21  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: In order to reach your target, don't rush! on: May 02, 2024, 08:27:35 PM
How about this phrase "Desperate times calls for desperate measures" ? Don't you think it applies too?
That phrase usually works if it's a do or die.... if you completely have no choice. In trading, you always have a choice  Wink

<...>
In other words, do not buy due to FOMO or panic sell if you are a long term hodler. Patience is key at times depending on your strategy. Above all i think the one of the biggest players in trading is risk management. Any form of trades we make are a huge risk. The question is how do we manage the risk if things go south.
Trading is a long term preparation, so you need not to rush in your decision to trade but rather always stick to your plan. Buy when you know the price is right, not when you want to ride a hype. Sell when you think there’s a need to sell, especially if you are seeing impressive profits, but never sell due to panic and pressure. If you can follow that, you will never end up such consequences in trading, but will probably experience high profitability instead.
22  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why they need a license if bitcon is not money? on: April 29, 2024, 12:52:40 PM
Yes I agree with you that running a casino is basically a business and license is very important for any type of business. no matter the payment method. Bitcoin is now used as a legal currency in many countries so I don't believe in the concept that Bitcoin is not money.  Bitcoin is a very potential currency in the future that has a rare chance of being used globally like paypal. The use of Bitcoin is increasing day by day and it is a very popular deposit and withdrawal method in casinos.  Because it does not have any kind of limitation in transactions and can deposit and withdraw very quickly.

Bitcoin has value so it's money. If we look at CMC it's value is always measure by USD, and it's acceptable in most countries, and even on countries that bitcoin is ban there are still people accepting and investing on it. We have to be realistic here, bitcoin is already regulated, so it's basically money but in the form of bitcoin. Maybe the government will not intervene if we would not encash our bitcoin but we cannot deny that most of us encash our bitcoin into fiat.
23  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: April 29, 2024, 11:48:22 AM

1-1 on the 2 picks I shared. let's proceed with the upcoming games.

Sixers -5. loss
Embiid's performance is game 3 was legit. I don't think he'll slow down in game 4, so I'm expecting them to cover the spread and tie the series. I'm thinking of a possible double digit win by the Sixers, this should not be hard to cap. I'm seeing the same scenario on the Cavs vs Magic series.

Suns +1.5 loss
Just like the Lakers, maybe they'll win one game before getting eliminated. I know they have struggled a lot in the past 3 games but this is the only chance for them not to get swept, so I'm betting on them.

Dallas -6  loss
I'm hoping Dallas will stay consistent with what they are doing, have already won 2 straight and it seems like Leonard is not gonna play as he is currently listed as doubtful, they should be able to handle the Clippers especially that their interior offense is already working.

Updated record 8(W)-10(L)..... 44%

Loss all 3 picks, whatta bad day. But as usual, we don't just easily give up, we continue until this is over.

Miami +10.5.. Last game was a blowout win by the Celtics, just like in game 1, I like to see the Miami Heat making adjustment in game 4. I'm hoping it will be a close game so the Heat loss, they can cover with their high handicap.

Nuggets -7.5
This is a no brainer, a close out game for the Nuggets, they should give everything here as they can't afford to take this series back to LA where the pressure could be higher.

Pelicans +4.5
For the last time, I like to see them having a competitive game like they did in game 1.
24  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: April 29, 2024, 10:53:29 AM
Quote
in that condition especially if you are not training regularly.

The post I saw was Tyson has been in daily training for many years not just for this fight but to maintain his general health and discipline especially as he has not been so perfect at times in his life. The training was important to keeping up with a good general regime of health rather then the opposite.  With boxers or any professional athlete the problem is that muscle reverts to fat if not used and a heavy weight boxer has so much muscle to turn into fat if not used, so apparently he has been training at a far higher standard then normal to not suffer that flaw.  Of course even more training is needed for a fight, thats something else.
You'll see on his physique that he definitely do some workouts to maintain his muscle and strength but not like when he needs to prepare for a match just like in his early years of fighting. So as you can see in Tyson's Twitter account, his training is not for maintaining his health but rather training to fight which he get used too. Mike's body didn't changed that match but if you are going to compare his body from his latest video post in Twitter and from previous exhibition match from Roy Jones Jr. he definitely bulk a little bit in my opinion and more condition.

He has been preparing like a professional athlete, I find his current videos during training very inspiring, we consider that he is practically elderly... for example, I see people from my family or people on the street who are the same age as him, the difference it's impressive...

All of Tyson's changes in recent years show how much he dedicated himself... he was practically morbidly obese and transformed into a strong and fast body... And at this age his metabolism slows down and makes everything more difficult... yeah really impressive.

of course, he is impressive at his age but we also have to consider that his opponent is also training to stay fit. Though Mike Tyson is a legend, he was a fearless boxer back in his time, but his time has already passed, it's time for the young ones and even if we criticized that Jake Paul is just a youtube sensation turn into boxers, we can't deny that he has all the tools to beat Mike Tyson.
25  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An aggressive gambler irrelevantly easing his Irresponsible gambling manner. on: April 29, 2024, 08:49:52 AM
I think this is what OP means. When it comes to boxing players, even if you lose in the match, you can also get a paid fee depends to the contract prize that will be given to you, ....

That's not what OP said, although I could have a little trouble understanding his statement but it's like easing ourselves on our losses by convincing that it's okay to lose because the boxer suffer worst defeat since he is beaten  or hurt by his opponent.

I think it's not an irresponsible gambling manner, it's just a way of conforting ourselves and that way we won't feel bad and we can easily move on. Sometimes, I also do similar thing, like when I lose $100, I would just say to myself that it's fine because other gamblers losses more than I lose, they lose $1000 and they aren't even worried.
26  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever done something crazy to bet? on: April 29, 2024, 07:58:01 AM
And that's a dangerous point to be with. Because once you're not aware of your actions, you losses control of out of your risk. And if it becomes a significant negative number on your account,  those losses will hunt you down. You may do even crazier things or getting a loan, selling your house or cars to gamble it again and take your money back. What I am unhappy about is that, this type of thing repeats on different people and that's how they get broke.
Those people have no one to blame but themselves, because even if they try to place the blame on casinos or the governments that made gambling legal, at the end of the day no one forced them to gamble and they took that decision on their own, and if we add that the consequences of gambling addiction are widely known, and a quick search can bring to them hundreds of stories about people that went thought that experience, then they have no excuse, since they cannot claim to be ignorant about what it could happen if they lost themselves into gambling.
That's what I always believe and I will try to lecture myself if I feel like I will complain beause I lose. "No one force us to gamble", that's the truth, we gamble, we should understand that there's a risk of losing and sometimes we are too ambitious we do some crazy bets like multiple leg parlays with a small bet and huge win, and we know that it does only have a very slim chance of winning, but we are still hoping we could hit the jackpot one day without noticing that slowly we are losing money already. For me, I prefer a single bet like a 50% chance of winning or even a bit lower but parlay just don't give us a good chance, we can only win if we are too lucky.
27  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you cashout or wait for the game to conclude? on: April 28, 2024, 09:11:37 PM
We don't have the same goal and the ability to control our emotion. It's kinda stressful when you are watching the game and you are not strong enough in controlling your emotion, that's a parlay bet and you would already win if you'll case out, but what if you did cash out and turned out you win the ticket? You'll feel that you have wasted the opportunity to make bigger wins and might blamed yourself. So I suggest, before placing a bet, you have already think of the strategy you'll use, don't come out with one that you just think because you got tempted with the sure win and afraid that your ticket will lose, or else just don't watch the game, wait until its over before you check your ticket.
28  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Making the Most of $100 bankroll on: April 28, 2024, 08:31:12 PM
It's just basic math, what happens is that people feel "comfortable" betting $20, $50, $100, etc.  Because they know they can take an extra $100 out of their finances.

I'm comfortable with taking $100 from my income but I don't want to use it in one game, I want to diversify it make it last to enjoy the money I'm risking in sports. It really matters to each one of use becasue some could take out $100 in a daily basis but some is on a monthly basis, so if you are a guy who can only afford $100 to lose in a monthly basis, you have to take it easy and learn how to properly manage your bankroll, then that $5 per bet will work on you. (just don't be greedy along the way)
29  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 28, 2024, 02:31:46 PM
On the other hand I like the Orlando series. But it is also very hard to bet on after this point. I like to watch and follow the series but I don't think I will bet on it. Very hard to predict.
Well, Orlando proven most of us wrong about how they'll handle this series. Personally, I didn't even think that they'll be able to even the series after losing 2 straight on the road with a huge margin. But in game 3, they were able to come back and gave the the Cavaliers a dose of their own medicine and they continue it in game 4. If this is just about the home court advantage, it will be the Cavaliers that will win in the series but I think things are not gonna be the same in game 5 as the Magic have gained the momentum, so I expect them to play better on the road than first 2 games in the series.
30  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: April 28, 2024, 01:09:23 PM
Lakers +4  - win
For the last time, I'm betting on the Lakers to at least cover the handicap in game 4. Adding a small bet for them to win the game, people are talking that the Lakers will be blown out, but for me this is the last chance to bet on them as the Lakers might have a major adjustments on their roster next season.

Miami +10.5 - loss
Bookies still have their trust on the Celtics but I think the Miami Heat will play better at home. Doing the same with the Lakers, adding a small bet for them to win.

31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People have a complete misunderstanding of Bitcoin. on: April 27, 2024, 09:59:12 PM
From what I've found, the vast majority of people whom own bitcoin simply do so for "profits".  I even see a lot of that here.  From day one what made the most sense to me was to study it, and how it functions.  I can't imagine investing my money in something and not having done any research on it.

The problem is people just want to make money. Well, most. But I'm not sure how we can make any changes with that.
I guess we have to live with that and accept that people have more greed for money than knowledge. And that’s normal for everyone here since we are all greedy in different way. The important thing is when it comes to bitcoin, you should be greedy with knowledge first and eventually good profits will soon to follow. Acquire a lot of learning for bitcoin first so you can maximize your advantages and opportunities that only bitcoin has to offer.
32  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. New Orleans Pelicans 2024 NBA Playoffs Game 3 Info on: April 27, 2024, 08:29:03 PM
I'd be with OKC on this match up and proceed to the next match. Yes of course homecourt advantage will be a factor but they're all pro at this. SGA have proven himself enough to bag the victory. However, I do think that Pelicans will at least be able to prevent a sweep victory given that there are McCollum and Trey as mentioned, who also showed good performance on Game 2. Scores aren't that far and gap isn't that big so I think it would be reasonable to say that in Game 3, Pelicans might be able to get it but not the match up against OKC. Pelicans without Zion is tough for the franchise. I actually believe that they will have a chance with him being on the playoffs however as reports have stated, his left hamstring strain hasn't fully recovered yet which is really a struggle for the team.

I got the other way.  I know zion is still out but I like the home team here.  Okc is young and playoff away games are a lot tougher obviously than playing at home.  Okc is the favorite on the road here so I like the pels.  It should be a close game so edge to home court.  I'm also taking a look at the under.  The unders have been hitting hard and think this shoudk be no different.  Can see a 102-99 type game.

Looks like it's the same story in game 2, Thunder now is leading by 15 points with less than a minute before the first half is over. Losing Zion was really huge, the Pelicans chance was on game 1 but they didn't make it, so now the young team had already gain a lot of confidence and they start dominating the Pelicans now. I'm not sure if they will be able to come back in the 2nd half, but this team aren't really good at home as they loss to the Lakers twice which that team are currently 0-3 vs the Nuggets.
33  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: April 27, 2024, 08:08:51 PM

1-Magic +5.5 Loss
Last time they loss by blowout, they should make the right adjustment in game 2. better ball movement to find an open man so they can improve their FG percentage.

2- Lakers +7 win
They almost made it in game 1 but collapse in the 2nd half, that cannot happen again. If they lose, at least a chance to cover is high.

3-Sixers +6 win
I believe they are the better team, Embiid has to play like an MVP, dominate the paint like he usually does.

Updated record 7(W)-6(L)..... 54%

34  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price is going to touch all time highs on: April 27, 2024, 02:55:06 PM
Fast forward - I expect $100K to be reached in 2024, while I would expect $150K in 2025. These are logical numbers to expect for bitcoin post halving - but of course it must be accompanied by increased demand. So far the market has not moved up and is trending sideways - but in the last 24 hours the price has risen close to 4%.

The important resistance to break is $70K - while we can expect an ATH once the price breaks the previous ATH at $73K. Of course it still takes time and there is also a large flow of money in the market - but the chances are getting better after the halving.
I am also optimistic that bitcoin price will eventually reach its new all time high soon, if not this year, probably on the first quarter of the following year. So the current price correction does not really bother me because I know it’s just temporary, and after that we will see bitcoin price starts to rise again until it breaks its previous ATH and land into its new ATH.

However, talking about as to what price it will achieve this year, I have high hopes that it will cross $90k-$95k or even above that. But if bitcoin price will surprise us with a x2 price increase, then we will see $150k in less time from now.
35  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is not a lifetime job. on: April 27, 2024, 02:17:19 PM
i actually think that trading cannot be used as a long-term job because it is full of uncertainty. because market conditions can change and as we get older our analysis of the market may get worse and that can have an impact on the money we trade. especially as we get older, we need a stable income that can support our lives in the future. and because of this trading may not be a wise choice as a job to earn money for older people, because they need a stable income and do not require special attention like trading.
While trading cannot be sustainable as a lifetime job, however it’s a wise decision to see it as a side hustle. Since we cannot assure that all our trades will turn into profits, then most probably we can make it only as a side hustle that can still earn massive profits especially if you have high experiences trading in the market.

There’s no need actually to see trading as a lifetime job since you can have a real stable job that will pay you fixed amount of compensation no matter what. So don’t complicate yourself, you can stay in your own day job, and you can always continue to trade as well during your free time as long as you only decide to trade when the market is suitable to trade.
36  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You are responsible for your own safety. on: April 26, 2024, 09:33:42 PM
However I wish they can put an end to that I will be the most happiest person ever.
I don't think it is possible for them to completely eradicate scam/phishing applications being published in their platform, they can scrutinize things better and be more stringent with things anyway. Don't wait for google to help you, do what's best for your own security, download stuffs only from their original website and be very cautious if you must download from either playstore or apps store.
That would be a complete hard task for them. Fraudulent apps have spread a lot in the Google app, so don’t expect too high that they will completely eradicate all of them. But for your best safety, learn to avoid suspicious download links and just stick to their original site. And when it comes to cryptocurrency, stick to bitcointalk as there’s nowhere you can consider as legit and reputable but only this forum alone. If you can’t stop those fraudulent apps from spreading, then find your own way and stick to bitcointalk.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we really need to blame fraudsters on: April 26, 2024, 09:14:37 PM
It's true that scammers are everywhere, and as such, that should be enough reasons to make people equip themselves about basic tips to avoiding scam, because if eventually you are able to escape online scam, we have got physical scammers too which if you are not careful likely to rob away your hard earn money too, which is why personal security should always be our top most priority. Thank you

ChineseBaby
Exactly. I don't think scam is something that people are not aware of. Their have always been scammers,  it is so Dissapointing that beginners that new in cryptocurrency feel so relaxed and don't care how to make research about securing.  If one understands security very well and knows the right thing to do it will be very difficult to fall for scammers when scammers tries to take advantage.  The reason why most people have always been a victim to scam is because they are not ready to learn and get understanding that will help them to be on a safer side when they come across scammers.

Ignorance is the reason why scammers get people easily and people are not even ready to learn to be guided .
Scammers have been present already even before, and a lot have experienced being scammed already. So if you think being not cautious and careful won’t harm you at all, then learn from the experiences of those who have been scammed all of a sudden.

My point is that no one gets scam if everyone is taking extra care with their finances and investments. We are the ones who are giving hints to those scammers, so the moment they noticed us, we will already be their sudden target for scamming.
38  Economy / Economics / Re: It's better to invest now than to regret it in a hospital bed. on: April 26, 2024, 10:17:59 AM
I agree with your notion regardless of how you expressed it. I also believe that everyone should think and prepare for their future while they can, and it's not about people who aren't able to do it but about those who can do it but aren't giving enough time and consideration to it.

People who are earning enough but spending the money on useless things should reconsider their decisions and think about what they are going to do in the future if they aren't able to earn enough and also wouldn't have anything to back them up while they are not doing very well because someone who makes investments and saves money in the present will face less problems in the future because these things can support them in bad times until they become stable again.
They say regrets come in the end. Don’t just enjoy your present life to the fullest, but save for your future as well like getting into some business or investments that will save you in future financial crisis. It’s not like you will be totally fit and healthy forever, you will eventually end up with deteriorating body and mind, so while you are still able and still competent enough, save and invest. Don’t procrastinate and leave for tomorrow what you can do for today, if you can invest now into bitcoin and hold, then you will live your old age more comfortably and healthy.
39  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The Illusion of Trading Success on: April 26, 2024, 08:39:30 AM
Many are teachers only few are traders. They make their money from selling trading courses, teaching trading classes, creating trading contents for YouTube and other social media. They have their own trading podcasts and collaborate with people like them to talk about trading yet, they have never been successful at trading.
(...)
You nailed it OP. This is really true these days, some also use fake screenshots or fake profits from their trading just to gain popularity and some will use it to take advantage of people just to make money on them.
Especially right now, social media is already everywhere and accessible to many, they can now easily lure people.
Well, you can’t stop these people from doing their stuffs since they are seeing this as their own job. If they are making decent income from it, then there’s no reason that they will miss that opportunity simply because they weren’t successful traders in real life. We should not only put the blame on them, but for beginner traders, they should be responsible also to invest on their knowledge first and learn to filter whatever they heard from those social media influencers. If they can do that, it will be less likely for them to get scammed because they are also cautious towards their decision making with trading.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If someone you introduced to BTC says the risks of her funds is on you on: April 25, 2024, 09:45:44 PM
Dear fellas, please I needed to know how you would feel if you were in my position basically where she said I would refund her if her funds gets lost becasue you recommended and introduced her to the system.
If and only if she accepts that if she gains, I will take all the profit.

It can even be 50:50. I mean if she lose, I will give her 50% of her loss back but if she make profit she will give me 50% of her profit.

But what I have told people that say something like this is that they should not invest if they can not take the risk.
However, having said that you must refund her if ever her investment turns into at loss, then most likely she is not really confident on the investment she is taking, and that will definitely put yourself being compromised.  For me, it’s better to tell her not to invest unless she is ready and is responsible of her own investment, than to risk her funds and at the end of the day, it’s your funds that will get compromised.
