201  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Letter to the EFF on: June 05, 2011, 02:31:21 PM
How disappointing.  Seems like the EFF is case of "dogs that bark don't bite".  A charity that doesn't practice what it preaches will not be getting my donations anymore.  Perhaps I'm being too harsh?

Anyhow, soon Bitcoin won't need the EFF to speak out for it anymore.  The money will take care of the talking.

No, I don't think you are. They are not getting a pence from me either anymore
202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin version 0.3.22 on: June 05, 2011, 02:24:11 PM
I'm a little out of the loop with the development, but just downloaded the client and noticed that it still has only .00 instead of .000. I was under the impression that we were gonna add the third zero in this version
203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: rescan / deleting the block database on: June 05, 2011, 12:55:29 PM
Are you sure Mac #2 has the complete block chain downloaded? For example, you say:

So then, as suggested in the link above, I tried closing the program, deleting the files blk0001.dat and blkindex.dat (on Mac #2), and restarting Bitcoin. Same problem.

After you deleted the two blk*.dat files, it would take several hours before the block chain would be downloaded again. Until that happens, the transaction would appear to be unconfirmed.

FYI, you can download the bulk of the block chain from the Bitcoin sourceforge page, which might be faster than downloading it from the network.

Or in some cases it may not appear at all , until your blockchain is up to date

This entire thread is completely irrelevant. Harold Camping says the world is going to end in october.

Not again

How about a limerick?

There once was a girl from Des Moines
Whose breasts were as fine as her loins.
"I'll do tricks for dollars,
Make all my guys holler,
But I save my best stuff for Bitcoiners!"

(Probably should've posted anonymously...)

You do realize that we already past the 500 most powerfull computers on earth COMBINED
I don't care.  This is today.  My hypothesis is for 2040.  If you don't understand this, i can't help you.

There's a reason to mine. You profit from transaction fees and new block generation reward.

IF YOU DO NOT KEEP INCREASING HASH THE NETWORK IS PRONE TO ATTACK.

That's a fact.  To claim inflation of bitcoins hurts the network is stupidity.  It creates a reason to mine.  Mining secures the network.  If you remove that reason to mine, the network will be compromised.

THE ONLY REASON BITCOINS ARE WORTH ANYTHING IS BECAUSE OF SECURITY.  If hash does not keep rising, the network will be compromised.  It's not a maybe.  It's a definite.

Yea, probably by the aliens from space  Grin

Block generation will never stop. Please familiarize yourself with the way Bitcoin works before posting nonsense

214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: MSI 6950 Win7 64bit- Which Drivers to install - OpenCL issues on: June 04, 2011, 11:37:08 PM
From the number of posts about GUI miner, I am getting a feeling that it's more an issue with the miner than anything else. I suggest you try other miners
215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: reformatting, backing up bitcoins? on: June 04, 2011, 08:58:51 PM
im confused, so if someone wanted to do a runner with my wallet all theyd have to do is copy the wallet.dat and delete my one?

That is correct. Wallet encryption is planned for version 0.4
216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: reformatting, backing up bitcoins? on: June 04, 2011, 08:54:30 PM
There is no password for your wallet
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: reformatting, backing up bitcoins? on: June 04, 2011, 08:32:55 PM
You should backup your wallet.dat

I suppose this rig is  a work in progress  Grin

Vladimir, could you reveal the secret where you bought those from. I'm buying from overclockers.co.uk at their discount periods for £149.99. Just wondering if there's a cheaper place
