ακόμα και σε μορφή κριτικαρισμάτων
Όταν λες "σε μορφή κριτικαρισμάτων", τι εννοείς; Να σου κάνει κριτική απλά ή να σου απαγορεύει τις αγορές σου;

203  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't do this mistakes in trading on: March 23, 2024, 05:42:24 PM
I'm sorry OP but these two points you mentioned are nothing but unique. Actually, you'll find this kind of advice all over the forum, you haven't pointed out anything that's particularly exclusive to justify the opening of a new thread. Although what you mentioned is true, greed and spending more money than you can actually afford, are two of the largest plagues, especially for a beginner, it has been mentioned several times already, luckily though, some users have added their feedback as well.
204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your take? on: March 23, 2024, 04:59:07 PM
If the lower-odd one is more likely to win, I'd go for that one. I'm not really knowledgeable about other football teams except the ones in my country's league; these are the only ones I engage with in sports betting, but I tend to observe the week's matches and choose the ones that are at least more likely to return a positive result based on their performance and my experience. Betting on the most superior team and often skipping matches that are harder to come up with a result.

Thus, I'd rather guarantee I get a win, by opting for smaller odds, than taking greater risks with higher odds.
205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A weird interview on: March 23, 2024, 03:15:42 PM
Probably because a more common response (not going to say normal; who defines what is and what isn't?) would be to call your family, wife, husband, or someone closely related to you anyway. Don't expect too much from someone who's unfamiliar with the concept of cryptocurrencies to fathom your passion, I'm not sure if that would be the first thing I'd do, but I'd surely be wondering, especially if I had over 1 Bitcoin.
be prepared core devs are already trying to remove legacy key functionality within core. which other wallet that follow core code usually then follow.. so if you disappeared for a decade, expect a headache trying to get wallets of the future from even understanding old key import methods

yep they have for last few years been preparing to remove legacy key import methods and pretend there will be a separate migration tool (easier to just keep it in core.. but core devs dont care for whats best for users) but funnily enough although preparing to remove legacy key import from core, the irritating narcissist pushing to remove it has not actually built the "separate migration tool" he pretends would be the "promise of backward compatibility"

so be prepared if they are removing legacy soon, expect they will remove other things later..
Any particular reasoning on why this is going to happen, or was it simply announced with no particular explanation provided? The Github you quoted is from 2020, almost 4 years have already passed, is there any chance that it's not actually going to be implemented?
206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stop gambling if you don’t have free time to do it on: March 23, 2024, 02:21:24 PM
It will undoubtedly disrupt your other activities if you insert it when it doesn't have a place in your schedule. Gambling should be considered an extra activity and not a necessity, so even if someone likes gambling very much, they need to make sure they schedule their gambling activities according to their regular schedule and do it in such a way that it shouldn't disturb other important activities and things such as your job and the time of your rest.

A lot of people make this mistake, students that have classes in the morning stay up late either to gamble or play games, people working in offices stay up late for some reason either gambling or something else, that is wrong and it shouldn't be that way. You should have your priorities set.
Correct, I don't understand why the OP felt that he had to gamble every evening. Why such a rush? Do it whenever you're free. Where's the fun in pressuring yourself into doing something for which you practically have no available time? On top of that, the OP managed to mess up their sleeping schedule by staying away until midnight, which is extremely unhealthy in the long run if it becomes a habit. It's something that's supposed to be an entertaining activity, while gambling at midnight is the ideal way to make the wrong decisions due to exhaustion and quickly run out of money.
207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling until you go totally broke on: March 23, 2024, 01:42:08 PM
You were too nice and lenient on him; I personally wouldn't lend him a single cent; it's like giving a drug addict his dose. I'm guessing that you already acknowledge that there's a high chance of not receiving your money back—not that it's a large amount, but the motive is what counts in this case. Unfortunately, having seen a few similar cases myself, this is all proof of how harmful gambling addiction is. I've never been in that situation and am not planning to ever be. I can't imagine how someone can end up like that. It's a vicious, never-ending cycle.

If I were you, I'd refrain from lending him money again. Although he might return the $20, you'll be a close contact for borrowing money in the future.

208  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best way to go about making a crypto casino. on: March 23, 2024, 09:17:13 AM
Even though this is the gambling section, I don't believe that this is the right place to ask. You need to ask for assistance from professionals who specialize in this field. Moreover, I'm not quite sure if you have understood how complicated it is for an individual; you'll also need to acquire a license and, certainly, a legal team or practitioner to represent you. These two by themselves are costly procedures, let alone the game and website development. I think you need to think this through. Maybe you could consider developing a single game, like Bustabit's Crash, in case you have any unique ideas.
209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Soo, bitcoin is now over 70K on: March 23, 2024, 07:43:04 AM
I remember reading your story a few months ago, and it's completely reasonable to feel this way because it wasn't directly your fault; you didn't transfer the funds yourself. Although you shouldn't have kept funds at a casino either, there's no point in reprimanding you for your mistakes. I'm pretty sure we've all done some stupid stuff that we sometimes regret as well. I've also lost money to online wallets and services from 2014 to 2015, and I also lost some Dogecoin that would have been worth a reasonable sum of money because I never saved or improperly stored the wallet credentials. I also made poor trading choices when I was a newbie, foolish purchases with Bitcoin, such as Minecraft accounts, and possibly many more.

Thus, don't sweat it too much about it; we've all made plenty of mistakes in the past, and had I known any better back then, I would have a healthy amount of money now that would have relieaved most of my financial burden.
210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying/Selling & Using Bitcoin in El Salvador. on: March 22, 2024, 11:56:19 PM
This may be anecdotal but, couple of months ago, someone posted about their El salvador trip in r/bitcoin, see: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/17otops/just_got_back_from_el_salvador_thoughts_on_bitcoin/

With most folks being unbanked and cash being the the most common payment method, tbh, I would not expect most merchants are accepting bitcoin since it's not easy to come from those so have your fiat ready at all times and plan a nice itenerary surrounding bitcoin accepted shops.
That's an interesting story, and El Salvador sounds like a great place to visit. I wouldn't mind a vacation there as well, if the flights weren't so expensive. Regarding Bitcoin adoption, it would be best to hear it directly from someone local, even though this story provides great feedback. Honestly, it's kind of expected that the adoption isn't that great; even after 3 years, it became legal tender. Most locals are unaware of how exactly it works, and it's completely understandable; perhaps the government hasn't assisted in that part as well to make it more approachable.

Apart from that, Bitcoin's volatility might be an off-putting factor for vendors, as they're relying on that money for their livelihood. A price dip will ultimately result in a loss of revenue, and although things can go both ways, some prefer not to risk it.
211  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is poloniex safe? on: March 22, 2024, 11:04:45 PM
It would be better if you could provide some links supporting those claims, because we don't see people reporting such scams in the scam section
I'm guessing that the OP is referring to the reviews on TrustPilot (1.1 out of 5), quoting the link for reference.
Quote

It certainly doesn't have the best reviews, but I don't think any centralized exchange has positive reviews, Binance has 2/5 rating on the same website, Bitstamp 2.1/5, Coinbase 1.5/5. So it's quite fair to say that the reviews don't necessarily represent anything.

I've used Poloniex the first years of my involvement with cryptocurrencies, didn't have any issues, but I've stopped using it and switched to other exchanges, such as Kraken, Bitstamp and finally Binance.
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DCA vs Smart DCA, what do you choose? on: March 22, 2024, 10:50:46 PM
That's a good point and kind of shows another flaw in the Smart DCA strategy. In the classic DCA, you can easily allocate a budget that you're comfortable with and make regular purchases, whereas in the Smart DCA, you don't have a clue how often will the dips occur. I guess you could still put the same amount aside (e.g. each week or month) and spend it all when the dip finally happens, but, to me, that sounds awfully risky as you could end up sitting out through cheap price periods.
From all the comments in this thread it seems fairly clear that, for most people, the classic DCA is a better choice.
The classic DCA is a fool-proof, newbie-friendly method for the majority of users. The smart DCA has major flaws that can ultimately prevent you from actually performing DCA by constantly postponing your purchase. That doesn't mean that the traditional DCA doesn't have any disadvantages, the most important of which is purchasing at peak prices. Perhaps a combination of both is ideal, but it is certainly not a newbie-friendly option. Your best bet is to  take advantage of dips and invest higher amounts during major price dumps.
213  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A new Russian-Finnish war is coming on: March 22, 2024, 10:21:10 PM
I highly doubt that Russia is capable of wagering a new war considering that over 2 years have not yield to them any significant result in Ukraine and Ukraine is still standing strong.Russia called a lot of reservists in September 2022 which about 50-60% of them has gone as cannon fodder so far having lost their lives or being heavily wounded from the reports we are seeing from this war.Russian army is very much weakened and their desperation is being shown everyday when they hit civilian infrastructure and kill some low number of civilians rather than hitting at military targets. The Finns now are part of NATO and Russia is not stupid to wage war against a NATO country while their army to be in a very weak state.Russia need at least 30-40 years to be able to recover the losses in manpower and military devices in Ukrainian war.
I agree. Even though Putin claimed that he wouldn't tolerate NATO within their borders, I don't think they're capable of waging another war, especially against Finland, which is a wealthy country. The Ukrainian-Russian war has been going on for over two years now, and it's not expected to end anytime soon.

Russia cannot afford another war; they've suffered many casualties and certainly a great deal of financial strain on their economy. I don't think they're going to go for a NATO country; Ukraine isn't in NATO and is a much poorer nation than Finland. They were expecting to conquer the whole country in a matter of a few weeks, but they were ultimately met with huge resistance due to the support from the EU and USA.
214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Feelings on losing the match and the bet on: March 22, 2024, 09:54:54 PM
I've lost a couple of times betting on my local team, and even though the odds weren't in my favor and I was aware of that, it was still saddening to see your team lose, resulting in a loss of funds as well. I've now learned to not bet on my team unless there are reasonable chances of them winning. By the end of the day, money is money, and I don't see a valid reason, even though it's your favorite team, to bet in a match that they're likely to lose. You can bet another time, and in the meantime, choose different matches.
215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DCA vs Smart DCA, what do you choose? on: March 22, 2024, 09:13:45 PM
I hadn't heard of the term smart DCA before; it's a little more complicated than traditional DCA, and I'm not overly confident in how consistent you can be. Buying the dip isn't something that you can do on a weekly or monthly basis. Traditional DCA works just fine when there's consistency. However, it has faults when you're sticking to a plan, such as buying at excessively high prices. I'm more keen on taking advantage of the dips and buying higher amounts of Bitcoin, such as purchasing $200 worth of Bitcoin instead of $50, which is your original plan.
216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where is the fun when you lose your money? on: March 22, 2024, 08:28:57 PM
There is sometimes a rush of adrenaline in anticipation and wait for the outcome when you gamble, this is the fun to some people. If you do not have this excitement when you gamble, then maybe there is no fun in it for you. Gambling does not have to be fun to everyone and to every gambler, If there is no fun in it for you then maybe you should consider engaging in another activity for fun and stop finding fun in gambling or forcing yourself to like it.
That's what I was about to say. We certainly don't enjoy losing money through gambling; I don't think anyone does, unless you have an abundance of cash ready to be blown away; however, the money-making opportunity, along with the adrenaline rush you're getting through betting and the anticipation of winning money in return, is what gets you going. It's definitely not for everyone, as it requires great budgeting skills and self-control, while some people may not be able to handle losing money, and unfortunately, it's something you should get used to while gambling; luck won't always be in your favor.
217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greek 2023–24 Super League Predictions & Discussion on: March 22, 2024, 07:37:26 PM
It's been a while since this thread was updated. I was away for vacations and then returned sick, took me quite a while to get started again. No matches for this weekend, but I'll go ahead and post the upcoming weekend's matchday.

Some interesting matches right there, but I'm not sure if they're worth betting over. I'd be willing to bet over OFI vs. Atromitos, even though I've been burned a few times with OFI as well, Panathinaikos vs. PAOK is a match I'd rather stay neutral, Aris vs. Lamia, I'd say Aris has greater chances, AEK vs. Olympiakos, I'll also stay neutral with this one as well. The rest are quite meh and not worth the risk, at least in my opinion.

What do you think?
218  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bothered about every DIP? It's just a mental check. on: March 22, 2024, 06:38:24 PM
I used to get extremely frustrated in the past, but I'm now used to it and understand that it's all part of the game. We can't expect the price to keep rising forever; eventually, it'll crash. It's inevitable. I used to get quite stressed and keep checking the price several times per day, but now I've got over it and I'm not bothered at all. On the contrary, I see the crash as an opportunity to acquire discounted Bitcoin. I wasn't even bothered when Bitcoin had fallen to $17.000; I'm not going to let a small dip ruin it now that we've reached a new ATH. On top of that, I wasn't expecting $100,000 anytime soon, so I won't be disappointed if we don't reach that in the near future.
219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your worst nightmare in a casino? on: March 21, 2024, 11:01:30 PM
which means you already trust the process of centralization? Are you aware that any casino could fold up as a result of either being placed on a sanction, running bankrupt or flagged as a distrusted site without your knowledge? ..and in cases like that, refunds are not guaranteed?..lol There are so many other things to be scared of.

Not really; I haven't thought of it that way, and I agree that there are plenty of things that can go wrong, and I definitely won't be expecting a refund if a casino goes bankrupt or is faced with sanctions. Keep in mind that the majority of casinos have licenses in countries that can't be reached, such as the Cayman Islands or Curacao. Thus, they'll hardly face any legal issues if anything happens.

However, most of these are highly preventable. Don't keep a large amount of money in the casino. Certainly, plenty of things can turn south without us realizing it, but it's also our responsibility to prevent such losses in the first place. We definitely cannot predict such incidents, but we can at least limit their impact.
220  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Man bet his life savings on 1 spin of Roulette on: March 21, 2024, 10:20:30 PM
He's optimistic and just believed in himself. We're in no way going to do that if some people tries to attempt that in doing it.

We're not the type of gambler that will risk it all just to get something like this and become a content to the others. Oh, content, can be done by some others if they like to get some instant fame nowadays.

You just have to make some good story, short background revealing of what kind of gambler you are and then boom, you'll get to win a once in a life time type of bet like this story.
First of all, I'll suppose that this video isn't fake or staged. Secondly, I wouldn't call him optimistic, but reckless. Who in the right mind bets all his life savings on a single bet? If that isn't stupid, then I don't know what is. Just because it went along doesn't mean it's an example to mimic. Would you do it? Probably no, me neither, but that doesn't mean that it's because we don't have the guts to do so, but because we still have a mind inside our heads.

Anyway, I'm glad that it actually worked out. I can't imagine his reaction if it hadn't; he certainly wouldn't have taken it well, something that he should have considered a possibility in the first place as well.
