That's also the only thing that bothers me, but I doubt that's going to change. This grew from probably a garage operation into something quite large, by a man who figured it could all backfire somehow and seeing the insane reactions here by some total wacko's the best thing is to stay underground. Since then the idiocy displayed by some has only grown bigger and bigger and I've seen nothing less then the virtual equivalence of hanging mobs. Totally disgusting. I don't believe PBMining will go public. Not with the owner having to turn from "hidden is best" to "out in the open", while general idiocy has grown bigger then ever. Not in constantly changing attitude of governments which makes things legally awkward. Out in the open, at best, will be a (virtual?!) address in some tax paradise where lawmakers don't deliberately try to discourage coin businesses. Out in the open in Canada would instantly mean total destruction of profitability for all, so be glad.

Who's asking them to go public?

We just want pics/videos of the mine.

Practically every other megamine takes the time to show off some pics but pbmining refuses.

They spend several btc weekly on advertising targeted towards noobs. Why not save the money and just take a pic or two and you will guarantee 50% extra customers (guessing 50% think its a ponzi. Could be much more)

We also want to know a mining address.

There has never been a legit mining operation offered to the public which refuses to publish the address they are mining with other than pbmining and the other ponzis.

The coin mixing just puts the icing on the cake. I haven't even heard an excuse explaining the obfuscation from pbmining apologists.

It's quite sad that the pbmining users are forced to make up hypothetical situations where pbmining could possibly be real.

Please just stop advocating for something that is almost guaranteed to be a ponzi.

Everyone here should be demanding they take the basic steps to prove they are legit but as long as naive investonomers keep spamming referral links and giving them advertising money, nothing will change.
1122  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $0.49/GH/s on: August 13, 2014, 09:47:43 PM
People screaming about injustice here need an attitude adjustment, seriously.

"OMG I didnt get my magic internet money making machine in time to make money wahhhhhhh wahhhh"

BOO FING HOO. File Black Arrow among the countless businesses people have invested in that failed. Shit happens.

We gambled and lost. Thats it. Dont act like a baby.

Accepting personal responsibility for making a poor choice to preorder a product which wasnt even fully designed rests squarely on YOU.

Acknowledge your role in this fiasco. Stop blaming everyone else for YOUR failure to make a good investment.

Blaming the victims is really lame.

Playing the role of "victim" is even more lame.  Should have done your research...

Thanks captain hindsight.

I think the bitching and complaining is justified and will make sure nobody buys from this company again.

Bitching and complaining about the bitching and complaining is just silly.

Anyone (FC/bitquan/dogie/CanaryInTheMine ) making a video showing the box-to-boot from parts for the AM Tube ?  As the saying goes:  'a picture is worth one thousand words'; a video could help show the relationship (and quantity) of components and the 'beauty' of the design and so help some buyers estimate the assembly cost/time.

The assembly could include references to the handy tools and extras (thermal paste? non slip pads/tape for the front/back panels, screws, fan grill for the pretty version?,  typical PSU) that could or would be needed but are not for sold by AM as part of the package.

Not exactly a setup guide but there's this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0My2bNWlAU (Warning: pornography)

Don't be lazy and go and research it. Youi should never believe what people say but always make an effort to research things yourself.  Most of people who keep up to date with bitcon news know that Bitfury has just opened another massive DC. Can't be arsed pointing you to articles you can easily google up yourself. Have you got 350 posts in your counter by ask pointless questions? (rethorical question)

http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2014/08/01/bitfury-asic-maker-builds-20mw-bitcoin-mining-data-center/

http://www.coindesk.com/bitfury-announces-hosted-mining-services-business-customers/

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2ccs8e/bitfurys_20mw_bitcoin_mining_data_center_in_the/

I already spend far too much time researching this stuff.

The DC in the article you linked was deployed 2 weeks ago and I've seen no mention of the exact amount of PH they can fit in it.

Guy mentioned that a new bitfury DC was deployed in Iceland and I was hoping you had some info on that.
1125  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner Tube Sales Information Thread on: August 12, 2014, 07:18:46 PM
Do the hardware manufacturers even realize what the bitcoin difficulty is lately? We need asic miners that perform in the > 4th/s range at this point.
"Do the hardware manufacturers even realize what the bitcoin difficulty is lately?"  I can assure you that manufacturers know what the difficulty is.  what's the point of this question?

who is "we" ? large mining operations or individual miners?  say, if at home, do you think you actually have an outlet to handle a 4th/s piece of equipment from any manufacturer today?

You're forgetting that the controller can handle 32 blades so it's much more than 4th/s per miner.
1126  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 12, 2014, 07:08:47 PM
It looks like newest Bitfury's DC has got probably 30 PH not 20 PH as it was claimed.

Source?

Google.com

So no source?

Does nobody care that this is an obvious ponzi?

There is always a risk that this is a ponzi.  That's why you shouldn't put all of your eggs in one basket.

With that being said, I found a competitor, located in the UK, with the same business model and similar prices.  Their mines are located in the UK, USA, and South America.  They list their company name and address.

It shows that either:

1. PBmining has a viable business model and is not necessarily a ponzi
or
2. There are 2 rival ponzi schemes competing for your BTC.

There are much, much more than 2 more ponzi schemes competing for your money.

If pbmining were real they would provide a mining address and pics/videos of their ever-expanding mine.

It would take 2 seconds worth of work to silence the skeptics and open their service to the huge number of people who previously thought it was a ponzi.

But instead they implement a complicated bitcoin mixer to make sure everyone thinks it's a ponzi.

Why is btcgarden unreputable?

They have no complaints, hardware ships immediately and performs exactly as advertised.

Checking the threads... adding links soon.

IPO?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=264696.msg2922342#msg2922342

Does that not merit concerns for people?
Can you trust them given this sort of past behaviour?

Scanning threads for more.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=622439.msg8147577#msg8147577 <-- Delivery 3 - 7 days... on spec only minor issues and they are very responsive and helpful in thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=622439.msg8288576#msg8288576 <-- Responsive to customer calls for discounting of pricing.

I am moving them to Thumbs Up and will continue scanning. Thanks for the heads up Jimmothy.

But still let us have a serious discussion about the aborted IPO... doesn't that give you pause?

I'm not sure what concerns the IPO raises. An IPO is much better than crowdfunding via preorders like avalon/bitfury/knc. I invested in the IPO and what happened was someone made phony complaints to the local police after the IPO was successful. IPO was cancelled because of the legal risks and every bitcoin was returned. Nobody was unhappy with how it turned out as far as I could tell.

They funded a generation of asics with their own money (designed/produced their own chips and all) and if they were scammers they would have ran with the few thousand BTC they raised during that IPO instead of returning it all.

How many have you got for sale?

What psu us recommended for 1, 2, or 3 of them?

Does that price include the 4 coolers?

Thank you

1 unit for sale.

For the PSU I'd recommend ~550w per unit to leave room for overclocking.

Price has also been lowered to $335. (does not include cooling or shipping)
1133  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [DIY] AllCoinMiner's Power Supply Sizing Guide on: August 11, 2014, 07:53:24 AM
The two black lines in the 4 lines is COM, the yellow is +12VDC(pin 1) and the red is +5VDC.
There is no problem in using them as your second PCI power cable to S3 blades.
The double PCI power connectors on a single PCI cable will not serve the purpose.
For this CX500 power supply connect the PCI power cable(6+2) to each blade.
And if you want to connect all the four PCI power ports, use 2 molex to pci to connect one each blade as secondary.

Using molex as pci-e cables is a great way to get melted wires.

Also I don't think there is anything wrong with buying a PSU without an extra 25% safety margin.

@jimbo i dont have anything against you man, but you should serioulsy consider finding some other hobby than just trashing those peps. We get it that you just cant bare them, so why not just moving on now?

Funny that you say that yet completely support someone who was literally paid several BTC per month to spam/trash everything that is not mpex.

Why not addressing one of the several elephants in the room? Why is 90% of their revenue from recruiting new investonomers? Why is the exchange owner taking such a huge role in "educating" his "investors"? Why is every single company co-owned by the exchange owner?

Quote
Im just saying these folks seems smart and provocative enough to consider their ideas, aside from all that junk coming from coindesk & co.

Why don't you share some of these great ideas?

It's now mpex.ws

Actually i have to say i have much respect for MP and his fellows. They seem not to give a shit about "political correct" and that exactly why they deserve my attention.

I cant tell if you've drank too much koolaid or if your entire post is satire.

Quote
I am not trading on MPex tho because this playground isnt for me as for now but I'd be glad to see it expand in the coming years. I dont believe it will fade and i really enjoy reading their blogs, which puts bitcoin under some less mainstream garbage. Long live the cynical pervs!

Why would you like to see the expansion of a sketchy/scammy exchange run by a romanian egomaniac whose every action is questionable? Why do you not want a legit SEC regulated exchange or a decentralized blockchain exchange? Nevermind this ponzi-pyramid scheme is a great addition to bitcoin!

It is a shame MPOE-PR has been perma-banned from this forum. She/he was right about a lot of things, her/his inputs were highly valuable, and it was fun looking at her/his getting into arguments with "non-receptive" members Tongue

Have you actually read any number MPOE-PR's posts? This person was paid 12btc per month to spam/troll the forum with anything that could possibly link/bring traffic back to mpex.

If you look back at MPOE-PR's history you will find 75% trolling/slandering mpex competition, 23% incorrect predictions, 1% correct predictions, and 1% constructive criticism.

And MP's blog is the same shit. 99% of his blog posts can be summarized as: "HERE is why you should be giving me money". Funny how mpex is the only exchange/stock which is constantly giving investing advice. I wonder why? Maybe because without being spoon-fed nonsense, even fewer naive investonomers receptive thinkers would use mpex?

Quote
edit: but i get it that their ego must have annoyed some people around. but it is the price that comes with visionnaires i guess.

I don't think the inflated egos are the reason. I think it has more to do with the cult touting that mpex has been a significant contribution to the bitcoin ecosystem which is a blatantly false. The only thing mpex has contributed is money to MP's wallet. Mpex is nothing more than a sketchy/scammy exchange that anyone with real world financial experience would avoid touching with a 50 foot pole.

Sure MP is a visionary but only in the same way as Bernie Madoff. I have to hand it to him, he has created an incredibly efficient/effective scheme but he will have to expand beyond the irc chatroom full of bitcoin outcasts if he wants some serious cash.

1138  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Petition to sticky Dogies manufacturer trustworthiness guide!! on: August 10, 2014, 03:14:49 AM
The only thing I can say here is that nothing stops a company from sending Dogie a unit that works really well and then still not shipping to their customers after they build hype if Dogie likes it.

There's also the opposite where a companies reputation is hugely affected by sending a faulty testing unit or none at all.

For example btcgarden has zero complaints as far as I can tell yet somehow dogie managed to get the only faulty unit and poor communication.

Point is something so debatable shouldn't be stickied, especially when biases are to be expected.

If it was just my unit - fine - it is just random chance. But the ONLY two reviewers in the Western hemisphere BOTH received dead units, and then received absolutely no interaction from the company to attempt to fix it.... Its statistically impossible given their quoted 0.3% failure rate - which they put down to customer errors anyway. Its less about the failed miners and more about the 'what else are they trying to hide'?

Given that the vast majority of their miners are shipped to the Asian markets where we don't have exposure to, we have to air on the side of caution. And if anyone thinks I'm purposely being biased over $100 of miner rather than trying to protect the community [aka doing my job...], then I'm not sure what planet you live on :/

I think most people agree your ratings are 99% on point and unbiased but what we don't agree on is that there should be an official guide.

I do suppose it wouldn't be so bad if the mods would agree to unsticky it if something (majorly) questionable comes up.

if dogies opinion can be wrong and/or he could be paid off.

If its 'wrong', disagree with me. And I'm probably the last person you can pay off. I'm not saying there shouldn't be others doing the same, but the smaller the guide owner, the easier it is to pay them off.

IMO we shouldn't be stickying anything that is constantly changing, debatable, and full of opinions.
