201  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Forum image upload on: March 30, 2024, 06:51:39 AM
Please let me know how to upload photographs in a new topic as I'm new here. I tried, but I was unable to grasp it. Please, I need your assistance.

There’s a lot of guide on how to upload image in the forum if you will use the search function method. Here’s one of the guide on how to let you upload image here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5297889.0. I use this specific topic because it’s the only tutorial that still has an image existing since most of the tutorials use imgur image hosting before.

You can use talkimg.com too and just repeat the process of copy paste. Follow @lovesmayfamilis suggestion if you have a too large image or if you are uploading image for ANN thread purposes which is too huge then you should split it on several parts then upload it in right order.

202  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Tuloy Ang pag Ban Ng Binance Sa Pinas At Posibleng Dahilan. on: March 30, 2024, 04:08:43 AM

203  Local / Pilipinas / Re: TUTORIAL PARA MAACCESS PARIN SI BINANCE KAHIT WALANG VPN NA GINAGAMIT on: March 30, 2024, 03:34:54 AM
Good tutorial, pero this is good to note na tracked pa rin ng ISP ang browser's activity mo  or mga accessed websites ike sa pag access ng Binance kahit mag change dns ka pa. So the consequences are still there na pwede kang makasuhan or jail time if ever na strikto ang SEC at authorities dito sa mga lalabag sa pag access ng blocked website.

Interesting disclaimer about this method.

204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing poker online better than offline? on: March 30, 2024, 03:02:34 AM
Online poker is full of thrash players doing a lot shit decision making because they are hiding from their computer. I’m not professional poker but I preferred playing on actual table compared online because you can guarantee that you play against real players and no thrash players that always doing all-in frequently just to bluff.

You will never experience a good poker game online unless you are in a table with players that you play before. Many online poker table has an issue of collusion which I really hate because it’s very hard to verify it online especially if the casino itself is the one who plant this players.
205  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: House always wins? The case of Trump Plaza. on: March 30, 2024, 01:04:24 AM
This is not even directly related to casinos, cause the plaza was offering a lot more services which were the main focus at the time, the casino was not fully operational at any point in time.

There are also too many legal cases and switch in ownership that I cannot find the moral of the story anymore or how it relates to the house not winning all the time.

- Jay -

As I understand the real intention of OP. He is questioning the saying "the house always wins" due to this Trump Plaza was previously a casino that shut down and took over so he is questioning if the house always wins then why the previous casino shut down and why did the new owner doesn't bother to save the casino instead it rebuilt for another purpose.

House always win. There’s no way a house can lose on games that designed with house advantage plus human error distribution on players side. Casino can hit a severe bankruptcy if there’s no much player entering in the casino due to competition while their fixed expenses on running a casino is greater to their profit.

They are paying taxes and other fees too which is why operating a physical casino is very expensive and risky if there’s a lot of competitors in the area.

The rise of online casino might be another reason on why some physical casino decreases customers.

Yes, No doubt about this, Casinos always win against players but casinos real opponent in their business is their operational cost which is too costly while their income is decreasing due to few players.
206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How does affilate programs work in casinos? on: March 29, 2024, 05:14:42 PM
All affiliate programs work the same, in this case you have to sell a service or product through a unique link, then you will get a fixed amount of commission from there. when you get a new user to open an account at the casino site using your affiliate link and when that person deposits money into their account, you will be rewarded with cash, spins or free bets as per the site's affiliate rules. So if you want to enjoy rewards through a casino site's affiliate program, you must read the rules carefully for details about that site's affiliate program.

This is new to me that casino rewards freebet and freespin on affiliate rewards because it usually a percentage of the players total wager made in the casino. I’ve done an affiliate program before but it’s useless to just invite someone to play and deposit if he will not play frequently because the commission percentage is based on the total money players played in the casino.

Some casino also decreases the affiliate percentage if you already gain a lot from your long term affiliate even though it’s not written on the ToS. This is the tricky part of the casino ToS they have the right to revise everything written on it without a notice.
207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you been kicked out of a casino? on: March 29, 2024, 04:52:57 PM
Hi community,

We always hear about a gambler who has been harassed, expelled, or banned from a casino for a number of justified or unjustified reasons. There are those who have been banned for violating the laws or internal regulations of the casino, or for suspicious actions that negatively affect the course of play, or chaos inside the casino, or for other unknown reasons.

Have you been in this situation before?
It's a pleasure to hear your story.

You will see a lot of this cases in the scam accusation board but obviously the reason is due to breach of the casino ToS. I doubt someone here experienced this because online casino usually very friendly if you are following the ToS.

The harshest restrictions which the casino can impose to you is limiting your bet size or excluding you to the promotion if you don’t do anything wrong aside from taking advantage to their promotion to make you gain or you simply just keep winning. It’s very rare for online casino to harass someone without doing any negative things.

I never been kick out on the casino but I experienced of not able to access my casino account due to impossible KYC they are trying to require me. You can read my previous case here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5464907.msg62763246#msg62763246

I'm not sure what happened to the forum yesterday but it loads so slowly that is the reason I can't submit my report. My sync progressed a lot since then.
209  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Running a node dumb question on: March 28, 2024, 10:52:17 AM
Is there a way to speed this up a little bit using the remaining unused RAM and CPU?
You should be able to increase your cache size and speed up the verification process. Set the dbcache in your bitcoin.conf file to 8 GB (since you have 16 GB memory, I believe half is good).
Code:
dbcache=8000

How can I know if the "dbcache=8000" setup is already working? The Bitcoind windows process too much data quickly which makes it hard to read the initial summary when I open it.

why this code doesn't have "#" in the beginning compared to other commands listed on my bitcoin.conf. Lastly, what's the difference between Bitcoin.conf file located on the file path in which I installed my Bitcoin core and Bitcoin.conf that I created on C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin path when I input the pruned command? Thanks for your guidance sir.

210  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Running a node dumb question on: March 28, 2024, 05:03:47 AM
Bitcoin core syncs very slowly when it reaches 15% progress while Bitcoind performs at a usual speed.
There is no problem and syncing becoming slower is completely normal.
As you know, your node verifies the validity of each block it downloads and the transactions in it. Currently, your node is synced up to 2016 (according to the screenshot you posted) and prior to that date bitcoin wasn't so popular so blocks back then we're either empty or had few transactions on them therefore verifying their validity (syncing) doesn't take too long.
Gotcha. This makes sense a lot. Thank you, I'm just a little bit carried away by how fast it was synced on the first day it almost completed 15% so I thought that it would be inconsistent speed. So this means that the 2016 onwards block content is much heavier in file size due to the volume of transactions.

Is there a way to speed this up a little bit using the remaining unused RAM and CPU?

Follow-up question, What is the data shown by the Bitcoind window? Is it related to the syncing process on Bitcoin core because my Bitcoin core is progressing even though Bitcoind is closed?
211  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Running a node dumb question on: March 28, 2024, 02:53:41 AM
I appreciate all the replies and learnings to this uncharted territory for me.

@NotATether I will use this thread to inquire about my problem with your running a node challenge.

Bitcoin core syncs very slowly when it reaches 15% progress while Bitcoind performs at a usual speed. I'm not sure what is the problem because my RAM and CPU usage were still the same when I started this challenge including the storage on the hard disk since I used the prune command that you suggested on the challenge thread.

the screenshot below is my current stats

it doesn't have any good progress even though I left it overnight running.
212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: March 27, 2024, 01:41:22 PM

We are not being realistic if we think that Tyson could beat Jake Paul. He may even be gas out after 3 rounds as Jake Paul is in full condition in the fight and him being young will have better stamina that Mike. I see that everyone has love for Mike Tyson and we never forget that he is a legend, but that over a decade already, a lot has change, Jake now is the new face of exhibition fights and he'll surely dominate the old Mike, (no disrespect).

Sharing Tyson recent video showcasing that he still got the move to boxing https://twitter.com/MikeTyson/status/1768828254428033058?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etwee. I understand that you guys are just considering the age of Tyson that's why he might gas out early which I agree but anything can happened on boxing that means Tyson can end the match quickly if Jake will off-guard due to his confidence. I have my support for Jake but definitely, I'm underestimating Tyson since he is active on his regular workout and knows how to counter any opponent just like what he did when he coached Ngannou who almost defeated Gypsy King who is the top in his division.

I'm still not removing the possibility of an upset match because I believe that Tyson can still unleash a deadly punch that can stop young Jake.

Currently at 15% progress of synchronizing with network. I also restart my previous progress after 2 hours of my submission due to my mistake in exploring the files. I will use this time to report my progress from now on since my Day 1 submission date is a dawn time in my country that i can't maintain for 14 days.
214  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Running a node dumb question on: March 27, 2024, 10:56:16 AM
  • If I have the record of all the block files, why is the syncing process still manually reading all my current blocks which is the same speed as when I downloaded them manually? I did an experiment about this in which I saved all my downloaded blocks and uninstalled my Bitcoin core then I manually put the block file in the directory folder when I reinstalled the new app.

I'm not fully understand your question, but you need to copy whole folder (which also contain other stuff such as "chainstate" folder) rather than only block files.

I back up that too including all the files on the file directory for Bitcoin core. I manually pasted all the files that I previously downloaded to the new file directory of Bitcoin Core after I reinstalled the apps. Still, the synchronization of "headers(not sure of the exact word)" is so slow that it almost didn't progress anymore so I just forgot my previous progress and started fresh again.
215  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Running a node dumb question on: March 27, 2024, 09:42:38 AM
PS; I don't want to spam the challenge thread so I decided to create this thread for my personal question as my curiosity started to go deeper on the technical aspect of running a node.

  • I notice that blocks are being downloaded while my Bitcoin core wallet is syncing in the form of .dat file which is the same format as my wallet on Electrum. Can anyone explain to me in ELI5 what is this format and how block files differ from my wallet files while they have the same format?
  • If I have the record of all the block files, why is the syncing process still manually reading all my current blocks which is the same speed as when I downloaded them manually? I did an experiment about this in which I saved all my downloaded blocks and uninstalled my Bitcoin core then I manually put the block file in the directory folder when I reinstalled the new app.
  • Is it possible to skip certain blocks like blocks around 2009 to 2012 and directly download 2013 onwards when I want to start running a Node since I find it inefficient to download everything from the start while the pruning process removes previously downloaded blocks and continues the sync process using the onwards downloaded blocks without the need of the old block.
  • Lastly, What I'm achieving in running a node? Am I helping the blockchain to become more decentralized?  Cheesy

I'm completely a noob but I want to explore this so please be gentle in answering my question. Please always use ELI5 format so that I can grasp your idea.
216  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Philippines bans Binance on: March 27, 2024, 01:35:52 AM
What happens when you try to visit the exchange using a VPN service? Have they (Binance) also banned users from the Philippines yet? There's another country the Binance banned from using their platform. If I recall well, it's Nigeria. Apparently, the arrested two of their executives. Imagine!  Grin

How about other platforms like Kucoins, coinbase, Bybit. Are they still accessible?

Philippines government is too lazy to file a case against Binance that’s why they are just using ISP to block the website which can be easily bypass by VPN. Also Binance still doesn’t ban PH users and I think they don’t have plan to do it until SEC will file a complaint against them or request to ban PH user.

So far we can still access Binance even on regular IP without the use of VPN. All other exchange including Binance is still accessible for us. I think only some users is affected by this minor which are those who use Globe network for internet connection. Our SEC is not that scary compared to US Sev or EU regulator.

What a ban joke here in PH.  Grin

218  Economy / Gambling / Re: 👑🏆👑BITZ.io Cryptocasino| 5 BTC Daily withdrawal | $1.5kk lvl up reward 👑🏆👑 on: March 26, 2024, 04:09:55 PM
Welcome to the casino, You have very cool looking casino and has license to operate too which is a good sign that you are looking for a long term business.

I just notice that the url is “Bitz1.io” instead of Bitz.io that is stated on the ANN thread title and your signature. I’m not sure why you use a mirror link instead of the original URL because this will create confusion to user here because we are always cautious about mirror link.

I try to visit Bitz.io website but it automatically redirects to Bitz1.io. Is there any problem to the original URL?

We use a system of mirrors to ensure uninterrupted access to the website from search engines in any country, including those where the original domain is blocked by government authorities. If we don't implement redirection, there will be a situation where visitors, for example from CIS countries, won't be able to access the site and will receive an error. We would prefer to use our beautiful domain Bitz.io ourselves, and it was actually very painful to implement the redirection, but in this case, the site would lose a significant portion of organic traffic. Since our project specializes in simple and convenient gaming with cryptocurrency in familiar fiat currencies, we have to make concessions. Perhaps in the future, we will review our policy and only use Bitz.io.

Please enlighten me because I'm confused about this since generally casinos will not allow customers who a residents of a restricted country. Your casino has a license which means you are obligated to don't accept customers from restricted counties.

This is the current norm here of online casinos this is my first time seeing a casino that helps users who are from a restricted country to access your casino. Is there no repercussion here in the future in case a user submits KYC while they are from a restricted country? I'm very curious about your work around to the regulation.

You don’t need to be suspicious because both them is potentially working for @Icopress to launch a contest of various casino that he managing. They are both professional and always securing the prize of every contest that they are launching.

Just like what @paid2 suggested, Visit game and rounds section to see tons of successful contest and raffle that both this user hosted. I know that you have trust issue on this casino but the Bitcointalk team that managing their contest know is 100% trusted that will give the prize for all the winners.
220  Economy / Gambling discussion / NBA All Star Discussion Thread on: March 26, 2024, 03:30:03 PM
This topic is dedicated only for NBA All Star discussion. All other matters that don’t concern All Star Game should be discussed on general NBA thread that you can found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1220979.0

(Credits to Clutchpoints FB Page)

There’s an ongoing discussion about the possible revision again of the NBA All Star format after the disappointing previous NBA All Star results. We all know that the lack of defense on the All Star Game is due to players playing safe to potential injuries since this is just an  exhibition game.

NBA organizer is speculating about the potential format of American Players vs International player that might bring back again the old spark of real All Star Game since they are representing now the pride of their country. The only problem they are facing now is how to choose the team since the majority of the big men and dominant player on NBA is from international team.

But it's also a logistical nightmare for one simple reason: how would you pick the players? It seems simple on the surface. Build the best-possible 12-man rosters you could among American-born players and internationally-born players. This is a lot simpler on-paper than it is in reality for a variety of reasons.

Quote
Roster makeup is the most readily noticeable. The overwhelming majority of All-Stars born outside of the United States are big men. There are 15 active players born outside of the United States that have made an All-Star Game. Here's how they break down:

Two of them, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Kyrie Irving, are traditionally guard-sized. Irving, however, has played for Team USA in the Olympics, so it is not clear which team he'd actually play for in this scenario.
Three of them, Luka Doncic, Andrew Wiggins and Ben Simmons, are high-usage perimeter players.
The remaining 10 are all most easily described as big men: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, Rudy Gobert, Al Horford, Nikola Jokic, Lauri Markkanen, Kristaps Porzingis, Domantas Sabonis, Pascal Siakam and Nikola Vucevic.
Obviously, more great international players are coming. The majority of them, headlined by Victor Wembanyama, tend to be big men. These are not all traditional big men, of course. This group represents some of the most versatile players in basketball, and there would be a fun novelty in seeing how these giant lineups interact. If it goes poorly, though, the event would not be sustainable.
