201  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: May 31, 2024, 12:21:06 PM
This game should be tight, so I'm backing the Dallas Mavericks with the points in this matchup.

You were wrong with this, but you won your bet. In fact, the + points weren't necessary as Dallas dominated the home team and never gave them a chance to come back after the first quarter. There was too much Luka and Irving in this game, and I'm happy for Luka as he didn't get the regular MVP award but got the MVP in the WCF. He'll probably get the Finals MVP too if Dallas beats the Celtics.
That was an easy win by @GreatArkansas .. but he coud just go for the bigger odds, the moneyline. Smiley
Luka winning MVP still has some decent odds in it. Most likely Luka will win the MVP if Dallas will win because he contributes in every end, he is a triple double guy, so he might be limited with points but he'll have more assists and grab some rebound as well.

I checked the odds for the MVP race in the Finals and saw that Irving to win had x23. What do you think about this?

In my opinion, this is really attractive as Irving took it personally, and the same with the Boston fans against him. If Dallas wins, he'll probably be the one to take over as Luka just allows what Irving is doing. (that's the other side of my prediction, but it's still Dallas.)
You never know, but odds that high is set that way for a reason, it will not likely hit but I remember before an odds higher than that winning the Finals MVP. if you still remember Andre Iguodala won the Finals MVP for the Warriors for doing a great job on Lebron, IIRC, the odds was like x100 that time.

actually more than that according to Andre Iguodala was 125-1 to win NBA Finals MVP and now is the favorite
202  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin Reach 100k USD in 2025? on: May 31, 2024, 12:00:29 PM
It already touched the $70,000 mark and we still got like 7 months left this year which means that bitcoin still has all the time to be doing surprising things and it might not even take another year for this to happen, I mean a 30k difference isn't really that much to be that we can't expect it to go up to that point, there's a lot of things that needs to be done before it gets there but nothing's impossible with bitcoin anymore, there's so much positive news recently with bitcoin and cryptocurrency, I think that should be a sign that something big is going to happen.
I am also hopeful that we’re going to witness $100k price for bitcoin within this year. We still have long months to go and with that long span of time, there could be lots of surprises that bitcoin has to offer for us. And as long as the world events will cooperate despite of some inevitable negative news, bitcoin price will eventually surge high and skyrocket until it reaches a new all time high.

However, we should still be more open to some price crash and corrections in the market that would affect bitcoin price directly prior to reaching its new all time high. The important thing is we never lost hope but will continue to hold tight our coins and take time to sell when there are significant profits available in the market.
203  Economy / Economics / Re: Surviving in this economy needs a new minds set on: May 31, 2024, 10:54:09 AM
Realizing that you are going to make a good amount of income if you work for yourself instead of going to an office was the key for my survival.

I am still working for other people of course because someone has to pay you, but at least I am not some salary worker at an office 9-5 because lets be honest 9-5 means that you wake up AT LEAST an hour before, probably a lot more, I woke up nearly 3 hours before because it took me 1.5-2 hours of drive anyway, and before that I took my shower and get ready, so that means that I spent nearly 4 or so hours extra on that work, meaning 12 hours everyday. Realize that you can make a lot more working 12 hours on anything you want to do, and you will be much richer, that is what I did and thanks to freelancing, I am doing much better financially.
This is not surprising really as most of the working employees these days have shifted into remote jobs and even receive higher compensation. With that, they’re no longer pressured already waking up early and going home late.

Creating a new mindset that will combat this inflation is the key. If you have skills that you can make a good living, then always take time to develop and harness it. In no time, you will be your own boss with unlimited income. Getting into crypto investment is another solution. But of course, know your investment well before risking your funds. And since investment cannot guarantee consistent income, then let your skills create your own source of income while waiting to profit from your crypto investment. That way, you will have multi profits when both succeeded.
204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exposure to bitcoin at young age on: May 31, 2024, 04:28:28 AM
Not all young people have an interest in investing in Bitcoin, people's diverse personalities will make life more varied. I will teach about Bitcoin to anyone who is really serious about learning it, of course I really hope that more young generations will have an interest in Bitcoin because this is the most profitable asset in the future.

Youth are still very productive, they still have more time to learn than older people who have a lot of business and also responsibilities for their children and wives. It is also easier for the younger generation to learn Bitcoin and Blockchain technology because of their closeness to technology that continues to develop, they can also understand well how to study technical analysis to make it easier to make decisions when they want to invest.

Yes, young people may be more inclined to new technology and gain advantage on it, but we can’t be sure enough if majority of them will favor bitcoin. But it’s still an edge for them if they’ll learn and get exposed to bitcoin at an early age, not only for investment purposes, but most probably they can also use it to interact with other people that dwell on bitcoin and its crypto space.

However, if they develop interest into bitcoin along its learning process, then that would be better. At least they can still guarantee a brighter future somehow, that is if bitcoin will continue to exist for more decades. And if they won’t but would favor those traditional investments, that’s already their personal choice. But one thing is certain, they should get a stable job first and gain fixed income before they risk some hard-earned money into investments.
205  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: TRADERS are not UNEMPLOYED on: May 31, 2024, 03:34:35 AM
It depends on how the individual carries out trading and if trading does not provide financial benefits then it should not be suitable. Unemployment is always associated with not having a job and if you can make money from trading then it shouldn't be a problem. The mistake of many people is to see unemployment in a much narrower aspect because we are considered to be working even though sometimes we don't make any money.

Now there are many models of work that do not require an office, time like general work or uniforms because technology has developed so much. Work can also be done anywhere as long as we know how to take advantage of existing technological sophistication. Unfortunately, society's thinking is sometimes too narrow and trading which can make money is also part of the job even though we manage our own time.
Trading is actually designed to be a side job, hence the fact that it generates profits for those who are skilled traders, then literally it’s considered a job. However, trading can’t be reliable enough if you see it as a major source of income or a sole job, not only because of its unpredictable market, but also because we can’t expect trading to end up profitable at all times, therefore getting a real stable job is still a must.

With regards to people’s thinking about trading, I don’t think that would still matter. You know personally what’s happening in your trading activities, so you’re the only one who can tell if it’s really a job for you or not.
206  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin Always Be in an Uptrend? on: May 30, 2024, 09:29:43 PM
There are times the price of bitcoin will not be that volatile but very less volatile within a close price range. There are times the price will fall, like during the bear market. There are some times that the price will increase. We should not always expect the price to continue to increase, there can be sometimes that can look like stagnation but the price of bitcoin will later surpasses that price and more vitality would be seen.
It’s hard to anticipate bitcoin taking an upward position all the time. That is not possible with such a volatile investment and having and unpredictable market. However, we still have this confidence that bitcoin won’t drop its price to its lowest, although it may dump at some point and experience price crash, but always know that bitcoin won’t settle anything less and invaluable in the future, but will still end up having a significant price that may have chances to soar high and skyrocket in the end. That’s how confident I am with bitcoin’s future.
207  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How will you advice a newbie about this in 2024? on: May 29, 2024, 02:55:09 PM
Actually as a newbie is very good to make research before making any investment you don't have to wait for other people to decide for you on the coin you're going to invest in because the information you get from people can be very misleading sometimes that is why is very good to conduct our own research before consulting anyone. However as a newbie you shouldn't be carried away by what people are saying about a particular coin always do your own research.

That's the main reason why some of the newbies fall victim to losing when they try to invest in some of the coins. Some people refuse to do their own research to know the actual coins that are good for them to buy, which is also a good ideal to be with those who have already invested a while to follow their decisions. Because they are the ones that know much about some coins.

As a newbie, even if you do your own research and don't ask people who are experts about investing, you can never comprehend how market strategies operate well. That's why if a person does research on his own and still follows other people's decisions, what you're going to lose on your investment will be limited.
Research still cannot guarantee that you will not fall on wrong coins or won’t get scam in the process. The fact that you are here to invest, that also means that you are prone to losses and scams most especially if you invest without knowing your investment well. That’s why investment carries risks, but as long as you prefer to take calculated risk, even if you lose, the effect won’t be too much painful. Just be mindful of the kind of the investment you have, and always invest at your own risk to avoid regretting in the end.
208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are banks against cryptocurrency? on: May 29, 2024, 01:20:28 PM
So what I'm ultimately getting out here, is that crypto currency can't go in line with banks. What are your thoughts towards this?
If the Bank is completely against bitcoin then we cannot convert bitcoin to fiat currency through the Bank's services. I think the Bank is not really opposing it but rather limiting it because they are worried that bitcoin will become a competitor and it is not the Bank that is opposing bitcoin but rather the government with its laws. I don't know how it is in your country but we have banking services to convert bitcoin to fiat and even taxes are regulated in such a way.

Every system that has been built will always be maintained by the government, in this case the bank as an institution providing money will think about how this system does not collapse. Banks are controlled by the government, while Bitcoin does not have anyone's control, so the government is worried about the development of adoption that will occur.
Its obvious that the government will not favor with bitcoin adoption because once it happens, the demand of using banks will be lessen since majority of the people will turn into bitcoin since they can be their own bank. And because of that, those government-owned banks might be put at risk, and might not be continue to operate if they are no longer making a good revenue. That’s why as much as possible, the government will use its power if not to ban bitcoin, then contradict or won’t approve its adoption.
209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When you are confident with your picks, do you win most of the time? on: May 27, 2024, 09:01:38 PM
It’s likely that you simply don’t have a large enough sample of your opposite bets that brought you profit, I don’t remember how many bets you need to make to understand that we have a winning strategy, but it’s a large number. I want to say that your result may not be objective and it was just an accident, but of course I could be wrong too.

I don’t want to stand still in gambling, I’m always interested in trying something new and looking for different strategies, although I understand that there is a lot of garbage among them. Well, it’s the search for this that attracts me most, because I like to constantly learn something new. I once tried to bet on what I wanted, but never tried the opposite bets. Maybe someone will find this interesting, but I will look for other strategies, because your strategy has a fragile foundation.

Confidence in betting should always be present. Take that away, and you’ll never have fun in sports betting anymore. When we are confident, it's a sign that we understand what we are doing and believe our strategy will bring us wins. You can bet against yourself if you think you lose most of the time with your strategy, but for how long? You might win temporarily, but your strategy might not be sustainable in the long term. The only strategy that will make you profitable in the long run is one that you can develop over time.

This is gambling, where bookies are very clever, so we should be the same. Make adjustments when the strategy is not working so we can still end up profitable in the end.
210  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the limits and common sense of bet? on: May 27, 2024, 08:06:54 PM
I would never bet on something that involves love or feelings for other people. I just want to take it for fun, like betting on my favorite sports, and that's it. This kind of story is already out of the betting picture for responsible people. You can't do that against an innocent person because not only will you hurt them when they find out, but you also lose your credibility as a person. Love is supposed to be real, and no bets should be involved in it. I find this kind of scenario in movies, and I don't know if it happens in real life, but just like in the movies, it doesn't end well when the bets are exposed.

211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Taylor vs Catterall - May 26 on: May 27, 2024, 07:34:45 PM
Arum forces himself to go up like he just got out of the nursing home just to express his disgust with the scorecard.  He is 90+ and he still playing around big fights lol The old man just won't die like Don King. Taylor is past his prime he should accept that. He was once undisputed but it's now over.

Catterall won't feel like he needs to fight Taylor but they may still give Taylor another shot if Arum says so.

He is squeezing the last bit of popularity out of Taylor, but that was probably the last time since he lost by unanimous decision. I think we are all convinced that his career is over. With 2 straight losses that were not even close, I think Taylor should realize it's time to call it a career.

Quote
But Catterall should be calling out Matias and not Teo.
I think he wants more actual, Teo is known to be a cocky boxer and probably more popular than Matias, so he is just following where the money is.
212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: May 27, 2024, 01:31:21 PM
They swept the Suns and beat the defending champions in Game 7, only to be swept by the Mavs in the Western Conference Finals? The Wolves have waited two decades to get where they are, to have a chance at the NBA Finals, only to choke? Their inconsistency on offense can't match Luka's and Kyrie's. They don't have an answer for them. Lots of field goal attempts but low percentage. I expected too much from them. LOL.

It's because everyone in the Wolves uniform doesn't have the experience, yeah, they beat the defending champions in Nuggets with their defense. But this time, Mavs is also playing good defense plus they have a lot Luka and Kyrie to boot.

So it's going to very difficult for the T'Wolves as ANT doesn't have his usual game and then he has a lot of turnovers too, very crucial. But this is going to be a good lesson for them, this year. It's not the end for them, they can still improved next year as their core could remain intact.

The 2nd real superstar for the team is KAT, but in the 3 games he played, he can't find his offense, so that's really a problem. However, if he will play well in game 4, the series might extend a bit but it's almost impossible for them to come back and win.

KAT shooting in game 3,    5-18 28%
KAT shooting in game 2    4-16 25%
KAT shooting in game 1    6-20  30%

Look at that number, he average only 28% shooting percentage on the last 3 games combine, with that shooting, I think he should not make more attempt and just play the defense, 2nd man to Gobert.
213  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: May 27, 2024, 12:39:56 PM
On the upcoming game 3, I cannot fade the home team, I believe Dallas is really the better team as the Wolves could not hold on their big lead and allowed Dallas to beat them. So game 3 after winning 2 road games, I feel Dallas are more eager to finish the series on their home court, so my pick are.

Dallas -2.5 win
Under 206.5 loss

Updated record 21(W)-23(L)..... 47%

Game 4 for Boston vs Pacers.

The last 3 games it's all over, and Celtics had only covered 1 game on the last 3 games they won. So I would go against the trend here especially the total as I'm thinking maybe this do or die game for the Pacers, they'll play better defense, but the celitcs are eager to fnish the series, so I'm expecting a blowout win by the Celtics.

My pick

Celtics -7.5
under 225.5
214  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Has Trading Competitions competitions led you to challenge your skills? on: May 26, 2024, 09:29:57 PM
I would if the prize is big but if it just to show who is the best trader among the participants, I don't think it gains such courage and motivation. It is unlikely that will have a huge impact on our trading career, possibly nothing change. Perhaps, we can challenge ourselves to improve without this stuff if we want to level up and become more profitable. What is important for us a traders, we are certain of our plan and continue finding strategies that really work. It is not necessary to go into competition so we have to enhance our capability but since we want to become successful, therefore, there is indeed a need to keep improving.
By all means, trading competition may possibly fuel our trading passion but it’s not necessarily that we have to go with it just to prove to others that we are good enough. We can always improve our trading performance and skills by continuous exposure in the market and by trading even at a small basis. What’s more important is that we are trading to harness our knowledge and skills, and with goals that will motivate us to go for it. Competition is a good one, but it can never guarantee successful trading. It’s within your own perspective and motivation that makes you a successful trader.
215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Errol Spence vs Sebastian Fundora - Oct on: May 26, 2024, 09:00:57 PM
What's your take in this fight? Spence might be the favorite when the betting line opens.

Based on the odds listed in https://www.oddschecker.com/us/boxing-mma/boxing/sebastian-fundora-v-errol-spence-jr... yes....
Spence is listed at -250, while his opponent is +210. By his popularity, he should be the favorite, and he is moving up so probably he think he is more comfortable at this weight even against a taller guy. However, I would not bet on him despite being the favorite as I find him slow after he got schooled by Crawford, I don't know but I have this feeling that he'll experience his 2nd loss.

Correct, there should be question in Spence because on how Crawford dominated him. And maybe if Fundora can hurt him in this fight, he will see flashes of that fight and so he will be affected mentally. And with that way Fundora won his fight against Tim Tszyu, it was a bloody fight but it shows how tough he is and so Spence will be tested here and we don't know if he still has it.

Most likely winner facing the winner of Madrimov and Crawford fight for another unification at 154 lbs.

His last fight was July 2023, so he is off for almost a year, it's just right to question his capability as he came from a big loss in that undisputed fight versus Crawford. And yes, Fundora is a tough guy, he was a heavy dog against Tim Tszyu but he manage to beat the champion.

I have checked his record on his popular site, https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/773847.. it seems like the fight is not yet added, so let's wait until it's officially announce but I would say that this is a great comeback fight for Spence.

Quote
Also there is a issue with Spence and his former trainer Derrick James, and so wondering who will train Spence in this fight and that legal battle could be a noise as well in the background for him.
He needs to find a new one, someone that is good and he trust, he can't train with a trainer anymore if he is not fully confident the trainer is not anymore effective for him.

And what's scary is that there are reports that KP might be back in Celtics line up in the next game,

https://x.com/CelticsUnite18/status/1793065185768358093

This is good news for Celtics fans, and for sure they are looking for a sweep next game in Indiana. Although it could backfire or disrupt the chemistry of the team, but I think it was a good plan in preparation for whoever they will face in the NBA finals.

This is good, but I think the Celtics played better with KP. Maybe don't give him a lot of minutes, as they are still grabbing rebounds. They have Horford, who played some quality minutes and was the main reason for that big win in Game 3, as he was able to make open three-point attempts. Just like the old days, Horford is at it again. Come playoff time, he plays with great composure and remains very competitive.
Quote
He will have his hands full as either the Mavs and the Wolves had bigger man.

nah, this is will be Mavs in the Finals vs Celtics, KP will be back in Dallas as an opponent, but I wonder what can he do against a the two big men of Dallas who have been contributing very well in the series with the Wolves so far, if Gobert and KAT can't stop them, I'm not sure with KP now.
218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: May 26, 2024, 10:13:45 AM

Game 1 is Dallas, game 2 this is the Wolves winning to even the series.

Spread is high after their loss, but that's even more attractive to win as it tells me it's going to be a big bounce back win by the home team. I am expecting to see the kind of defense that win games for the Wolevs, and with that, this game is gonna go under.

my picks.

Wolves -5 Loss

219  Economy / Speculation / Re: After the dip in crypto, when are we expecting ath? on: May 25, 2024, 09:46:04 PM
There's so much going on in the space that nobody will tell you when the bull run will happen and if it will.
One of those things is the ETH ETF which may cause some investors to switch from bitcoin to Ether because they feel like ETH has greater potential for price growth. I'm not saying this will lower the price of bitcoin, but it might, at least temporarily. I expect another ATH this cycle, but the cycle can last for another year. Don't put yourself in a situation where you have to get an ATH in the next 2 or 3 months, or you'll go bankrupt.
This is the problem for most of the newbies that the moment they decide to invest, they are also very eager to reap instant profits which is highly impossible for bitcoin since it’s certainly a long term investment. If this  will be their mindset, it’s better that they’ll just stay away from bitcoin and focus on those physical investments where immediate profits may be possible.

No one actually knows when we will achieve bitcoin new ATH. It could be the end of the year or maybe next year. Then best thing to do now is focus on the dips and continue doing DCA. In no time, we will see inevitable profits coming into our account, patience is the key.
220  Economy / Speculation / Re: Every moments of bitcoin value is appreciable for investors on: May 25, 2024, 08:40:06 PM
While some short term goal investors are feeling disappointed in the Crytop currency market since few days now after the value of bitcoin has depreciated from $72,000 to $67,000 as at today, investors who're on the DCA purchasing method are taking chances of the fallen values to accumulate more to their holdings While there had been investors buying even when the value has surpasses the previous ATH because they believe that it's just a symbol that more values would be added to the market to appreciate their assets.

Who's it that says bitcoin has a specific period of purchasing it bitcoin? You should change that awkward thought and get your coins at when you can for bitcoin would always hold the best for you in the nearest future.
Bitcoin does not have a purchase period right, but the cheaper we can buy it will be the period most awaited by many buyers because it is not a time that we will easily get because the current price will tend to rise. The price for now is down around $800 from the last ATH so it could be said that this is a good period to also buy it because the ATH of around $72,000 is just the beginning of the highs that will be reached next year if what is predicted goes as expected.
When Bitcoin starts to pass the last ATH, it will still be a good period to buy, but the opportunity to keep it longer will be possible, especially if you buy it at a price above $100,000, but for investors of course that is not a problem because the target is long term.
Bitcoin is certainly a good buy regardless if the market is bearish or bullish. However, there’s a high advantage if you start accumulating bitcoin while the market is bearish and the bitcoin price is low, because you ca n maximize your accumulation and maximize your future profits as well as long as you decide to sell at its new ATH. But if you’re here for 5 to 10 years long term investing, the current price of bitcoin is not a big deal as you will continue to DCA whether bitcoin price is low or high.
