2021  Other / Meta / Re: Mike Hearn talking about theymos and BitcoinTalk forum policy on: August 13, 2015, 05:49:40 PM
Pretty interesting article from Mike. This is should have been posted on Bitcoin Discussion tho, I think... Whatever opinions people have on forking and/or Bitcoin XT it shouldn't be censored/considered as altcoin discussion. Bitcoin XT is giving an option for Bitcoin development, and Bitcoin only. I'm not giving any opinion about the issue here, just saying that it was proposed as a Bitcoin improvement (questionable), not a totally different coin, with different specs and different blockchain...

It seems that theymos doesn't think like you... but yes bitcoinXT can't considered 100% as altcoin.
2022  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] OPEN SPOTS Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: August 13, 2015, 02:47:57 PM
can we do 0.14 for legendary and 0.15 for stuff, seeing how for the time being, there is still the limit?

What do you mean?

ops i wanted to say 0.0014 per post for legendary and 0.0015 for stuff members

stuff, did you want to say 'staff' ?
2023  Local / Italiano (Italian) / Re: Cosa comprate voi coi btc? on: August 13, 2015, 11:58:29 AM

2024  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: August 13, 2015, 09:39:48 AM
Some things you may wanna modify:

3) Bitmixer's post limit is temp. 100 per week, and they have decreased the payouts.

Bitmixer? Are you sure? Nothing seems to have changed to me. Are you sure you don't mean another campaign?
Ah my bad, I mean BIT-X.

Yes, this is the post :

Payouts have been slightly lowered. If anyone needs a reason: other (similar) campaigns have lower rates, I have adjusted Bit-X's to just above these rates.

Legendary & Hero Members: 0.0012BTC
Senior Members: 0.0010BTC
Full Members: 0.0006BTC

These rates come into effect after a user is paid.
2025  Economy / Speculation / Re: 44% of the network already switched to 8M blocks on: August 12, 2015, 05:13:51 PM
IS there a website where we can look at the percentage of the network between QT and XT?

Are you referring to bitcoin nodes?  http://xtnodes.com/
2026  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 12, 2015, 01:44:08 PM
Local Bitcoins blocking New York, the financial capital of the world, due to Bitlicense regulations.

is crypto done??

Crypto is only about speculation? If the reply is yes... I think that it is done.
2027  Local / Italiano (Italian) / Re: Cosa comprate voi coi btc? on: August 12, 2015, 12:34:32 PM

2028  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos (operator of Bitcointalk and Bitcoin subreddit) is censoring Bitcoin XT on: August 12, 2015, 11:28:01 AM
I agree with you. Well the alert mechanism is not really often used, and a lot of the people contributing to Bitcoin Core want it removed. There is very little potential for abuse.
If a bad alert is sent a special alert can be sent that disables further use of the alert system and erases all other alerts. As a result, active misuse is effectively not possible.

Quote
To be specific about the fail-safes: A maximum sequence-number alert cancels all other alerts, can't itself be canceled, and displays a static "Alert key compromised".

Good to know there is some way to counter it... although seeing 'alert key compromised' on the client probably wouldn't be the most comforting thing for most core client users.

scenario: Gavin sends a maximum sequence-number alert himself and starts spreading FUD that core keys have been compromised and to move to XT immediately  Shocked

I doubt it would pay off in high numbers but people react to silly things sometimes around here  Smiley

However we should think that a lot of people don't use the bitcoin core client, so *what are you talking about?

PS: *I don't want to be arrogant, but is it possible to know how many users are using bitcoin core ?
2029  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos (operator of Bitcointalk and Bitcoin subreddit) is censoring Bitcoin XT on: August 12, 2015, 11:16:20 AM
....

Anyways, trying to censor it may give it more attention than ignoring it alltogeather i believe.

cheers

Exactly, however like I said previously (in this forum) more trouble , more power!

Shall we also fork the forum to bitcoinxttalk.org?

Well not forking, we'll start with post 0 on that one.

wouldnt there be just a sub section of this forum called bitcoinxt.

similar how a alt coin sub section is done, theres no need to make another forum just for the btcxt, it only confuses people.

bitcoinXT is only the name of the wallet.. the coin is still named bitcoin  Roll Eyes, come on guys....
2033  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 11, 2015, 10:00:53 PM
The reason could be that the block size controversy now seems to be resolved.

Nah, I don't think it has been resolved... but how the price could be influenced by this thing (I can't understand at all...).
2034  Economy / Speculation / Re: 44% of the network already switched to 8M blocks on: August 11, 2015, 09:45:45 PM
I think it is a good thing. More trouble more power ! It is only about decentralization (we are free to do whatever we want in the bitcoin world, so we are free to use (or not use) the bitcoin core version/bitcoin xt version Wink).\

The # power is what decides this fork, and most of the network's #s comes from China, so is there a decentralization in there? As far as I remember, over 40 percent of the network's # comes from Chinese miners alone.

The things should not go in that way, but we should remember that miners without nodes are nothing (it is not a simple question).

I 'dislike' primedice because there are a lot of beggars and I like it (at the same time) due the minimal 'graphic'.
2037  Other / Meta / Re: BCT Emergency Response Mechanisms ? on: August 11, 2015, 06:24:41 PM
You mean all the users posts since he/she registered from this forum? Is there any way to revert it back or none?

Admins can but users who get nuked are usually only those that deserve it - spam bots etc. Anyone over a newb can't get nuked unless an admin does it but I've never heard of that happening (they just get banned).

Yep, never even heard of a member getting nuked because of spamming, I only see threads in the meta section for banned accounts. Also, it would be pointless to nuke higher rank members because their post count won't reflect to the activity they attained.

EDIT: Last question, because we talk about bans, if an account got perma-banned, is there any way to recover the account or is there any way to lift the ban?

(If I can say my opinion).

I think it is only a question about 'time' ... the admins can change their idea after a period.
2038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another huge problem with Bitcoin and the problems users have staying safe on: August 11, 2015, 04:15:18 PM
Imagine a wallet (hot or not) becomes the market leader and more than half the existing bitcoins are stored there.

Then imagine it's security is breached.

If this happens at a time when bitcoin has been mass accepted and it is a dominant currency to store wealth in world-wide - then a criminal could be in possession of half the wealth in the world.....

Sounds surreal and could not happen in a FIAT system.

Oh yes a system where .0001% of the population are the only ones that are allowed to create money and have the police and armies all over the  country bought out to ensure their power....

OH YES WHAT AN AMAZING FIAT SYSTEM WE HAVE....

What happens when the gov decides to just randomly debase your currency 50%? Or print 1000000x more of it?

WHAT HAPPENS THEN RANSOMER WHAT HAPPENS THEN?

Can we fork back.. NOPE WE CANNOT, Can we make our own ? NOPE WE CANNOT.

But you can always leave....
2039  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another huge problem with Bitcoin and the problems users have staying safe on: August 11, 2015, 03:14:29 PM
Imagine someone steals trillion of dollars per year from people and they use it to go out and bomb and shoot people and kidnap and imprison millions of other people.

Scary thought.
Haha, yeah, just imagine! How disturbing would that be. The mass public would undoubtedly start rioting and screaming and running away from such a corrupt financial scheme, and urge to fall back on alternative, more open, transparent monetary systems.

Oh, wait...

But this is how the current system works... so it is up the people (better citizen) to change the things with a real revolution.

PS: Maybe I'm dreaming.

Is it possible to create a sort of bot (that analyzes the report of an user)?
