201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DCA: the power of little beginning on: March 07, 2024, 03:56:04 PM
I have come to understand and appreciate the saying that "little drops of water make a mighty ocean", the DCA method of buying Bitcoin brought me to that understanding. I have had this poor mindset of making huge profits from trading thereafter, invest part of it into Bitcoin holding as a hedge to my trading. This mindset have held me moving round the same cycle of profits and losses for over two years with no progress despite the pains and psychological torture that comes with losing streak in trading. Little did I know that buying little by little would have made me achieve even bigger results than I was targeting through trading. It was when I started being active in this forum I noticed that there is something called Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) that enable someone buy Bitcoin even with small amount of money on a regular basis. I embraced it and it has changed my life!

Today I am a proud Bitcoin investor, with a portfolio that I can call an achievement even though it may not be something too big for some people. I am not making this post because of Bitcoin is rising in price, my focus is on the quantity of Bitcoin and not necessarily the dollar value. Besides, the DCA method has molded me to appreciate bear markets because that is the opportunity to collect more Bitcoin at lower prices.

I am sure there are many people with similar thing to say about the DCA method because I have engaged in many discussions where a good number of forum users confirmed to be using the DCA method, so I expect they will also be proud of what they have achieved through it.

To those who really helped in sharing their wealth of knowledge free of charge in this forum like @JayJuanGee, @Wind_FURY, @tranthidung and many others, you are all highly appreciated.

It is good that you have purchased your coins using DCA which is by far the simplest yet effective strategy to accumulate bitcoins over a long term.
It is a proven technique to earn profits over the long term and Microstrategy is the best example for it.
They have been buying bitcoin at regular intervals and has accumulated a lot over time.
Fortunately I have been able to accumulate using the same strategy and hold a decent amount of BTC now.
202  Local / India / New ATH | BTCINR | Still a long way to go on: March 06, 2024, 05:07:45 PM
Our last ATH price in the BTCINR (Bitcoin to Indian Rupee) pair was on 09 Nov 2021 and the approximate ATH price was 54.45 lakhs INR.
After a long wait, we are finally here breaking the previous ATH price. Although the difference was not much but we broke it.
The new ATH in BTCINR pair was at 58.5 lakhs yesterday i.e. 06 March 2024. But we still have a long way to go as the BTC halving hasn't even started yet.
So how are you feeling about this ?

204  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥🔥🔥 BC.GAME - CASINO AND SPORTSBOOK | $1,000 GIVEAWAY LIVE! 🔥🔥🔥 on: March 06, 2024, 04:33:22 PM
I often see that many Indian people can still access sites that are prohibited by their government because several of my acquaintances have never had problems with them accessing sites that their government has prohibited, not only cryptocurrencies, maybe even gambling sites, but again it depends on how the user uses their wits to To access this gambling site, you don't have to use a VPN as a quick step, look for other ways that are safer than using a VPN which might lead us to have problems with gambling sites if we use it.
Exactly. India has the highest population in the world currently which is why it's extremely difficult for the Indian government to monitor every single citizen properly despite whatever big statements they make.

For example, they effectively banned many popular crypto exchanges recently, but their citizens are still easily able to use those sites with/without a VPN.
If the government of India really banned crypto exchanges and the citizens can still access those exchange websites without the use of VPN, it simply means that the ban has not or was not properly effected, since after a ban, the government usually have to work with internet network providers to make sure they block every citizen access to which ever site they have declared as banned, if this is not done, then it means that the government only declared the site banned, but did not take the step or measures to effectively implementing or effecting the supposed ban.

When the Nigerian government banned twitter like I've said before, all the citizens of the country lost access to Twitter, the only way to then access Twitter was by the use of VPN, and remember, Nigeria is the most populous country in the whole of Africa..
So, effecting a ban has close to nothing to do with how populous a country is, but has everything to do how serious the government are with such ban.

Yes, it's true that the Indian government has banned many crypto related sites which includes exchanges as well as gambling sites.
For example, Binance is banned in India but we are still able to use the already installed binance app on our smartphones.
We are also able to use the sites using VPNs and can use mirror link which binance has provided.
I think the same goes with BC.GAME. We are unable to use the link directly but can use the site using VPNs or mirror links.
205  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are still early in this bull run. Retails have yet come back massively! on: March 03, 2024, 01:22:08 PM
It's very different this time. Bitcoin is almost going to break the ATH price as it's very near to it.
We haven't even passed the bitcoin halving yet and it's always that bitcoin breaks the ATH after the halving.
So, yes, we are definitely early. I can't even imagine how high bitcoin would go after few months of BTC halving.
This year is going to show us some serious gains I believe.
206  Local / India / Re: CoinDCX CEO expects crypto tax to be reduced after 2024 election. on: March 03, 2024, 01:15:52 PM
We cannot really rely on any of these articles because they are all just a speculation and cannot guarantee anything.
Unless and until there is an official announcement from a government authorized person, all of these articles are their speculations will go in vain.
On top of that, the numbers mentioned in the article are too vague. I don't think the government will even considering dropping tax from 30% to directly at 5% - 10%.
207  Local / India / Re: [Coming UP]IPL-2024 Prediction Contest Sponsored by webtricks! on: March 03, 2024, 01:11:35 PM
Keep Guessing!

  • The probable team that will win the 2024 edition
  • The probable player of the IPL 2024
  • The probable bowler of this season
  • The probable batter of this season

You can start guessing from today itself. The contest starts on the 23rd of March and the rules and regulations will be posted here before the date. Please inform everyone who is in the forum and are known Indians about this contest and please remember that this is an Indian-specific contest.

This is interesting. So this must be restricted to the Indian board people only I guess.
But we should think of ways to add more marketing to it so that more people can know about this.
As many of Indian people on this forum don't visit this board often we should try something so that they can get to know about this.
208  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥🔥🔥 BC.GAME - CASINO AND SPORTSBOOK | $1,000 GIVEAWAY LIVE! 🔥🔥🔥 on: March 03, 2024, 01:04:23 PM
I am from India and I can access the casino without any issue.

I think it is the issue with @pawanjain ISP as my broadband is still allowing me to access the platform. I am not sure whether he is using Jio or Airtel to access the platform. I checked using both and found that Airtel is still allowing and Jio being a pain is not allowing to access the platform.

Yes, I am using Jio and it is not allowing direct access to bc.game. Good that we have alternate mirror links to the site.
I tried Airtel too using my friend's phone but even using Airtel I wasn't able to access the site.

It seems its blocked by your ISP, you can check it out with their portal or even the restriction list, have you tried to use their mirror links, I faced the same scenario before and i tried to use the mirror and it works well and fine on my side.

Yes, the issue is probably with my ISP only and fortunately I was able to access the site using the mirror links.
209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin proven many times holders won't regret on: March 02, 2024, 07:52:18 AM
If we see the history of Bitcoin, then it's pretty easy to see how Bitcoin recovered its price. It would take time to recover, but eventually it did. So at the end of the day, holders don't need to be regretful. I am talking about Bitcoin, not about any other altcoin. Because even though the Bitcoin price has recovered, many altcoins haven't recovered yet. Even those who bought Bitcoin at the top in the last bull run, I believe they are almost recovered. If they are still holding, they will be in profit within a couple of months. Bitcoin has given us a costly lesson that holders won't regret. We should take that lesson and keep it in mind for the future.

That is true because we are still way early into bitcoin as it has a long way to go.
But we must also acknowledge the fact that no asset goes in one direction. There are always corrections happening every now and then.
We must stay strong through these price corrections and be capable to hold our bitcoins and only then we can gain the profits when it soars high.
210  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have to hold on tight on: March 02, 2024, 07:44:27 AM
I'm touched by the good advice you gave me, friend... I'm sorry I can't reply one by one and honestly, friend, according to my plan, I want to invest long term and I'm still holding BTC firmly.

and I just saw the market that the price of btc has now reached more than $58k and I am very happy with the increase in the price of btc because I bought btc at a price of less than $20k, that is, I bought at $17k even though the btc that I bought was not much but by looking The current BTC price of course I feel happy and want to thank all the members of this forum.

and I feel that there are many benefits from being on this forum. I can learn a lot from forum members who are experts in crypto, especially bitcoin.

I hope that during the bull run, BTC will penetrate more than $100k and I plan to continue holding BTC until the bull run.

Honestly, I thought you would have sold your bitcoins until now but then reading this post of yours make me feel proud of you that you actually stuck to your words.
Good that you are still holding bitcoin and are committed to hold it for a long term. I personally think we are just getting started now.
There is a long way to go because from the bitcoin history we can say that the price of bitcoin starts falling many months after the bitcoin halving.

I still believe BTC will go over $70k this year, but maybe later.

Damn, I missed placing the bet again. I had it in mind until 3 days back that I have to place my bet but I missed it.
I was going to place my bet on ETH and covering the range $2750 to $3250 which would be a sweet spot.
It would be clear winners at the end and I would have made easy profits only if I had remembered placing the bets.

A lesson learnt is that I should start putting an alarm from next time onwards to place the bet for price prediction so that I don't miss the bets again.

Looks like you would've lose your bet anyway. Ethereum was above $3,250 at the time we were betting on. I lost all my bets too. What a bull run we had recently! Who could have imagined it would be so soon. Of course, like you I'm sure, I'm glad it happened.

Recently I was so close to hitting the Jackpot again

and I'd be upset for being so close but not hitting it, but I can't, looking at current BTC price. Smiley

Yes ofcourse, we are all happy as BTC has surged crossing $60k after so long. We can only wait to see what's the next ATH is gonna be.
Talking about luck, I just spinned my WoF spins now that we don't know when BTC will fall down and so trying to accumulate rewards at current base price of 17.

I got some nice rewards with 1 high reward of 1700 satoshis and 2 medium rewards of 170 satoshis and 170 lottery tickets.
The rest were all ofcourse the base rewards but a nice stash though.

212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mom won 50,000$ in Lottery on: March 02, 2024, 07:08:59 AM
It's a good thing that her son actually helped her by letting her know the real amount because people these days don't do that.
Greed is something that can ruin every relation. Her son could have kept the $45000 for himself giving the remaining $5000 to her mother.
But it's good that he didn't do that and helped her mom.

Her son too was transparent and sincere with his mother by letting her know the real amount she won from the lottery. That is a sign that he was properly brought up by his mother and the love for his mother is genuine. Such characters these days are so hard and scarce to see that a son did not lie to his mother even with the money involved coupled with the fact that she was aged and ignorant of the real amount.

Yeah may be you are right or it might also be that they are not really that rich. So getting this amount would make their lives better.
Most of the middle class people have goals they run behind and try their luck for every possible income such as lotteries.
213  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it possible to inherit a gambling debt? on: March 02, 2024, 07:01:25 AM
I have heard stories about gambling debt being inherited and being paid by their family members in real life.
It becomes really frustrating when we have to pay the debt of our elders without us even knowing about it.
Further more, the concern increases when there was no collateral or evidence for that debt.
Just like you said, I've also experienced similar story of a debt that was inherited and paid by family members after the person's demise. But I think that's one of the most frustrating things a bereaved family should go through and would suggest that the international law authorities do something to change such policies. For someone to be indebted in gambling, it simply means that the person was irresponsible in it and telling his family members to pay for his irresponsibility when he's no more doesn't sit well with me. Inheritance of gambling debt is absolutely possible possible must be stopped if you ask me

I really don't think that the International Law Authorities would be able to help in such cases because a debt is a debt.
The world should stop giving away loans without any collateral and that's the only way how this can change.
In case of any default or demise of the person taking a loan, the collateral can be seized and used for paying away the debt.
In gambling though, this is hard because people are looking for quick profits and giving loans without collaterals have high interest rates.
So people give away loans with high interest rates but then the worst happens and they have no other option to ask their family members to payback the debt.
214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Found this in the mailbox today on: March 01, 2024, 04:05:09 PM
i don't know if you're kidding or trolling, but i would remove that image ASAP if you're not. it shows a bip39 seed phrase. The 6 numbers are probably a seed extension, but since you've told the whole internet the seed phrase and the fact the extension word is basically a number > 99999 and < 1000000, it's pretty easy for anybody to brute-force.

Download electrum from the official site, run it, restore your wallet, make sure you indicate it's a bip39 seed phrase with extension word, enter the 6 numbers you have somewhere and move the funds to a new (freshly generated) wallet.

Creating a new account and the first post is this. It obviously sounds like he's trolling.
Let him be with it. Why would anybody send someone 0.1 BTC just like that.
Why would OP post it on bitcointalk just like that. Even if he knew about bitcoin he would know what that seed phrase is all about.
215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC profit taking strategies? on: March 01, 2024, 03:58:18 PM
Hey guys,

My wife and I have been investing in BTC since around the last ATH, so this coming halving is the first one we've experienced. As a result, we need to figure out a profit-taking strategy. I was hoping to get some input from the community here.

We currently have around 1.5 BTC, and our ultimate goal is to be able to use that to help us buy a house and be able to retire at some point. Nothing too crazy. I'm hoping this bull cycle we'll be able to at least get a decent down-payment on something, then maybe over the next cycle or two be able to pay it off.

Anyways, the strategy I'm considering is something like, when BTC crosses $100K CAD, (it's currently at $83K CAD) I plan on selling 0.01 BTC per week. Kind of like DCA but in reverse. Then possibly increasing that amount alongside BTC value, so if it crosses $125K, sell 0.0125 BTC per week, 0.015 per week at $150K, etc.

Since it's impossible to predict exactly what will happen to BTC price over the coming bull market, I'm hoping to get a decent return over the course of the cycle without completely selling all of our BTC. Then when it inevitably flips bearish again, start DCAing back in like we have been up to this point.

What do you guys think? Does that sound like a reasonable strategy? Is there anything else I need to consider?

Thanks  :-)

It's good that you are thinking about profit booking because many people don't even think about it and hence sell at wrong prices, often in losses.
The amount that you have considered for taking profits is relatively low when compared to your capital. It's only 0.67% of your capital.
So if you want take out some nice profits then you will have to book profits at least for 5% of the capital and wait for a price surge or something.
This 5% can be divided into equal parts if you don't want to take the risk of encashing large amount in a single transaction.

For some reason I am not able to access the site from past few weeks and I wondered why and finally today I used a VPN to access the site.
Voila, I was able to access the site and it was then when I found out that bc.game has blocked my country.
I wonder why they did that because I am able to access other gambling sites but not bc.game. The country is India.

Restricted Indians? That’s strange, I went through the list of restricted countries and India was not a part of it.

I’ll suggest you try out different mirror links[1], and also try using a different device (you can ask for that of your relatives) to access the site, clear your browser cache or use a different browser that’s safe and see if there will be any difference. From what I know Indians are allowed to use bcgame without any restrictions.

[1] https://bcgame.com for the mirror links.

All of you guys are right. It is not bc.game that has blocked my country. May be it's the ISPs or the country itself that has decided to restrict access to bc.game.
But I wonder why they have restricted only bc.game and not other gambling sites.
Fortunately, I was able to access the mirror links that you have provided. Thanks for that. I never knew about it until today.
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your view and your opinion about Ethereum? on: February 29, 2024, 04:42:55 PM
I'm looking at ETH now, it has great potential to surpass the ATH just like Bitcoin (maybe this year), with ETF speculation for Ethereum, its price tends to have a short/medium term upward trend, similar to BTC from 2023/September until now.

But for now, I think BTC tends to appreciate more, after it stabilizes, I think investors will look more at altcoins starting with ETH.

ETH has had the potential since a long time. Both bitcoin and ethereum have great potential to break multiple ATH.
Now that ETH ETF is also in the news, once the ETF is approved, we can only imagine how high the price will go.
For now, lets see how high BTC breaks through. Things are getting heated up right now.
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you use profits from the crypto market? on: February 29, 2024, 04:39:04 PM
I want to hear from you:
  • Have you ever been profitable and taken profits in the crypto market?
  • How did you use that profit? Do you use that profit or reinvest it?
  • Do you think using profits is also important for your investment journey?

1. Yes, I have been profitable many times but I don't sell all my coins at once.
2. I take profits whenever I am in need of it. The last time I booked profits and bought something from my wishlist.
3. Booking profits is a very important part of investing because if you don't book profits then your investments are as good as nothing.
