You’re probably thinking that’s great! Finally, a more transparent and reliable offering. No more getting gox’ed

Actually the exact opposite..

This sounds a lot like some 15 year old was inspired by the neobee news and thought to themself "how can I steal a lot of bitcoins?"
2062  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 21, 2014, 08:32:39 PM
If I'm way off in assuming last 6 month difficulty growth into the next 6 months, then I welcome criticism. I want to invest in mining hardware as well but I need to know I'm not chasing unrealistic profits.

You are way off. There was a huge spike in difficulty during the last six months which is no longer occurring, and is unlikely to occur again. (Though anything is possible.)

http://bitcoin.sipa.be/growth.png

Historically bitcoin mining has never repeated itself or been predictable.

I think it will be much less than 20% increase per change simply due to the fact that there seems to be much less competition for gen 3 asics (<0.5w/gh) but I could be wrong.
2063  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: April 21, 2014, 04:35:22 AM
I mostly meant it as a reply to the guy trying to figure out how to make them quieter in a home environment.  Mod the case and use bigger fans.

Bigger fans have nothing to do with it. I believe it was confirmed that the psu is what makes them so noisy.
2064  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN]ASICMiner Publicly Looking for Potential Customers/Partners for New Chips on: April 21, 2014, 03:27:30 AM
Any news on the actual consumption of the chip and availability date/quantity/price? When will these figures be available?

2065  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [VMC] Official Virtual Mining Corporation Discussion on: April 21, 2014, 12:27:49 AM
is actm/vmc still sitting on 152 packaged boards (70TH+) without adding them to the current 50TH mine?

I doubt its as simple as plugging in the extra boards.

You need to consider electricity, cooling, parts, space, time to configure, and probably many more variables.

And at VMCs rate it will likely be as slow as possible.
2066  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide on: April 20, 2014, 09:28:54 PM
I hardly feel that Cointerra has made..... "Compensation being provided"

They will give you a discount on future purchases.....That is NOT providing compensation on the product you have already purchased....

Woodser

It's also a bit deceptive/scammy when they sell in stock 1.6th miners before shipping out their "2th" miners which are all actually 1.6th miners...
2067  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GPUs and FPGAs replace ASICs was Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 20, 2014, 08:46:52 PM
This guy is right about GPUs being faster. But he forgot to tell you an abacus is actually the fastest way to mine bitcoins. Will likely even replace cpus.

edit: sheeple
2068  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Special Group Buy - Spondoolies-Tech SP30 pre-order] ***EASTER WEEK SALE*** on: April 20, 2014, 07:58:55 PM
So finally spondoolies found some people to buy their pre-orders. Well done

Discussion if they are going to deliver or not are really not uptodate IMO.

There were over 30 companies claiming they will deliver their pre-order and they will deliver in time. About 20 companies did not delivered anything. 10 delivered with at least 2 months delay. Just one could start delivering in the last days of October, so they could claim, they did it in time. The probability they will is almost 3 %, basically 0,001%.

So why are the people so fascinated about Pre-Orders? Is it this magic, I will get more for my money illusion? I guess its the fun of thinking you will get the Unicorn illusion, this finding Gold Nuggets fever. Its the Miners fate I guess

After BFL, Cointerra, Hashfast, Hashcoins, Bitmine, BFL reloaded experiences and the fact, that Chineses Companies have nowadays their own development, which is very impressive, the time of pre-orders and 'magic-miners' is IMO over.

Don't you run a scammy mining operation?

You do realize spondoolies has had no problem selling and actually shipping preorders right?
2069  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Special Group Buy - Spondoolies-Tech SP30 pre-order] ***EASTER WEEK SALE*** on: April 19, 2014, 10:56:39 PM
Already posted in our thread, posting it here again:

We're happy to announce that we've secured a deal with a high quality data center in Central WA for ultra cheap long term hosting. US bundles customers (50 units or more, SP10 or SP30) are invited to contact us at sales@spondoolies-tech.com for details

Someone needs to organize a group deal for this so the smaller miners can take advantage of this ultra cheap hosting also. I'd love to get in on this.

Spondoolies really needs to make a smaller/cheaper miner. If their next gen chip is 187gh/s why not make a miner with one or two chips?
2070  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 19, 2014, 07:12:21 AM
Is this immersion cooling proposal directed at hammer ASICs or are we talking about AM as well? This is confusing?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422243.msg6290126#msg6290126

Should be able to work for any asic/chip.
2071  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 2 Phase Immersion cooling for the home on: April 19, 2014, 06:45:51 AM
Turns out pressure is an issue and AC/3M prefer to keep their immersion tubs at atmospheric pressures so a vent (breathing system) is required.

Heres a nice video with tons of details about immersion cooling:

I was thinking of going for a mini Titan but I dont want to reward KNC for screweing its customers so bad

Don't forget that when you get your titan, KNC will be mining with 10 titans (per titan sold). You would be lucky to break even with a scrypt asic (or any asic miner)
2073  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 2 Phase Immersion cooling for the home on: April 18, 2014, 03:17:04 AM
They have to evacuate the air somehow no matter what unless what you build is a pressure vessel I guess or as you say a relief valve that allows gas out but not liquid.
But you don't need that in your tank, condenser version at home. There is plenty of space and everything is under normal atmospheric pressure in that system.

I think there would still be a chance of explosion of there is no condensing and all the liquid is boiled.

Really?

Doubt that. The design would be rated so that wouldn't be possible meaning they would allow for a complete failure of the cooling and the unit will simply get hot and never boil the fluid. Besides they would also set the pressure to something like sea-level or more so that boiling would not be possible. I think they have already engineered it very well as the units are fully functional and this is 8-9 year design build in the making design right? You wouldn't never do this as DIY at home.

I don't see any valves looks to be a simple sealed unit.

Iceotope Unit $6300 Euros.

How can the fluid never boil? The boiling temp for that 1 phase system is only 100 degrees. Are you telling me that not even a small amount can boil?

And my design would be 2 phase so without condensation wouldn't it explode?

+1 thanks for that detail notes and research.

Now that means you would have sealed section that is not substantial pressure correct or designed to take pressure and not explode even if the water is shut off and can't flow?

I'd like to see how the boards are loaded inside and how they keep the unit sealed.

Each module is a server is encased in a leak-proof box filled with 3M's Novec 7300. On heating, this inert liquid expands 10 times more than water and so generates convection currents that carry the heat away, aided by a chimney effect created by the internal shape of the box. It convects very fast – up to 6 cm/sec according to Hopton -- and is less viscous with a lower surface tension than water, which enables it to reach the parts that water might not.

This is what I asked AC about. I am wondering if a pressure releif valve and temp monitoring would be good enough.

I think the novec 7300 single phase solution is dangerous because it could easily explode if water is not flowing/cooling fast enough to prevent boiling.

Novec 7500 might be a better choice for single phase in a sealed container at least.

Are you planning to fill out the SEC's forum D, register and then pay the fee for every state you have shareholders in? Do you realize how much time and money this costs? If you are planning to go this route like it has been stated before the trading platform will not matter.. The other thing that does not matter is by allowing us to trade our shares, all your doing is giving us what we have already bought from you. How do we know coloredcoins are going to be allowed by the SEC when we already know Havelock has all its proper credentials. In the SEC's eyes this is a very minor crime and at the very worst you get a small fine.. If there has been some kind of infraction committed you have already committed it,, you can't get charged for the same crime twice.
Give us back what we own Ken, they are not your shares anymore.
https://www.sec.gov/answers/formd.htm

Why don't you pay that small fine. ($100,000) for me.  By the way Havelock does not have all the proper credentials for the SEC.

I know they are the shareholder shares, I have never claimed that I own the shareholders shares.

You don't have to register in every state if it is a federal covered security.

Explain how you were allowed to list shares on cryptotrade?
2077  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 17, 2014, 11:52:26 PM
Computer chips that have needed cooling have existed for decades, and immersion cooling has existed for decades, and immersion cooled systems have already been used where it makes sense to do so. I'm not seeing any particular reason why the there is suddenly going to be an imminent revolution in how cooling is done for the majority of datacenter applications.

Has 2 phase immersion cooling existed for decades? I think we will see a revolution as soon as the big players like google realize how much money/space/heat savings they would get from a little 2 phase liquid.

Coolermaster, Intel, and I'm sure many other companies are already working on prototypes/concepts for 2 phase. I think it is only a matter of time before it becomes the norm unless a significant drawback is discovered.
2078  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 17, 2014, 11:21:51 PM
How long does it take to drain the tanks if someone needs to go in and fiddle with one of the boxes? Or do you leave malfunctioning units alone to not disturb the rest of the system, and if so, what's the cost of that over time? What kind of training do personnel need to safely work with these systems and what is the cost of these personnel relative to those who can work with a standard data center?

You don't need to drain the tanks. You can simply pull out the malfunctioning board.

Training shouldn't be too different from a normal datacenter.

A few % of savings may not seem worth it yet while the technology is still immature but once it is refined and perfected there will be no such thing as air cooled datacenters (no large ones at least)

As ridiculous as it may sound I would be looking at cold war leftovers in the form of abandoned hangars and silos.

Iceland, Cheep electricity... cold climate.  If I were to set up a new major mining operation, I would go to iceland.

Even if you could get the building for free and managed to acheive an impressive air cooled PUE of 1.15 you would still be better off with immersion cooling.

You would get your money back in only a year from electricity savings alone.
2080  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 17, 2014, 10:59:03 AM
The beauty of mining is it can be situated anywhere there's network access and power. 30% or far more can be saved on where it's situated.  That also is offset by lower startup costs.

Googles mega expensive, highly engineered, sea water cooled datacenter in finland has a PUE of more than 1.06 so knc must have a PUE of around 1.15 where as immersion cooling can be as low as 1.01

What seems like a better choice:

Option A
10 x $100,000 1MW containers @ 1.01 PUE

Or

Option B
1 x giant $5,000,000 10MW aircraft hanger @ 1.15-1.3 PUE
