Better you read some guides. You don't have to signup anywhere   Smiley you need to have bitcoins and a client, like https://multibit.org/ (let's avoid the qt client since it takes days to work)

Mining is not a get rich quick scheme, sometime in the past it was profitable but it was just a momentary thing. Right now i doubt mining with your gpu will pay the electricity cost...

This said, using GUIminer is fine, of course join a pool. Luck? Yes it is luck based but in a pool the variance is reduced, since it finds some blocks in a day, so the results are more or less constant. for example

Yeah, after all no one ever shipped anything from china. It is not like china is one of the biggest world economy. Probably it is the first time something is shipped from china!

If you want bitcoins, you buy them. Mining isn't exactly profitable these days. And it makes sense, it if is, then more people would start mining! Especially since mining isn't a get rich quick scheme.
