This is an open question to all devs.

What's the deal with midstate? Some hash functions alway hash some bits to the same constant value and
don't have to be repeated each time the're called.

I've seen it mostly on blake functions but it also works on whirlpool (I'm working on it).

I've tried using the technique on some other algos that use blake but it hasn't worked.

I'd like to propagate the technique to all applicable algos but don't know which ones are applicable.
Other than dumping debug data to analyze the hash results is there an easier way to identify algos
that could benefit?

Usually it's not worth doing on cpu.
It's very useful, and valid for most algos, on gpu miners, as part of the hash is precalculated on cpu, then sent to thousands of gpu threads.
How much speedup you can get (if any), depends on how many redundant gpu instructions you can save.

Let me spend a couple words on the explorer.
As you probably already know, miniblockchain works by keeping sort of a "snapshot" of the balances plus the blocks from that moment on.
Previous transaction and block information are deleted, to free space and resources.
The explorer has been brought up recently, along with its wallet and, thus, its blockchain is not complete.
In brief, you may not find the trasnactions or blocks you are looking for, if they are older than the explorer wallet + a couple weeks.
But that's not an issue, as the current balances are correct; it's just that some old information have been pruned.
That's a feature (along with dynamic max block size) of this innovative coin (dated 2014), that aren't available on bitcoin, and many other well known coins, yet.

I've posted a pull request to fix initial configuration file creation.
If you are having issues running the wallet with enpty espers.conf, create it yourself with a text editor, or wait for the new build.

I don't think it's an issue with the explorer, but with the exchange wallets: both poloniex and btc38 are working to fix theirs.
I'm in contact with both but I can't do much more than provide information they may need, and urge them.
thanks very much for your help!!
I will wait and hope that all will be corrected.
But unless the transaction should not be displayed in explorer ?

That depends on the sender: I don't know about bter, but poloniex is maintaining their wallet.
If you have a sent transaction which is confirmed on your wallet, but you can't find it on the explorer, please PM me the transaction ID, and I'll have a look.

I have not worked Explorer http://xcn-explorer.selektion21.de/
that is, it does not work with my transaction Sad

My transaction stuck here for a week.
I sent the coin from Poloniex and BTER to btc38 and to windows-wallet.
The support btc38 say:
Quote
Hello, I'm sorry XCN wallet malfunction, needs to be synchronized, the synchronization is completed, your deposit will arrive at your account, please wait patiently. Thank you for your support, I wish you a happy life!
happy life yes )) but would like to find their own coin

why avast says that has a virus on this ?

I guess because it contains the miner, which is the usual false positive of most antivirus software.

If we can find someone to update a miner or two and give us a price for their work, I'd be happy to contribute to a bounty.

I'm here and I can both work on (my) sgminer to support newer amd cards, and/or provide a fast ccminer for nvidia.
But I can't afford to start other opensource projects, I already have many, please at least gather enough BTC for me to buy the new amd card, and/or 1 BTC for ccminer.
You can share it with Espers coin people, who use the same algorithm.

That'd be much appreciated, although I only have an xcn wallet atm. But that would be fine Smiley

Luckily, there's not much load on the server apart from the xcn wallet and the explorer. Those two do actually use quite a bit of cpu time but that's fine for now.

I guess the next step for us would be to get a deeper understanding of the inner workings of the coin. Maybe we should collect all papers, the wiki articles, currently available software and put it all in one place. Then we could take on the further development of the coin itself.
I would be happy to host that, too.

I was planning to make a new XCN thread with all the updated information and software, then we could move on from there.

I wrote the HMQ1725 sgminer you guys are using. I see many reports of rx series cards not working (all HW = hardware errors).
Unfortunately I don't have such a card and, thus, I can't debug it.
Maybe someone can donate a card, even a cheap one, so I can fix the code and even optimise it a bit.

I can give you a 8800GTS.... Very old though!

Thanks but I need an rx series, polaris chipset, rx 470 or 480.
