I agree Ty!

Trezor is the best hardware out there IMO.

Cannot wait until the new one comes out by the end of this month.
Didn't Trezor have some issue where it basically exposed all vital information with minimal effort? Of course that would require it being stolen, but still.

Totally different when stolen. And I believe if that happens you can use your seed to reclaim your btc hopefully before thief can crack it
Do you know if Ledger had that issue as well? I've got both just for the heck of it, but I'm not sure which would make the most sense to use for larger stacks.

Not sure bro...for large amount of btc cold storage i use paper wallets...for the rest i use trezor. I use ledger only for alts
So pretty much what I've been doing alright, gotcha. What was that talk about a new Trezor by the way? I can't find it on their website.

Here ya go. https://preorder.trezor.io
Derp, I thought that was for the next batch of old Trezors. Thanks!

Lol..the first batch of around 2000 sodl out in a few hours.
I subscribed for the notification, hope the next batch won't be sodl out just as fast.

I still don't understand why that game was so addictive.

When I stop being lazy and get the drive fixed (if that still works after opening and exposing it to dust) I'll upload it one day. Tongue

Alternatively I could redownload the game, but that would eat a whole day up as well due to the antiquated launcher/patching process. Getting that game installed was more of a challenge than most games are today.

I'd like to say - prove it and I'll give you 15 merits, otherwise you give me 5, but I think somehow that is not the way the merit system was intended.  Smiley
I'll do it the next time there's a free login campaign going on. At least I'll have the screenshot of my playtime even if all the other ones end up forever lost that way. I'm actually surprised that the servers are still running, so it's probably best not to challenge fate on this one.
2027  Other / Off-topic / Re: What are your favourite theory/paradox? (Preferably scientific). on: February 09, 2018, 06:10:05 PM
Imagine being God yourself.

What would knowing past, present and future as well as omnipresence mean?
From a logical perspective it would imply the complete absence of time, or changing moments.

A concept I cannot comprehend, since I am bound by time...

My point still stands though - this creature may have created multiple universes and destroyed them in his infinite lifespan, but what pleasure does he get creating souls to torture for all eternity?

From the same perspective I've mentioned earlier, all souls would be just a part of that omnipresent/omniscient God and merely appear as individuals. So God would be torturing himself for whatever reasons. This is partially why I don't like the concept of God, it just doesn't make sense from a limited human perspective as it always winds up circular and contradictory.

But when I think about what kind of reality I would create if I could do literally anything and was not bound by mortality, I could see myself going through all kinds of positive and negative experiences that I could possibly conceive of "just because the mountain is there". From a human perspective I would avoid the negative ones for as long as I don't get bored of everything else that I could do, but a God could just do everything at once while feeling like an arbitrary number of individual mortal and tortured beings before returning to his original state of no-change.

What's the difference between everything and nothing?

I get the sinking suspicion Wall St controls the price now. I'm probably wrong, but I can't shake it.
That would mean that all the oldschool Bitcoiners dumped their loads. I'd have a hard time believing that. Unless you mean from a propaganda angle.
MSM has definitely taken over as lead shill/troll. Regarding distribution, I really don't know anymore.
I would be quite surprised if the supply wasn't heavily centralized. That's just how things work in general, since the majority of people sucks at games of any kind due to a lack of patience and stress resistance. But I don't see WS buying up a million Bitcoins without triggering a serious pump. Unless they got them off-exchanges. But who would actually sell larger quantities to them when we're just getting started?

I did indeed have a screenshot that I proudly saved for the future. But unfortunately that hard drive decided to self-destruct a few months ago along with the backup drive.

Too bad dude - I was all ready to send you 10 merits as that is a VERY impressive feat for someone of your age!   Tongue

Let's do the Math. I've sunk around 1800 days of playtime into one particular game. Times 24 that's 43200 hours, so not too far off. And I've played two other games quite excessively during that period as well, but they didn't track playtime so I've got no idea how much time I've killed with those. And yes, I was a kid when DOS was a thing. I got my first DOS PC (or was it 3.11? used a bunch of 3.5" discs to install anything) from my dad when I was something like 3 years old, 28 now.

Do you have a STEAM screenshot or something showing you spent almost 5 years of your life playing a game with a second for food or sleep?  43,000 hours is hard to believe from someone your age.... I would be incredibly impressed if that were true.

(This is so off topic but interesting!)  Smiley
I did indeed have a screenshot that I proudly saved for the future. But unfortunately that hard drive decided to self-destruct a few months ago along with the backup drive. I've bought an identical one for the spare parts, but so far I didn't take it to a data recovery place (which I'm not sure will be able to help me at this point since I've tried and fucked up myself). Hopefully a recovery will be possible, since it has most of my sentimental crap on it.

It was an MMO (FFXI) though, which was easy to spend countless of hours on. I'd go on less than 4-6 hours of sleep for days and often skipped school once I turned 18 and could sign my own "sick leave notice". Also made a decent amount of money off of that game by just selling the excess junk that I couldn't use or reasonably give away. And one of the other games was a rhythm game (Stepmania), which is ridiculously addictive as well. It's way too easy to never stop playing when "just another round" only takes a minute or two.

I've probably spent most of my waking time in front of a computer by now though. Used to go out a lot, but got bored of how repetitive that was, which is probably why I got hooked on that MMO in the first place, as it provided lots of different challenges that neither school nor hanging out did (strategic, quantitative, and fast paced reacting).
2035  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Your opinion on recreational drug use on: February 09, 2018, 05:36:56 PM
i was never use it in the whole of my life and i wish i would never trying it even just once however i have bad experience that
my friend has become an drugs addict and he has been died because of overdose

Recreational drugs are different from hard drugs such as heroin and opium, and are mostly harmless. Have you ever heard of anyone dying as a result of over-dose from smoking marijuana? Even I haven't tried any of these drugs till now. But that doesn't mean that I have the right to infringe in the personal liberty of others and ask them to stop consuming drugs.
They're not exactly harmless, but they're far safer than alcohol and tobacco which are commonly accepted across most societies. There are numerous positive benefits to some of the "recreational drugs" as well, which puts a new light to their classification as schedule X drugs with no medical value. I'm pretty sure that a few decades from now humans will have a very different outlook on recreational drug use due to the renaissance of research in these substances.

I hope that will happen in the future. Already, a number of countries have decriminalized the possession of recreational drugs, including Uruguay, Portugal and the Netherlands. If future, this list is only going to expand further.
I'm quite optimistic on that prospect. With places like the Imperial College in London specifically researching psychedelics and MDMA for different applications it's really just a matter of time given the positive impact these substances can have when used appropriately.

That took me way longer than it should have. Good one.

Good one?  That's not like Gleb to make such crude and obvious jokes.   He must have the flu or something.  Smiley
It cracked me up because I was trying to imagine a literal launchpad with wings before it clicked. Tongue

I might be in the same boat. I'll either retire early with lambos filled with hookers and blow, or I'll die as a Walmart greeter (having already died inside long before).
A bet worth taking.

I've had nearly a decade of close to 24/7 play when I went to school. Actually glad I went that route too, since I've picked up more skills (quantitative and logical) and resilience than I would've otherwise. As a result, I really don't get what the fuzz about gaming addiction is all about.

See, you must be much younger than I.  I was in my 20s when the original CIV came out.

When I say a YEAR of 24/7 play - I mean exactly that - close to 9,000 hours played.   I really doubt you played 90,000 hours.  Tongue

The new BFR (Big Falcon Rocket) will be able to fly up to 250 people from any city on the planet to any other city on the planet in under an hour - most under 30 mins.

It should be ready this year, and can relaunched hourly.   Smiley

Think of all the thousands of people controlling these ships, and the millions of people that will eventually fly around the globe.  If notbatman is telling the truth, all those people would have to notice the earth was flat!  They would notice when they bounced off a dome surrounding the earth!

We are talking about the LARGEST ECONOMY OF ALL TIME to continually pay off everyone to lie and say the earth is actually round.  Those we can't pay off we would have to killed, right?

 Cool
Didn't Musk mention that those rocket flights would be roughly the price of a business class ticket too? Finally I'd be able to fly across the globe and back for dinner!

I could kiss 24 different women at 24 different sunsets, all within one day!   Smiley
Only if they waited for you at the respective launch pads. Tongue

I'm currently working on the logistics and I think I have it all figured out.

All I am missing are the 24 women.  Sad
A few more years and you can throw a few Sats at that problem.
