2001  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: lost secondary password and some of Wallet Recovery Phrases lost too. on: October 13, 2020, 11:51:18 PM
I'm also having trouble with my blockchain account specifically the second password. When I logged in on my phone today after about a month to try send some funds it asks you first for the second password which it didn't used to do.
Are you using the Blockchain mobile app on your phone? Or are you logging in via a browser to the website?

I tried using the mobile app and got asked for my 2nd password, and it worked "OK"... logging in via the browser does not, it just makes me do the email link authorisation thing, and then opens the wallet.

Maybe try using your browser if the app is causing problems. Huh
2002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Ledger Live showing fee for incoming transactions from Slushpool?? on: October 13, 2020, 11:34:07 PM
A lot of people (especially the older and very young generations) don't know how to manage data / private information.
If you look at what is being shared on social media, and what kind of software is being downloaded from shady resources, i sometimes wonder why only a pretty small percentage of people is complaining about identity theft etc.
Quoted For Truth... have you watch "The Social Dilemma"? Huh that is some scary shit... Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

What is really interesting to me, is that I regularly receive emails on my personal email address, clearly intended for other people who have the same (or similar name) to myself... from several different countries. I've got a cafe business in the Australia, a house in the Cayman's and a child in a christian preschool in America apparently. Completely unsolicited, I am being handed personal information of other people. Shocked Shocked Shocked

All these people are quite lucky I'm not the sort of person to do anything malicious with this info (although the property in the Cayman's looks nice from Google Maps Tongue)... indeed, I generally email back informing them they have the wrong contact details, but companies really need to start doing a much better job of not leaking personal private personal information! Undecided
2003  Other / Archival / Re: Phishing Scams With Electrum Wallet Users. Again on: October 13, 2020, 11:21:02 PM
Can attackers still send fake Electrum notification for update and get coins from Ledger also?
They can still send the notification for a fake update (assuming you're using an old < 3.3.4 version of Electrum) as that is not dependent on the hardware wallet functionality... but they cannot automatically create and broadcast a transaction that steals your coins and/or seed as per the "standard" wallet attack... as your wallet file has no seed, and cannot sign transactions without it being confirmed on the hardware wallet device.

2004  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: October 13, 2020, 11:12:50 PM
That seems like it could be an automated translation choosing the "wrong" word... moratorium, while a fairly common word, is not being used in the correct context here. A moratorium is more like an agreement to halt doing something for a specified time (ie. a moratorium on oil drilling, a moratorium on whale hunting etc), as opposed to preventing someone from entering a place or accessing a system.

It's instances like this, that lead to me investigating if the user is using "text spin"... but then I see their post history is just 10 pages of altcoin campaign posts, most linked to a now "moratoriumed" medium account Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes:

One can only imagine what policy they violated to get their account investigated/banned on Medium Tongue
2005  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ELECTRUM "WATCH ONLY" WALLET & 12 word phrase on: October 13, 2020, 02:55:44 AM
My electrum wallet was working fine. All of a sudden my wallet turned into a "watch only" wallet. I can't send btc. My balance still appears.
Wallets don't magically change to "watch only"... I would guess you have accidentally opened the wrong wallet file.

Do as suggested and check "File -> Open" and see what wallet files appear.

Quote
Then when I attempted to send btc to someone's wallet, my transaction attempt would just sit in pending.
You can't spend from a "watching only" wallet. It doesn't have the private keys necessary to sign transactions.

Quote
And I would be asked for my pin prior to attempting to send and it would say something about spendable.
PIN? Do you mean wallet password? Huh

Quote
Also my 12 key phrase, 2 of the words are identical
Is this normal? I tried to enter my 12 digit phrase into an external wallet and nothing happened.
Yes, it's normal... as noted, Electrum seeds are not compatible with other wallets.

So, check "File -> Open" and see what other wallet files are there, you actual wallet file is likely to be listed there... alternatively, just create a new copy of your wallet by using "File -> New/Restore -> Standard Wallet -> I already have a seed" and then put in your 12 word seed mnemonic.

It should restore a complete copy of your wallet, but will include the private keys... it should say "[standard]" at the top instead of "[watching-only]"... and you'll be able to spend coins again Wink
2006  Economy / Exchanges / Re: cryptopia adress on: October 13, 2020, 02:13:53 AM
13tJC2oeXWFmA9fKcjHvQJP664auqBGQJE.

Can anyone confirm wether this is a cryptopia adress or not?
For the record, I went back through my records and found an old Cryptopia deposit address that I sent coins to a few years ago.

My deposit address is also included in the wallet shown above on walletexplorer: https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/000008035a3386c1

So, I'd say that your address (13tJC2oeXWFmA9fKcjHvQJP664auqBGQJE) was almost certainly a Cryptopia deposit address. Hope that helps. Wink
2007  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Using Electrum via Proxy on: October 13, 2020, 12:08:36 AM
What arguments are you using to start up bitcoind/Bitcoin Core? What options do you have set in your bitcoin.conf? Huh
2008  Economy / Lending / Re: Free lightning tests on: October 12, 2020, 10:52:40 AM
What are people using for building up channel capacity? Do you just send yourself sats from one wallet to another... or do you use "Loop In/Out" etc? Huh
2009  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: October 12, 2020, 02:27:56 AM
What's stopping you from just looking up the imported addresses on a blockexplorer (manually or programatically using an API) and finding the block height where they were "funded"? Huh
2010  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How i can creating a Bitcoin Core wallet from a mnemonic ? on: October 12, 2020, 02:06:16 AM
Probably a poor choice of words from coinableS, but I would agree that while there are "standards" like BIP32, BIP44, BIP39... the implementation has been a bit haphazard... Undecided

I still think we're in a better position with HD wallets than the old "random collection of random keys" system tho Wink
2011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: hello every one i need help with old passphrase on: October 12, 2020, 02:01:09 AM
NOTE: make copies of these files before you attempt any sort of import or "wallet dump". Only work on copies of the files!

The sad fact is that there is no "One Size Fits All" solution for extracting keys from all these various files/wallets... You'll need to deal with each one individually based on the file type that you have and the cryptocurrency involved.

- "exodus.wallet" is most likely some export/backup of Exodus, you'd need to inspect the contents of the folder to see what is in there. Possibly import into Exodus wallet directly (https://www.exodus.io/download/) or you will find a list of private keys etc.

- "VeriCoin" / "Verium" wallet here: https://vericoin.info/

- "wallets" and "wallets1": Huh You'd need to look at what is in the folders, could be almost anything

- "bitcoin-wallet-keys-xxxxxx", "darkcoin-wallet-keys-xxxxxx" and "litecoin-wallet-keys-xxxxx" are possibly just text files. Try and open these in a text editor and view the contents. You will then need the appropriate wallets to import the keys. Note that DarkCoin is now "Dash".

- "default_wallet" is likely an Electrum wallet file. Try opening it with the latest version of Electrum: https://electrum.org/#download

- "ethereum-wallet.json" is possibly a MyEtherWallet keystore json file... you can open in a text editor to check, but the keys will likely be encrypted. You should be able to import the .json using MEW or MyCrypto etc.

- all the "*.dat" files look like someone has just renamed "wallet.dat" files... there are ways to see what the coins are by simply opening in a text editor and searching for "name", this should hopefully show you the "Addresses" that are in the wallet.dat. The format of the address should give a hint as to what they might be. ie "1Lfsdf43t...." Bitcoin, "Dfg8gjksdg...." DOGE, "L32hsjkd..." Litecoin etc etc

Here is an example of a Litecoin wallet, searching for the word: name

You can see the addresses starting with "L......."

- "XDN" seems to be a worthless cryptocurrency called "DigitalNote": https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/digitalnote/

- ".rar" files, just try and open with 7zip or WinRAR and see if they contain anything useful. If the ".rar" files have passwords, you'd need to bruteforce the password using the myriad of rar password crackers available (check Google "Rar password cracker")
2012  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Can't send because of "txn-mempool-conflict" on: October 12, 2020, 01:23:39 AM
Armory uses core to broadcast transactions.
When there is no internet connection, armory still tries to broadcast it using core. Core just isn't able to forward it into the network.

So it kinda has to be somewhere "stored" by core, i'd say.
Yes, and that place would be in "mempool.dat" along with all the other unconfirmed transactions received from other nodes etc... what I'm saying is that zapwallettxes is meant for clearing unconfirmed transactions from your wallet.dat file...

Why would a transaction from Armory, sent to the node through RPC for relay to the network and of no relationship to the node's wallet, be stored in the node's wallet.dat and require zapwallettxes to remove it? Huh

2013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can you erase a electrum acount for good somehow? or atleast clean it? on: October 11, 2020, 09:29:39 AM
Hi! Can you erase a electrum acount for good somehow? or atleast clean it from transactions?
Im afraid that somone have gotten ahold of my personal pharaprase. And Im scared that they will get my personal  transaktion information.
I just whant to delite it from the weeb but I have not managed to do it.
If by "personal pharaprase", you're talking about the "12 word" seed mnemonic that Electrum provides you... then the short answer is NO, you cannot "delete it" to stop someone with the "12 words" accessing it.

The long answer is that because Electrum is a "Hierarchical Deterministic" (aka HD) wallet, if another person has those 12 words, then they have everything they need to construct a "perfect clone" of your wallet. This means they will be able to see every transaction you have sent/received with that wallet and can even steal any coins that are currently in that wallet.

If you think that someone else has access to your "12 words", you need to create a completely new wallet with a new seed mnemonic (aka 12 words) and send all your coins to the new wallet ASAP!! Keep the new "12 words" safe and secure... never store it digitally, and never let anyone else gain access to it!
2014  Economy / Lending / Re: Free lightning tests on: October 11, 2020, 06:26:20 AM
The channel to ACINQ finally got opened and I was able to move some sats around... so, hopefully, I should be able to receive some Wink

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I'm not going to get into the same conversations we've already had for all the other wallets and coins... I'm not going to tell you that 100% this wallet is safe, or 100% you should do X...

Your options are:

1. Do nothing
2. Leave coins on ElectrumSV/ElectrumG
3. Using NanoS+ElectrumSV/Ledger Live+ElectrumG
4. Move coins to exchange.
5. Some combination of the above.

Do whatever you want, personally I'd pick #3, unless you're just going to dump in which case send them to an exchange and sell them.

Also, you'd be an idiot not to verify the downloads if they provide the ability to do so with PGP signatures/checksums etc... it takes a couple of minutes and could be the difference between downloading the correct software or downloading malware and losing $$$.
2016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Claiming Bitcoin SV on: October 11, 2020, 05:02:53 AM
- Put Electrum seed mnemonic into Electrum SV -> Get Bitcoin SV (do whatever you want with it, You could try using it with Nano S, but I'm fairly sure that Ledger don't support it natively within Ledger Live, you need to use Electrum SV+Nano S)

- Put Electrum seed mnemonic into ElectrumG -> Get Bitcoin Gold (again, do whatever you want with it, BTG is supported natively in Ledger Live, so you can just use that if you want to store your BTG with the Nano S)

I wouldn't hold them where they are, as you're possibly compromising the security of the coins by putting the seed mnemonic into various wallet applications... ElectrumSV and ElectrumG have not been reported as "scams" or malicious as far as I'm aware, but if you have a significant amount of value stored in them, you're better off moving the coins relatively quickly.

Again, you can't use BSV natively in Ledger Live, so you'd need to create a new wallet in ElectrumSV, "Use a hardware device" etc as per here: https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012270054-Bitcoin-SV-BSV-

2017  Economy / Lending / Re: Free lightning tests on: October 10, 2020, 07:22:45 PM
Apparently it did indeed go through... via OpenNode -> ACINQ -> some random node

I had to close Zap and then re-open and I was able to drill down into the transaction details... Zap wallet has some issues... I may need to investigate migrating to a different "front-end" for lnd if there is one, or maybe a different implementation altogether Tongue
2018  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Private Keys in Hardware Memory on: October 10, 2020, 07:15:16 PM
You probably don't need to remove the WiFi card, as you should actually be able to just disable the networking within Linux OS to make it impossible for it to even go online. This is why "Tails OS" is so popular and useful for this, as it has the "No Network" option built in to the boot menu.

It should be possible to achieve something similar with other Distros... what Linux distro were you going to use? Huh
2019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Claiming Bitcoin SV on: October 10, 2020, 07:11:13 PM
Yes.

Download ElectrumSV... restore wallet using old BTC Electrum seed. Pick the appropriate script type (most likely "legacy") and Bitcoin SV should just automagically display the available coins which you'll be free to do whatever with.

Same with Bitcoin Gold... download ElectrumG (https://bitcoingold.org/electrumg/) and restore using your old BTC Electrum seed.

As your BTC has already been moved to other wallets, you will not have to worry about replay attacks etc.
