoin e que até agora você não me devolveu? E nem apresentou nenhum evidência deste suposto roubo...
Leandro,

WHERE ARE MY ~2400.00 BITCOINS Huh  -  That you "lost" at MercadoBitcoin.com.br? You presented no evidence at all. No logs, no blockchain tracking, nothing... Only lies.

Which number is correct?

Is that an attempt to defend the scammer ? I'm failing to see any relevance there, one of them could've made a typo but so what ?

No. I am not defending Léandro in any way. Just curious.
218  Other / Meta / Re: Building a new trust list... Why should I trust you? on: November 17, 2013, 02:31:19 AM
Thanks for the input. I'll delve a bit deeper into your histories before I commit to anyone. When I'm done, I'll post the update trust list here.

Slow, steady growth.. this is what we need.

I'll give you "steady", but "slow"? This growth is anything but slow.
